A/N Hello! Another chapter done, and I am really sorry about the long wait. Life kind of got in the way a little. I am getting close to the actual dramatic climax! That's all you get out of me.

Disclaimer- I really want to own everyone (excluding Kuwabara). Unfortunately the plan to steal them must be put on a back burner as my focus has been leaning towards other extracurricular activities.

Warning- Nothing really, maybe some language, kissing, groping, plus references to rape so nothing new.

Chapter Ten

Bad Timing

Hiei leaned into the kiss glad when Hala let herself be gently pushed onto the couch. Hiei's hands found her thighs and slowly slid upward. When she didn't stop him he let them reach the waistline of her panties. She sighed into the kiss and Hiei quickly responded, his manhood stiffening immediately. Gently he tugged her underwear off and pulled them down to her ankles where he ripped off her stubborn shoes.

Hala's arms locked around his neck and pulled him towards her. He focused on undoing his pants and then to lifting her dress off of her completely. He tore his shirt off and they were both completely naked. Hiei gently lifted Hala off the couch and carried her to his bedroom. Both now on his bed, Hiei positioned himself above her, eager to feel her warm embrace around him. Before he took the plunge, he felt her body stiffen beneath him.

"Hala," he gazed questioningly at her. Knowing she would say nothing he gently went inside of her mind, searching for the reason behind her sudden change. He found it. She was still badly hurting from Ghalib's assault and wasn't emotionally ready to be with him, even though he could tell she wanted to. Hiding his frustration magnificently, Hiei moved aside and leaned against the headboard of his bed.

It was Hala's turn to be confused. "Hiei," she whimpered.

Turning to look at her Hiei said, "I want to be with you Hala, so much. But I am not going to do this until you are really ready. If we try anything too soon..." He broke off, taking a deep breath. "If we try anything too soon you may regret it and that is the last thing I want right now."

Hala nodded, knowing Hiei was right. She snuggled into him and just savored the comforting feel of his arms holding her. "I'm slowly moving on Hiei and when I do put this behind me, when I'm ready, I know you'll be waiting for me." Hiei nodded and smiled when she closed her eyes. In minutes her breathing steadied and she was asleep. Deciding she had the right idea, Hiei closed his eyes too, amazed at his ability to control himself like this. Hala really was something special.

Another month passed and both Hiei and Hala remained together, but never intimate. She had progressed but was still unsure. That was when Hiei suggested she take a vacation to take her mind off things.

"That's a great idea Hiei! I have an aunt in Alexandria who could really use some company. And who knows, maybe seeing my homeland again will help me relax and move on with my life." She made plans with her parents and then called her aunt who agreed in less than a minute. She was set to leave in three days.

Hiei spent every night with her, just holding her as she fell asleep. However, when the day came for her to leave, he found that he was damning himself to the deepest pits of Hell for telling Hala to leave. He was extremely moody as he watched her pack.

"Hiei," her soft voice called to him. "Tell me what's wrong." She sat on her bed next to him and gazed into his eyes.

He breathed heavily. "I'm starting to wish you weren't going."

Hala smiled and kissed him on the cheek. "I won't be gone but a week. It'll fly by extremely fast and when I come back, we can try to see if I'm ready to fully be with you. Don't you want that Hiei?"

Hiei thought about it and nodded. Of course he wanted her, he wanted her so badly that it was all he could do just not using his Jagan to make her forget completely about Ghalib and make her do what he wanted. Deep down though, he knew he wouldn't be satisfied. He wanted her to want him and only him. He wanted her to only think about being in his arms. Think only pleasant thoughts when he was with her. "You should go. Don't worry about me. I just haven't really been apart from you since I found you that night and I don't want to be away from you ever again."

Hala gave him a hug and a kiss before saying, "Don't worry, I'll come back. And when I do we have our whole lives to be together and I swear Hiei, I won't ever leave your side again."

He smiled and let her finish packing before going with her to the airport. As soon as she got on that plane he knew what to do. He would go buy her a present and when she came back he would give it to her. He knew what she would want. He set off to buy it, not caring about the price.

Hala slept most of the way to Egypt and when the plane landed she thought to herself, I'm doing this for us Hiei. If I had my way, I would have stayed there, but this is the only way. It's the only way I can truly be yours.

A/N- Okay this was really short, I know. I was kind of drawing a blank for how to do this. I left some mystery about the gift Hiei's going to get Hala and I didn't do lyrics for this one for two reasons. I don't think that it was appropriate for this chapter and I don't think there are any lyrics that would describe this the way I want. But I know what I can do for my next chapter so the pattern was thrown off but I don't care. Thanks to all of those who reviewed and be sure to look for the next chapter which should be longer.
