It had been a week since the stranger had last spoken to Yuusuke and Kurama and now they were getting a long fairly well. Kurama was becoming more of the person he was when Yuusuke had first met him. He wasn't hiding in the darkness any more. He wasn't living in fear or guilt. He was happy; he was with Yuusuke, literally. The two had spend the last week with each other and they both realized something seemed to spark, but it wasn't in the sort of way one would think.

It was the sort of spark that when they were apart they were sad, lonely and calling for one another silently. When they were together they were happy, and talking even in the most silent of moments. Kurama could tell Yuusuke was happy as well.

Kurama however was confused. Sure they were together, well to him anyway, but nothing ever happened. He didn't know when he could say things, or if they would offend the spirit detective. He didn't know what Yuusuke would do if he did something, so Kurama stayed quiet. Holding in everything that confused him. He didn't want Yuusuke to have to keep dealing with him. It wasn't right to force all of that on his friend. Yet he would also feel bad when Yuusuke would give him a questioning glance and he would smile like there was nothing wrong. It made the spirit fox's stomach twist; he hated it.

"Kurama..."Yuusuke whispered as he looked at the Emerald eyed boy, Kurama looked up almost brokenly. Yuusuke's hand came to rest under his chin, and Yuusuke looked into the eyes that had captivated him for so long.

"What's wrong?”

Kurama looked nervously at the young boy in front of him and tried to smile. That was another thing he had learned over the past few days. He could smile, with out actually meaning it. To others it would be a happy smile, but to him it was his broken smile. The one he used when he felt empty and confused.

It seemed however that Yuusuke also knew that smile. As he tilted Kurama's head up even further making him look him in the eye.

"Please Kurama tell me what's wrong. It feels like you're withdrawing again. I can't stand to see you like that." Yuusuke said kissing Kurama's forehead. He trembled at the mere touch of lips against his skin and grabbed onto Yuusuke. He didn't know what to do; he didn't know what to say. He could feel his shoulders shaking as Yuusuke held him, but he was sure that neither felt his tears. Only because there were none.

"What's wrong?" Yuusuke asked quietly. "I don't know," Kurama said, his voice only showing the slightest signs of cracking.

"What do you mean?"
"I'm so confused Yuusuke. I don't get what we are. I've had relation ships. I was a Yoko, but this. It's mind-boggling. I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing. You don't treat me like glass and I love you for that. But I have no idea what I'm doing. I was so use to being alone and secluded. I feel so lost when I'm with you, with anyone." Kurama said as he hid his face in Yuusuke's shirt, the boy nodded understanding Kurama fully.

" Shhh, it's alright," he said lifting Kurama's head. He kissed each of the kitsune's eyelids and his lips lightly. " Just relax," Yuusuke said Kurama nodded lying against the boy. "Now slow down and just relax and tell me what's confusing you."

“Well it's just, we're together, or that's what it feels like, and I'm so confused. I don't know when I should do this, or say that. I don't know if you will hate me if I say one thing, then do it as I say another. I don't know if I can handle it Yuusuke, not like this at least.” Kurama said as he continued to hide his face against the boy's chest.

“Shhh, Kurama it's alright. If I hated you, I wouldn't be here. There's nothing you could ever do that would make me hate you. It's all right, I don't know how many times I have to tell you this, but I'll keep telling you until you believe me.”

“Then he'll break you even further when he betrays you…”

“Yuusuke?” Kurama said looking up at the boy, Yuusuke's features were serious as he looked around.

“Whose there?” He asked, no one replied, yet they both looked when they heard a shifting by the window, but a few feet away. The both looked they gaze meeting all black before the figured moved forward some. Their height but that of a child's.

“Hiei, what are you doing here?” Kurama asked, his hand holding tight to Yuusuke's.

“He'll break you Kurama, just like so many others have. Yet he hasn't realized yet you are mine to break.” Hiei said looking at the two. Yuusuke stood, comforting Kurama as he stood, telling him it was fine and to stay back.

He walked over to Hiei, standing in front of the short demon.

“Leave.” He said as he stared coldly into crimson eyes. Hiei just stared at him; his gave not wavering in the slightest.

