Chapter 2

Kurama opened his eye and groggily sat up. Kurama whipped his eyes with the back of his hand and he felt wetness on it. *I must have cried myself to sleep. How can Karasu still be alive? I saw him die. He said he would be back but, no time soon I hope.* Kurama was so lost in thought that he didn't hear the soft knock on his window.

Hiei knocked again but, a little louder this time. *He must be deep in thought. I wonder what he is thinking about. Maybe he is thinking about me. Probably not. He's got better things to think about.* Hiei thought. Hiei knocked again but, a lot louder than the times before.

Kurama jumped and looked at the window completely losing his train of thought. Kurama still looked as if he had been crying. *The fox has been crying. Why didn't I notice it before?* Hiei thought as Kurama opened the window. Hiei climbed into Kurama's room. Hiei closed the window and turned around to face Kurama. "Why where you crying fox?" Hiei asked. "I wasn't crying." Kurama replied nervously. "Don't lie to me fox. I want to know why you were crying." Hiei said angrily.

Kurama fiddled with one of his silky crimson forelocks. "Fox." Hiei said warningly. Kurama sighed. "Ok Hiei. I'll tell you." Kurama said as he motioned for Hiei to come and sit beside him. Hiei walked over and sat beside Kurama on his bed. "Well, when I came home and came up to my room, it was pitch black and the window was open. I knew something was very wrong when I saw the window open because I had closed it before I went to school. I stood near my bed facing my desk. I felt a familiar ki and I spun around. Karasu was standing there and he grabbed me by my waist and told me that he missed me. He even tried to kiss me but I stopped him. Then he left but, told me that he would be back." Kurama said looking Hiei in the eye.

Hiei thought for a moment. "Did he say when he was coming back?" he asked. Kurama shook his head. "No he didn't but, it could be any time any place." Kurama replied. "Well, I could stay here for the night, just incase he comes back. He is probably a lot stronger than he used to be. I'll have to make sure he stays dead this time." Hiei said as he stood up and walked over to Kurama's desk chair and sat backwards in it. Kurama smiled to himself. *He's trying to protect me. Well that's different. I think I'm starting to fall for him.* he thought. "What if he comes back to life again?" Kurama asked. "Then I'll kill him to he stays dead." Hiei said as he put his arms on the headrest and laid his head on top of them. "You'll?" Kurama asked rising an eyebrow. "Shut up and go to sleep fox." Hiei said closing his eyes. Kurama changed into his pajamas and turned off the light. He climbed back into bed ant turned to face Hiei. "Good night Hiei." Kurama said closing his eyes. "Night fox." Hiei said.

Karasu stood out side of Kurama's window. He had heard the whole conversation. *Ha! Kill me until I am dead! That baka fire demon thinks he can kill me! Well sorry to disappoint you Hiei, but I can't die! Baka fire demon has developed feelings for my fox! He thinks he can protect my fox from me! He is wrong. Very wrong.* Karasu thought as he disappeared into the night.
