~*~*~*Story Start*~*~*~
Ignoring the aching pain in my chest, I continued to glare at the Rokuyukai Team, but it was only to mask my nervousness. With the first match drawing to a close, that meant that the Team Leaders would have to fight. My eyes traveled behind me, resting on Yusuke's form. His eyes were still closed and his breathing was even and content. I bit my lip, damn him for still being asleep while I was over here worrying about the team! I still don't understand how he can just sleep through all of this, Kuwabara and I could have almost died in our matches and he didn't even sense anything wrong. I'm not sure if he has a lot of faith in us to win, or he's just an idiot, but I am willing to go with the first one just to make myself feel better about him. But if this kept up, I am so going to go with the second choice.
“Will the next two fighters please come forward?” Koto asked, making me turn back to her. She was looking at the two teams with a smile, and the crowd of youkai were giving her support. However, when no one stepped up, a frown made it's way to her face. “Next fighters forward!” No one went. “Hello?!” She yelled a bit annoyed, glaring at all of us.
However, the annoyed look dropped when her ears picked up the sound of footsteps coming towards her. Turning around, her eyes widened, as well as Kuwabara's, when she saw who had stepped into the ring. Zeru. He was walking towards the center of the ring, his hands stuffed in his pockets, trying to give off a bored and uncaring air around him. But I let out a smirk, knowing that wasn't the case at all. He was angry, and he was getting angry because we were now dominating. It was the only reason I could think of, and when I saw his eyes narrow ever so slightly when he looked over at us, that only confirmed my thinking.
Kurama narrowed his eyes. “What? They're Team Leader is fighting now?” He asked, a bit shocked.
“But,” Kuwabara spoke up, looking shocked as well, but was showing it more than Kurama was. “He should go last, maybe there was a mistake.” He suggested, but he didn't look to sure of what he said.
I smirked. “One word: Desperate.” I said, letting the word come out in a sing-song tone.
Kuwabara gave me a skeptical look. “Why would they be desperate? I'm not saying we can't win this, but Zeru looks kind of confident.” He said, giving Zeru an uneasy look.
“No,” Hiei said stepping forward. “The Onna was right, they're getting desperate. Don't forget, Zeru is the strongest of the four remaining. He's also fighting angry, it's obvious he's not taking this seriously enough.” He explained, and I smiled, happy that I was right.
Botan rolled her eyes as she turned to Yusuke, who continued to sleep. “Yes, and we're the picture of professionalism.” She said sarcastically.
“Urameshi Team,” Koto said, annoyance evident in her tone. We looked at her, seeing her hand on her hip as she glared at us with green eyes. “Can we get on with it here?” She asked, quickly growing impatient with us stalling the match.
I threw her an annoyed look as well, but my gaze was instantly traveled over to Zeru. Hiei was right about him being stronger than the other four, and that was saying something considering I almost got my ass handed to me by Kenta, and I would have if I wasn't so stubborn to lose. That simple little fact scared me, and I was worried about who would fight him. Even if it's Hiei, I'll still be worried. However, I shook the negative thoughts away and narrowed my eyes at his form. I want either Hiei or the Masked Fighter to kill this guy. I say this because Hiei will make it painful, and the Masked Fighter will make it look awesome. I turned towards the ring fully, and crossed my arms, waiting for one of them to step up. I let a smirk show, this match was really going to be interesting.
“I'll go,” Hiei spoke up, smirking. “This one's been irritating me since last night.” He said, taking off his blue collar. Wait...blue collar?
Blinking as I watched the strange colored collar fall the ground, it finally clicked in my head.Turning to the fire youkai, I suddenly noticed that he had different clothes on. He didn't look so depressing and dark thanks to his non-black clothes. He was wearing what I think was a chinese battle shirt/robe, which was dark blue, light blue, yellow and on the inside, red, while his pants stayed the same, black. I had to keep myself from smacking myself in the head, how the hell did I not notice this?! Looking at the others, I noticed Kuwabara the same, the Masked Fighter didn't count, Botan obviously did but I noticed, Yusuke didn't really count, and... Kurama was wearing something different as well. Damn me and my oblivious nature!
“Team Rokuyukai, Zeru! And Team Urameshi, Hiei!” Koto announced suddenly.