“I said leave Hiei, now.” Yuusuke repeated, Hiei's fist connected with the side of his head.

“I take orders from no one boy.”

“Kurama! Run! This isn't Hiei!” Yuusuke shouted as he grabbed Hiei by the arms, restraining him as Kurama scrambled to his feet, “Go to Genkai's tell her what's going on, hurry!!”

“But Yuusuke-”

“Kurama, I've never asked you to do anything, but this I need you to do. Who ever is after you is going through Hiei. I need you to go, please.” Yuusuke was close to begging. They all stared in silence, even as Hiei began to fight against Yuusuke.

Kurama nodded and turned as he ran out of the room and not before long the door slam echo through out the rooms. Yuusuke's energy flared around him before he let Hiei go. A barrier surrounding them so he couldn't escape to go after Kurama.

“Who are you?” Yuusuke asked as he held he fist up in a defense position. Hiei jumped back, pulling the same stance.

Wouldn't you like to know.” Hiei taunted as they stared one another down. Yuusuke snorted.

“Fine, don't tell me. I just wanted to know who I was going to be killing soon.” And with that he charged after Hiei, his fist drawing back he nailed the shorter fighter in the jaw. Hiei slammed against the wall. His head hitting it with a sharp thunk, he slid to the floor. He pushed against the wall as he stood again.

You attack your own?” He snided, Yuusuke merely smirked,

“Your not Hiei, and hell he'd do the same thing to me even if I was willing to do what he's doing now. We have a love hate relationship. He'll thank me for this later.” Hiei stood and smiled charging after Yuusuke.

I'll be sure to give your friend something to thank you for then” He shouted,

Kurama continued to run through the forest area that surrounded Genkai's he was taking an indirect route and he would be there soon. Only a few more kilometers and he'd have to jump the wall that kept the creatures from Genkai's house. He wiped the hair from his eyes and hoped Yuusuke was all right as he sped up, tree branches snagging on his clothes. Only a few more kilometers, and he would be there, he told himself until the kilometers became meters and the meters centimeters. He jumped over the way and kicked his shoes under the porch running through the dojo until he came to the main part of the house.

“Genkai!!” He called as he searched the rooms, he found her in her game area, she looked up at him as Yukina came into the room in a rush.

“Kurama.” She greeted,

“Genkai…Hiei's under someone's control and is fighting Yuusuke at his home. Yuusuke sent me here because the person who is controlling Hiei is after me.” Kurama breathed. Genkai looked at him for a moment before turning back to her game,

“Did you call Koenma?” Kurama shook his head,
“There's a communicator in the main room, Yukina show him.” Genkai said, Yukina nodded before walking out of the room, Kurama following her as he calmed his heart.

“You say Hiei's gone after Yuusuke?”

“Not Yuusuke, me. Although I do think that after I left the two started a battle. Yuusuke put up a barrier when I left so Hiei couldn't follow me.” Kurama said as Yukina opened the sliding doors, he walked through and she followed, closing the doors behind her. She walked past him and to a table; she pulled one of the drawers open and pulled out a small silver devise. She walked back over to Kurama and handed it to hem before sitting down.

He flipped it open, and waited for the static to clear. He came face to face with Koenma.

“Kurama, are you all right?” The god asked,
“Yes, I'm fine, how's Yuusuke?”
“He's fine, I can't say the same for Hiei though.”
“Then they did fight.”
“Yes they did, and it didn't last long. Yuusuke's on his way there now.” Koenma said ending the conversation as Kurama closed the communicator and sat down. Trying to stay still as he waited for Yuusuke.

He almost shot up when he felt his signature, and almost started a fit when he saw what Yuusuke looked like. He swallowed. If Yuusuke looked like this and Hiei was the one in bad shape…

“Hey,” Yuusuke greeted as Kurama rushed towards him,
“Yuusuke…”
“Aw come on I'm fine, nothing but a few broken bones, a busted lip and some scratches.” He said smiling. Yukina followed Kurama and gasped when her eyes caught sight of Yuusuke.

“Sit down this instance,” she said walking towards him, fully intent on healing him.

“Sure thing…” he whispered as he collapsed…
