Labeled Insane

Part 3: Treatment

Shuuichi stared out the window in his 'cell'. It was a room but to him he felt like he was on house arrest or something except it wasn't his. He was stuck here until he was deemed necessarily sane. Well he decided to give the doctor a hard time by giving him the silent treatment. He's done it before after going berserk one time. The people placed him in a rehabilitation center. He stayed silent the whole time and didn't speak since he didn't know anyone. He had a doctor there that was treating him but he still didn't speak.

After about six months, the doctor told him that they were going to release him since he'd been refusing treatment. So he went with that. He was placed in an orphanage where they hoped someone would adopt a 'troubled' child like him as the caretaker put it. They couldn't wait to get rid of him. It didn't come soon enough though because when the people wanted to adopt him they changed their minds as soon as they found him out. Well isn't that grand?

A few years later he didn't want to stay there longer when they didn't want him. Why stay if no one wanted him? Shuuichi was pretty smart for his age and knew a few more words. Since he had nothing else to do he studied. While there he would learn things that children his age wouldn't know yet. In doing so he ran away with no money except the few clothes he had in his bag and on his back. People found him stealing and he was arrested on a few accounts until someone actually said that they'd get him. So he was finally adopted.

It wasn't a life he wanted but it seemed perfect for him. He did everything he was instructed to do and it was not that great. At least he made it this far in life. It's not like he cared about the future. He wondered if they'd let him go if he stayed silent for a few more months. He sighed and just lied back down. He had nowhere else to go and he wasn't trusted enough to move around. He wondered why the doctor was even bothering to do something with him.

The door opened he noted that it was him again. He didn't want to do another session. He was too tired.

"Hey, kid get up, I know you're awake," Kurama said. Shuuichi complied since he didn't want to be forced to do anything. Like being force-fed isn't really appealing to him at the moment. It was then that he realized that he never did eat his dinner. The tray was in front of him. "Eat." So Shuuichi did. Not like he had anything better to do.

After he was finished Kurama began. But Shuuichi still said nothing.

"Is there anything you want to talk about?" Kurama asked. It was standard procedure. But yet again Shuuichi said nothing except stare out the window.

"Fine. But know this, even if your refuse treatment they won't release you if they need to fill in someone else." He said before leaving with the empty tray of food.

----------------------

Kurama sat in his office. He still needed to finish some paperwork and sorting out these 'stupid' files, as he liked to call them. At least he had one refusing treatment. But this has happened before. He got people to talk…wait, scratch that…one of his other patients got them to talk. Hmm…he'd wait a few more weeks before using Plan B. If Plan A doesn't work, which he's working on right now, then he'd switch. He is no ordinary psychiatrist. Right now he needed to finish these reports and then get some needed sleep. Why he needed to work seven days was beyond him. He checked the clock to see it was already ten. He needed to get some sleep so he'd be ready for tomorrow.

----------------------

Kurama came back and looked in the room. It was already morning he was sure that the kid would be up at this hour. Besides he had to eat. The redhead was awake in the room trying to escape. Since Kurama was in that area of expertise until he hid out he knew every little important detail. He sighed before stepping into the room and grasping the wrist making Shuuichi stop what he was trying to do. He grabbed the pick and sighed.

"You're too slow," Yoko said while doing it himself. Shuuichi was surprised at this turn of event. He finally had a chance… "Don't even think about it." Of course it would work if the doctor didn't know his every thought. "Look kid I'm not like any other doctor that's stupid enough to even let you think of escape. It just takes the fun out of it really if there's no challenge."

Once again Shuuichi doesn't say anything except just sit there and look at the speaker. Yoko looked annoyed.

"I've dealt with silent people like you. And I have ways of making them talk. Besides anyone could only stay silent for so long."

Shuuichi still stayed silent.

"I guess I have to tell your father of this little progress I'm making."

"I have no father." Shuuichi hissed out.

Bingo!

His hand shot to his mouth covering it. He glared at the doctor's smug expression. Shuuichi scooted back as the doctor leaned in on him.

"Ah so you actually do have a voice. Here I was thinking you were just mute and needed to use sign language." Yoko said with a smirk now planted on his face. His eyes studied his patient intently, roaming to its hearts content. Shuuichi didn't like that look. He'd seen that look plenty of times and he never did come out the good side of it. He glared even fiercer at Yoko.

