The Red Rose of Love

Chapter 2

Rai smiled kindly at Kurama. "Why do you ask that I'm related to Yusuke? Are you one of his friends?"

"Well…I can guess so."

Rai kept on smiling. Rai was a very kind-hearted girl, she got along with a lot of people and was kind of a peacemaker and match maker in her class and school.

"I better get going now, I'm WAS suppose to meet Yusuke an hour ago and I think that my brother and Yusuke might be worried by now." Then the kind smile on Rai's turned into a worried and scared face.

Kurama looked at her, feeling sorry for her. Then she turned away and started to walk away.

Then Kurama spoke up. "You know Rain you shouldn't go to see Yusuke now."

"I have to go. I have no other choice. I told my brother that I would meet up with him and I don't want him to worry about me. Besides I don't want to go back to my house because…" Rai stopped talking, feeling a cold chill going down her back.

"Because why?"

"Because my parents aren't home at all and will never be." With that Rai started to walk again and then Kurama noticed a few tears falling down her face.

'What does she mean by that?' Kurama thought to himself.

'Ma ybe I should have NOT said that to that guy Kurama. But he seemed like a nice guy.' Rai thought to herself as she walked down the sidewalk. Rai may look happy, kind and cheerful girl on the outside but inside she was a lonely, depressed, sickly and sad girl. After her mother's disappearance she was lonely because her father was NEVER home and never bothered getting a housewife. Rain had to take care of Narutaki by herself. She couldn't be a kid, and still she had to take care of Narutaki at age 14. The only friends she EVER had before and after her mother disappeared was Yusuke and Ariel. Then for some reason her father wouldn't let Rai see her cousin again because her father was VERY rich and successful so anyone could guess why. She still had Ariel but it wasn't the same. But the weird thing was after her mother was gone Rai got this dangerous and powerful sickness. Then after she died saving Narutaki, she met Kai and Kikyo and then they became her friends as well. Rai wanted to forget the past and focus on the present but she just couldn't. The memories just kept going through her mind. She didn't want to tell Yusuke about her past because he would just worry about her but he needed to know about her sickness.

'I hope Narutaki is okay.' Then she heard someone yelling to her.

"RAI! RAI! RAI!" It was Narutaki and behind him was Yusuke and Botan.

"Narutaki!" Then Narutaki ran into Rai's arms. She held him tight.

"Rai is your fever gone? Do you feel better now?" Narutaki asked.

"Yes a little but not a lot." Then she looked up and saw Yusuke and Botan.

"Yusuke…" She whispered.

Yusuke stared at her, strangely. He remembered Rai as a little Ms. Perfect when he was little but now he didn't see a little girl, he saw a Teenage girl who was his cousin.

Rai stared at him kindly and then ran into his arms and hugged him tightly.

"Yusuke I've missed you so much." Rai said.

"Uh Rai please don't get so lovey! You know that I hate it when you act like this." Yusuke teased as he hugged her.

"I see that you met Narutaki already." Rai smiled as she let go of Yusuke.

"Yea he's one cool kid. Rai this is Botan a friend of mine."

"Hello Rai it's glad to meet you and you would be happy to know that your cousin Yusuke is a S-" Then Yusuke covered Botan's mouth before she could say anything else.

"Botan seems to be a LITTLE tired Rai." Yusuke said as his hand was still covering her mouth.

Rai smiled. She loved Yusuke dearly but he needed to know about what happened to her.

"Yusuke do you want to come over to our house for a little bit?"

"And you can bring Botan with you as well!" Narutaki grinned as he clapped his hands together.

Yusuke nodded his head and Botan mumbled yes.

"So tell me Botan how did you meet my cousin Yusuke?" Rai asked.

When they got to Rai's house Rai decided to make some kind of treat. Yusuke played with Narutaki and Botan helped Rai out with the cooking.

"Well it's a very confusing and LONG story heh." Botan sweatdropped. Then Kikyo appeared out of the ceiling fell on the ground with a loud thump.

"Rai-chan you're back!" Then Kikyo threw her arms around Rai.

"Kai and I were getting worried and then we were about to look for you and then we got a call from Lady Arella and she said that we have to start finding that guy named Master Kumar Fire of Hell! And Ariel called and said that we have to start to tomorrow!" Then Kikyo noticed Botan and then said, "Botan!"

"Kikyo!? I didn't know you lived here!?"

