~*~*~*Story Start*~*~*~

~*~*~*One Week Later*~*~*~

A dull buzzing sound was the first thing that I heard when I woke up. I slowly opened my eyes, finding myself staring at a very high ceiling, a ceiling that I knew all too well. Listening to everything around me, I heard the familiar sounds of a stamp hitting against paper, and frantic voices all around me. This was all too familiar for my liking. Narrowing my eyes, I slowly sat up, but hissed when I felt a sharp pain go through my head. I grabbed my head in my arms, and rocked back and forth slightly. I don't know what the hell I did, but it seems like I got hit by a fucking wall, or someone smashed my head through the ground and dragged me for about a mile with my head still stuck in the cement. Pretty graphic I know, but that's exactly what my head felt like and I was not enjoying it at wall, what-so-ever!

“Fuck!” I cursed loudly,” My head hurts, what the hell happened?!” I groaned.

The sound of the stamping stopped, and a high voice filled my ears, making me cringe slightly, damn headache. “It's nice to see you awake again, Kira, I've missed your obnoxiousness.” The tone was sarcastic, and that made an irk mark appear on my temple.

Turning around, and looking over the couch I was sitting on, I glared at the Diaper King himself. Koenma. “And I've missed your smart ass attitude Koenma SIR!” I bit back, just as sarcastically, but smirked when I saw the glare I received, which did not look scary on his baby form at all. Thanks to Hiei, I've gotten use to glares so much they don't affect me. “Scary, scary. What? Did you wake up on the wrong side of the crib today, your highness?” I asked, my smirk growing wider.

“Shut up, Kira!” Koenma snapped annoyed. “I just have many things to deal with, and I wasn't planning on you being one of them!”

“OK,” I yawned boredly, stretching my unused muscles. “Don't throw a hissy fit, I'll leave you alone.”

Hopping up from the couch, I walked towards the door, ignoring the look that Koenma was giving me. I still held my smirk, I loved to make him mad, since he kept all my necklaces and diamonds when he captured me. He wont' let me see them, and I worked so hard to get them too!  I grabbed the door knob and twisting it swiftly.. I was about to walk out, and go to the room that Koenma has me stay in here at the palace, but I was stopped. When I opened the door fully I saw the ogre, George, running full speed at me. I let out a scream and quickly dodged to my right, not wanting to get toppled over by the giant blue helper.

“Koenma Sir!' George shouted. “Hiei found out about the mission and now he's gone!” He was now in front of Koenma's desk, blocking the toddler from my view.

Koenma let out a gasp, his eyes widening as well at the news. There were two specific reasons for that, 1, Hiei wasn't suppose to find out and 2, I wasn't suppose to find out. Knowing how much I was attached to my team, he knew I would want to be notified if they were going anywhere. Mostly because I would love to go on more missions with them, and because I didn't want them to get hurt and I would want to be there to make sure that didn't happen. Koenma gulped, he could already feel the furious glare on his form through George. Hesitantly, Koenma looked around George, instantly being met with a fierce glare from me, making him flinch.

“Please tell me you didn't hear any of that, Kira.” He begged slightly, his voice shaking.

Before he could even blink, I had appeared in front of his desk, and was holding him up by his robes. “What the hell you jackass?!” I shouted angrily. “Why didn't you wake me up if there was a mission?!”

“Kira, please,” Koenma said, laughing nervously. “You were too weak for me to send you out there. I couldn't let you go until you were completely recovered. What kind of a boss would I be if I didn't give you a chance to rest?” He asked, knowing that was complete bullshit.

“Don't give me that shit! I know you sent the two Spirit Detectives before Yusuke out when they were near death! So why the hell are you lying to me?!” I growled, I hated being lied to, he should know that.

Koenma let out a defeated sigh, the scared look now off his face. “Well, I was afraid you would kill some humans in Ningenkai, and that wouldn't look to well on your record. And not to mention mine as well.” He said truthfully, and I blinked at him in surprise, my glare now gone.

“Oh really?” I asked, raising an eyebrow. “Why did the ningens do that would make me want to kill them?” I asked, setting him down on his desk, ignoring the glare Koenma sent me as he fixed his robes.

“Ogre, get the tape please.” Koenma ordered with a sigh.

George quickly complied to his Master's wishes and got a little black tape. Running over to the huge monitor that sat in front of Koenma's desk, he popped the tape into the player, and I sat back down on the couch. The two boys stared at me uneasily, but I ignored them and watched the tape, while sweat dropped at how cheesy the opening was, but my gaze soon turned serious. Apparently an ice youkai named Yukina had been captured by Tarukane, a man in a illegal club named the Black Black Club. He has captured her because ice youkai's tears were very priceless, thanks to them crystalizing into gems. Apparently they have been torturing her to get the gems, and half-way through the tape I couldn't take it anymore.

