OK! The eighth chapter! HURRAY! Fun with the plot is coming right up!
Hiei: What the hell are you planning in that demented mind of yours?
::looks around innocently:: Why, whatever are you talking about, Hiei-chan?
Hiei: -_-;;
Anyway, still don't own the characters. Every time I say this, I die a little more inside, so I'm not saying it again!
Two years have gone by and Natalie is up, talking and walking around. She gets into anything and everything the Hiei and Kurama might leave out on accident. She has black hair with matching black fox ears and a tail. Her eyes are wide and have Kurama's green in them.
She's playing outside, chasing after the butterflies that land in Kurama's garden, giggling. Hiei's not far away, watching her closely to make sure she doesn't get hurt. She might not know it yet, but she has both her parents wrapped firmly around her little fingers. Especially Hiei.
"Daddy! Watch this!" The little girl calls to him before jumping into a bush and scattering the hundreds of butterflies resting there.
He chuckles and walks over to pick her up out of the bush, "It's supper time, Natalie. Let's go see what dad's making, ok?"
Natalie hugs him and nods as he carries her inside and into the kitchen, "Hey Kurama.Supper almost ready?"
"It'll be ready in a few minutes. So what'd you two do outside today?" Kurama asks with a smile to their daughter.
She looks up at him with a big smile before listing off everything, "Daddy pushed me on the swing, I ran around in the flowers, and I chased after the butterflies! It's really fun when they're all in a bush and you jump on the bush!"
Kurama chuckles before taking the pot of ramen off the stove and putting some in bowls and putting it on the table with some apple juice for Natalie. She climbs up into the chair and fumbles a little with her chopsticks before munching happily on the ramen. Hiei and Kurama eat their food in comfortable silence while watching their daughter with small smiles.
When they finish, Natalie yawns cutely and Hiei picks her up, "Bedtime, Nat. Let's go get ready."
She nods and lets him help her get into her pajama's and up into bed, "Will you tell me a story, daddy?"
He tucks her in and smiles, "Sure. Which one do you want to hear tonight? You've heard all the ones I have to tell."
"Can you tell me the one about how you and dad met?" Comes the reply after she thinks about it for a little while.
Hiei smiles again and nods before starting on the story. Before he's even half way through it, she's asleep and curled around the stuffed unicorn(1) Hiei got her for her second birthday. He kisses her forehead before leaving her room and going into his and Kurama's.
Without even lifting up his head from his book, Kurama asks, "So what story was it this time?"
"When you and I met. She seems to like that one," He replies before stripping down to his boxers and climbing into bed with him and yawning.
Kurama sets his book on the bedside table and wraps his arms around Hiei's waist, "Good night, Hiei."
"Night, fox."
Outside the house, hidden by the darkness, a figure flits outside one of the windows before slipping in and looking around. Looking around the room, he locates what he's looking for and grabs it before heading back out the window. He dodges past the plants that are guarding the house and heads back to his own house.
The next morning, Hiei is the first to wake up, but with an uneasy feeling. He dashes out of bed and into Natalie's room. Kurama is woken up when Hiei yells for him in a panicking, yet pissed voice. When he gets to Natalie's room, Hiei is kneeling beside her bed holding what looks like a note.
"That fucking bastard...." Hiei mutters as he reads what's written.
Getting worried, Kurama asks, "What's wrong, Hiei? Where's Natalie?"
Hiei hands him the letter and growls, "Yomi has her...."
Eyes narrowing, Kurama reads the note:
Kurama and Hiei,
You two are reading this, then by now you already know that I have your daughter. Call it a compensation for my eyesight, if you will. She'll make a lovely concubine once she's been properly trained. Well, that's a long enough notice. Don't worry, though. I'll tell little Natalie ALL about her fathers...... And how they so heartlessly ABANDONED her on the steps to my castle.
Until we cross paths again,
Yomi.
Kurama growls and tears up the note before heading out the door. Hiei follows close behind and they go into Yomi's lands, killing off any defenses that might have been places to slow their progress. It takes them half the day just to make it up to the castle. They're stopped there by two of Yomi's strongest men.
"The boss said we were to keep you two out at all costs," says one in a gruff voice.
"Well isn't that a surprise," Hiei replies sarcastically.
"You have two choices," Kurama says to them in a dangerous voice. "You can either let us through, or you can die a slow and painful death. your decision."
The two guards look between each other uneasily, but stand their ground. Hiei and Kurama walk towards one each and draw their weapons. Hiei looks his opponent in the eyes and asks, "Any last requests before I slice open your stomache?"
The other just glares and dives toward him, but is sidestepped and kicked in the back. He stumbles before coming back at him. Kurama's oppenent and he just circle each other, waiting for someone to make a move. About the time Hiei slays his opponent and watch Kurama fight his, the second guard finally makes the first move only to be impaled on Hiei's sword after tripping.