"Well dear friend I'm working with Rai. Kai, The Slayer is also working with me and if you include Ariel Kamiya. We're all Spirit Detectives working for Lady Arella."

"Wait that means that Rai…" Botan turned to look at Rai.

"That means that you died and you were reborn?"

"Hey you guys what's takin' so long?" Yusuke and Narutaki walked into the kitchen.

"Yusuke your…cousin…is…a…Spirit…Detective&hellip ;as…well." Botan stammered as she pointed her finger at Rai.

"…"

Yusuke's mouth dropped, and then Kikyo spoke up. "Narutaki I think you go somewhere else for a little bit." Narutaki nodded his head and walked off.

"Yusuke I think you should sit down." Rai whispered.

" Let me start from the beginning," Rai said as she poured some tea into a cup for herself. Kikyo, Botan, Yusuke and Rai were sitting in the living room and then Kai showed up and sat down as well.

"After I couldn't see you anymore, my mother disappeared after Narutaki was born. Then I hadn't to take care of Narutaki by myself because father was NEVER home."

"Wait so your saying that YOU had to care of Narutaki and that Uncle Shintaro never stayed home." Yusuke replied.

"Yes then one day there was a fire and Narutaki was in it and then I went in to save him but he made it out and then I died." Rai's eyes were starting to get teary.

"Then Kikyo appeared and took me to Lady Arella and she said that I could come back but I would have to become a Spirit Detective. Then when I came back Kikyo joined me and help me take of things at home and Narutaki. Then we met Kai, The Slayer and he joined up with us and one of my friends Ariel Kamiya became a Spirit Detective because she had this kind of spirit energy."

"But still my father was never home. The last time I can remember he was home was five months ago." Then Rai started to cry. She couldn't hold it anymore. "And when mother disappeared I became very sick and the doctors say that they can't cure it all, they said I MIGHT live until I'm 20 or 30 years old." Rai cried harder and harder. "My father knew but he just didn't care at all because he was NEVER home to see me suffer!" Yusuke hugged Rai tightly and patted her back.

"Let it all out Rai, you still have Narutaki and me. Just cry it all out."

"I promise you that I'll help you out with Narutaki. I won't let you do all this work just 'cause Uncle Shintaro won't get help out his daughter! And I WILL find a way to cure your sickness. I won't you die, again."

"Yusuke thank you." Rai whispered and then cried again.

'Thank you.'

Yusuke decided to stay with Rai for a few weeks, just to help her out. Since Rai's house was big, Yusuke could stay at her house, Botan decided to stay as well. Yusuke shared a room with Kai and Kikyo shared a room with Botan. Then at 11:30 pm when Narutaki was asleep Yusuke and the others started to talk about a new case.

"We have a new case. My group and I are suppose to hunt down Master Kumar Fire of Hell. He wants this blue diamond called the 'Jewel of Mystical'. The stone is VERY powerful and he wants it to destroy all humans. But he needs this certain person, who can control it. So we have to find this person and destroy Master Kumar Fire and the person who controls it is 'The Angel of Mystical.'" Rai said as she took a sip of tea.

"So I am. Me and a few others are doing the same case as well."

"The other guys are Hiei, Kuwabara and Kurama."

Rai looked at Yusuke.

"I've met your friend Kurama, he seems like a nice guy."

"WHAT!? How did ya meet him!?"

"Well on the way to your house I fainted and he took me to his house and I meet him. He's really nice in my opinion."

"I have an idea why don't Yusuke's gang pairs up with our gang! Please Rai!" Kikyo begged.

"I think that's a wonderful idea." Botan said.

"Whatever. The more people we have the better." Kai mumbled.

"What about you Yusuke? Is it alright with you?" Rai asked.

"Sure I think it'll be great. Hey tomorrow I'll bring over Hiei, Kuawbara and Kurama and talk bout this Master Kumar Fire guy." Yusuke said.

"Fine. I would love to meet the rest of your friends." Rai grinned.

Me: -O- ZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZz...*Sleeping in a metal cage*

Raven: Well at least I didn't have to whip her...

Yume: LALALALALALALALALALALALALA!! ^__^

Raven: Don't make me cage you too, Yume! *Growls*

Yume: MEEP!!! *Runs off and hides*

Aries: ~_~ Stop terrorizing everyone, Raven...

Raven: Whatever, Aries.
