Kiru was awakened by loud banging and yelling happening from downstairs. `What the hell? They know that I am sleeping.' She thought as she stood and walked down the stairs, rubbing her eye to rid it of sleep which wasn't helping. She entered the living room, to find Kurama and Riku in a big argument and Blaze and Yusuke were wrestling on the ground shouting cusswords at each other while they ran into objects in the room. Kuwabara was rolling on the ground laughing at Yusuke and Hiei was sitting on the windowsill. Kiru grabbed her aching head and sat on the bottom step, her ears pounding from all the access noise that she did not appreciate. Hiei instantly appeared next to her and asked, “What's wrong little one?”

“My head aches.” She replied softly and miraculously the noise stopped instantly. She looked up to see Hiei glaring at everyone. Kurama rushed over to her followed by Riku.

“Are you okay Kiru.” He asked and Kiru rolled her eyes from the question since she was just asked that, which rewarded her with sudden pain.

“Oh no. Is it one of them again?” Riku asked and Kiru made a small sound which she took as a yes. “Okay. I'll be back okay?” Kiru made another sound and Riku walked up the stairs, not running so she didn't make that much noise. She came back down a few minutes later with a large, worn, brown leather book and took it into the kitchen where she was followed in by Kurama.

“What's wrong with Kiru?” Kurama asked his eyes containing a golden tint.

“Don't worry, control yourself fox boy. She is just in some need for a potion, okay?” Riku asked as she pulled some things necessary for the potion she was concocting. Five minutes later Riku left the kitchen with a glass and handed it to Kiru who took a sip and grimaced. “Drink it or I will shove it down your throat.” Riku stated calmly but Kurama snapped his head to her but the look in her eyes told him she wouldn't do something like that. Kiru sipped the drink and shakily stood, gripping an uncomplaining Hiei's shoulder for support. He helped her to the kitchen so she could have some more. When they were through the doorway Riku smiled and said, “I think they look so cute together, don't you?” She asked Kurama with a small smile.

Kurama looked at her like she was insane for a while before his face melted into a content smile, “Yes, I have to agree. They bother carry the burden of being a forbidden child but I must say Kiru had a better life then Hiei. She does not know what it is like to lose a sibling.”

Riku turned to Kurama and smirked, “Not true. As I recall a certain brother of hers got shot by a hunter and she was miserable for a week before she decided to go see Koenma and threaten his life to get her brother back. That was when she found out that your spirit did not enter Spirit World. That week was the most miserable I have ever seen her.” Riku said as she walked over to where Yusuke and Blaze sat breathing hard and glaring at each other. Riku lifted Blaze up and pointed to the stairs. Blaze glared at her sister and returned it to Yusuke once before she stalked up the stairs. Yusuke smirked until Riku leaned over to him and whispered something in his ear. When she moved and walked towards the kitchen she was smirking as Yusuke turned a pale white that made Kuwabara laugh silently. Riku opened the door to the kitchen and saw Kiru sitting there all alone smiling slightly.

“You okay Kiru?” Riku asked softly.

“Yeah, I am better now.” Kiru smiled a true smile before she stood and walked passed her to the stairs, “I am going back to sleep. That damn potion wears a girl out.” She disappeared up the stairs while Riku stared after her in shock.

“What's up Riku?” Kurama asked when he noticed Riku's face.

“I could have sworn I get saw her smile.” Riku answered still stunned.

Kurama whipped his head back to the stairs before a small smile settled on his lips. “It seems that thinks are going faster than we imagined.” He looked at the clock and noticed how late it was getting, “We need to get home. Tell Kiru to go to my house when she wakes up. I need to talk to her. Here's my address.” He wrote it down and handed it to Riku who nodded as he and the boys that were present walked out the door.

Kiru woke up and it was dark outside. She got up and took a shower and dried off quickly. She dressed in a black V-neck long sleeved shirt and a short black mini skirt. She put on a silver pendant of a fox and silver rings on her fingers. She pulled black socks on that went to her thighs and black combat boots. She brushed her hair out and walked down the stairs to see Blaze on the couch in black sweat pants and a red spaghetti strap flipping through the TV channels since Riku told her how to use it. “Hey, Riku wasn't sure you would wake up anytime soon. She didn't get much sleep last night so she turned in very early and told me to give that to you when you woke.” Blaze used the remote to point at a piece of paper resting on the table at the end of the couch. “It's Kurama's address and he said he wanted to talk to you when you woke up.” She turned back to flicking through the channels again.

