Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Mission Impossible ❯ Decision and Preparation ( Chapter 4 )
Disclaimer: I do not own Yu Yu Hakusho or any of the characters associated with it. Yaddayaddayadda, you all know the drill by now.
Kagome: All right. As promised, I altered the story now so that it does NOT contain a lemon. Apparently most people only enjoy the occasional Kurama x Hiei pairing, which is already in here.
Raven: All right, here's the deal, pay attention so you're less confused, okay?
[1] Hiei and Kurama are both involved in the solution
[2] Yusuke knows what it is, and it has nothing to do with them
being lovers. That topic just kind of came up accidentally.
[3] They still need privacy for the solution, because it does involve
two youkai and a hanyou lord. Therefore, it is not something
that they want other ningens to see.
[4] Yusuke's not too happy with the solution, but there's not much
he can do.
[5] No, Yusuke is not Sesshoumaru, his youkai form just looks kind
of like it because I like Sesshoumaru and felt like putting it in
there.
[6] I know that this doesn't really qualify as R, but it does have
some language, and I'd rather be safe than sorry.
[7] I repeat, NOT A LEMON. It may appear that way and hint at
it, but it won't be, okay?
Nathaniel: All right, I think that's all the major points covered.
Kagome: Uh huh. If anyone still has questions, please feel free to e-mail them to me at celtic7irish@yahoo.com. Now, enjoy the story, please!
Chapter Four: Decision and Preparation
The three friends entered Yusuke's house-well, the two friends and the forbidden child, who refused to have anything to do with friendship as far as Yusuke was concerned. The only reason he was helping at all was because Kurama had asked him to. Well, perhaps `asked' was a bit of an understatement. Pleaded, might be a better word.
In any case, Yusuke still wasn't happy. It hadn't taken him too long to figure out what the other two youkai had planned, and he didn't like it all. It no longer surprised him that the other two weren't exactly pleased with the plan, because he wasn't exactly jumping for joy either.
The black-haired teen decided he was hungry, so offered to fix some food before they began. Not to mention that they would most likely use up a hell of a lot of energy before they were done, and it wouldn't hurt to eat before then.
Wordlessly, the other two men agreed and followed him into the kitchen, seating themselves and looking around while Yusuke found some edible food for them. Glancing back at them, he noticed Kurama gazing around him with curiosity. Hiei was being his typical self and just staring straight ahead, arms crossed.
Yusuke rolled his eyes, then smiled as Kurama's gaze came to rest on him. "Please, lunch may take a while, so feel free to take a look around the house while you wait. I had forgotten that neither of you have ever been here before."
Kurama nodded his thanks and rose, heading out of the kitchen. Hiei, being the stubborn koorime he was, waited several moments before following him wordlessly. Yusuke rolled his eyes again. Hiei never was one for much conversation.
He still didn't see what Kurama saw in him. He was an excellent warrior and a strong ally to have, and Yusuke supposed he made a good friend as well. The only thing he could come up with was that perhaps Hiei had another side to him, one that only Kurama got to see.
Of course, Yusuke might get to see that side within the next couple of hours, but he doubted it. Hiei had a will of iron and was very good at walling off emotions. If he didn't want Yusuke to see another side of him, then most likely he wouldn't.
Yusuke just shook his head and turned back to the task at hand-making lunch for three boys, which always took a great deal of food, and took even more because those boys were warriors on top of everything.
After lunch, which was spent mostly in conversation between Kurama and Yusuke, with the occasional "hn" voiced by the small fire demon, Yusuke sighed. It was time to get started with the cure. He looked over at Kurama. "You're sure this is the least painful way, right? There's no other way?"
Kurama just shook his head. "I'm sure," he said softly. Yusuke just sighed. "Great, just great. I have to get separated from my own stupid body just so that my body can separate itself because I have three different souls inside me now." He rolled his eyes. "Figures." Just then another thought occurred to him.
"Wait a minute. Koenma doesn't realize that I-or one of my forms-is who he's looking for, correct?" The other two nodded. "Then what's going to happen when I show up in Reikai?" The other two looked at him confused, then realization dawned on the redheaded youko.