Ignoring my annoyed thoughts about myself, I looked back at the ring, obviously hearing that, and saw Hiei standing at the center. He and Zeru were locked in a stare off, something that is common now in our matches, their eyes both emotionless and cold. Although, it was actually clear that Hiei was slightly uninterested, while Zeru was the only one staring coldly. The tension was thick in the air, much like it was when Hiei was up against Seiryu, but if this match was anything like that one, I don't need to worry at all. However, I still had to make sure not to underestimate Zeru's abilities, especially what he did last night in our room. I still don't know how he did that, but right now, that wasn't really important.
A smirk suddenly appeared on Hiei's lips. “I know a great deal about your technique,” he announced, catching our attention. “You harness heat energy with such great precision that it resembled a knife cut. But one of the edges was sloppily melted, you have your flaw.” Hiei stated.
Zeru didn't make an reaction to Hiei's insult, and remained completely emotionless. “As do you, Hiei, I don't think I need advice from someone who has to use a fake eye.” He retorted.
“Uh oh,” I mumbled. “Zeru's gonna die now.” Noticing the smirk drop from Hiei's lips, that wasn't smart.
Looking between the fighters, Koto rose her hand. “And fight!”
Once Zeru heard those words, fire erupted from him, the angry flames licking a the air dangerously. Koto gasped as the flames almost hit her, and she quickly left the ring, wanting to get a safe distance from the fire. However, despite all the flames flaring around in the ring, Hiei stayed perfectly still. His eyes showed nothing, although I believe there was boredom, and I was quickly growing bored. If this was all Zeru was gonna do, then this fight won't be lasting too long. Especially if Hiei found no reason to take any of this seriously, so I just crossed my arms and looked on with a slightly bored expression myself.
Zeru took notice of Hiei's lack of response. “Not intimidated yet?” He asked, but it wasn't really a question.
When Hiei didn't move, Zeru's eyes narrowed ever so slightly, and that made me tense up. Zeru's gaze didn't change as his Spirit Energy spiked, and the flames brightened and grew rapidly, shooting at Hiei and us. My eyes widened at the closing in fire, and I was suddenly pulled to the side, making me stumble. I looked over my shoulder, seeing Kurama, who was glaring at Zeru. Remembering to thank him in the future, I looked for Kuwabara, Botan, Yusuke and the Masked Fighter. Kuwabara was on the ground looking scared, Botan apparently dragged Yusuke out of the way, and the Masked Fighter was holding up some kind of barrier that saved himself while the other youkai outside of it got burned. If this was any other time, I would have laughed. I let out a sigh of relief that everyone was fine, but when I heard the sound of someone I knew laughing, I instantly looked back at the ring with a surprised look on my face. Hiei laughed?!
Zeru's expression never changed. “I wouldn't laugh just yet.” He warned, holding up his right hand, a ball of fire forming a few inches above his palm.
Pulling back his fist, Zeru shot multiple strings of fire at Hiei, illuminating the area brightly. Hiei jumped away effortlessly, making the shots of fire fly into the air or into the crowd, the familiar sound and smell of youkai being set on fire filled the air. However, I didn't pay that any mind, I just stayed staring in shock and awe at how Hiei dodged the shots while in air. It was as if he was flying, which not even youkai can do, and I could tell the others were staring in awe as well.
“Unfortunately Hiei wasn't chard by the fire, but there's more coming his way.” Koto announced, eyes fixated on the fire youkai.
Koto was right, Zeru just kept throwing more and more fireballs and streams of fire at Hiei. However, all Hiei was doing was dodging, like he wasn't in any danger, it made me really envious, especially considering my state. But that was't important right now, this still was the beginning of the match. My eyes darted around the area, keeping them on Hiei's form as he landed on top of the stadium, only to jump away as more fire came. The fire crashed into the spot that Hiei once occupied, making the ceiling crumble and fall onto the 'innocent' youkai below, burying them under hundreds of pounds of debris. I had to bite back a smirk as I watched that, but when Hiei appeared back into the ring, I turned serious again and refocused.
Hiei was standing his hands still in his pockets, his expression bored. It looked like he didn't even break a sweat while doing all of those dodging moves, and I had to shake my head at how he was dealing with this. Even if he is a good fighter, he doesn't have to act like this isn't important. But I stopped myself from saying anything, and turned my attention to Zeru, wanting to see his expression. To my happiness Zeru wasn't look all amused, he was beginning to look down right pissed, but the expression right now was annoyed. I liked seeing opponents who were so cocky and full of themselves face defeat, it always made me laugh when ever they reacted badly. And by the look on his face, this was going to be fucking hilarious.