“That fucking asshole!” I practically screamed out angrily. “I'm going to rip out his heart and make the bastard eat it!” My fist were clenched by my side, my eyes set into a cold glare. How could someone ever think of doing something like that to a defenseless little girl?!

Koenma and George were huddled in a corner, having jumped at my sudden outburst. They were staring at me with wide, fear filled eyes, knowing full well that I would make Tarukane do what I threatened. They would never doubt me, especially when I was being completely serious. But they stopped when I turned to them, apparently calmer than I had been. However, they could still see the anger in my eyes.

“I'm a little confused,” I said, staring at them with a confused expression. “Why would Hiei want to go on this mission anyway? When has he ever been the 'the nice guy'? That doesn't really seem to fit the guys arrogant personality.” I crossed my arms, raising an eyebrow, waiting form my answer.

“Well, if you had watched the whole tape you would've found that out.” Koenma said, giving me an annoyed look, getting over his fear. “Yukina is Hiei's sister.”

My eyes widened when I heard those words pass his lips. My mouth fell completely open in shock, OK if that wasn't a twist than I don't know what the hell is!  A smirk then formed on my lips, picturing Hiei being a protective older brother. But I stopped smirking as well, he was probably really pissed. Both because Yukina was getting tortured obviously, and because Koenma tried to hide the fact the fact that she was getting tortured from him. I'm really surprised that Hiei hasn't killed Koenma yet.

“Man, I guess I won't have to kill Tarukane, it looks like Hiei will do that and everyone else he sees.” I said.

Koenma sighed. “That's exactly why I didn't want him to find out.”

“Well yes, that is his sister, shouldn't he have the right to know if she's getting tortured?” I asked, giving Koenma a look, trying to make him see Hiei's point of view in this. Also, I have no idea why the hell I'm sticking up for him, but I am.

“That's what I said.” George spoke up, glaring at Koenma, but stopped when he got a glare in return.

“See! Even the ogre agrees with me!” I exclaimed, gesturing to George. “Anyway, Koenma can I please go on this mission? I have the skills to sneak into Tarukane's Hideout and get Yukina out before Hiei gets there, and decides to go on a killing-spree.” I said, holding out my hands in a begging motion.

Koenma stared at me with a blank face, but let out a defeated sigh. “I guess you would just go on your own if I said no, huh?” He gave me an annoyed look, especially when I nodded. “Fine, just don't get yourself killed, all right?” Koenma warned.

I smiled happily at him, and gave him a hug. “Thank you, Koenma! I promise I'll be perfectly fine when I get back and Yukina too, and no ningen will be killed on my watch!” I said happily before letting him go, and running out the door, narrowly avoiding thousands of ogres holding towers of papers. Leaving Koenma to shake his head at me. What did he just do?

~Tarukane's Hideout~

Sneaking into Tarukane's Hideout was easier than I had originally thought. Who knew a guy who had so much money would have such a crappy security system, and not to mention terrible guards. I haven't seen any of them since I got here. It was a bit boring I had to admit, I wanted to at least have some kind of action, but I guess I would just stick to the original plan. Sneak in, find Yukina, knock out Tarukane, and get out before Hiei got to the Hideout and kill everyone. Nothing really special or exciting, much to my displeasure. However, if it was to save someone from being tortured everyday, than I was completely fine with going through a boring mission. I just really hope Hiei will appreciate this, or I was going to be so pissed because I am also doing this for him as well. The bastard better say thank you, or I swear...

My thoughts were cut off when my ears picked up the sound of footsteps coming towards me. I couldn't feel any Spirit Energy, so it wasn't a youkai or my team. My eyes narrowing, I got out my Katana quietly, letting my true thief skills shine through. All right that's a lie, I'm way more stealthier than this, but oh well. Focusing back on what was happening, I waited until I saw three people, who I suppose were guards, come around the corner ahead of me. They were wearing strange clothing, that had a big cloak like thing, a white shirt underneath, something tied around their necks, pants that matched their cloak things, and shiny shoes. In their hands they had small metal contraptions, it had a hole in the middle and it made me wonder if it was broken. What the hell were those things?

“There she is.” One guard said, keeping his eyes on me. “Remember, she's fast, so try not to waste any bullets.” He ordered, while the others nodded in unison before I heard four clicks, making me cock my head to the side in confusion.