"He won't know," he stated. Yusuke looked at him and opened his mouth, most likely to deliver some smart-ass retort, but Kurama cut him off. "That's what Hiei's here for. He can hold a soul in place using his Jagan."
Yusuke just blinked. "Oh," was all he managed to utter. Hiei snorted. "Baka ningen. I'm here to kill you." Kurama grinned at his koi. "That's just a bonus, Hiei."
Yusuke jumped at this. "Wha? What the hell is that supposed to mean?!" he demanded. Kurama just grinned at him and placed his hands on the boy's shoulders, soothing him. "Calm down, Yusuke. He was just teasing, but it's true. You have to die in order for your soul to leave and for your body to shift. The biggest problem will be having to kill you twice."
Yusuke just blinked at this, then frowned. "Oh, I see. You'll have to kill my human side in order to separate my human body from my hanyou body. Then you'll have to kill my hanyou body to separate it from the youkai body. Then you'll have to bring the youkai in for punishment."
When Kurama nodded in confirmation, he continued. "That leaves with me with two questions." When Kurama motioned for him to continue, he asked, "First of all, can Hiei hold two souls at once." Hiei just glared at the stupid ningen with his stupid questions and remained silent, deciding that since the damn fox liked him so much, he could do the explaining.
"Yes, he can," stated Kurama, "but in this case, he wouldn't need to." Seeing that Yusuke was about to ask another question, he held up his hand, asking him to wait. His friend closed his mouth again and waited. "Your human and hanyou sides both share the same soul. We have to kill both bodies, but there'll only be one soul to hold. Your youkai side has a soul of its own, which is why it's so dangerous."
The young leader thought this over, then nodded. "All right, I'll accept that. Now for the second question. How do you two plan on killing me? I can take a hell of a lot of damage, and my hanyou counterpart can take even more."
Hiei grinned, baring his sharp little fangs, as Kurama replied. "That's up to you. We could either use our most powerful attacks, which would require us finding someplace else to do this, and kill you that way. Or we could use a more ningen method to kill you. In any case, we can't damage your body beyond compare, or else you won't have anything to come back to."
Yusuke swallowed, finally realizing just what Kurama was talking about. If they used a gun, or even one of Kurama's man-eating plants, he wouldn't have a human or hanyou form for his soul to come back to. Quickly, he made his decision. "I'd prefer a combination of the two," he spoke softly.
Kurama just looked at him gently, waiting for him to explain. Taking a deep breath, he did so. "The only deaths I can think of that wouldn't harm my body beyond repair are drowning, suffocating, and possibly slitting my wrists, which could be bandaged up afterwards until I came back. However, since my bodies so strong, the usual methods of suffocation might not work on me."
Kurama nodded in understanding. "You want me to use my plants to ensure that you suffocate," he stated bluntly. Yusuke nodded. "Besides, that can be done here, and if I get to choose where I die, I'd much rather die here than out in some abandoned field somewhere."
Kurama nodded and began to prepare, knowing that it was going to be difficult for Yusuke to accept death and not meet it head-on. To help with this task, he sent some vines to hold his friend's hands behind his back, hands to elbows, and to tie his ankles together. Then, he began to call upon his plants. He called upon the gentler plants, not wanting to hurt his friend and teammate more than necessary.
Yusuke just sighed and slumped in his bonds, forcing his mind to travel away from what happening, anywhere else but in this room where he waited patiently for death. He would not fight it this time, and that bothered him. He had always met death head-on, and now he was just going to let it claim him? Twice. Damn, he always had had the worst luck when it came to things like this.
Sighing again, he waited as Kurama prepared his plants and Hiei observed from the sidelines, Jagan open and ready for use.
Kagome: All right, yes, I know it's a cliff-hanger, but this was the best place to stop it for now.
Raven: See, she kept her promise. No yaoi, other than the few hints of K x H.
Nathaniel: *grins* Raven's not too happy about that. *Raven slaps him* Nope, not at all.
Kagome: *rolls eyes* Knock it off you two.
Raven: Yes, sir! *mock salutes* Right away, sir!
Kagome: Anyone out there want a smart-ass, boy-crazy muse?
Raven: *gasps* You wouldn't!
Kagome: Try me!
Nathaniel: *sighs* While they're involved in their glaring contest, how about you people review? I really would appreciate it. Thanks!