“Zeru's blows are fantastic, and Hiei must run for his life!” Koto smiled happily, but she frowned as she looked at the crowd, some were running from the fires that still lingered. “Along with a good deal of the fan base.” She said, a bit nervously.
Another fireball formed in Zeru's hand as he narrowed his gaze on Hiei once gain. “You've become so quiet now, too frightened to notice any of my supposed 'flaws'?” He asked sarcastically.
“Actually...” Hiei started, his expression never changing. “I'm bored.”
“Actually you're dead!” Zeru growled.
Fire erupted around Zeru's form once again, however this time was different. My eyes narrowed as I watched the fire begin to melt away, forming to his skin. I had no idea what he was going to do, but from the increase in his Spiritual Energy, I knew it couldn't be good. Watching as the seconds pass by, Zeru's skin began to tint darker and darker, slowly turning red. However, I had to back up as the fire still whipped around his form, lashing out at Hiei. I glared, feeling the heat of the flames warm my skin uncomfortably, making it hurt slightly. But my mind wasn’t' on my condition, only on the match, despite my suspiciousness, I couldn't help but feel anticipation for the attack. Call me mean, but I was really curious.
Kuwabara back up as well, glaring at Zeru. “This guys kinda crazy.” He said, his tone nothing but serious.
“No kidding,” I mumbled, seeing Zeru's skin now turn completely red.
Koto stared in wonder as she gazed at Zeru's reddened form. “Huh? What's this? Oh wow! His skin is changing color!” She gasped as she dodged a stray stream of fire. “H-He seems to be engulfed in heat, he's glowing like a poker.” Koto informed, staying a safe distance away, but kept the same wonder filled gaze on the taller youkai.
“Heh.” Hiei smirked, glad that Zeru was finally taking this seriously, although that wasn't smart.
Zeru glared, and before any of us could blink he ran at Hiei, pulling his right hand back. My eyes followed quickly, and it was as if everything went in slow motion. Zeru running, letting his hand fly forward, and it going through Hiei's chest before he could even begin to react. My mouth fell open in shock, a gasp falling through my lips. I, as well as everyone, watched as Hiei let out a strangled shout of pain, his body almost disappearing beneath the flames that burst around him. From the force that Zeru put into that attack, Hiei was sent flying into the air, and all I could do was watch.
“Nice one!” Koto shouted, breaking me from my shock.
Zeru didn't look pleased at all, not satisfied with the pain Hiei was showing. “I'm not finished yet.” He said, and got into a position, letting his fist fly forward as he let out a shout.
What shot out from Zeru's fist looked like a ball of wind, with bits of fire floating around in the strong current. The ball swerved in air, going towards Hiei's form at an incredible speed before connecting painfully, emitting a bright light. Hiei let out another pain-filled shout, making anger flare through me. Not because he was my 'crush' or whatever the hell it is, but because he was my friend, I do NOT want any of my friends dieing.
“Hiei!” I shouted, worry lacing his name.
“Wow Zeru,” Koto looked shocked as she stared at the blonde. “You never told us you could be so...savage.” But the smile returned, not missing a beat. “I love it!” She shouted smiling, looking at the burning fire youkai as he slammed into the ring once again.
“No!” Kuwabara's eyes widened, taking a step back. “No, I can't believe it!” He shouted in denial.
“You see it yourself people, Hiei is done!” Koto announced.
I stared as Hiei's form continued to burn brightly, the flames licking at his body hungrily. My eyes were still wide, and a cold feeling ran through me, but anger burned through me soon enough. A glare seeped it's way to my red orbs, and they found their way to Zeru. I wanted to so badly jump into the ring, and stab my Katana through the bastard's fucking eye and make it come out his ass. The others beside me, even if their expressions showed shock, I could tell they wanted to do the same, he was our friend after all. And it killed us to have to watch it happen, to not being able to stop it.
Zeru walked forward, a glare in his eyes as he looked down at Hiei. “What a weak thing, you can rest in hell.” He spat in disgust as he walked away, making me growl angrily.
Hearing Zeru's footsteps walk away, Koto got out of her shocked state. “Well yes, that fight wasn't a long one, but when you've got scorching moves like Zeru's, a little goes a long way.” She said, watching Zeru's back as he continued to head towards his team.
