Chapter Four: Mysteries of the Deep

Oh, and when I put some thing in these-**, that's the name of the attack they're using.

"Well, fans. Soon battle two of the Dark Tournament will begin. Feel free to move about the stadium, but the match starts in ten minutes!" Koto yelled.
"Well, guys, we've got ten minutes to burn. What should we do?" Himeko asked.
"Hm. I say we visit Tao. See how he's doing. Personally, I want to talk to him. About the past."
"Right! Let's go visit Tao's team, then. Should be fun!" Yusuke said.
The five wandered through the arena until they found Team Zhou, training in one of the Gyms.
"Hello, Tao," Hiei said, darting over to his friend and former ally.
"Hello, Hiei. Nice to see you again."
"My team was impressed by your fight with Eforitarus."
"Hm. He was weak. I was only at 20% power," Tao said, viciously pounding on a punching-bag.
"20% power! Oh, man, I hope we don't fight!" Kuwabara said, paling.
"Don't worry," Hiei said. "If Team Zhou crosses paths with Team Urameshi, I will fight Tao."
The young girl, Zi, darted over to Tao. She made symbols with her hands, which one could only assume was sign language.
"Ah, yes." Tao turned back from the girl. "Everyone, Zi has informed me that the next battle is about to start. Shall we go?"
"Sure! Let's check out the competition!"
The ten walked through the stadium until they returned to the outside area, where Team Urameshi had been before.
"Welcome back, everyone!" Koto yelled.
"It's time for the next battle! It's Team Himitsu against Team Mizu!"
From the door below Yusuke and the others came Team Himitsu. The five were lead by a tall red demon. Behind him was an assortment of other, odd beings.
From the other end came Team Mizu. They were lead by a Dragon-like warrior. The others were pretty normal looking.
"All right, Teams! Please send forward your leaders to decide the terms!" Koto yelled.
The tall red Demon and the Dragon-like warrior walked to the center of the ring. Again, Koto put her mike between the two to hear the conversation.
"I say first to 5 wins. Objections?" The Dragon spoke in a hissing voice.
"I agree, reptile," the other said, his voice low and booming.
The two walked back to their teams.
"Well," roared Tero. "You heard it! First to five wins!"
The first two fighters were ready. From Team Himitsu came a girl in a black Gi with brown hair. From Team Mizu came a man in skater clothes with blue hair.
"And the first fighters have already stepped into the ring!" Said Koto.
"From Team Himitsu comes Kaira! And we have Coranzo from Team Mizu!"
"Fighters ready, go!"
Coranzo drew a sword from a sheath strapped to his back. The sword's blade was reversed, so that the sharp edge was on the inside. "For 201 years I was imprisoned inside a chamber, deep in the ocean. Now, I have returned to the surface as a master of water."
"Frankly, blue hair, I could care less." Kaira held out her hand, and a blue and red Spirit Sword formed. "Let's go. Spirit Sword against real sword."
Coranzo rushed at her. At the last moment, he flipped his sword, turning the sharp edge towards his opponent.
Kaira easily blocked with her Spirit Sword. She swung the energy weapon outwards, pushing Coranzo back.
"Spirit Sword Blitz!" Kaira yelled, as she rushed towards Coranzo, her Spirit Sword swinging wildly. *Spirit Sword Blitz* Her wild, yet powerful, slashes kept Coranzo on the defensive, and she was quickly pushing him back.
The girl hopped into the air, kicked Coranzo's sword out of his hands, and then swung her Spirit Sword into his chest. The Water Warrior went flying back.
Kaira lowered her sword. "Heh. I knew I'd win."
Then, Coranzo came flying back towards the ring, water gushing from his hands. *Tidal Blast* As soon as he was over the ring, he flipped around and blasted Kaira, pushing the girl back.
She flipped back from the serge of water.
"I should not have underestimated you, Kaira. But now I unleash my full power!" The Water Master rushed at Kaira, his razor-sharp claws bared.
Kaira held up her Spirit Sword. Coranzo gripped the energy blade. As he did so, he howled in agony, for the energy burned into her palms.
Coranzo turned towards Kaira.
"Is that all you've got, girl?" the Wolf Demon growled. He fired two blasts of water from his hands, causing Kaira's sword to explode into wisps of energy.
Kaira retaliated with a left hook and an upper cut from the right.
Coranzo stumbled back. Blood trickled from his mouth.
Kaira lunged forward and punched Coranzo in the stomach. She then punched him into the air and round-house kicked him out of the ring.
