Chapter 4- Pity or Temptation?

"Botan, it's n-not what it l-looks like." Kurama stuttered. Botan just frowned

"Oh, yea? Well, when I came I saw you two staring at that poor girl's…err...umm…chest! Hiei, I'm so disappointed in you! And Kurama, I wouldn't expect this kind of behavior from someone like you!" Botan yelled.

Hiei stood up. He had a serious expression on his face.

"Calm down, Botan. Kurama was just wrapping a new cloth around ___'s stomach. It started bleeding. Plus, we saw a wolf tattoo on ____'s chest." Hiei said pointing.

Botan hesitantly walked over to you and peered at your chest. Her eyes widened as she saw the wolf image.

"Could she be a demon?" Botan asked.

"It is a possibility." Kurama stated. "I wonder what powers she holds."

"Well, if that's the case, then we'll have to bring this to Koenma. Tomorrow." Botan explained. "Well, we all better get a good night's sleep. It's already very late."

Botan waved before she exited through Kurama's bedroom door. There was a silence for a few seconds. Then Hiei also stood up and started walking out.

"Hiei, you can't just leave ____ here. You are her guardian." Kurama reminded him.

"Hn. I don't care about her. You watch her tonight, I'm going to sleep." Hiei said.

Kurama sighed. He took your shirt and started getting your arms into the sleeves. He then slipped it around your body and straightened it out (drools). Once Kurama had you dressed, he carried you bridal style into your room. He laid you down and pulled the covers over your body.

"Good night Hiei." Kurama said softly.

Hiei, who was sitting in the corner, didn't say a word.

The next morning…

You woke up a little earlier than everyone else the next morning. Rubbing your eyes, you looked around the room.

"What happened last night?"

Then you saw Hiei sleeping in the corner. Out of curiosity and walked over to Hiei. You bent down and observed him as he slept.

"How does he keep his hair up like that?"

Your hand was inches away from Hiei's hair, when you suddenenly felt a hand grab your wrist. This caught you by surprise. Hiei's eyes opened. He glared at you the minute he saw you.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

You shook your hand out of his grasp. You started rubbing them to get the blood back in them. You looked at Hiei and stood up.

"Geez, I was just…forget it." You said as you started heading out the door. Then you stopped for a second and sturned around. "By the way, I think I should really tell you this. I had this weird dream last night…"

Hiei's eyes widened a little. (Hiei's thoughts) The curse…

"It was weird, you and Kurama were like ripping off my shirt or something, I dunno. Anyway, I'm hungry, I'm gonna eat."

As you left, Hiei stood there, a little flustered.

Morning everyone!" You said cheerfully as you walked into Yusuke's kitchen. Everyone was on the couch watching t.v., as Yusuke's mother prepared breakfast. You decided to sit down too.

"Hey, Botan. Morning." You said lazily.

"Ohh, ___. You're awake. I need you to come with us right now to Koenma's office. There is something that we…umm…obseved about you, and we need answers."

You nodded, though you were a little confused. Botan turned off the t.v. and called for every that they could leave.

"Everyone up?" Botan checked. "Where's Hiei?"

A few minutes later, Hiei comes down the stairs into the family room.

"You didn't have to wait for me."

"Well come on! We have to leave ASAP." Botan said.

You all stepped outside the apartment. Yusuke was the last.

"We're going ma. See you later." Yusuke said before closing the door.

"Wait! What about-" It was too late, you all were already outside. "…Breakfast."

In Koenma's office…

"Umm, ____. We all believe, that you have some kind of…umm…sign or tattoo on your body, is that correct?"

You nodded to Koenma slowly.

"How do you all know?" You asked, of course, how could anyone see since it's located in the middle of your bosom.

Everyone exchanged nervous glances. There was a silence in the air for a moment. Kurama decided to be the one to explain.

"____, last night, you were bleeding uncontrollably around your stomach area. Hiei and I thought it was best for us to wrap a cloth around your stomach. And as we did, we saw that wolf tattoo."

You were silent, thinking for a second. Then suddenly, you glared at Hiei.

"Hiei! YOU TOOK OFF MY SHIRT?!" You yelled.

Apparently, no one expected this. Hiei backed away.

"Why in all hells would I want to take off your shirt?!" He shouted back.

"I don't know. Maybe because you are a perverted bastard!"

"Please, you guys, let's not start again." Botan said appearing inbetween the both of you. Botan turned to you.

"Are you a wolf demon, ___?" Botan asked seriously.

Everyone's eyes were on you now. You looked around, and nodded slowly.