“Yes,” a familiar voice said, the word laced in ice.
Zeru's eyes widened in horror, instantly stopping as he heard the voice. Kurama, Kuwabara, Botan and I stared in shock, also hearing it as well. All eyes turned back at the burning form that now stood up in the ring, very much alive. The anger and sadness instantly left as my eyes fell upon Hiei, and a smile lit my lips. However, I blinked slightly as I took in Hiei's appearance. The chinese shirt that he had on was completely gone, and his blue undershirt was the only things that was covering his torso, although barely with the hole through it. But that wasn't what caught my attention, it was his expression. His eyes were slightly shadowed and a evil smirk was on his lips, making me shiver slightly, if I thought his tone was cold, then the look in his eyes could freeze over Hell.
“He's so talented,” Hiei began again. “I'm reluctant to make the kill.” He said, smirking wider.
Koto's eyes widened. “Oh my! Hiei survived, he's on his feet, he's smoldering!” She said amazed, seeing the fire youkai still alive after that attack.
Zeru stepped back, fear etched across his features. “H-H survived it all, how could you..?” He asked, his voice shaking from horror. Hiei's eyes glinted dangerous, making Zeru back up even more, having a feeling that he wasn't going to make it out of this match alive.
The smirk widened on Hiei's lips as a purple flame burned the white headband around his Jagan eye. The purple iris eye peeked through, staring Zeru down unblinkingly. “I believe we've covered that, so my Jagan eye may not be natural, but it does give me exactly what I need!” Hiei's Spirit Energy rose, his Jagan eye glowing brightly as it continued to increase. “Dragon of the Darkness Flame!!” He shouted, a sphere of transparent white light appearing around him.
“Then it's true, he's going to attempt the Darkness Technique.” Kurama said shocked.
Botan turned to him, confusion in her pink eyes. “The 'Darkness', what does that mean?” She asked, both curious and a bit nervous.
“You'll see soon enough.” Was her only reply from the red haired kitsune.
“Hey Kira,” Kuwabara said, looking down at me.
Glancing away from Hiei, I rose an eyebrow at the ningen next to me. “What?” I asked, my eyes keep glancing back at the ring, not wanting to miss a thing.
“Are you able to do this 'Dragon Darkness' thing? You are a Darkness demon right?” Kuwabara asked.
I shook my head slightly as I turned back to Hiei. “No, I'm a Shadow youkai, and before you ask, no there are is no such thing as a Darkness youkai. There's only a Darkness Technique and apparently Hiei knows about it.” I said, not wanting to go into full detail of this little Technique, he would see what I'm talking about.
Zeru stared on in horror as Hiei held a black and purple flame in the palm of his palm, it levitating above his skin by a few inches. “That flame is from the deepest depths of Reikai, oh help me.” He whispered to himself, his voice still shaking, obviously knowing of the Technique as well.
“Oh no, no one is helping you now you bastard!” I shouted, smiling wickedly. “That's what you get for threatening my friends, have a nice time in hell!”
“You have a lot of problems, don't you?” Kuwabara asked, sweat dropping.
I continued to smile. “Oh you have no idea, Kuwabara, no idea.” I said, but my smile dropped when I felt the immense Spirit Energy forming, my attention was directed towards the ring once again, Kuwabara doing the same, obviously feeling it as well.
I watched in awe as the once blue sky began to turn a blood red color, lightning flashing angrily across the sky. The sudden rush of Spirit Energy could be felt all around, making my skin tingle. Black beams of light came down from the clouded sky, black electricity crackling around them. Quickly turning my eyes back towards the ring, I saw black flames surrounding Hiei's form. The flames flickered in place, while the flames around his right arm lashed around, the black lightning crackling around it as well. I felt excitement run through me, I've heard of this Technique before, and being able to see it be preformed was amazing. Despite myself, I got closer to the ring, wanting to see it up close when Hiei released it.
“You know it's impossible to control it completely, once I release it I have no say.” Hiei explained, and I couldn't help but sweat drop, great going me... “I have the power to pull you into oblivion, I assume just my right arm will do.” Zeru took a step back out of fear, seeing the blood-lust rising in Hiei's eyes. “You should have never insulted the Jagan Eye, because you see, in a way it has it's own mind, and loathes disrespect. Resisting it is not something I would do.” He warned with a smirk.