"I guess it's time to start the count. 1, 2, 3, 4,"
Coranzo gasped for breath and struggled to rise. He managed to prop himself up with his arms, but his elbows collapsed, causing him to fall back down.
" . . .9, and . . .10! Kaira wins! That's one for Team Himitsu!"
"See? I knew I'd win."
Kuwabara suddenly spoke up in the stands. "She uses a Spirit Sword?! That's my move! I oughta' teach her a lesson!" He suddenly became quiet. "Oh, right. I can't hit girls."
The rest of the group laughed.
Back in the arena, the next two fighters entered the ring. From Team Himitsu was a guy in a gray Gi, sandals, and sword-sheath strapped to his back. From Team Mizu came a slender woman in an aqua-green tunic with a white sash tied around her waist.
"Well, Demons and gentlemen, we have our next two fighters! From Team Himitsu, it's Grey! And from Team Mizu, we have Kei!" Tero roared into the microphone. "Ready fighters, go!"
Grey lunged, having ejected his Dragon Claws. He slashed at Kei, but the woman leaned back. She dropped to the ground, kicking Grey in the chin, causing him to crash to the ground.
Kei flipped back onto her feet in a fluid motion.
Grey spun around and stood up. He drew his Katana and retracted his claws. He rapidly spun the blade.
Kei didn't look impressed. "Come on, Dragon boy. I want to enjoy this, not be bored."
Grey snarled. He dashed forward. Black energy surrounded his sword. *Negative Energy Slash* He swung down, causing the black energy to fly of in a spinning arc.
Kei braced herself as the energy blade crashed into her. Her tunic split where it was hit, and blood trickled from cuts. However, the energy dissipated before it could cause much harm.
"Is that all you've got? I expected more. Oh well. I think I'll end this." With this, Kei started to sing an odd song. Grey, and everyone else but the members of Team Mizu, couldn't understand the words.
Grey started to feel tired. It felt like his strength was being drained.
"How do you like the tune? It a little strength draining song devised by my ancestors, the Sirens." *Voice of the Waves*
"Can't focus . . .Must stay awake . . .power leaving . . ." Grey started to sway back and forth. He fell to his knees.
"And know, my next number." Kei started to sing again. This was a different song, and was filled with sharper notes. "I hope you like this one. It's one of my favorite techniques." *Voice of Destruction* "Ha!"
The ground exploded under Grey's feet as Kei yelled, causing him to fly back.
"Now you'll experience my Voice of Destruction technique. I can now cause my voice to emit super-charged shock waves, causing anything I target to be destroyed. It's quite useful." Kei smiled innocently.
Grey tried to stand, but his injuries caused him to collapse.
"Hm, first I think I'll shatter your sword. Ha!"
The sword in Grey's hand exploded, hundreds of shards of metal flying through the air.
Grey grimaced and rose to his feet.
"Grahhhh!" he yelled, holding his arms to his sides, his hands clenched. He lowered his head and smirked. He laughed softly.
"What are you laughing about, Grey?"
"I'm not Grey." He laughed again. He ejected his claws once again, and horns sprouted from his head, parting his snow-white hair. He looked up at Kei, his sapphire eyes shining with cruel amusement. "I'm Zakaroth!"
Grey shot forward, his claws ready to cut Kei in two. Dark energy surrounded his open hands.
"Slash of the Dragon Spirit!" *Slash of the Dragon Spirit*he roared while stabbing out with his right arm.
Kei darted away as Grey slashed outward. The ground exploded where she stood as her opponent drove his arm into the stone.
Kei danced back from the dust cloud.
Grey laughed from within the cloud. "So, still think you're going to win?"
"Of course! Ha!"
The ground exploded under the dust cloud, sending more rock flying.
"You missed," Grey said from behind Kei.
Kei whipped her head around as Grey punched her.
The Siren spiraled into the air. Grey leapt up, and smashed her back to the ground.
Dark energy exploded around Grey's fists again.
"How about another Slash of the Dragon Spirit?"
"How about not!" An orb of water flew upwards at Grey *Water Bomb*.
He smashed the orb to the side, causing it to explode in the stands, making water gush everywhere.
"Hm . . .looks like I'll have to try a little harder. Dark Dragon Spirit Blast!" he roared, firing dark energy from his palms *Dark Dragon Spirit Blast*.
The energy wave rocketed towards where Kei was supposed to be laying. However, she had moved.
Kei flew through the air and kicked Grey in the head.
He turned around.
"Time for a recap of my powers! Slash of the Dragon Spirit!" Grey, again, rocketed towards Kei.
Blood exploded from the slashes he carved into her chest. She dropped back down to the ground.
"And now, the finisher. Dark Dragon Spirit Blast!"