However, I didn't have time to be confused, a second after the clicking noises came, a loud bang pierced the air. My ears rang painfully, making me cringe, but a gasp escaped my lips when I felt a sharp pain shoot through my left arm, literally. I resisted the urge to grab onto it, but stole a glance, seeing a clean hole right through my arm, luckily missing the bone in my arm. However, I couldn't move it without causing more pain to shoot up my arm. Glaring, I turned back to the guards quickly and disappeared before they could even blink. I reappeared above them, and aimed for the one who had talked. However, before I could even think of wounding him, another set of loud bangs from those weird weapons pierced the air.

My eyes widened, and I quickly moved away, but not quick enough. Another sharp pain hit me, and my side began to bleed profusely, making me hiss as I winced. I landed on the ground, stumbling a bit before regaining my balance. Those weapons were good, too good. *Dammit, I have to get Yukina out of here as fast as I can. God, I wish I could just use my fucking power on these ningens, stupid rules!* I thought annoyed, but I stopped when a sudden idea popped into my head. If I couldn't use powers, than I could make a diversion, it wouldn't hurt them at all! Yes, way to go me!

“Sorry, I would continue this fun little match, however I have more important matters to attend to. Bye.” I said with a smirk.

I jumped into the air, and sending a kick to a near by wall, making it crumble to pieces. The smoke from the debris filled the air, coating the whole hallway in a thick cloud of dust. But thanks to my keen eyesight, I could easily maneuver myself inside there. And as I ran away, I couldn't help but laugh when I heard the coughs and angry curses from the guards as I went pass them. I love making enemies angry, it's just so much fun. But I stopped when I heard bullets fire off again, making my eyes widen. If I somehow get hit, I'm going to be pissed. Just seconds after thinking that, a bit of pain hit my right shoulder, making an irk mark appear. All right, now I'm pissed. Gasping back a shout of pain, I inspected the wound, seeing the 'bullet' has just nicked me, but still took off a bit of flesh, and that hurt like a bitch. Cursing, I put away my Katana, I couldn't use it now, thank you stupid fucking metal weapons, thank you so much!

Refocusing I quickly got out of the hallway that was slowly clearing of smoke, and I rounded the corner that the guards came through minutes before. I let my eyes scan everything that I passed, my ears on high alert, trying to pick up any noise that sounded like a girl's voice. Minutes had passed, and I was quickly growing annoyed with the lack of results, until I heard the worried exclaim of a girl, just what I wanted! Yes!

Stopping I looked around, until my eyes rested on a metal door. Which completely stuck out against the décor that hung in the hallway, and I sweat dropped, I don't think this guy knows how to run a Hideout at all. This is just sad. However, I wasn't going to complain, and I ran over to it, and struggled to open it, but when I did, I looked into the room and quietly snuck in. Inside was Yukina and a short fat man who I believe was Tarukane. Slowly closing the door behind me, I decided to make myself be known.

“OK Tarukane!” I shouted, making both occupants jump, and quickly turn around. “I'm going to kick your ass!” However, it would've been more intimidating if I didn't look or feel like I was going to pass out.

Tarukane possessed a stumpy and nonathletic build, aided by a large stomach and non-existent neck. His disfigured face include sagging, wrinkled cheeks; massive, protruding lips; wide, droopy eyes; and a large, button-shaped bump on his bald head. He wore the same kind of clothe that the guards had to wear, except his were purple. On his right hand was a diamond ring, ooh... No Kira, no!

“Oh my god what the hell happened to your face?! Did you get your head smashed through a wall or something?!” I shouted a bit horrified, my god it was horrible for me to even look at! Ugh! Again!

Tarukane glared, but a smirk came to his lips, making him uglier. “What can you do? You look like you can hardly stand on your own two feet!” He said before cackling loudly.

I glared, as I jumped in front of Yukina, not wanting him to hide behind her if he got close enough to her. I wasn't going to let him use her a shield, the poor girl has been through enough already. “So? I can still beat the shit out of you.” I growled menacingly.

But I was cut off when I heard the door open, letting the guards in from earlier, making me scowl. In their hands were those damn metal weapons, I did not want to be shot again. “Now lets see if you can back up those words little girl.” Tarukane said, his smirk growing wider. He shouldn't smirk.

*Dammit* I thought angrily, a wave of dizziness coursing through me, my wound still bleeding pretty heavily. *This isn't good.*

I was pulled out of my thoughts when the door opened once again, and I resisted the urge to groan. What now?! Looking over, I almost shouted in happiness when I saw who came through the door. Hiei! My god I don't know how happy I was to see him, but I was pretty damn happy. “Hey, I held them off for you. So you better be thankful or I'm going to be really pissed, cause you don't know what kind of shit happened to me.” I said, giving him a smile, although it was pretty pain filled, I really hate those weapons.