Koto stepped back, fear written all over her face. “I realize that I'm suppose to stay, but in light of this little situation we have here...” She trailed off, but when she turned around, and jumped off the stage, she shouted. “Retreat!”
It was a good thing she did though, the Dragon of the Darkness Flame was very powerful and being close to it would be really stupid. Refocusing back on the 'fight', I looked on intently, watching as Hiei held his arm, a purple org forming in his hand. “Dragon of the Darkness Flame!” Hiei shouted, the intensity of the attack burning the remainder of his undershirt, it gone in seconds.
Keeping my eyes off of him, which was rather hard, but I managed to do it. I watched as the black flames spiraled out of the orb in Hiei's palm. Fire shot out of the ground, ripping up the ring as the Dragon appeared, even more amazing than I had pictured it. It's body rippled with the heat of the hungry flames, his purple eyes matching the same bloodlust that appeared in Hiei's. It's eyes roamed for a split second, until it's cold gaze rested upon Zeru's frozen form. Not even having a second thought, it flew through the air at such a great speed that I barely even registered it. However, I saw Zeru's body being consumed by the hellish flames before the dragons head slammed into the wall, the only thing left behind was a black cinder, and nothing else.
Moving my arms away from my face, I looked at the only person still in the ring. Hiei. I stared at him with my mouth slightly open from shock. “Hiei has succeeded.” Kurama said in awe, breaking the silence, the others, however, didn't notice, still staring in complete shock at what they saw just moments ago.
“I'll say,” I mumbled, but smiled widely. “That was amazing! Go Hiei!” I shouted, pumping my fist in the air.
Ignoring my shouts, Hiei stared down at his burnt arm, it now a charcoal black. But the sound of a certain fox/cat youkai brought him back to reality. “Where's Zeru?” Koto asked, sitting on her knees as she crawled back into the ring, but gasped when she saw the scorch mark on the wall to her right. “There's his outline at least...Well he's definitely out of the ring.” She said, coming to the painfully obvious conclusion.
“Believe me, he's not coming back.” Hiei spoke up, turning to her. “That cinders all that's left.”
“Yes, then I suppose counting to ten would be a little ridiculous.” Koto nodded, before she quickly stood, motioning towards the monitor that had Zeru and Hiei's pictures. “Let's give it up for Hiei!” She shouted as Zeru's picture darkened, but there was no applause, everyone was dead silent.
“Yeah!” Kuwabara shouted, clenching his fist with a smile on his face. “We're punching our way to the top! Hiei can beat anyone with that move!” The smile dropped, and Kuwabara's face was stricken with fear. “Hiei can beat anyone with that move, do I listen to myself? What if he decides to be a bad guy again? What if he decides to shoot us with the Dragon?!” He shouted again, his eyes wide.
I stared at him, sweat dropping. “Kuwabara, calm down, I don't think Hiei would try and kill us now.” I said, resisting the urge to roll my eyes at him.
“B-But, Hiei tried to kill us before! How could this time be any different?!” Kuwabara shouted, thinking back to Maze Castle. I took in a deep breath and sighed, I didn't know what to say to that, it was true that he did try to kill us, but I know Hiei isn't that bad.
“Don't worry, Fool, we've entered into an alliance, and I'm not the type to break it.” Hiei said walking over to us, his hands in his pockets. And I couldn't help but notice his burnt arm, but I didn't say anything.
“See, Kuwabara?” I turned to him smiling. “Hiei won't kill us.” I said, a smug look on my face.
Hiei shot me a smirk, and continued. “Of course after we win the Tournament, I can't guarantee a thing.” He said walking away, but flinched ever so slightly as he got off the ring.
My right eye twitched as I followed him. “Oh you are such an ass!” I shouted with an irk mark.
“Just stating the truth, Onna.” Was my reply.
I huffed, throwing my hands in the air. “You always state the truth, lie for fuck's sake, just lie!” I shouted, but after I did, a wave of dizziness washed over me. I put my hands on my knees, and took a deep breath trying to clear my head again, damn injuries!
“Kira, are you all right?” Kurama asked worriedly.
I looked up at him, panting slightly as I nodded. “Yep, just arguing with Hiei is exhausting.” I said.
“That's because I always win.”
“Shut up!” I shouted, looking at the smirking fire youkai.