"Hn. These imbiciles were the best that Yomi has to offer? I almost feel embarassed for him. Let's go."
By now, Natalie is just waking up and looking around the room, trying to figure out where she is. She climbs out of the bed she was placed in and tries to open the door. Having no luck with that, she looks around the room for a different place to escape, "Dad? Daddy?"
"Your parents aren't here, Natalie," comes a voice from one of the corners.
She jumps and turns to see Yomi, who she hadn't noticed there before, "Who're you? And where are dad and daddy? Why aren't they here? And where IS here?"
He smiles kindly at her and begins to tell her a small web of lies, "I'm Lord Yomi. Your parents sent you here because they said they didn't want you any more. That is also why they aren't here. 'Here' is my castle in my section of the Makai."
You could practically see her heart breaking as her voice wavered, "But... Dad and daddy love me.... They tell me every day! They wouldn't leave me......"
Yomi picks her up and hugs her gently, "I'm sorry, but that's what they said Natalie. They told me to take care with you. That I could do what I like with you because they didn't care any more (AN: please don't kill me for this! it's part of the plot and is making me cry to just think about this really happening...)."
The tears that had been welling up in her eyes fell as Yomi said these words. Natalie burried her face into his chest and cried softly for maybe ten minutes before the doors were kicked in and Kurama and Hiei stormed in, glaring at Yomi.
Hiei walks forward, fire burning in his eyes, "Give Natalie back. NOW!"
Natalie looks up at the sound of Hiei's voice and slips out of Yomi's arms before he can get a better grip, "Daddy!"
Hiei's eyes soften as he looks at her, "Go to dad, Natalie. Daddy has something he needs to 'talk' with Yomi about."
She nods and runs over to Kurama, clinging to his leg. He picks her up and holds her close before walking out of the room and closing the doors. Sitting down, he pulls the still slighty crying Natalie into a tight hug, "We were scared, Natalie. Me and daddy were both scared we might never see you again...."
"But Yomi said you and daddy left me with him.... He said that you didn't love me any more...." Natalie replies, looking up at him with wide, watery eyes.
Kurama growls before hugging her again, "He lied, Natalie. Daddy and I will always love you. No matter what."
Back in the room, Hiei glares at the unseeing Yomi and readies to attack him. Just as he's about to strike, Yomi raises his hand and says in a calm voice, "I wouldn't do that if I were you, Hiei."
"And why not?" Comes the growling resonse.
With a small smirk, Yomi answers calmly, "Take one more step towards me and both your daughter and your lover will be blown apart. I knew you and Kurama would come after her so I took the time she was sleeping to slip a few explosives into the pocket of her pajamas. Said explosives will go off when I wish them to. All I need to do is reach my energy out to them to set them off."
Narrowed eyes glare at him, "You're lying."
"Am I? Do you really want to take that chance, Hiei? Are you going to risk the lives of Natalie and Kurama like that?"
Hiei pauses, unsure if he should take him serious or not, "How do I know you're not lying to save your own ass, you kidnapping bastard?"
"You can't. All you have is my word that their lives are in danger as long as I am threatened."
Back out in the hall, Natalie clings to Kurama and sniffles, "So you and daddy weren't going to leave me with him?"
Kurama gives her a tight hug before replying, "Of course not.... We would never do that to you, Natalie," while in the middle of the hug, Kurama feels something in the pocket of her PJ's and takes it out. "What's this? Dear gods, it's a bomb!"
He quickly throws it into another room and sends a message to Hiei, hoping he gets it. (AN: the italic letters are telepathically speaking!)
Hiei! Yomi put an explosive in her pajamas... It's gone now though, so just finish him off so we can take her home. She's more than a little shaken up about it.
Of course, Kurama.
With that, he turns and smirks at Yomi before starting to advance again, "I don't have to worry about that any more."
Yomi gives a slightly confused look, "And why is that, Hiei? Don't care about your family? My, my, and I thought you had a code of honor to uphold. I do believe that would rule out killing your own flesh and blood."
"No. She doesn't have the bomb any more," With that, Hiei runs over to him and slices him in two. "Hn. And I thought you were a demon lord...." He walks out and gets Kurama and Natalie before walking out of the castle. He picks Natalie up and swings her onto his shoulders. "I thought we'd lost you, little one. Try not to scare us like that again, ok?"
She nods and smiles, "I'll try, daddy."END<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<& lt;<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
&n bsp; Ok! That was Love Through the Oddities! Once I finish my Fushigi Yugi fic, I'll write a sequel to this one that will combine the FY one. You won't have to read that one to understand the next one, though. It might help you understand the characters better, but other than that, it's not necessary. So, Hiei-chan! What do you think of the story! We'll get to see how totally wrapped Natalie has Hiei in the next story! ^_~
