Chap 1- disturbances

Yusuke and his group walked into the factory and were immediately confronted by a human-like demon. "Who are you and what do you want?" He demanded.

"I'm Yusuke Urameshi and these are my friends." Yusuke answered. "We want to beat Drake." The guy's eyes widened then he shook his head.

"You guys are nuts! No one can beat Drake!"

"Then I guess I'm Noone," Yusuke said, pushing past the man. "See ya later."

The man shrugged and let them past. "Your funeral." They went down the hallway, fighting two men that looked like they were guarding a door.

I pricked up my ears for the second time that day. `What is it now?' I thought agitated. `Can't a girl get some sleep anymore!' The sounds stopped as suddenly as they had begun.

"We should check all the rooms in case he's in one of them." Yusuke suggested. "Yes, that would be wise." Kurama agreed. They stepped up and opened the door.

The door opened and I quickly got up and moved back until my chain restricted me from moving any further. I warily studied the people entering the room. All three were boys, I think; I wasn't quite sure about on of them. One had brown eyes, black hair, and a green suit like thing on. The one I wasn't quite sure of had long, red hair, green eyes, and a yellow dress-looking thing on. The last one had orange hair, black hair, and a suit that looked like the first one except it was blue. To show I was friendly, I slowly waved my tail back and forth.

The boys entered the room, which was empty except for a small silver animal with soft green eyes chained in the middle of the room. Kuwabara walked over to me and knelt down out of my reach. "It's a fox," he said. My plumed tail continued wagging and my tongue lolled out as I looked at them with intelligent eyes. My collar was still on and it quickly attracted their attention. "Why is it glowing like that?" Kuwabara asked.

"Not a clue." Yusuke shrugged. "Should we take it with us?" he asked.

"No," Hiei said. All the boys started a little at his abrupt entrance then just rolled their eyes.

Kurama cast a scolding look at Hiei. "Of course Yusuke, we can't leave it here. Let's take its collar off."

They seemed surprised to see me there and talked among themselves for a bit until the crimson-eyed guy showed up and startled them. `What is he doing here? Is he with them?' I frowned. They walked over to me and reached for my collar. They worked on it for a while, but then gave up and reached for the chain. They apparently noticed the teeth makes on it. The redhead frowned, but crimson eyes smirked. They quickly broke the chain and I tried to run away, but I stepped on my wounded leg and it buckled.

Kurama finally noticed my wounded leg and said, "He's hurt." Bending down, he gently picked me up. I growled low in my throat, but he ignored me and walked towards the door, still holding me.

"It's a girl," Kuwabara said

"Huh?" Yusuke said.

"Trust me, it's a girl." Jerking my head up from where it rested on Kurama's arm I looked towards and door and whined.

Hiei turned to the door. "Someone's coming." We heard mumbling voice coming down the hall accompanied by angry footsteps. Everyone tensed. The voice got closer and closer. It sounded angry, but we couldn't make out what it was saying. It rounded the corner to where the boys could see him/her. They all started laughing, relieved.

Botan said, "What? What!"

"Hi Botan." Yusuke greeted her. "What are you doing here?"

"I kinda got lost," she said as she pointed her fingers at each other and tapped the tips together lightly, embarrassed. Everyone laughed and Hiei smirked. I snuggled down into Hiei's arms, gaining a glare from the fire demon.

He once again tried to hand me off. "Here Botan."

I growled at Botan, scaring her. "What is she?" Botan wondered.

"All we know is that she is a silver fox that so far only likes Hiei." Kurama answered.

"Oh, ok."

"Now we have to find and take care of Drake and then we're home free." Yusuke said. At the sound of his name I shivered with fear. Hiei looked down at me with confusion on his face for only a moment, and then returned to his normal blank stare or glare if you want to be precise.

Drake…the very name makes me scared. `He's too powerful for these humans, they'll be killed. If only I could tell them!' but I couldn't, he made sure of that by separating us. I looked at the boys, who were joking and teasing each other as we walked down the hall. `They could be killed and they don't even know it.' I thought amazed. As we neared the room Drake was sometimes in, I got tenser and tenser.

Kurama kept looking at me. It seemed to him that the closer they got to the door at the end of the hall, the tenser I got.

"If Drake is in this factory, he'll be in here." Yusuke pointed out.

"Why?" Kuwabara asked, looking confused.

"Because it's the only room left, moron," Yusuke sassed. They walked up to the door, opened it, and went inside. The room was empty and I relaxed and went to sleep.