Botan sighed, walking over to me. “Don't work yourself up so much, you lost a lot of blood and you could re-open your wounds if you're not careful.” She said, giving me a look.
“Yeah, yeah, all right Mom.” I mumbled, sticking my tongue out at her.
“Well someone needs to look after you, you're so stubborn you'd let yourself bleed to death before asking for help!” Botan said exasperated.
I pouted. “I feel like a burden when I do that though!” I said in my defense.
“It's better than dieing Kira, you are a very important friend to us.” Kurama said, his smile gentle and nice, like always, making my cheeks warm up at the sound of that. Most of it was because of embarrassment, and the other was because Hiei was included in that, or I hoped.
Hiei scoffed, rolling his eyes. “Speak for yourself, Fox.” He said, looking away.
Hiding the hurt expression, I stuck my tongue out at him. “And I worried about you dieing for nothing, next time I think I should dance and sing.” I said with a glare, but a smirk came on my lips. “Oh and by the way, how does your arm feel Hiei? Does it hurt?” I asked, feeling the glare landing on me.
“Watch it, Onna.” Hiei growled, eyes narrowing while the others sweat dropped as they saw electricity sparking between us as we glared.
“Make me.” I challenged, getting in his face, not backing away when his eyes flashed dangerously.
However, before Hiei could retort, all of us heard the sound of two pairs of feet running. Our heads snapped to attention, completely forgetting the fight that was going to ensue. We saw the other two fighters for the Rokuyukai team running away, leaving Rinku behind. I stared at them, my mouth open slightly in shock, they would leave a little kid to fight the last match?! Right now I'm not really fond of Rinku, but that's just terrible! I quickly grew out of my shocked state and glared at their backs as they ran towards the door they came out of at the beginning of the Tournament.
“Wait!” Rink shouted. “Don't leave me here!”
I hated youkai like them, poor Rinku. “Cowards, they deserve to die.” I hissed, still glaring.
The two youkai disappeared into the darkness of the door, but it was apparent that they didn't make it very far. The sounds of their shouting and the sounds of punches hitting skin made us all stare at the door with confused expressions. Not just because of what we were hearing, but because we didn't feel anybody else besides those two youkai. And it was obvious someone else was in there, because it would just be stupid if those two decided to kill each other. But all questioning thoughts ceased when some man came out of the door way, holding the two dead youkai from just a few seconds ago.
I blinked in surprise, while everyone turned to me. “What?!” I asked, my eyes wide. “I didn't really mean it!” I said in my defense, and they turned away, I think trying to suppress smirks. Jerks.
Getting over my surprise, I watched as the man dropped the tow youkai to the ground. But I kept my gaze on the new man, mostly because it was really hard not to. He was a very tall individual, who could tower over most people by at least four inches. He had a long, blue mohawk with a sort of rat-tail styled back hair. The two ends of his hair were wrapped up with a red ribbon. He had a messy and rather short goatee and mustache, as well as two green striped tattoos under his eyes. He wears black boots and a blue sleeveless shirt, both fur lined. He also has olive green pants and a red belt, and in his hand was a vodka bottle.
The man walked, or stumbled, over towards the ring. “Damn, it's bright out here.” He slurred, his Australian accent poking through at times.
“You're here?” Rink asked, slightly nervous.
The man ignored him, chugging the last of his vodka, while I grimaced and scrunched my nose at the smell. I hated alcohol. After swallowing the last of his drink, the man threw the bottle on the ground, letting it smash into two pieces. “Hey, would you explain it to those guys not to run away again? There's a fight to fight, you know it's not my fault I killed 'em.”
Walking over to the ring, the man grabbed onto it, trying to lift his feet off the ground. “OK, upsy daisy.” But from being so drunk, he wasn't able to pull it off, and he fell back on his ass. “Hey, no need to make the ring taller, let's just have some fun. It is bright out here.” He slurred again to the wall, a sloppy smile on his lips.
“Oh dear,” Botan said, stepping back. “A drunk mad man has escaped to the ring.”
I couldn't help but nod as I watched him finally get into the ring, but as he tried to walk forward, he lost his balance. Falling on his ass again, he sat indian style before pointing at Koto. “Hey, announcer Sheila! You look pretty hot, come here for a second!” He shouted.
Koto jumped, pointing to herself. “Uh...?” She mumbled.