Hiei only glanced at me, before he looked at the guards that surrounded him. His eyes were set into a gold glare, making me shiver, I was so glad that he was on my side right now, I don't know how many times I am going to say that, but it's true. But I stopped when I saw that all the guards fall to the ground, knocked out. I sweat dropped, he is so lucky that they are knocked out, or he would so be in trouble right now.

"The game is over, you ugly fool." Hiei growled angrily, at Tarukane. “I saw the talisman cards hung in the tower, that explains why I couldn't find her with my Jagan eye. But you can't run from death forever."

My eyes widened, when I heard the word 'Jagan', no wonder why Yusuke called Hiei 'Three-Eyes' back in chapter 1! But my eyes didn't widen because of that, but because getting a Jagan implanted is one of the worst operations you can go through in Makai. How Hiei managed to even get as strong as he is after that was a surprise to me.

Tarukane cowered in fear under Hiei's glare. "Wait! I don't know who the hell you are! But if it's money your after, we can talk! Listen here, that broad behind you makes jewels you wouldn't even believe! I can pump millions from her!" Tarukane shouted, his voice shaking.

Hiei glared furiously at the ningen, making me flinch. That was not a smart thing to say, especially when that 'broad' was the Hiei's sister, Hiei was not going to let him live now, and I couldn't do a thing to stop him. Shit. Before I could say anything, Hiei had appeared in front of Tarukane, and mercilessly began to punch Tarukane in the face. Blood spurting from the fat mans face, nose, mouth and...eyes. Ick. If Hiei kept up the painful looking onslaught, then Tarukane was going to die. If Hiei wouldn't go to jail, or wherever someone goes after breaking the law, I would've let him and cheered him on, but I couldn't. I bit my lip, I couldn't do a thing to stop him, I was too weak thanks to the blood that I had lost, and it was even a miracle that I was standing.

“Stop it Hiei!” I heard the familiar voice of Yusuke shout. “Don't kill him!”

I looked around, trying to find his voice, and my eyes rested on them. There was a window that separated us from an arena looking room. Inside was a huge guy with muscles, Kuwabara, Yusuke and Botan. I gave them an apologetic look, showing them that I was sorry for not being able to stop him. Hiei, on the other hand, stopped pounding his fists into Tarukane's head, and glanced at them for a brief second. Turning back to his victim, who looked like he was already dead thanks to so much blood flowing from his face, he glared coldly and lifted him up by the collar of his shirt.

“They're just afraid of justice.” Hiei growled.

Hiei pulled back his fist, and I could practically see the fore that was going into it. I shrunk away, my eyes almost closed as I waited to hear the sickening crack of Tarukane's head when Hiei broke it. However, before Hiei could let his fist fly, Yukina ran out from behind me and grabbed his arm, making me stare at her shocked.

“No!” Yukina shouted hugging his arm close to her chest, her eyes brimming with tears. “Please, no more, I beg of you.” She said softly, staring at Hiei's shocked face with pleading and said eyes.

Hiei quickly got over his shocked state, and his eyes narrowed again into a glare. But more o fit was from confusion, why would she try to save this man? I wanted to know too, but I was glad that she stopped him from pretty much throwing his life away. “Are you  crazy!? Is this not the man who tormented you and made you his slave!?" Hiei shouted.

“He is,” Yukina nodded. “I have to bear that, but taking his life won't wash away all that he's done to me. It will only bring more pain, just more nightmares.” Tears slipped down her cheeks as she pleaded. “Please no more, I can't take it.”

Soft clicks resounded off the walls of the now quiet room, four white gems sitting untouched on the ground. I watched Hiei, waiting to see what he would do, seeing him close his eyes, as if thinking it over. My eyes then widened at what I saw next. A small smile formed on Hiei's lips as he opened his eyes, now out of their glare. I blinked rapidly, and then I blinked more, I was dreaming right? I just passed out and I”m dreaming that Hiei is actually smiling, right? But the more I kept blinking, the more I actually believed that this was real. My god, he's smiling!

“Understood, I won't make you cry, he's too worthless for that.” Hiei said gently, and let go of Tarukane's collar, letting his head slam against the desk in front of the window. I sweat dropped again, but shrugged slightly, eh he was't dead.

“How can I ever thank you?” Yukina asked, a smile now on her lips, but it dropped when she looked over at me . “And what about you? You got hurt because you were trying to save me.”

I gave her a smile, and shook my head. “You don't have to thank me, I wanted to help. And as along as you're OK, then I'm good. By the way, I'm Akira, it's nice to meet you Yukina.” I said happily, and my smile grew wider when she smiled as well. Aw, she's so adorable!

