When Kagome woke up, she found herself in a neat, clean office.

"Good. You're awake." A toddler said, coming over.

"You can…talk?" Kagome blinked. The toddler looked annoyed.

"Yes I can. I am Koenma Daioh, the Prince of the Spirit World." Koenma said.

"…Doesn't surprise me, I guess…" Kagome mumbled. "Why am I here?"

"I want to know how you know InuYasha." Koenma replied.

"Er…I'm sorry, but I'm not privileged to give you that."

"…Very well, then. I'll just tell Kurama here what happened when you were eight…" Koenma trailed off, looking mischievous. Kagome's eyes widened.

"You wouldn't!" She hissed furiously, turning bright red.

"Oh believe me, he would." A guy with greasy, slicked-back hair walked in, wearing jeans and a white muscle shirt.

"You are…?" Kagome asked.

"Urameshi Yusuke." Yusuke replied.

"Higurashi Kagome. It's nice to meet you. He…" She jabbed a thumb in Kurama's direction. "Dragged me here against my will."

Yusuke chuckled.

"I told you that you should've had Kuwabara go with you. She'd have been begging to come, just so she could get away from him." He laughed.

Kurama smiled. "I did not wish to coerce her into coming for the wrong reasons."

"But you brought me here against my will anyway! What do you people want from me!?" Kagome screeched.

"…Kagome's scary when she's angry…" Koenma commented quietly. Speaking up, he said, "We need to know how you're connected to InuYasha, the Shikon no Tama, and Sesshoumaru."

Kagome gasped.

"Se-Sesshoumaru?! But I'm not connected, you see, I…" She rambled, but was silenced by Koenma.

"It's no secret that you know you can't have InuYasha, so your heart wants Sesshoumaru instead." He said.

"No! I do want InuYasha!" Tears welled up in Kagome's eyes for some unknown reason. "You can try to convince yourself of that all you want. As Prince of the Spirit World, and after reading your files, you can't lie to me."

"I guess…I guess that I'll tell you what you want to know…Just…don't tell any more secrets…" She sighed, wringing her hands nervously, and began her long tale. Kagome told him what happened five hundred and fifty years ago, all the way up to the most recent facts.

"So…We have a love triangle…Well, sort of. InuYasha likes Kagome, but Kagome likes Sesshoumaru, who hates humans and his half-breed brother." Kurama commented.

"Sounds more like a soap opera to me." Yusuke yawned.

"Yes…well anyway, Kagome, I want someone from my detectives to follow you back into time and keep an eye on things for me. You can choose who you want to go, but choose carefully. Someone who is smart and cunning would be the best choice, narrowing it down to…" two pictures popped up on Koenma's screen. "Either Hiei or Kurama."

Kagome narrowed her eyes at Kurama's picture, but nodded.

"Kurama…I guess." She said, but then whirled around to face Kurama. "As long as there's no more funny stuff! Like knocking me unconscious and what not!"

Kurama chuckled.

"Don't worry. I won't do that to an ally." He said.

Kagome could've sworn she'd seen his eyes flicker to gold momentarily.