The man punched the ground impatiently, shouting. “I gotta question for you!”
Running over to the man, Koto composed herself, she put on a smile. “Um, what kind of question?” She asked, putting the microphone in front of him.
“Two of those fellas just died on accident.” The man said, while I sweat dropped. Sure.
Koto's eyes widened, scared. “Really?” She asked.
“How can they're team continue?-” He asked, but stopped as he burped in her face. I resisted the urge to face-palm myself, this guy was so going to be a joke in the ring, but at least we get an easy win, right? However, I still remember that I couldn't feel his Spirit Energy when he killed those two, so I narrowed my eyes a little at him in suspicion.
“Ew.” Koto mumbled, holding her nose as she said. “It doesn’t matter how many died, each team's only allowed one alternate fighter. Rokuyukai can fight with Rinku and one alternate, if they find one.” She explained.
“You sure about that?” The man asked, as serious as a drunk man could.
Koto stepped back, looking appalled. “I am a walking rule book, my entire life is this Tournament, of course I'm sure!” She shouted, glaring slightly.
The man grinned goofily, jumping up as he shouted. “Yeah!” Koto squealed, jumping back. “That means I can fight these last two boys myself, I think that's really ripper!” But hiccuped, making him fall back down again. He didn't move or say anything, making everyone believe that he passed out.
Koto walked over cautiously, thinking the same thing. But as she got closer to him, he suddenly grabbed her, rubbing his face against hers, shouting. “Thanks for everything, Sheila!” Letting her go, he walked away, towards the middle of the ring, stumbling slightly as he did, but managed to keep himself up unlike the other times before.
“Prick.” Koto mumbled, holding her nose as she glared after the man.
Kuwabara gave a suspicious look at the man, before looking over his shoulder at us. “His Spirit Power is a lot less than Zeru's, but for some reason I got a creepy feeling. Watch out you guys.” He warned.
“What could you be worried about?” Botan asked, walking over to him. “He's the alternate fighter, and secondly he's a lush.”
“I wouldn't be too sure,” I said, narrowing my eyes at the man.
“Come on you socks! I wanna get a good brawlin' before my fun wears off!” The man shouted at us, an impatient look on his face, but after a second he smirked cockily. “In that case, they should all fight me at once.” He said laughing, but stopped as he sneezed.
Kuwabara looked back at us, raising an eyebrow. “So whose gonna take him? It hasn't been very long since all four of us fought our matches. Guess we should draw straws or something?” He asked.
“Hurry up!” The man shouted annoyed.
Koto put her microphone up to her lips, commentating. “Chu seems extremely impatient.”
The man, now named Chu, turned around narrowing his eyes at her, making Koto jump. “What did you say?” He asked, the way he said it sounded a bit threatening.
“I only say it as I see it.” Koto said nervously, shrinking back.
“Don't go on confusing me with big words, now go and get me a fighter.” Chu demanded, pointing over to us as he somewhat glared at Koto.
Koto nodded. “Right.” Running over to us, she announced. “Urameshi Team, please select your combatants.”
“Well, we still have that Masked Fighter guy.” Kuwabara said, looking at the smaller guy. “Come on man, it's your turn.” We all looked at him, but the Masked Fighter closed his exposed eye, ignoring Kuwabara completely.
“If you can't give me someone I'll have to disqualify.” Koto said.
Kuwabara's eyes widened at that, along with me, and he quickly said. “No, no, hold on a second.” Looking back at us, he stated. “It looks like I'm going to take control of this fight, unless I can get Urameshi to wake up!” He shouted, pointed to Yusuke, or where Yusuke was suppose to be I mean. We all turned, seeing Yusuke not in his spot against the wall.
“Where the hell is he?” I asked, blinking in surprise.
However, no-one answered, and we heard the sound of someone jumping, making us look back at the ring. We did just in time, seeing Yusuke landing in the ring, now finally awake. I let out a sigh of relief, we weren't going to get disqualified. And since Yusuke is going to be fighting, then we have nothing to worry about, seeing as he is the Spirit Detective. But a nagging voice in the back of my head kept saying that this Chu guy wasn't going to be easy, and thinking that made me feel very uneasy. But when I saw the smirk on Yusuke's face, I wasn't sure if I should be relieved or worried, it's not wise to underestimate an opponent when you've never seen them fight before.