“It's nice to meet you as well.” Yukina said smiling, but when she looked at Hiei again, she stared at him in wonder. “You seem familiar, “ She started, making Hiei gasp and turn to her with wide eyes, while I frowned. “But I'm not sure why, who are you?” She asked.

“No on,” Hiei said emotionlessly, looking out the window. “Just a member of the team.”

“What about you, Akira?” Yukina asked, turning to me.

I nodded, ignoring the warning glare that Hiei was giving me, knowing how I reacted when people called me by my first name. “Me too.” I said with a smile, although I tried to keep it from looking sad. It must be terrible for Hiei, having a sister who didn't know who he was at all.

Yukina nodded before she looked out the window, but when she saw Kuwabara and the others still out there, she gasped loudly. “Oh no! I forgot about them!” She said worriedly, quickly running out the door.

I stared at Hiei, my eyes softening as he stared after Yukina's retreating form. I didn't know what to say, and I didn't even know if I should say anything. I was scared that if I said the wrong thing, it would make him mad. I didn't want to cause him to be more upset than he probably already was. Seeing Hiei staring with such emotionless eyes, I bit my lip. I hated waiting in silence, I hated not knowing what to say. Isn't a friend suppose to help their friends through times like these? Why wasn't I able to do the same? However, I wasn't sure if Hiei was my friend, and if he wanted help, he never seemed like the type of person to ask people for support.

“I guess I didn't need to come here after all.” A familiar voice said from behind me, causing me to jump, and I turned around quickly, seeing the red head leaning against the wall.

“Kurama.” I mumbled.

Hiei turned away from the door, and stared out the window,  asking. “How long have you been standing there? Long enough right?”

“Why didn't you tell the girl?” Kurama asked, looking out the window, seeing Yukina running over to Yusuke, Kuwabara and Botan.. “She deserves to know she has a brother.” He said, glancing back a the fire youkai.

“She deserves to be happy.” Hiei replied, giving her a small smile again, and my frown deepened as I looked at him again.

*He's being so nice, just like Kane use to be...* I thought softly.

“I thought the two were the same.” Kurama said, his tone holding confusion. I snapped out of my saddened thoughts, and looked up at Hiei confused as well. I would want to know if I had a brother, especially to help me after I went through something like this.

“This is how I want it.” Hiei said shaking his head lightly.

Kurama nodded, not wanting to press the matter and further, and looked over at me, seeing blood dripping down my leg. “Kira? What happened to you?” Kurama asked, examining my wounds with concern.

“Bullets, I think.” I mumbled, wincing again as I tried to shift my arm, but that only caused more pain to shoot up my arm. “They came from some metal weapons that Tarukane's guards were carrying.” I explained  briefly, not wanting to draw attention to myself.

“Where were you hit?” Kurama asked, walking over to me, looking me over.

“Got nicked in the right shoulder, one went right through my arm, and  one's still in my side.” I said.

“The one in your side looks deep, we need to get that looked at” Kurama said, picking me up bridal style, apologizing when I whimpered once my side brushed against his body. Even if I did't ask him to, he knew I was't able to walk properly, and for that I sent him a smile in appreciation, but my eyes flickered over to Hiei's form.

“Wait.” I said, as I turned to Hiei fully, my expression softening. “Hiei,” He turned to me. “Even if Yukina doesn't know you're her brother, don't try to make her hate you, like my brother did, OK?” I asked.

Hiei stared at me with a slightly shocked expression, but nodded slightly. And I gave him a soft smile, sadness seeping into it as well. Obviously seeing the emotion in my eyes and smile, Hiei turned away from me, his expression now hard. I began to frown again, but the door opening to my left made me snap my head in that direction, wanting to see who was coming through. I gave a slight smile when I saw the familiar black gelled, and blue hair coming through, happy to see Yusuke and Botan. I remember seeing them in a arena, and a man on the floor, obviously having battled to try and rescue Yukina. I was glad that they were all right, but I couldn't help but wonder where Kuwabara was. Looking out the window, I saw Yukina and Kuwabara sitting on the ground. And what looked like tears of happiness and relief in their eyes, making me slowly blink in surprise, but I smiled anyway. They looked cute together.

“Well, we've got a full house, huh?” Yusuke asked looking around the room, a smirk on his lips.

There were three unconscious guards on the floor, and the rest of us, and that made me sweat drop slightly. But Yusuke's smirk dropped when Hiei walked out of the room, not sparing him a glance as he went by.. Shrugging it off, Yusuke turned and looked at me, his eyes narrowing slightly. I rolled my eyes, slightly annoyed, I already knew what was coming.

“What the hell happened to you?” He asked, raising an eyebrow after a second.

