Yusuke Urameshi sat, bored, in the room assigned to Team Urameshi. He tried to nap, but wasn't tired. He tried to eat something, but wasn't hungry. He tried to play cards with Kurama and Kuwabara, but couldn't stay focused. He suddenly stood up, rubbed his hands over his head and yelled, "I can't take it anymore! I need to fight someone! Argh!"
"Well, Yusuke, the first fight will be starting soon, so you'll at least get to watch a fight."
"It's just not the same! I need to punch something!"
"Well, Kurama, who's fighting?" Hiei asked, ignoring Yusuke.
"It's your old friend Tao's team going up against a team of Fire Demons called Team Honoo. It should be an interesting fight."
"Hm. Tao will wipe the floor with anyone who fights him but me. He's one of the strongest warriors I've ever met. Once he's decided to kill you, you might as well start digging the grave and carving the headstone. He has never failed to eliminate a target, human or demon."
"Target?" Yusuke asked.
"Tao is a professional assassin. He's a multi-billionaire based on assassinating any target posed. No matter how tight of security, and how powerful of a target, Tao always kills them."
"So, Hiei, were you an assassin?" Kurama asked.
"For a while, I worked with Tao's group. Him, the Vampire Jake Briar, the half-Shadow Stalker Zi, and the Fire Daemon Malekith. Of course, I don't know who is fifth fighter might be. Oh well, I suppose we will find out."

-About 20 minutes later, in the arena-
Two cat demons stepped into the spotlighted arena. One was obviously the demon Koto; looking exactly like she had before. The other one, however, was a demon they hadn't seen before. He, too, was a cat demon, but more like a tiger than Koto. He was dressed in jeans, a black shirt, and a short black jacket.
"I'm Koto!" yelled the female demon.
"And I'm the new co-announcer. . .Tero!" The male demon flashed a victory sign.
The mass of demons cheered loudly. Yusuke, Kuwabara, Hiei, Kurama, and Himeko looked out over the crowd from the balcony.
"And welcome to. . ." said Koto
". . .the Dark Tournament!" Tero finished.
"Our first match is between Team Honoo. . ." started Koto
". . .and the infamous Team Zhou! Would the fighters please report to the arena?" said Tero.
The two sets of doors opened and the two teams stepped out.
From the doors below Yusuke's team came Team Zhou, with Tao-Zhou taking broad strides with Jake, Zi, and two others behind him.
From the opposite doors came Team Honoo. It was headed by a 7ft tall blue skinned demon with fiery red hair streaming down past his shoulders. He was flanked by four young women.
"Now, let the Dark Tournament begin!" Koto yelled.
The crowd cheered loudly.
"Would the team leaders now step forward and discuss battle terms?"
Tao-Zhou and the tall blue Demon walked to the center of the ring. Koto put her mike between the two.
"I propose," Tao said. "That we fight to three. The first team to have three victories wins the round. Do you accept?"
"Sure, why not. That's all I'll need," the Demon boasted.
Tao glared at the smirking Demon.
"Well, then. Now that the terms have been agreed upon, let's start!" Tero roared.
Tao and the Demon returned to their team. The groups spoke amongst themselves until two fighters walked ahead.
From Team Zhou's area, a tall fighter (about 6'3") stepped forward. He was dressed in black pants, a tight black shirt, and a brown trench coat with two slits cut in the back. He had short-cropped black hair.
From Team Honoo's area came a girl (about 5'6") in a red tunic with blue hair in a ponytail.
"And the first fighters have stepped up into the ring!" Koto said.
"From Team Zhou is. . .Malekith! And we have Yumi from Team Honoo! Now fighters, begin!"
Malekith moved his hands into a position like he was holding a sword. "Now, Fire Demon, face the power of Dark Fire!" A wisp of flame appeared in Malekith's hands. Slowly, the flame grew larger until it was a sword about 4ft long. The blade was made of a purple-blue flame. "This is the Dark Fire Sword, one of the most powerful weapons in my arsenal of fire magic's. Prepare to lose, Yumi"
The quickly flicked open two fans. The actual fan parts were mad of steel. "Stop talking and start fighting, Daemon." She lunged forward with fans ready. Malekith stood his ground as the warrior bared down on him. "Too afraid to even dodge? Too bad!" Yumi slashed out with her right fan just as Malekith took a step back . . .leaving her open for an attack!"
"This is not a satisfactory fight. Dark Fire!" Malekith swung out with his sword, burning away part of Yumi's dress and scorching her flesh. The girl flew to the side and she landed in a crouch. "Pathetic."