Dark energy blasted from his palm towards Kei. The blast caused the ring to explode into dust and rock.
When the dust cleared, Grey drifted back to the ground. The final blast had completely obliterated Kei's body.
Grey shuddered, and then snapped his head up.
"I'm Grey again."
"And we have another win for Team Himitsu!" Tero roared.
"W . . .wow. He's really powerful," Kuwabara said.
"Yeah, he's pretty dangerous."
"Hm. I don't think you need to worry much, Yusuke. However, the oaf wouldn't stand a chance."
"Watch it Shorty!" Kuwabara swung at Hiei.
Hiei easily dodged.
"Stop fighting, you two," Himeko said.
Zi nodded.
Back in the arena, the next fighters stepped forward. From Team Himitsu came a really pale man in black robes. He swayed as he walked, as if drunk. From Team Mizu came a lean guy dressed in blue. He whistled as he walked into the ring.
"Okay folks," Koto said. "From Team Himitsu comes Corpse! And we have Kuruto from Team Mizu! Fighters ready, go!"
Corpse lunged ahead. He jumped into the air and drew back his hand.
"Demon Javelin!"
Red Spirit Energy burst forward from his hand. *Demon Javelin* It formed a spear about 5ft long.
The mysterious Corpse dove at Kuruto with lethal force.
Kuruto jumped away just as Corpse drove his Javelin into the ground. The explosion sent the Water Demon flying back.
Kuruto stumbled as he landed.
"That was a pretty powerful attack you just used."
"Of course it was! Shut up moron! You shut up! Both of you be silent!" Corpse's voice seemed to fluctuate between three tones. It was almost as if he were multiple beings . . .
Corpse ran down the field, swaying from side to side. In one fluid motion, he jumped into the air and round house kicked Kuruto across the ring.
The Water Demon skidded along the stone floor.
`Ugh, this guy is impossible to predict! How can I beat him?'
Corpse rushed forward again. He punched Kuruto with two knuckles right in the chest. As Kuruto leaned back from the hit, Corpse whipped around his other arm and slammed the heel of his hand (where the arm meets the hand) into Kuruto's cheek.
Kuruto was flung into the air where he barrel-rolled several times before hitting the ground.
`He's an incredible fighter,' Kuruto thought. `He never does the same thing twice! It's amazing!'
Kuruto jumped to his feet. He held his arm out straight, palm facing Corpse. "It's time for the Aqua Dragon of Neptune!"
A blast of water, shaped like a Dragon, burst from Kuruto's hand. *Aqua Dragon of Neptune* The dragon rushed towards Corpse.
When the Dragon hit him, Corpse was flung back. He crashed into the floor after being propelled for 30 feet. He rolled a few times before rising.
"Foolish Water Demon, you can't hurt what's nearly dead! I am Corpse, a thousand beings in one body! I am a human, possessed by a thousand Demons. You cannot stop me!"
Corpse ran towards Kuruto. He jumped up and drew back his right arm.
"Demon Claws!"
Orange energy created what looked like the claws of a Demon around Corpse's hand.
Corpse uppercutted Kuruto, causing his shirt to be ripped open and gashes to form due to the claws. Kuruto was flung into the air. Corpse jumped up and punched Kuruto, sending the Water Demon flying into the wall outside of the ring.
"I don't think I need to start the count after that hit! I believe we can safely say that Corpse wins!"
Immediately, the next fighters walk in. The next fighter from Team Himitsu, a young man dressed in casual human clothes, brushed past Corpse as the multi-demon walked out of the ring.
The fighter from Team Mizu walked in. She was dressed in simple crystal blue robes and had long, dark green hair that flowed down to mid-back. Also, it appeared she was a Cat Demon.
"Well, folks," Tero said. "We have our next fighters! From Team Himitsu, we have Jat! And from Team Mizu, we have Hakatami! Fighters ready, go!"
"Hm. I'm going to end this as quickly as possible. Diamond Dust, freeze her!" Jat held out one arm. Thousands of glistening shards flew at Hakatami.
"It's going to take more than those shards to stop the mighty assassin Hakatami!"
The Cat Demon jumped to the side, apparently avoiding the attack. However, Jat merely continued firing the shards, and turned his hand, following Hakatami as she tried to avoid his attacks. However, Jat is able to hit her leg with a blast.
When Hakatami tried to avoid another blast of Diamond Dust, she found her leg was unmovable. When she looked down, she found out that part of her leg was frozen. When she looked back up, she had only enough time to know she was going to be hit as a blast of Diamond Dust hit her in the chest. Another blast immobilized her other leg, and the last two froze her arms.