“I don't really want to talk about it.” I mumbled.

Kurama chuckled and looked down at me. “We should go to Koenma's now.” He said, while I only nodded mutely.

Waiting a couple of seconds, a swirled portal appeared in front of us, and I closed my eyes as we went through. I couldn't wait to get my wounds healed, however, that wasn't the only thing on my mind. I was silently wishing that he was all right, even if he was an asshole before, no one should have to live with the fact that their sister doesn't know they exist. I may not know how that felt, I could only guess it was sad.

~Five Weeks Later~

After spending two weeks the infirmary, Koenma let me have a little vacation, letting me spend two weeks with Yusuke, Kuwabara, Keiko, Shizuru, Kurama and Hiei in Ningenkai. There wasn't anybody watches us, so it really was like a vacation, however Hiei was a party-pooper during the whole thing. But soon the vacation ended, and Hiei and I had to come back, seeing as how our slates were still uncleared, despite what Koenma had said. I was upset from leaving Ningenkai, seeing as how I had made friends with two more people and Ningenkai was so much fun. However, I couldn't think about that right now. Koenma had just called us to his Office, and his voice held a tone that said that what he had to say wasn't good. It was about ten at night, and I wasn't really in the mood to listen to any bad news. Too bad I didn't have a say in anything.

Pushing the door open with unnecessary force, I stomped into the room with Hiei and Kurama following me, sweat dropping. “It's late Koenma and I'm tired, what the hell do you want?” I asked annoyed, standing in front of his desk with my hands on my hips.

“Kira, I'm not in the mood to deal with your bad attitude.” Koenma said, his eyes holding a serious gaze, making me blink in surprise.

“Sorry.” I mumbled.

“What is this all about Koenma?” Kurama asked, his eyes narrowing in confusion.

Koenma let out a sigh, a solemn look spreading over his chubby face. “You three have been invited as Special Guest to the Dark Tournament, as well as Yusuke and Kuwabara.” He answered, while our eyes widened. Why the hell would we be invited to that tournament?!

“We have?” Kurama asked, seriously. “Why?”

My eyes were still wide with fear and shock, the Dark Tournament was the most dangerous tournament in Makai. The probability of dieing was very high, and all the youkai that participated in this tournament were cold-blooded killers and were extremely notorious. I wasn't a fighter, not by a long shot, and if we entered now, I would surely die in the first round. My powers haven't been mastered except for for four, and that was it. They wouldn't win me anything, and my speed alone wouldn't save my ass. I don't think I could do the team any good if I fought, despite how much I love being on a team with them. I didn't want them to lose or die!

“Kurama,” Koenma said, turning to the fox youkai. “Do you remember a man named Sakyo? He was one of the members in the Black Black Club, the club that Tarukane was in.. And do you remember his bodyguards, the Toguro Brothers?” Koenma asked.

Hiei and I were  slightly confused, but continued to listen. “Yes, but what do they have to do with the Tournament?” Kurama asked.

“Well, it appears that they are making you five fight as Special Guest, and they made it so none of you can turn down the invitation.” Koenma answered, looking down.

“What do you mean? Why can't we say no?” I asked, my eyes widening more with fear.

“If you do, then you all will die, along with everyone close to you. Toguro is strong, and he will come through with that threat, that's why I ask none of you decline. Even if I'm against this, I don't want to take any risks.” Koenma said.

“They sound like cowards to me, I would like to see them try and kill me.” Hiei said, a glare in his eyes.

Koenma shook his head quickly, knowing full well Hiei would challenge Toguro. “No Hiei, you don't know the kind of power that they have. The Toguro Brothers entered into the Tournament fifty years ago, and won. And because they did, they were granted a wish, and they're wish was to be the most powerful youkai to ever live. They weren't even using his full strength when they fought Yusuke and Kuwabara, I doubt it was even 25% of it. You can't take a chance with this, even if you don't want to admit it, they are stronger than all of you and they will kill you.” Koenma said, ignoring the heated glare Hiei sent him.

“Shit, how long do we have til the Dark Tournament starts?” I asked, my voice slightly shaking. I was so going to die, and I thought that having Kane after me was bad enough, now this?! This is so unfair!

“You all have two months to start training, so use your time wisely.” Koenma said, and well all nodded, although mine was very reluctantly. “Now, all of you are dismissed-.” He started to say, but was cut off when the door to his office was busted open by a very frightened looking George.

“Koenma Sir!” Toguro has been spotted in Ningenkai, and near Yusuke!” George shouted, his eyes wide.

“What?!” Koenma and I shouted.

“That's all I heard Sir, what should we do?” George asked.

