~Chapter Three: Back Home~
"I can't believe that woman was killed," Kuwabara stated for the thousandth time.
Currently, Yoko was carrying the Kori kit and trying to figure away to lose her and then chase after her so he could escape from them; Hiei was looking annoyed that he had to come with them (he didn't mind Kori because well... she had quite a sadistic side to her when she was taking care of Yoko (he of course, had been watching with his Jagan eye); Kori was trying to grab a hold of Hiei's katana, though not getting anywhere thanks to Yoko; Yusuke was trying to figure ways he could get out of this; and Kuwabara kept saying the same things over and over again.
"Do you think we will see Yukina?" Kuwabara asked, changing to the subject that they had been on twenty minutes ago.
Everyone, except Kuwabara, turned to look at Hiei. Hiei glared at them of course.
"So do you think we will?" Kuwabara repeated.
Kori stared at him. The goofy man kept saying the same things over again. She was getting a headache. And that nice kitsune wouldn't let her grab that dark demon's katana. So, she let out a growl. Yoko only chuckled.
"Why don't we change the subject?" Yusuke suggested. "Umm... You never told us that you had another partner besides that bat guy Kuronue. Why not?"
"The same reason I didn't tell you about anything in my past. I didn't expect you to see it," Yoko replied.
Kuwabara acted as if he hadn't heard anything. "Soon, I'll see my beloved Yukina."
"Hn," was Hiei's only reply, as Yoko and Yusuke looked over at him. But Kori let out a little yelp, and tried to get out of Yoko’s grip. DAMN!!! He was strong and tall! Why was she so little?
“What’s wrong? And will you stop moving for five seconds?” he asked, looking down at her. She turned back to look at him, blinking incredibly innocent dark blue eyes. She was adorable, and Yoko hated that word now.
“What do you want?” Yoko asked.
“Maybe she wants to be put down,” Yusuke suggested.
“Or maybe she wants to hear more about Yukina,” Kuwabara added, slight dreamily.
Kori let out a yelp, again, and started fidgeting to get out of his hands.
“Maybe she wants to kill you, baka,” Hiei stated, smirking.
“Kori,” Yoko murmured. “Stop trying to kill the human. As much as your instincts tell you, too, don’t kill the human. He’s trying to help you.”
Kori said some gibberish and turned back to her original idea: steal the katana from the dark demon.
“So, where are we headed?” Yusuke asked, after controlling his laughter. It was pretty funny to see Kori want to go after Kuwabara.
“Back to Sinya Yume,”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
(AN: Incase your wondering, Sinya Yume is the area where the thieves used to live and where Kori still lives. Don’t ask I just made it up!!!)
“Wow,” Yusuke stated. “It’s changed.”
“Yeah, look at all those pretty flowers,” Kuwabara commented.
The hideout/house/living area/Sinya Yume had changed a lot in the time Yoko, Kuronue, and Kori had stayed there. They had to keep changing so the hunters wouldn’t come after them and into the house. Bounty hunters seemed to be incredibly stupid when it came to houses. So Yoko barley noticed the change.
“Stay in this area, Kori,” Yoko stated, putting her down. She looked back at him, questioning. “I’ll be right there.” She nodded her head and sped off. “Koenma said you had something to do.” He looked at the three of them.
“Oh, yeah!” Yusuke exclaimed. “The toddler said we should check around the demon market.”
“We didn’t find anything last time,” Kuwabara stated, as he, Hiei, and Yusuke walked away.
“It’s not for Kori, dumb ass. It’s for a mission.”
“Okay…” Yoko muttered, and went to go after Kori.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Kori watched Yoko as he looked for her. But she was hidden among all the roses. Someplace he could never find her because she usual smelt like roses. Or dirt. Or blood. Although, the kit Kori didn’t know this. She just thought it was a good hiding place.
Yoko of course had lost her. Again. He couldn’t keep control of this little kitsune. So if he ever had a kid how the hell was he going watch it? ‘Then again, Kori isn’t a normal kit,’ Yoko thought. ‘Or is it wasn’t… I hate tenses.’
“Kori?” he called out. “Come out here.”
It was silent. Except for the wind blowing the leaves and the sound of his own breathing… And another person’s breathing…
‘The roses… Of course.’ He peered into the roses and, of course, saw the little kit, smiling back up, blinking innocent eyes, and she stretched out her hands towards him. Yoko picked Kori up and started walking away from the roses. If he was going to keep an eye on his partner, it was going to be in an open field.
“This is cruel punishment, Kori. What did I ever do to you?” Yoko asked her. “Oh yeah… I did the same thing to you.”
