"Kali! Wake up!" Cami yelled through the closed door. She had been trying to wake up Kalika for a good hour. The others, including her, had been rudely awakened earlier by Christian. Even he had tried and failed to wake the lump that was Kali.
"Is she not up yet?" Haru yelled from the kitchen, where he was making breakfast for the team. It, usually, was Kali's job.
"No, and I would open her door, if I could, but it's locked." Cami grunted while jiggling the brass knob.
"Here, Cami, move and let me try." Aimilee said as she transformed a seed she had in her hand into a straight, razor sharp blade of grass. She maneuvered the blade into the keyhole, and a few seconds later, a small click was heard. She stood and turned the knob, opening the door.
"That was a cool trick." Cami said as her eyes shone with amusement.
"Thanks. Where is she?" Lee said as she walked into her sister's room and began looking for her. "Kali! Are you in here?" She yelled.
"Where would she be?" The smaller girl asked as she checked Kali's bathroom.
"I have no idea." Lee said, walking out of Kalika's room with Cami close behind. "None of you have seen Kali, have you? I can't find her anywhere." The men in question shook their heads. From her standing position beside her cousin, Cami could have sworn she saw Christian smirk from behind the case file he was reading.
"You're her sister, try to sense her." Christian said, peering over the paper at Aimilee. She, in turn, closed her eyes and focused her thoughts on Kalika. [ Kali, where are you?] she thought. When she heard nothing back, fear filled the pit of her stomach.
"I can't sense her." Lee said, "What if something's happened? What if she's hurt?" She sat down on the couch and laid her head in her hands, frustration and worry showing in her posture. Moment's later, she felt a hand on her shoulder.
"C'mon. Alex can help." Christian said. Haru opened a portal and let Lee and Cami walk in first before following. As he watched them enter the portal, Christian couldn't help but laugh. [I just hope I didn't send her too far back. Oh, well. In a week, her energy will spike, leading them to where she is. At least she'll leave me alone for a while.] He finally walked through, leaving the mansion void of life.

"It would be helpful if you could tell us some information."
"I can't."
"Why not?" Koenma asked.
"Because." Kalika replied. She was sitting in a hard chair in Koenma's office. The boys she had encountered earlier that morning were in there as well. She knew who they were. Her mom and dad, uncle Kuwabara, and Lords Yusuke and Koenma. [If they only knew who I was...]
"Because, why?" Koenma said, interrupting her train of thought. He looked her straight in the eye, expecting an answer.
Kalika smirked. "Why not?"
Koenma looked at her, confused. "What?" He stood up on his desk. He was still in his toddler from, so, to Kalika, he wasn't that threatening. Koenma bent over, and his face rested three inches from her own. "What are you not telling me?" He asked impatiently, expecting an answer.
Kali kept her mouth shut tightly. Her gut instinct told her not to say anything about who she was or where she came from. If she did, it could, most likely, change the future. [Maybe that wouldn't be such a bad idea.] She thought, [No more Christian if I do...hmm, what to do, what to do....]
Koenma stepped back down from his desk to his chair. He sighed, saying, "at least give us something to work with."
"Hey!" Yusuke said from the couch to Kali's right. "What about what you said?"
Kali shifted so she was looking at him. Arching an eyebrow, she asked, "What do you mean?"
"You said, or rather yelled, something when we first met. It was...um..." Yusuke stumbled to remember what Kali had said. He hung his head in his hands and sighed. His head snapped up as he looked at her. "You yelled," Yusuke pulled his best imitator voice, "Christian Urameshi! You son of a bitch! Or something like that..."
Kali's face paled. She hadn't remembered saying anything. This hole was difficult to dig out of. The four Reikai Tantei, and Koenma, looked at her, expecting an answer. Kali stayed silent, focusing on a speck of dirt on the floor. A looming silence hung in the room for the next few minutes.
"Well, this is getting us nowhere." Koenma said, breaking the silence.
"Can we at least know your name, Miss?" Kurama asked from his position behind her.
"Kalika." She said curtly. "Why?"
"Because one, it's common courtesy, and two, because I just wanted to know." He responded cooly. Kali frowned. She hadn't been expecting that.
"How did you get here?" Kurama asked, walking over and crouching down beside the chair that Kali occupied. Kali turned her head, looking into his eyes automatically. Something stirred within her, and she felt a burning sensation behind her nose and in her throat.
"Excuse me," she choked out, standing up, "I have to go." She hurried out of the double-doors that restricted the office from the rest of the building.
"What's her problem?" Kuwabara scoffed as soon as the doors closed again.
"Was it something that I did?" Kurama asked, standing straight again.
"What gave you that idea, genius?" Hiei replied from the corner, in his monotone voice.
"She was about ready to cry when she left. I guess only I noticed, since you never seem to give two shits about anyone besides yourself." Kurama snarled at the fire hybrid. Hiei visibly shrugged off the comment. Upon seeing this, Kurama balled his fist and tried to calm himself.
"Kurama," Koenma said, diverting the fox's attention, "since you got the most information out of her, I want you to go and try to get her to talk to you again." On that note, the rest of the detectives stood up and all four left the office.
"She was pretty..." Kuwabara noted, thinking out loud.
Knowing what question was going to come next, Yusuke said, "Don't get ahead of yourself there, charmer. She'll just be another woman to kick your ass after being asked that question." He put his hands behind his head. Kuwabara immediately took off after Yusuke, yelling something about kicking his ass, leaving the two demons by themselves.
"I said I was sorry."
"And if I had listened, then I'd be able to tolerate your presence." Hiei snarled as he sped off through the thick trees, leaving Kurama by himself. He sighed heavily and kept walking.
His head snapped up as he felt a quiver among the trees and a surge in demonic energy nearby. Staying still for a moment, he allowed to trees to 'talk' to him. He raced off to where they told him to go.
Kalika flipped off of the tree branch she had been balancing on and landed on her feet. She looked around at the plants that surrounded her. None containing her desired plant were around. [Oh, well...this will have to do for now...] She thought as she picked a nearby snapdragon. Using her energy, she transformed said flower into a double-edged katana. With this, she started maneuvering the sword in short, jabbing strokes, all the while adding in an occasional punch, flip, or kick.
When she was breathing heavy and her spirit energy was exauhsted, she changed her makeshift sword back into the snapdragon, and re-attached it to its' vine. When she was finished, her knees gave way and she fell to the ground. Kalika felt that familiar burning in the back of her thoat as the memories flooded her vision. This time, instead of supressing them, she let the haunting occurrances of the past win over her will to fight. Tears leaked down her cheeks as she sat on the ground.