Yumi snarled. "No more holding back. You're going down! Water Arrow . . .FIRE!" Yumi swung her right arm back, and then snapped it forward as an arrow of water appeared in her hand.
The aquatic projectile arced across the arena, and it finally stopped, imbedded in Malekith's chest.
The warrior snarled as he clawed at the object. Steam hissed from the wound and crimson blood trickled from the injury. The Daemon quickly ripped the arrow out of his body, causing the blood to flow faster. He held his hand to the wound, and shot fire from his palm, cauterizing the wound. "Clever technique. It is a powerful Fire Demon that can use water abilities as well. You gain my respect, Yumi. But now the battle ends, as I transform!"
Up in the stands Kuwabara started to shiver again.
"What is it, Kuwabara?" Kurama questioned.
"His . . .his spirit energy . . .it's increasing so quickly!"
Hiei narrowed his eyes. "The oaf is correct. The true strength of a Fire Daemon is released when they transform."
"What's the difference between a Demon and a Daemon anyway?" Yusuke asked.
"Well, detective," Himeko said. "Is that a demon is usually obviously a demon." She gestured to the crowd. "However, a Daemon has the ability to shift between a perfect human form and it's true form. Malekith is about to change into his real shape."
Back in the arena, Malekith was changing. Wisps of Dark Fire grew out of the slits in Malekith's coat. The flames expanded until they became a great pair of wings. Ram horns burst outward from his forehead. Dark blood spattered his coat. His fingernails lengthened into long, wickedly sharp talons. His teeth grew into fangs. His muscles bulged. The newly transformed beast smirked. "Well," he said in a deeper, gravely voice. "Now we can really have fun. Let's see who is better with fire!" Dark Fire exploded around Malekith's fists. "Now it's time for your second does of Dark Fire. The Dark Fire Fist!"
Malekith rushed towards Yumi. He leapt high into the air, and started coming down with lethal force. However, Yumi leapt aside just in time. The ground exploded in flames as Malekith slammed his fist into the ground.
"Well, good dodge."
"That probably would've killed me."
"You're probably right, Yumi. Now let's continue!"
Malekith flew forward again, his fist raised for the attack. She quickly raised her fans in front of her face. His fist collided with incredible force.
`His attack . . .It's so powerful!" she thought.
"I don't think you can take another hit. Let's find out!" Malekith again lashed out with full force. Just as he was about to make contact, she jumped up, planting her heel in his back.
Yumi flew high into the air. She threw one of her fans like a boomerang. The blade cut a shallow slash across Malekith's back. He whirled around just as she caught the blade again.
"It's going to take more than that to stop me, Yumi!"
Malekith jetted forward again, rocketing towards her at an incredible pace. His Dark Fire Fist connected directly with her stomach, sending her flying up, as she grunted in pain. She cartwheeled through the air before crashing back to earth.
"Now, to finish it! Dark Fire Blast!"
Malekith held out one hand, palm facing towards Yumi, and fired out a blast of Dark Fire. The blaze jetted towards her until she too raised her and countered Malekith with her own jet of flame. However, the might of Malekith's Dark Fire was overpowering. She slowly slid back, her heels cutting through the stone floor. She held up another hand, which seemed to push things in her favor. The Makai flames she had used were forcing back the Dark Fire. But if Malekith used his other hand . . .
"Well, I must say, you are powerful, Yumi. However, you are not quite strong enough to defeat me. Goodbye!" Malekith raised his second hand and used it to belt out enough Dark Fire to send the woman skidding across the arena, and out of the ring.
"Well, fans. Look's like Yumi is out of the ring!" Tero stated. Malekith assumed the announcers had said more, but he hadn't heard them.
"I'll start the ten-count. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 . . ." Malekith noted that Yumi started to stir, but she didn't get up. ". . .8, 9, annnnnd 10! Win for Team Zhou! Would the next fighters step up?"
Up in the stands, Hiei grunted. "Hm."
"What's up, Hiei?" Yusuke asked.
"Hm. It seems like that demon down there isn't worried," Hiei said, referring to the Team Leader.
It was a correct observation. Eforitarus was completely unperturbed by his teams loss. The powerful Demon smirked. Team Zhou had only begun to feel the power of Fire. And they would regret ever entering the tournament. Eforitarus would make sure of that.
"I repeat, would the next fighters please enter the ring."
Eforitarus grunted. He shook his head towards one fighter. The fighter nodded and walked into the ring.
"All right, audience. We have our next two fighters. It's Isy from Team Zhou and Hitomi from Team Honoo!" Tero roared. "Let the match begin!"
Up in the stands, Yusuke noticed something startling.
"Hiei, that fighter from Team Zhou looks like a female version of you!"