"Don't look at me like that!" Shuuichi demanded. Yoko just went a little closer.

"Do you speak only under pressure? Or just plain embarrassment?"

Shuuichi just didn't say anything. His hand reached for an object to knock out the doctor with. He swung but his destination never reached as it was caught and taken away from him. Yoko placed the object back on the desk. His grip on his patient's wrist was still apparent. Shuuichi fought to let go but Yoko never relented. Not that he could since everything he tried was always futile. The doctor placed a kiss on his palm as the amber eyes looked into his in amusement. He gulped nervously. For once he didn't fight back.

Soon those amber eyes were about an inch away from him. He tried to bury himself deeper in the pillow but it didn't help. He never did like that grin on his face. Yoko leaned closer until no space was in between their lips. Shuuichi froze for a moment until he came back to his senses and attempted to push the other away. But it was futile as always. He felt the sting of tears threatening to spill over his eyes as his mind produced memories, memories he wished to forget.

Yoko suddenly pulled away as he felt shuddering beneath him. He looked right into emerald eyes and saw that he was about to cry. He got off and muttered a 'sorry' before taking the tray and leaving. Shuuichi lied there motionless for a moment. He was thinking. He could've done something more but his body didn't let him. He sighed and sat up a bit and looked around the quiet room. It was nerving and it was only the morning. He decided to just fall back to sleep. Besides his nightly sessions would continue tonight.

----------------------

Yoko got irritated with today. He came to work with a major headache and was dealing with complicated patients. At least he was on his last one and this was the easiest one to deal with since she's been in her right mind so far. The doors opened and he looked in that direction stood a woman in her twenties with brown hair and hazel eyes. A smirk was planted on her face.

"Looking tired. Wanna go home and skip this session? I heard that you had a new patient that didn't want to talk," she said while taking the seat.

"Yeah well he's talking now Shizuru and I do not wish to play with your stupid games tonight," Yoko said to the woman.

"Well, well aren't we cranky today. Let me guess you jumped your new patient?"

'Why is it that she always knows my problems. I feel like the patient here,' Yoko thought. He gave her a glare as a response. She frowned and pouted.

"Aw, does doctor not want to play anymore?" She just received another glare. "Alright fine. Why don't you bring him tomorrow? I'm sure he must hate being cramped up in your house all day." She stood up and walked out seeing it pointless to stay. He began thinking.

----------------------

Shuuichi was woken up rudely again for probably the fourth time in a row. Actually he wasn't counting. He glared at the smirking doctor that seemed to enjoy torturing him. He had completely forgotten this morning's event between them. Shuuichi wondered how Yoko was even hired. A plate of food was in front of him again and he took it while eating since he couldn't get out of the room and get a snack, then sneak out since Yoko was out for the whole day. Yoko took the tray when he was done and set it on the table.

"So are you ready to talk?" Yoko asked. Standard procedure to talk about problems concerning the patient. This time Shuuichi answered.

"Do I have to?" Shuuichi asked.

"Yeah, if you wanna get out of here quick enough so I could say you're mentally sane to make it out there." Yoko responded. For some reason, he didn't want to do that.

"What is there to talk about anyways?"

"Whatever."

"What's that?"

"Anything you want to talk about. Usually a patient would always say whatever the hell's wrong with them."

"Okay."

It became silent for a moment before Shuuichi decided to voice out something. It was probably confidential but then again it was talking. So he was just obeying.

"Why did they hire you?" Shuuichi asked. Yoko raised a brow at this then thought if he should tell the kid or not. Then he remembered his impoliteness. He sighed.

"My friend dared me to become a shrink instead of paying him a huge amount I know I would never make. But he's been hinting that I'd be good at this stuff since I acted like a counselor in high school. That manipulative bastard!" Yoko responded. He was still pissed at Kuronue about that. But he figured it was sooooooooooooooo much better to help out the community. A community of delinquents.

"You're still here?"

"What is this twenty questions to drive the shrink crazy?"

"No, you said to talk. I am. -ouch-" Shuuichi clutched his aching head that just got smacked with a clipboard. He glared at the doctor. "What was that for?"

"For being a smart ass. Today's session is over. Sleep up. Tomorrow you're spending the whole day with me." Yoko stated with a smirk at the baffled look on his patient before exiting the room. Oh yes, it was going to be a long torturous day tomorrow. At least he wouldn't be the only one.
