Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Perspective ❯ Tournament Begins ( Chapter 16 )
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Due to popular demand, I’m back! LOL! Well, it’s time to start the fighting. Just to let you readers know, all fights were written by Tsunake, not me. If you don’t like the way a fight happened, don’t yell at me. I already told you that some people will die.
Disclaimer: I don’t own Yu Yu Hakusho, you, Kaomi, Tsunake, any opposing fighters, or fights.

You woke up fairly early and had some coffee. You were quite nervous about the upcoming fight. After all, it was your very first fight with a demon.
The five of you walked a short distance to the large arena. You would be fighting against the Doutou Team and you were very relieved that you wouldn’t have to fight the Saikoo Team until the Finals with the way the tournament was arranged. You weren’t ready for a fight that intense. You stood behind the large double doors, wondering about how strong your opponent would be.
“Introducing the Yuujou Team!” a female voice boomed from the other side of the doors that were slowly opening before you. You could hear the audience practically screaming as the fighting area came into full view.
A woman with a microphone was standing in the center of the ring. She had long, purple hair pulled into a high ponytail. She wore a white shirt with orange and red flames decorating it. She had a mini skirt that matched her shirt. Her bright, green eyes sparkled as she pointed to the doors opposite to you.
“And I give you the Doutou Team!” she shouted into the microphone. The doors opened to reveal the Doutou Team. You could feel their demonic energy as the door fully opened and the audience boomed.
“You’re going down!” a girl on their team mouthed to you. You turned to Hiei and Kurama.
“Let us girls do most of the fighting, ok?” you asked. Kurama nodded and Hiei just kept looking at you with no response. Kurama leaned closer to you.
“I’ll fight first to show you three what these fights are like.” he whispered into your ear.
“Sure.” you replied as another woman ran onto the ring. She also held a microphone. She had shamrock green eyes and hair pulled into a long braid that went down to her waist. She wore a teal green, short-sleeved shirt and capri pants with matching shoes. A tiny, gold-chained necklace with a green pendant sparkled on her neck as she spoke.
“Welcome to the Dark Martial Arts Tournament! We will be your referees!” she said in an Irish accent, gesturing to herself and the other woman. “I’m Naomi and this is...”
“Maomi!” the girl with the purple hair finished, using her own microphone. “This tournament is guaranteed to be a real bloodbath and I bet you’re all just dying to see it!”
“The first fight between the Doutou Team and the Yuujou Team will begin in a few minutes! Make sure to stay in your seats!” Naomi said happily.
“Will the first two fighters please step up to the ring!” Maomi instructed. Kurama stepped forward and a girl from the Doutou Team stepped up as well. She had purple hair with matching cat ears. Her orange cat eyes shone as the audience showered her with eager applause. Kurama and her stood facing each other faces blank.
“The first fight of the Dark Tournament will be between Haya of the Doutou Team and Kurama of the Yuujou Team!” Naomi smiled. Maomi lifted her hand high into the air.
“Let the first round begin! She said, bring her hand down. The two referees headed quickly to the edge of the ring as the fight began.
Haya grinned as she shifted into a fighting stance, her cat ears twitching with anticipation. Kurama’s face showed no emotion as he casually reached behind his head and brought out a beautiful rose. He lifted it above his head and brought it down in one fluent motion. Instead of a rose, there was now a lethal looking whip, thorns littering its green surface. For a moment, neither fighter moved, both intensely focused on one another. The crowd fidgeted anxiously, wanting the bloodshed to begin.
Suddenly, both lunged at once, moving almost too fast to follow with human eyesight. Throwing knives magically appeared between Haya’s slender fingers. She threw them furiously, more appearing as soon as her flesh left their cold, metallic surface. Kurama spun and dodged gracefully, lifting his whip to strike at the cat demon.
The whip lashed out at her, wrapping around her left leg in an unsuccessful attempt to trip her. With her face contorted in pain, she ripped the whip off, hundreds of gashes welling up with thick, red blood.
The injury appeared to phase Haya very little. With a huge leap, she soared across the arena. Kurama took a step back, but it was too late. Her legs fastened around him, pinning his arms to his sides.
Grinning at him again, she swiftly brought out two daggers, one in each hand. Twirling them a bit, she steadied them, then plunged them into either side of Kurama’s neck. Vaulting away from him, she watched in a bit of awe as he remained standing. With a grunt, he pulled them out. Great splatters of blood pooled onto the ancient arena’s tile. You couldn’t help but cringe and you felt Tsunake beside you become tense.
“There’s no telling who will win! Haya is certainly in better condition, but Kurama appears to have plenty of fight left!” Naomi shouted into her microphone in an excited manner.
Kurama shook his head, sending droplets of blood all the way into the crowd. He gently tossed the daggers to Haya, who caught them with a bemused expression on her face. To her obvious surprise, Kurama closed his eyes, a look of concentration gripping his face. Haya prepared to unleash another bombardment of knives, when suddenly, the ground began to tremble violently. Haya didn’t fall, but the look of surprise was clear upon her face.
With a roar, the ground split open. The crowd responded wit a roar of their own. A long, HUGE green vine snaked out, latching onto the tile. Another one followed. They were both massive, each the width of an oak tree. They both strained, lifting a massive flower out of the ground.
It was shaped like an enormous bell. The blue and purple petals folded delicately to form the curved body. From the looks of it, this monstrosity pulled itself along with the two main vines. For a moment, no one moved.
Kurama was watching the plant calmly; Haya looked apprehensive. Suddenly, thousands of small, dainty looking vines surfaced. They swayed a bit, feeling the air. They swung in the direction of Haya, sensing her energy.