"Personally, I want you to witness this final technique of mine. It is one of many in my arsenal, and one of the strongest. And as a water demon, it should really hurt. Luminare!"
Jat held one hand up, palm facing the sky. Dark clouds blocked the sunlight over the open-sky dome. Suddenly, a lightning bolt flashes down to Jat, the electric energy forming a ball in his hands.
"Now, quake in fear as the electrical energy courses through your body!"
Jat hurled the ball straight at the ground where Hakatami stood.
"You missed, Jat."
"No I didn't, Cat."
Suddenly, the ground exploded as electricity surged around Hakatami, forming a dome of lightning. *Luminare*
"Now, condense!" Jat yelled, clapping his hands together. As he did so, the dome imploded on Hakatami.
The Cat Demon shrieked in pain as the electricity coursed through her body. After 5 minutes, Hakatami fell silent.
"That's the longest anyone has ever survived the Luminare. You should be honored, Hakatami.
Jat walked out of the ring.
"And by death, Jat wins, making it 4-0 Team Himitsu! Will the next fighters please enter the ring!" Koto yelled.
The final member of Team Mizu entered the arena. The warrior stood about 7ft tall. The being was covered in blue and green scales. Horns sprouted from its head. It wore blue and green robes. When it spoke, snake-like fangs showed.
From Team Himitsu's area came their mighty Team Leader. The Demon stood about 7ft tall. It was completely red skinned, with flaming hair and baggy red and black robes. A huge Scimitar was strapped to its back.
"Okay! From Team Himitsu, their Leader, Devastator! And from Team Mizu, the mighty Chenwan! Fighters ready, go!"
Chenwan darted forward. He lashed out with his tail, which Devastator easily blocked. The Dragon raked across the mighty Demon's face with its black talons.
"It looks like I'll actually have to try in this match. Feel the pain as thousands of raindrops fall on you with incredible force. The Dagger Rain Storm!"
Chenwan held his hands up to the sky. The clouds, still dark from Jat's Luminare, still hovered above the arena. Suddenly, the clouds burst forth rain. *Dagger Rain Storm* It was almost like a monsoon.
"Like a little rain will stop me? Bah!"
"This is not just rain, Demon! This rain is coming down with a thousand pounds of pressure per square inch of water! This rain will easily destroy you!"
"No, it won't."
Devastator summoned an orb of flame in the palm of his hand. The fire burned not only red and orange, but with green light as well.
"This is the Atomic Fire. It can destroy anything, basically."
The demon hurled the fireball into the air.
Meanwhile the rain kept coming down. Each droplet caused a shallow crater to form in the arena floor.
The orb rocketed into the cloud.
"Explode!" Devastator roared.
From inside the cloud, green and red light exploded outward.
"Is that it? Some stupid light show? Pathetic," Chenwan hissed.
"Wait for it."
Suddenly, the cloud was ripped apart by another explosion, this one of green and red flames. The fire blazed through the sky, forming a raging column of energy around the two fighters.
Chenwan was visibly uncomfortable. He attempted to shield himself from the heat. The Dragon stumbled around the ring, trying to fend off the inferno.
"Some stupid light show, huh?" Devastator said, before driving his Scimitar into Chenwan's skull.
"No . . ." the Dragon trailed off.
The fire dissipated as Devastator wrenched his sword from his opponents skull.
"Miserable fool."
Koto and Tero were visibly frazzled, as it were.
"Well, then. I think we can say that Chenwan is out, so. . .Team Himitsu wins!" Tero roared.
The crowd cheered loudly. They had been given a suitable sacrifice. 3 fighters had been killed, and the two that survived wouldn't be fighting again for a while.
"Damn. . ." Yusuke said. "Those Himitsu guys are intense! I don't want to have to fight them!"
"I don't think you will, Spirit Detective," said Tao. "I believe we will be facing off against Team Himitsu.
"Well, folks," said Koto. "Our next fight will begin once we have fixed up the ring, so I'll ask the Teams to prepare. Team Gijitsu and Team Urameshi are scheduled next, so get ready!"
Yusuke face-faulted. "We're next!? Dang! We either going to fight Team Zhou or Team Himitsu!"
"If you pass Team Gijitsu and the next one," Isy reminded him.
"Oh, yeah. . ." Yusuke scratched the back of his head.
Hello, it's Kurama this time. So, Team Urameshi is up first, and we're facing the Techno-Warriors of Team Gijitsu. It's Sword, Rose, Spirit Energy, and, apparently, jewelry, of all things, against cannons, scythes, and other technologically enhanced weapons and fighters.