Kiru nodded and asked, “What time is it?”

“It's about six thirty.” Was Blaze's reply and Kiru nodded again, walking out the door. She walked for ten minutes before she stopped before the house that matched the address on the paper. Kiru walked up the steps and knocked on the door.

The door was answered by a woman with long black hair. “Hello.” She said in a sweet voice.

“Hello, I am looking for Kurama Minamino.” Kiru said,

“There is no one here by that name but maybe you can ask my son Shuichi.” The woman told Kiru.

“Oops, your right. I am looking for Shuichi. Kurama is a nickname I gave him and it is so hard to call him by his regular name.” Kiru smiled politely and Mrs. Minamino invited her in.

“Shuichi!” she called upstairs before turning back to Kiru, “What's your name dear?” She asked as she sat down on the couch.

Kiru politely bowed and said, “My name is Kiru, Mrs. Minamino.”

“Oh, please. Call me Shori.” Shori said as Kurama descended the stairs. He rushed to Kiru and checked her over.

“I'm fine Kurama.” Kiru said to calm Kurama down. When she said his name his gaze shifted from Kiru to his mother who was smiling politely.

“So Shuichi, is this your girlfriend?” Shori asked politely.

Kurama blushed red and answered, “No mother. Kiru is a very good friend.”

“Why were you looking her over? Were you hurt Kiru?” Shori asked turning her attention to Kiru.

“No. I have been very sick lately. I came to tell Kurama that I am better now.”

“Oh. Okay, `Kurama'.” Shori said as she stood. “Well, I need to go upstairs.”

“Mother, I would like to take Kiru somewhere, is that alright?” Kurama asked. Shori nodded as she walked upstairs and Kurama grabbed Kiru's hand, pulling her out the door. They were walking down the street towards the park and Kurama said, “What did you tell her about my name?”

“Calm down red, I told her it was a nickname.” Kiru replied as she fiddled with her necklace, “Where are we going?” She asked as they arrived at the park.

“Koenma has some urgent news. He told me to bring you.” Kurama replied as a portal popped up. Kiru eyed it warily before she walked in followed by Kurama. They arrived in the hallway outside of Koenma's office. They walked into the room to see just Hiei there and Kurama glanced at him.

“Koenma said to get Riku and Blaze.” Hiei told Kurama who nodded and exited the room. Kiru walked over to the window Hiei was sitting on and sat down across from him.

“Hey Hiei.” Kiru smiled but Hiei's face was grim while he looked out of the window. Her smile disappeared and she leaned forward. Her hand gently grabbed his chin and turned him to face her, “What's wrong Hiei?” Hiei's eyes were worried and he grabbed her hand and held it in his. Her gaze went from his eyes to their hands and back to his eyes and she smiled at him again. They heard footsteps coming down the hall and Hiei released her hand and she disappeared and reappearing in the corner a second later.

Koenma entered his office a few seconds later and was followed by a few ogres. He shooed them away and sat down at his desk. Another few seconds and Kurama came in followed by Riku and Blaze. They sat down on the sofa and waited for Koenma to speak. He ruffed through some papers before he set them down and looked grimly at Riku, Blaze, and Kiru. “There is no easy way to say this but to come right out with it. Koharu was never killed. His spirit never entered Reikai.” Riku and Blaze both paled and Kiru's eyes widened.

`That's not possible. I killed him. I swear I did. Haven killed him herself and Hell if she left anything.' Kiru thought to herself, her thoughts so jumbled that Hiei had a hard time finding the one she was thinking at the moment. He finally found her reliving the scene where she released her fox. The sweet pain as Haven exited her being, the fierce hatred that flowed through Kiru and Haven and at last, the smell of burnt flesh as Koharu was gone from their lives forever. He exited her mind and looked at her out of the corner of his eyes. She was huddled in the corner, holding herself as she shivered, her eyes closed tight. In an instant Hiei was next to her, his arms wrapped around her as her shivering lessened slightly.

Riku too was shivering with Kurama holding her. Blaze stood still and asked, “How?” Her orange eyes were dull and they held fear.

“I have no idea.” Koenma replied. They sat in silence for a few minutes before all at once the girls straightened looking completely serious.

