Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Rain's Myst ❯ Prologue ( Prologue )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Coming out of the woods, a family of kitsune's turned into a small family cemetery. The male and two kids stayed at the entrance as the female walked slowly up to a grave. Smiling softly, she knelt down and brushed off the headstone; placing a red rose on top.

Three years before:

A small silver fox ran quickly and silently through the forest, limping slightly on a wounded leg. Around her neck a thin metal collar pulsed with an eerie green light. Glancing over her shoulder, she saw the dim forms of those pursuing her. A fallen branch brushed her leg, making her stumble and fall. The dim forms quickly caught up, taking advantage of her momentary incapacitation. One of them quickly shoved her into a small sack after snapping a chain onto her collar. Their job finished, they turned back into the forest.

"Urameshi!" an angry yell echoed in the forest. A brown-haired boy went flying around the corner, laughing and barely managing to stay up. He was closely followed by a toasty looking, angry red haired boy. The other boy tried to grab him, but only managed to fall face-first on the ground. Urameshi turned to him and doubled over, holding his sides with laughter.

"Chill Kuwabaka, it was an accident!"

"An accident! You were supposed to hit the trees Yusuke Urameshi just laughed.

"Haruki has a point Yusuke."

Yusuke started and turned around to see two boys standing behind them. "Kurama! Hiei! Don't sneak up on people like that!"

Kurama chuckled. "Koenma wants to see all of us."

"Again?" Yusuke sighed. "OK, let's go."

They all stood in Koenma's office awaiting little ruler. When he finally came in Yusuke demanded, "What do you want us for?"

"An A-class demon, Drake, is causing some trouble outside of town. He is randomly attacking either people or businesses. We think he's in a factory outside of town. He's a half fire, half wind demon as far as we can tell and I want you to go take care of him." Koenma answered.

"No prob. Let's go." Yusuke answered.

"Hold on a second. There's a new tournament starting soon, if you want to be in it I can enter you," Koenma offered. The boys looked at each other, smiled eagerly, and nodded.

Later, while they were walking, Yusuke stopped and looked around. "Where's Hiei?" When no one could see any trace of the man; who was known for disappearing, they continued on. Soon they found the factory Koenma described. It wasn't a very large factory and it was really run down. "Now all we have to do is take care of the Drake guy." Yusuke smiled eager for a fight.

I heard a noise above me and raised my head; my sliver ears perking up as I looked at the window above me. Standing in the window was either a child or a very short adult, dressed in black, with black hair and crimson eyes. A piece of white cloth was tied around his forehead. His eyes were very intelligent and somewhat cold. `Who is he and what is he doing here? Where have I seen eyes like that before?' I wondered to myself. He looked at me and than disappeared. `That was strange.' As I lay back down I couldn't help but think `Those eyes are so mysterious, full of secrets. Oh well,' I shrugged `I'll never see him again.'
