Chapter 1- A troubled Girl

You sat alone on the cold hard stone floor of the dungeon scared to death. There was a beast boiler man stirring some hot water and glancing at you from time to time. He chuckled.

"It's too bad you're so beautiful my pet. Ohh well, let's just hope you'll be sweet as well." He said as he licked his lips.

You glared at him.

"Arrgh, when I get out of here, I will cook you in that pot instead!" You yelled.

The beast only laughed. He walked toward your cell as you backed away. "The only chance of having that happen is nothing, so if you excuse me I will be adding spices to your dinner. He he."

He went back to his work. You sat there on the floor of your cell trying to find a way out. Then that instant a sword as fast as light slashed through the beast cutting him in half. Blood sputtered everywhere. You looked at the figure that killed the boiler man. He was short and wore black. You stared in surprise. The man took the keys off the beasts belt and unlocked your cell.

"Uhh.."

"No time for talking. Hurry."

The figure grabbed your hand and brought you up the stairs. You looked around, there were dead bodies of demons everywhere. Blood was all over the floor and walls. You ran as the figure pulled you behind him. You were then joined by three others.

"Got the girl?" One of them asked the person that was pulling you.

"Yea, I think its her. I found her in the boiler room." The man said.

All four of you ran into a portal and all of a sudden you were in an office. A toddler suddenly appeared before you.

"Good job guys, you got the girl." The toddler said.

Your face was blank with confusion. The toddler apologized.

"Sorry, ma'am. How rude of me not to introduce myself, i am Koenma ruler of the spirit world. And these are my top fighters." Koenma said pointing at each person. "This is Yusuke, Kuwabara, Kurama, and Hiei."

You nodded to each one of them.

"You must be, (your name)." Koenma said looking back at you. You finally spoke.

"Yes, my name is (you name)." You said. "Why did you bring me here in the first place?"

"Hmm..i would expect you to be happy that we saved you." Koenma said sarcastically.

"Oh no…hehe." You said waving your arms. "I'm glad but…why did you guys come to rescue me?"

Koenma sweat dropped.

"Aren't you Princess Jileska?" Koenma asked. "Don't you carry the sacred blood ruby?"

You all stood in silence, obviously everyone was confused. You reached in your pocket and felt the ruby that you stole from the king of the town where you used to live. You started backing up to the nearest exit. Koenma started walking towards.

"Are you not the princess?" Koenma asked.

You smiled and started running for your life. Koenma shook his head.

"Hiei, go get her!" Koenma ordered.

Hiei rolled his eyes. You raced through the forest hoping that no one was chasing after you. You look back and saw nothing but trees. You smile and turn your head to look forward. You banged into something hard and rubbed our head. You looked up. It was the person who saved you, Hiei.

"You're not going anywhere, baka." Hiei said.

"No one is going to make me hand over this crystal!" You yelled.

You stand up and start running, but suddenly Hiei caught and started carrying you back to Koenma's office. You started banging on him.

"Let go of me! I swear you'll pay for this!" You shout.

"Hn. Just shut up and stay still." Hiei said.

You stopped moving and waited until you were back at Koenma's office. Hiei put you down and you stood once again in front of Koenma, You were embarrassed because everyone was shaking their heads at you.

"Well that was stupid." You heard Yusuke. Your hand made a fist.

"Now listen you…"

"Let's stop this nonsense already!" Koenma interrupted. All eyes were on him now. "Now, who ever you are, we won't hurt you. We just want you to answer a few questions. Now, are you the princess or not?"

You shook your head. "No…I'm not."

"Okay then…Do you have the Blood ruby by any chance?" Koenma asked.

You stood silent for a while. You then reached into your pocket and pulled out the ruby from your pocket. Everyone's eyes widened. Koenma suddenely smiled.

"Alright! Good, now just hand it over please." Koenma said extending a hand.

You quickly put the ruby in your pocket. "No way! I found this crystal and its mine!"

"Do you even know what that is? And you probably didn't even find it, you stole it." Koenma said.

"I don't care, I'm keeping it." You said protectively.

"Ugh, I don't have time for this! Fine, as long as you're here then, I can't let you leave until you hand that ruby over." Koenma said. He went back to his desk and pressed a red button. "Botan? Yes, can you come here, it's an emergency. Good, I'll be expecting you."

Like I said, as long as you're here, you'll have to stay over for the night."

"Fine, it's better than sleeping on the streets." You said.

As soon as you said that, a blue haired girl came flying into the office. She looked around the room cheerfully.

"Ooh, hello everyone!" She said. "What's the emergency Koenma?"

"Botan, this is (y/n). (y/n), this is Botan. She'll be helping you setting up your room and giving you your clothes. Be careful Botan, she's a real hard one."