“We'll deal with him Koenma.” Riku stated.

“Oh yes, we will deal with him.” Kiru said, her eyes turning dull also. Kurama looked at his sister worriedly but she and the others girls were walking out the room. Kurama turned to look at Hiei before they both followed the girls. They were in the hallway conversing with Botan. “We need a portal to Ningenkai.” Kiru was saying but Botan was shaking her head saying she couldn't. Instantly she found herself against the wall with a dagger at her throat.

“Kiru said to give us a portal so you better give us that damn portal or it will be your head.” Blaze snapped. Botan nodded meekly and a portal appeared behind them. Blaze released Botan and followed Kiru and Riku into the portal.

Kurama and Hiei meanwhile had been watching the scene in shock. They soon recovered and went to help Botan up. “What's up with them?” She asked as soon as she was on her feet again.

“They just found out someone that tormented them had survived when Kiru had killed him.” Kurama replied and Botan nodded before the boys walked into the portal. They were transported into the living room of the girl's house in Ningenkai and they felt the girl's energies in their respective room. The boys exchanged worried glances before they headed upstairs. Kurama went to check on Riku and Blaze while Hiei went to check on Kiru. As he got nearer to her door he began to hear singing.

// You don't remember me

But I remember you

I lie awake and try so hard

Not to think of you

But though we can't decide what we dream

But dream I do

I believe in you

I'll give up everything just to find you

I have to be with you

To live

To breathe

You're taking over me//

He reached to door and opened it silently and saw Kiru sitting on her windowseat, hugging her knees to her chest. Her eyes appeared to be watching outside but Hiei could tell she wasn't looking at anything by the way her eyes were unfocused. Her voice was soft and sweet as she sang,

//Have you forgotten all I know

And all we had

You saw me mourning my love for you

And touched my hand

I knew you loved me then

I believe in you

I'll give up everything just to find you

I have to be with you

To live

To breathe

You're taking over me

I look in the mirror and see your face

If I look deep enough

So many things inside that are just like you

Are taking over//

Hiei was amazed by her singing that he did not notice Kurama appear next to him for a few moments. He turned to the fox to find him watching his sister with soft eyes that held sorrow for what his sister was going through. Kurama noticed Hiei watching while they listened to the sad song but Hiei heard Kurama's thoughts clearly, `She has been through so much and no one knows what happened. It's sad that she keeps her troubles to herself.' Hiei nodded and turned back to Kiru to hear the song and try to decifer a hidden message of sorrow.

//I believe in you

I'll give up everything just to find you

I have to be with you

To live

To breathe

You're taking over me

I believe in you

I'll give up everything just to find you

I have to be with you

To live

To breathe

You're taking over me

Taking over me

You're taking over me

Taking over me

Taking over me//

When she finished Kiru felt two presense in her room and stiffened until she realized it was Hiei and Kurama. She relaxed and turned to face them. “Yes?” She asked her voice just as soft as her song was.

“Are you alright Kiru?” Kurama asked softly as he approached his sister and pulled her into a hug.

“Yes Kura. I am fine.” Kiru replied as she patted Kurama on the back. When he pulled away Kiru gave a small smile that covered her emotions very well. Kurama smiled and asked, “Is it alright if Hiei and I spend the night?” Kiru nodded and replied, “Take some of the guest rooms.” Kurama nodded and left to call his mother.

Kiru turned her head back to the window and watched a raven fly past. “You can't hide them forever.” Hiei said from the wall across from the window. Kiru turned and gave him a questioning look. “Your emotions. You can't hide them forever.”

Kiru smiled sadly and said, “I can try.” Then she shook her head and stood from the window seat. “How could he have survived Hiei? No one can survive that technique. You know that.” Hiei walked forward and wrapped his arms around the confused kitsune.

“I don't know but I swear that he will not hurt you again.” Kiru smiled a true smile and turned in Hiei's arms to hug him back. A few seconds later they released each other and Kiru yawned. “Go to bed little one. You need to rest.”

Kiru scowled playfully at Hiei and said, “Little? You are only an inch or two taller than me.” Hiei chuckled and left the room. Kiru walked to her drawers and pulled out a pair of black mesh shorts and a red tank top and changed into them. Then quietly she slipped into bed and fell into a deep sleep.