"Yes…my mother was a wolf demon, and my father was a human." You said.

"Why didn't you tell us before?" Botan asked.

"I don't know. I didn't think it was right." You said.

"___, do you have any powers?" Koenma asked.

You turned to look at him. "Yes, I have a few."

Koenma started to smile now. "Ohh good. Because you all have another assignment. There seems to be a demon that has escaped to the human world. I don't know how he has gotten here, but from my research, he is very very powerful. ____, since you are a demon too, well sort of, you can go along with Urameshi. They could use another fighter."

Koenma started walking you to a portal that led you to the demon's where abouts. While you were all walking, you decided to ask him a question you had on your mind.

"Koenma, what about the Blood ruby?"

"Ahh, yes. The Blood ruby. For some unknown reason, it isn't granting us any wishes. I have tried everything for it to bring Genkai back. But I guess there is some kind of special ritual or something for it to function." Koenma stated.

You all walked a bit more, and soon you were standing in front of a portal. Koenma stood in front of all of you.

"Well, you guys…good luck."

Koenma stepped out of the way, and made way for all of you to step in the portal.

Instantly, you were brought to a forest…a burnt down forest. You all looked around cautiously, watching for any movement.

"It's too quiet." Kurama said.

"Yea, where is this so called `powerful demon'." Kuwabara said.

After a few seconds of waiting…

"Watch out!" Hiei said pushing you out of the way.

Suddenly, the ground where you stood was totally burned. You looked behind you and saw a giant beast who breathed fire. Everyone spilt up and attacked him from all angles. Everyone was hitting it all at the same time. But to the beast, they were like annoying little mosquitoes. Yusuke his spirit gun once he couldn't blow anymore punches at the beast. It only cause a burn on the beast. Kuwabara used his sword and swung at the beast. You observed them, seeing that the beast had only cuts from their blows. Then you saw Hiei run on top of the beasts face, he took his katana, and shoved it in one of the beasts eyes. It started waving it's arms around and family slapped Hiei with one of his gigantic hands. Hiei sreamed in pain.

"Hiei!" You yelled.

He was unconscious. The beast threw him on the floor. Raging with anger, you had a bow and arrow appear in your hands. You took an arrow and pointed it at the beasts heart.

"…please work." You prayed.

You released the arrow and it flew through the air. As it came closer to the beasts body, it grew bigger and bigger. The beast didn't notice the arrow coming, and it flew into his chest. The beast stopped attacking, and stood still for a while. He dropped his weapon, and collasped. Right away, you ran to Hiei. Everyone else follower you. You knelt next to Hiei, and started tearing.

"…Hiei." You said laying his head on your lap.

Koenma's office…

"So he took a blow to the head, eh?" Koenma said.

"Just give him some rest and he'll be just fine." Koenma said. He turned to you. "On a lighter note, good job, ____. You killed the beast for us."

"Yea, she was stronger than all of us put together!" Kuwabara said.

You smiled, but then looking at Hiei, your smile faded.

Yusuke lifted up Hiei and put one of his hands on his shoulder.

"Well, let's go then. Ma probably has lunch for us or something." Yusuke said. "See ya."

You all stepped in another portal leading to Yusuke's Apartment. You and others instantly appeared infront of Yusuke's home. He knocked on the door.

"Ohh my goodness! Hurry, put hiim in the guest room." Yusuke's mom said right awau letting you all in.

Everyone walked up stairs and Yusuke reached the guest room. He laid Hiei on the bed and backed away.

"Come on everyone, I smell lunch." Yusuke said.

Everyone followed, you were the last. You stayed staring at Hiei for a second. You observed him as he slept silently. He looks so different when he's not yelled and screaming at me. You ran your fingers through his hair. Hiei… Without thinking, your lips were placed on his. For a few seconds, you were like that. You finally parted and stood watching him for a moment. Suddenly, your eyes were wide open Why did I DO THAT?? You wondered to yourself. You turned red. But then, you stared at him lovingly again. You started to leave, when you felt a hand grip on your wrist. Hiei was sitting up leaning on his elbow.

Hie's eyes were open and for once, he wasn't glaring at you. He pulled you closer to him and his lips touched yours. You didn't expect this, but you closed your eyes anyway. But you seemed to like the feeling of his soft lips on yours. After a few seconds, you both parted again. There was a silence of both of you staring at eachother. Hiei released your hand.

"You better go." You heard Hiei whisper.

"Yea…I better go."

You walk out of Hiei's room. Hiei stared at you as you left. He traced his lips with his fingers. ____…
