He watched his former team-mate cry out his anguish and pain at her side.
His face looked calm and completely blank to any watcher who dared to look in his direction. Outwardly, the short figure gave nothing away from his silent mirth and amusement. Not even his complete happiness could be seen. The fool, he called the tall loud human, whose curly ginger hair was now streaked with white, was crying like he had no tomorrow.
Shizuru, his older sister had died of lung cancer.
From smoking, the doctors said, she was only sixty three years old when she died. The tall man's tiny looking wife took him finally away from her dead and cold body in the bed and gave the small watcher room enough to look down on her old body without prying eyes from others.
She was taunting him as she always did. He had hungered after her body and soul for as long as Hiei knew her! From time to time, the silent demon had watched her in her sleep with unmasked hunger in his gaze. One day Hiei had asked her why she wanted so badly to stay human; after all, she would die with time. Much faster than her brother! The sly female had simply laughed and told him that she did not wish to be something else, she had been born as a human and wanted to die as a human. Hiei began to wait...
Her now grey strands where cut short. The nurses had cut her hair short to make it easier for them to tend her. She had been ill a long time, four years in all. After the second year went by, she was only a mere shadow of her old self. Shizuru had not even recognized her brother anymore in her constantly medicated haze. Her body was thin and worn from all the treatments and the illness.
Her long legs were closing around the waist of her husband in pure bliss. He saw her glazed eyes perfectly clear from his spot outside the window. Hiei had a good few from his spot of the mating couple in the bed. His childlike features where contorted in utter anger and in his eyes you could read how much he wished the human in Shizuru's arms death! But that did not hinder Hiei to look at her pleasure filled face and to watch the couple with jealousy evident in his look. He wanted her for himself but she only laughed and went to another instead.
Both had a strange hate/ love, relationship build up over the years. Hiei knew this was her punishment to him for nearly killing her brother when he asked Yukina to be his wife. To let this worthless ningen male fuck her senseless and not him!
He had nearly killed the human boy when Yukina said yes. Instead, Hiei had injured Kazuma badly in his rage. Shizuru knew exactly that the dangerous demon wanted nothing more than to bed her and to bury his own member inside of her over and over again! To marry this idiotic human was Shizuru's revenge for his fight with Kazuma, her baby brother, and Hiei knew it. So, the only thing the short youkai could do from now on, was to watch them both having the sex he wanted to have with her and to wait for his moment to do what he pleased.
He knew he would not have to wait for long...
The wedding ring was old. It had lost its shimmer and color almost completely with time. Her husband was now in a sanatorium. He had been nearly ten years older than Shizuru. The oaf said he had an illness called Alzheimer, or something...
The silent figure let his fingers silently flow through her grey tresses. After all these years, he still marvelled at the feelings they gave him, even if they were now grey and dull, from old age and illness. He had waited so long, nearly fifty years in all.
Now she was dead.
He watched her with his sister's first child in her arms, for once not smoking and simply stroking the tiny hairs on top of the head of the sleeping baby. Shizuru was for the first time in a long time not snappy to the apparition and even let him sit near her and the baby. Yukina's daughter was sleeping peacefully, her parents out. Hiei made sure that no scum dared to come near to his beloved niece or to her. Her husband was once again on one of his business trips around the world, both were alone in the big house. He masked his hunger for her presence behind a mask of false silence. Oh how Hiei wished he could simply throw her down and fuck her until she screamed his name in bliss! But, he had to wait. Over and over again, the apparition told himself this. So, Hiei simply watched, content for the first time in years, the female ningen and his niece sitting in the big chair. Such a beautiful picture the two made to the silent watcher.
It could have been his and hers instead...
He could hear the doctors and the nurses coming back to take care of her remains in this world. With a sudden harsh tug, Hiei ripped some of the grey hairs out of her skull and vanished through the window. He had waited so long.
He watched her brother when he brought her husband to the sanatorium. The older man was not aware of this at all. Behind Kazuma came Shizuru, her face showing the first signs of pain of her slowly approaching illness and the pain of having to do this. He had lost his memory completely and since she was now ill, it was for the best to leave him in the care of the professional nurses of this house.
He also was there when she went to the hospital and later to the sanatorium herself. Silently watching over his prize all the time, the others thought Hiei did it to help his sister and Kazuma, he let them believe this. He just waited; waited for the day Hiei knew would come.
He had to wait.
He tended to her tresses after they had cut it; Hiei hated the nurses for this! Shizuru somehow did not look like herself any longer; she had always kept her hair long. He wanted nothing more than to end this, to kill her quickly but he restrained himself and simply was at her side every day instead. Even after Shizuru lost her awareness, Hiei was there. Silently watching over her body and taking care of her sleeping mind.
He...had...to...wait...