"No worries, Koenma. Wow, is she filthy." Botan said.

"Well, it's getting late. We can settle this later. Good night everyone. Meet here in the morning."

"Everyone is dismissed, except you Hiei. Stay here."

Everyone left and it was just you, Koenma, Botan, and Hiei. Koenma started whispering something into Hiei's ear. Hiei glanced at you and you looked at him back. He then quickly looked back at Koenma and glared at him.

"You have to do it Hiei." Koenma said forcefully.

"Fine." Hiei said rather disgusted.

You felt a tap on your shoulder and saw Botan carrying some towels and a robe.

"You have to take a bathm (y/n). No offense, but you really smell bad. Here are some towels and here's a robe for you to wear. Umm, there's another room through that door over there, go ahead then." She said handing you some towels.

"Umm, okay." You said as you walked toward the other room into the bathroom.

[Regular POV]

The shower started. Botan turned to Hiei.

"So, what did Koenma say? I saw the look on your face." Botan laughed.

"Shut up. I have to watch that baka sleep tonight, make sure she doesn't go running off again." Hiei said dissapointed.

"Oh don't worry. It'll be okay. What harm could a girl like that do? Plus, she looks injured, it's not like she going to get up and start running." Botan joked.

Hiei just brushed past her.

"She already did." Hiei said leaving Botan in utter silence.

[your POV]

You stepped out of the shower wrapping a towel around your body. As you looked in the mirror you saw blood stains on the towel. You were bleeding. You walked back into Koenma's office. Botan and Hiei both looked at you. Blushing, hiei turned away. Botan gasped, there was blood all over your towel. You started feeling a little dazed, you were sweating and you couldn't keep your balance.

"Oh my goodness!" Botan yelled helping you from not limping. You then stumble and fall to the ground.

[regular POV]

"She's fainted! Must have been from all the blood she's lost! Hiei help me into her room and onto her bed!" Botan said lifting the body up.

Hiei went to help and carried you to your bed. Botan took out a First aid kit out from the closet and took out rolls of cloth.

"The blood seems to be coming from her stomach." Botan said.

Botan moved the towel ends so that your stomach was showing, there was a large cut across your stomach that was still seeping out blood. Botan quickly took a rol of cloth and wrapped it around your stomach. Hiei turned the other way so he wouldn't see. Then Botan changed you into your robe and wrapped a towel around your head.

"There. She'll be better in the morning. I'm going to bed. Make sure you watch her, Hiei." Botan said putting away the kit. "Good night."

She turned off the light and left the room. Hiei stood in the moonlight staring at your body. Hn. She looks better when she's not so bloody and covered with dirt. Hiei shook the idea out of his head and quickly glanced somewhere else. Then he saw a glint on the corner of his eye. It was the Blood ruby on a string around your neck.

[your POV]

"He he he, I've got it at last!" You hid the ruby in your pocket for safe keeping and started running like hell. Then you were surrounded by soldiers.

"Surrender young theif, or we will kill you." A soldier said.

"Yea right." You took out a gun and started shooting like crazy at the soldiers. You started running over the soldiers but you missed one. He took out his sword and slashed it right through your stomach. He put the end of his sword to your neck.

"Where is it?" He demanded.

"I don't know what the hell you're talking about, bastard!" You said as you slapped the sword end aside leaving you hand scarred from the sharp edge.

"AHH." Your eyes widened and you were in a cold sweat.

Your hand was grabbed by Hiei's trying to control you from slapping him in the face. You sat up in your bed. Hiei let go of your hand and you put it around your neck.

"What h-happened?" You said shocked.

"You were dreaming. I couldn't stand you tossing and turning in your bed so much." Hiei said annoyed.

You grabbed him on the shoulders and started crying.

"This jewel is a curse! Why did I have to take it? I dread every night because I am always dreaming about it. They can't stop!" You said starting to shake Hiei. He was really getting scared.

You were crying so hard then suddenely you tried to get out of bed but instead stumbled and landed right on top of Hiei. You stopped crying and your eyes were wide open, so were Hiei's. Your lips were only an inch away from his. Both of you turned red. You were on top of Hiei for a few seconds. Hiei quickly picked you up off of him and onto your bed.

"Look, just go back to sleep. We can't do anything about it now…Wait until Koenma comes back in the morning." Hiei said starting to turn his original color.

"Yea…you're right…" You said a little slowly.

You turn around and pull the covers up to your chin. You slowly started falling asleep.

Hiei returned to original spot in the corner of the room, never taking his eyes off of you. He too slowly started falling asleep after knowing that you were sound asleep already.