Kurama looked at me and smiled. "Let's get her back to the hotel. We all went back to the apartment where the girls were waiting.

I woke up abruptly the next day around lunch in a slight panic, not recognizing my surroundings. The room I was in was empty except for me and a couch and some chairs. It was a fairly large room that looked like it was used for a living room. Lying on a pallet in the corner, I found two bowls next to me filled with food and water. Smirking, I thought to myself `They think I'm just an animal, but that's fine with me.' Eating and drinking a little, I heard someone in the next room. Walking over to the kitchen I saw Kurama making lunch. I ran over to him and jumped up on his leg.

"You're a little more sociable today," he said, kneeling down and petting me on my head. "I see your leg's all better." I jumped up on a chair then onto the table, sniffing at a plate left there. "Hello Yusuke." Kurama greeted. Turning around, I saw a pleasant looking girl with short brown hair enter the room.

She nodded a greeting at him. "Is this the fox you told me about Yusuke?" She asked over her shoulder.

Appearing behind her, Yusuke said, "Yup, that's her."

She walked over to me and picked me up. "Aww, how cute!" I wagged my tail. `You know what, pretending to be an animal has its advantages.' "Hey girls, you have to come and see this." Yusuke called over her shoulder. Two more girls showed up, I recognized one as Botan but the other one I didn't know.

They all huddled around me, petting me and crooning like I was a new-born. Wriggling free of the torture I ran down the hall. Running into the first room I found, I saw Kuwabara playing with a small ball of fur. My curiosity got the best of me and I pranced over and sniffed it. Pain suddenly lanced through my muzzle and I yelped, jumping backwards. Crossing my eyes, I looked down at my now bleeding nose. "It bit me!" I crouched down low and growled deep in my throat.

Kuwabara jumped up, grabbed the ball of fluff, and yelled, "Kurama, come get you stupid fox!" Hearing them come down the hall, Iran out of the room and into the next, finding Hiei sitting in the window. Jumping up onto his lap, I curled into the smallest ball possible; startling him.

Kurama reached for me but I growled at him. `I just got here, I'm not leaving!'

Hiei growled, "Out of my room!" the others took one look at his face and beat a hasty retreat, while I stayed put. He glared at me, shrugged, and went back to sleep.

`Yes!' I crowed to myself and then also fell asleep. Later Kurama walked by, looked in, and smiled.

The smells of dinner woke me and I licked Hiei's face to wake him. "Get off, you stupid mutt," he growled. Jumping down, I ran to the doorway, looking behind me to see if he was following, which he was. Running down the hall, I jumped up onto the table.

Kurama turned around and, seeing me on the table, frowned, "Get off the table…..what we should call her?" Hiei, who had just gotten to the table, said, "She has a name tag Kurama."

Kurama looked surprised, "She does?"

Yusuke leaned over to see what it said, "Myst."

"Ok, Myst it is then." I wagged my tail and jumped off the table and went over and stood next to Kurama, whining.

"Are you hungry?" Yusuke asked. I wagged my tail `yes'.

"She has food in the other room." Kurama said. Growling to show my displeasure, I turned my back to them, my nose on the air and my eyes closed. This, of course, only made them laugh. Ignoring them, I stalked away to the other room.

`This' I thought, `is the one downside to being an animal.' I ate and then stretched out on my pallet, listening to them talk in the other room.

Yusuke was asking Kurama, "What it that collar around her neck?"

"I don't know. We tried to get it off, but we couldn't."

"Do you have any idea why it pulses like that?" Kurama shook his head no and was about to talk when Botan burst into the room.

"Koenma wants you to take care of Drake ASAP," Botan told them.

Groans were heard from the table.

"But we just got back!" Yusuke complained.

"Sorry, orders and orders. Don't shoot the messenger."

Yusuke sighed. "Fine, we'll leave in the morning." Botan nodded and left to tell Koenma. Finishing dinner, they came into the living room, and sat down to talk about where to look. Jumping up on the couch between Yusuke and Kurama, I laid my head down and closed my eyes. "We should start at the factory where we found Myst." Yusuke stated. Everyone agreed, except Hiei, who didn't deem it necessary to join them.

Yusuke walked over to where I was laying and petted my head. "Good luck boys, come back in one piece." With that she got up to leave.

"Wait Yusuke, can you take care of Myst until we get back?" Yusuke asked.

"Sure."