“You three,” Koenma said, pointing at Kurama, Hiei and I. “Go see what's going on!” He ordered.

~Ningenkai~

Stepping out of the portal, we all found ourselves on top of a building, over looking the large town. However, once I stepped onto the cement, I gave a loud gasp, my eyes widening. Hiei and Kurama looked at me quickly, seeing my shaken form. My eyes were wide with fear, and my 'heart' was beating hard, sweat rolling down my temple. Strong Spirit Energy was floating through out this whole area, I could barely move, my body paralyzed with shock. I tried to calm down, not wanting Hiei and Kurama to worry about me.  I forced myself to suck in a deep breath, trying to calm down my nerves that were now on high alert.

“Onna, what's wro-” Hiei started to ask, but a sudden explosion from a distance cut him off.

Our heads all snapped over to the source of the noise. There was a building that was currently under construction, but there was a skirt of smoke erupting from the middle of it. I had calmed down enough and stared at the building with a suspicious and concerned look, was Yusuke there? From what Koenma told us about Toguro, I don't think that Yusuke would survive an encounter with him, especially when he almost got killed with Kuwabara helping him. Toguro better not have gotten to him, or so help me...

“What the hell just happened?” I mumbled to myself, my voice finally back.

The boys didn't answer, not like I had even expected them to. We all just watched the building as it crumbled to the ground, the smoke slowly dispersing around the rubble. However, the sound of footsteps came from below us made our eyes stray from the collapsed building. There, below us was a man with tanned skin. He had black hair, and his eyes were hidden behind dark sunglasses. He had a green trench coat draped over his bare shoulders, and wore blue jeans and black boots. I knew this was Toguro, I remember him from Tarukane's Hideout, and I glared furiously at him, and I could tell Kurama and Hiei were doing the same.

"I assume from your dismal faces that you've been invited to the competition. On Urameshi's team no doubt?" Toguro asked, a smirk on his lips.

“I'm sure that comes as a surprise to you, huh?” I snapped sarcastically.

Toguro looked stared at me with a studying look, before looking at all of us equally with what I think was a glare of his own. "Youkai who side with ningens, will get no sympathy.” He said, his tone now emotionless.

"Sympathy has never been apart of those fights." Kurama glared, his voice cold.

"As you know the teams are made of six, so you'll have to recruit another fighter." Toguro smirked, and began to walk away, pulling his green trench coat over his shoulder. "For your sake, I hope you find someone useful." And with that, he was gone.

"What is our chance?" Kurama asked softly, his eyes still following Toguro's retreating form.

"Don't ask." Hiei said, walking away, leaving me to watch him with a worried gaze. This wasn't good. If Hiei was acting like this because of Toguro, then that really meant we were screwed.

~A Month Later~

The rustle of the trees was all around Hiei and I as we stared at each other at the center of a field, our hands clutching our Katanas tightly. It was another day in our training, and another day to see if I had improved. Ever since we were notified of the Dark Tournament, I had asked Hiei to train me, to help me work on my speed and how to fight with my Katana better, seeing as how I couldn't do shit with it when I started. However, over this month, I believe I had grown stronger, but right now, I had to focus on this little spar, or Hiei would never let me live it down if I lost because I got myself distracted. Again.

Suddenly Hiei disappeared, making my eyes widen, not expecting him to do that. Not being able to react fast enough, Hiei was able to kick me in the side, causing me to fly. I grunted, one eye closed thanks to the pain that I was now experiencing. However, I wasn't going to let it end so quickly, that would be extremely embarrassing. Quickly flipping in the air, I touched the ground with my hand and pushed myself up, flipping back towards the ground. I looked around, my eyes snapping from side to side, waiting to see any type of movement the fire youkai would make to let me know he was coming.  My eyes twitched when I heard an irregular movement behind me, and I whipped around, bringing my Katana up. Sparks flew and the sound of metal echoed across the area. Breathing out a silent sigh of relief, I smirked at Hiei as I held his Katana off, and he only returned it.

I jumped away quickly, and disappeared, leaving Hiei to widen his eyes slightly. I couldn't help but smirk at that, I was getting faster if I  could make Hiei do that. Not wanting to jinx myself, I hid in the shadows of the trees, and gathered energy into my hand, a small ball of purple electricity crackling softly. “Lightning Orb.” I whispered too quietly for anybody to hear. Once I had enough Spirit Energy gathered into my orb, I let it fly, quickly disappearing once it left my hand.