He watched the funeral with a blank face. The short demon gave nothing away, not even his eyes seemed to hold any emotion. Koenma had asked him if he knew what had happened, since he was the one who was mostly at her side. Hiei simply shook his head and went out of the godling's office to see after his sister and her baka. Shizuru's body had been burned to ash. After everybody had went home, the apparition sat down on a park bench and crossed his arms before his chest.
Her last gasps of breath had been painful for even him to watch.
She was gasping after the much needed oxygen like a fish on land. He told nobody as he felt her dying. Only he was there and watched her, simply sitting near to her and whispering soothing words to ease her panic a little. Right after her death he looked after her body and made sure she was dead. He blended back into the shadows of the room when moments after a ferry girl arrived to pick up Shizuru's soul and bring her to heaven to be judged.
Only, there was none!
The sly female's ghost and soul was nowhere to be found.
He had left when he felt the others arriving.
He had to wait...
He sat there silently and after a while, the short demon smirked. First, it was hard to see but then it grew steadily stronger and stronger. His waiting time was nearly over! And if the spirit world searched forever, they would never find her soul if he did not want it! He leaved the ningenkai; Hiei arrived at his fortress in the middle of the night. Mukuro had given it to him and it lay in the outland territories of the Makai. Not even Koenma dared to send a ferry girl here! His feet arrived at his private rooms after a short while; there he locked himself into his jagan.
*How did you found your funeral, my dear? I find Kurama has done quite job with all the flowers did you not think so too?*
Out of the depths of his jagan eye came an angry female voice. He could tell from the voice's volume that his lovely ningen ghost was angrier than anything else! Silently laughing the youkai listened to her rant.
*Let me go! Hiei you bastard! Let my soul out of here immediately! You little three eyed freak, what have you done to me anyway?! Why am I inside of this...this...thing! Let me out!!!*
Hiei chuckled again, that was Shizuru for sure! Nobody else ever had dared to call him that without fearing his wrath, only her.
* You're inside of my jagan of course. Besides I don't think I will let you out there so soon. After all, I went through to get you in there in the first place! No, I think I will let you stay there for a while. Maybe in a few years, when the others have forgotten about you a little; maybe then I will let you out of it again. *
Hiei could hear her cries and felt her anger at this. He had known that his ningen ghost would react this way. He could not blame her for that.
* Believe me Shizuru, after a while, you will get used to being a ghost now. After all, normally your soul would have died along with your body's death and you would be on your way to the heaven or hell now.
Now you are mine and mine alone! You wanted to live your life to its end. As you can see, I have let you. Go back to sleep, Shizuru-chan. It will take awhile before I can give you a new body back and let you out again*
He put her angry soul back to non-awareness gently as he could and put it safely back, deep inside his jagan eye. In a few years, her brother and the others would have forgotten of her mostly and would no longer search after her soul with the efforts they did now. The soul world would mark her status as a stray ghost and would simply put it away.
Only he would know then where Shizuru was. He had a little longer to wait, just a little longer. Absently the demon played with the strands of gray hair in his bandaged hand.
His gaze wandered to the incubation tube he got from Mukuro. Inside of its water like substance drifted the body of a female ningen, once known as Shizuru Kuwabara. In a few years, Hiei could put her soul back inside this newly made body. Then she would be in his possession only, his forever! A look of possessiveness flashed over the childlike features, accompanied with a look of utter wanton lust and hunger.
He had stolen the strands to make her a new one.
After all, for what Hiei wanted from her, Shizuru needed a young strong body. Until then, he would simply lock her soul away deep inside his jagan and wait as he had always done before. Waking her up from time to time, until Shizuru got used to his presence and after awhile, she would accept it that she belonged to him now.
Hiei could wait; even he knew it would take awhile for the stubborn soul inside his jagan to accept it.
After all, he had done so before.
He let the reminding strands of hair float away with the wind.
Outside his window, the red moon of the Makai shined down on the land.
Right after she took her last breath, Hiei's jagan had taken her soul out of her body. He had felt like a child that had gotten a present it wanted for too long. Her confused soul had not resisted much against his powerful third eye and so he caught her easily with it. She even snuggled a little into his familiar aura; Hiei knew it was an after effect of her panic of dieing. His soul had taken hers into a comforting embrace and he locked her safely away from her pain deep inside the power of his third eye.
From now on, the demon decided, he would never, ever, let someone else let touch what was his! Silently humming with his joy of having finally caught the one, he wanted he had blended back in the shadows of the room.
When the waiting was over and she was finally his, Hiei would tell it to the others. The youkai knew that the spirit world would never allow a soul of a ningen to get a second life without any permission or use for them. He knew that her brother would live as long as his sister would. When they all would have settled over to the Makai finally, he would tell them that she was here with him. Until then, Hiei would wait and be quite. For her sake and his own too.
Accompanied by her presence locked away inside his third evil eye.
This is the first of a maybe two shot. I am not sure now if I will write a second chapter down. We will see.