Hiei's ears picked up the sound of electricity and turned around, seeing the Lightning Orb flying at him with incredible speed. Smirking to himself, Hiei let his Katana slice through the center, but the Orb only returned to it's original shape, making Hiei glare and jump back, the Orb following him. Looking over his shoulder, Hiei dodged trees limbs, but making sure to keep the Orb in his sights. However, by doing so, he left himself open. I had to keep myself from snickering, as I crept up closer to him, jumping from tree limb to tree limb. Once I was close enough, I disappeared once again, and appeared in front of him. Hiei's eyes widened at the sudden appearance, and braced himself. I let out a snicker before sent a punch to his left jaw, sending him backwards and slamming into the ground. The Orb following, causing a mini explosion to occur. However, it was't enough to kill him or really hurt him either. That would require a lot of my Spirit Energy.

Landing back into the clearing, I let a sigh of relief pass through my lips and I fell on my ass, a happy smile on my lips. Or, until I felt a cool blade press up against my neck, making me momentarily freeze up, before I scowled. Every single damn time! Why can't I fucking beat him for once?! God I swear one of these days I'm going to beat him in sparring and then I'm going to beat him in a real match, and then we'll see who has the blade to their neck!

“Dammit! I thought I got you!” I shouted, turning around once the blade left my neck.

Hiei slid his Katana back into it's sheath, smirking slightly at my angered form. “You did, but you left yourself open. Once the Tournament begins, never let your opponent live, or you will die.” He advised, seriously.

I nodded before letting a sigh of defeat pass through my lips, and I pushed myself off the ground. I looked at Hiei with a look of annoyance, one of these days I really was going to beat him, or so help me I'll... I stopped my train of thought when I found myself staring at Hiei longer than I should have, and a dark blush covered my cheeks. I quickly turned away, hoping to whoever would listen that Hiei didn't notice. Yeah, I know, I'm blushing, and it's over Hiei. I was even more surprised than you when I first found out why. Over the course of our training together I found myself having feelings for him. I believe this was ningens called 'crushes' which is a really strange name, but that's what I have heard. At first I didn't think it would make training harder, but it did. Whenever we would spar, he would take off his fucking shirt every damn time! Not that I minded though...

“Baka!” Hiei shouted from far away, snapping me out of my thoughts. “Let's go!”

An irk mark erupted on my temple, and I glared at the fire youkai heatedly. “You bastard! Get your short ass back over here and say that to my face!” I snapped angrily.

Hiei's eyes narrowed, and before I could blink, he was in front of me. “Baka Onna, let's go.” He said, right in my face, making my glare darken dangerously. That only made him smirk in return.

Keeping my smirk hidden, I summoned my Dark Portal behind him. My eyes flashed with hidden laughter before I pushed Hiei in, and closing it up quickly. “That'll wipe that fricking smirk off his face. “ I thought, chuckling happily at my work.

Deciding there was nothing to do with Hiei gone, I began to walking towards Kurama's training ground. Luckily his was stationed next to the one Hiei and I used. Making my walk very short, probably about a two minute walk give or take. Soon I began to hear the chopping and smacking of the bamboo trees, and I saw the red head training. Whenever I saw the boys training I also felt so weak compared to them, wishing I had their strength, but I quickly shook those thoughts away and walked over to him.

“Hey Kurama!” I said happily, making the fox youkai stop and turn around.

Kurama gave me a smile when he saw me, and lowered his Rose Whip. “Hello Kira, where's Hiei?” He asked, his eyes scanning for the fire youkai.

I leaned against a bamboo tree. “Dunno, kind of pushed him into my portal.” I said nonchalantly.

Kurama's eyes widened. “Kira that isn’t safe, what if he's in another dimension?” He asked concerned for his friend.

“Well, what can I do now?” I asked, making him sigh, but as soon as Kurama began to train again. I felt a very familiar sharp blade press against my neck, the pressure building ever second that passed, and I sweat dropped, a blank look on my face. “Uh, Kurama?” I called, not trying to sound scared.

“Yes?” Kurama asked, turning towards me again.

“I found him.” I said making him sweat drop, and I turned around cautiously. “H-hi Hiei, how was your trip? Go-good I hope.” I let out a nervous laugh, seeing the murderous glare begin directed at me. Not wanting to stick around any longer, I quickly disappeared and book it, shouting. “I'm sorry! I'm sorry!”

“No you're not! Not until I get through with you!” Hiei shouted angrily.

My 'heart' was beating wildly as I looked over my shoulder. Hiei was right behind me, great.  I was beginning to think I was dead until I  got an idea. I quickly gathered my energy and made my Dark Portal appear in front of me. Smiling at my savior I picked up my speed, just getting ahead of Hiei. Jumping through, I made sure to close it quickly, not wanting Hiei to be right behind me. And when I appeared in my room, I let a smirk fall on my lips.

I win.

Ending it here! I hope you liked it!