“Well that's unexpected.” Kuwabara mumbled, looking at Yusuke in shock.
“Indeed.” Botan nodded.
The smirk dropped from Yusuke's lips, boredom taking over. “Waking up to the smell of alcohol, can't help but feel a touch of home.” He said, making me face-palm myself, after all the explosions, the smell wakes him. But I stopped when Yusuke began to shout. “Hey all you stupid demons, I've been trying to sleep through your 'clever' trash talk long enough! Now I'm ready to kick some asses!”
I shook my head, smiling slightly, and decided to help. “You tell them Yusuke! These youkai don't know who they're messing with!” I shouted
Botan got a worried look on her face as she approached the ring.”Are you certain you're ready to fight? You've been sleeping for almost a day now.” She said, her tone matching her expression greatly.
Yusuke stretched, the cocky smirk beginning to take over again as he said. “Ah, give me a break, that's why I'm taking this jerk. I always get some light exercise in the morning.” He said, letting his arms down by his side again.
“But it's the afternoon.” I pointed out.
“Details, details.” Yusuke said, waving what I said off literally, walking towards the middle of the ring.
We all watched as Yusuke approached Chu, whose expression couldn't be identified. It looked bored at first, just like Yusuke's, but as I kept staring at him it started to look a bit annoyed. I wasn't sure if I was right, but I tensed up, not liking the look that Chu was getting on his face. That voice was starting to grow louder in my head, and it was really starting to get annoying. I stared intently, wanting this fight to be over, I want to go back to the Hotel so I can get these wounds treated and have us be safe for one more day before we have to fight again.
My thoughts were interrupted when the crowd of youkai began to chant. “Kill Yusuke, kill Yusuke!” Repeatedly.
“Man, Yusuke is sure popular here, isn't he?” I asked sarcastically, glaring at the crowd of youkai that surrounded us. I don't like when my friends are threatened, it really pissed me off. I'm sure no-one would actually care if I 'accidentally' killed a few youkai...
Hiei turned to me, raising an eyebrow. “But can you really be surprised?” When he saw my expression, he sighed an continued. “Yusuke has become something of a boogy-man to the Apparitions.” He explained, sweat dropping.
Kuwabara stared at him confused. “But I've been helping Urameshi beat their bad guy role models, why aren't they screaming 'kill me'?” He asked, while I stared at him with a 'are you serious' look.
“Perhaps because you lost.” Botan suggested, and I laughed.
Kuwabara frowned at that. “Hey, now they didn't know that before the fight.” He said in his defense, pouting slightly.
With one more laugh from me, we all turned back to the ring. Chu and Yusuke were staring off, like everyone does in this god damned fight. However, they weren't glaring like the other ones. Chu was smirking, while Yusuke continued to look bored as hell. Even though there were no glares, I still felt the tension in the air, I'm not sure but I think that's just me. Man I worry too much for my won good, I swear I'm going to get gray hairs before I'm suppose to, even though we youkai don't really change that much when we get older.
“Stay here for a bit, I forgot something.” Chu said, breaking the silence that fell over the area. Disappearing faster than any of us could expect, making our eyes widen slightly, ah shit. A second later, Chu reappeared, holding Koto's microphone in his hand. Sorry Sheila, gotta borrow.” He said into the microphone, letting it echo.
“Ew, please don't call me that.” Koto said, glaring at him.
“Oh, Ok.” Chu nodded. “I just want to set the record straight before we get this thing going.” Pointing at Yusuke, who rose an eyebrow, Chu got to the point. “Right, basically I'm a really nice person and the only thing I suck at is Paper Rock Scissors!” He shouted, making me stare at him with my mouth open in shock.
I face-palmed myself for the second time today, and groaned out. “What a dumb ass.” And I could tell the others were thinking the same thing, they're expression like mine, but not so exaggerated.
Sighing, Koto grabbed her microphone from Chu. “Uh, let me try to translate for the drunker her. Earlier this morning the Rokuyukai Team decided on their roster through Paper Rock Scissors. Chu lost pathetically and became the alternate, but he wants you to forget all of hat because he's number 1!” She said smiling.
Chu punched his fist in the air, smiling. “Yeah!”
“No need to thank me, that's why I'm here.” Koto said with a smile of her own, bowing.
Kuwabara blinked, not sure what to make of this. “Wow, she's really a perceptive person, isn't she?” He asked, a bit shocked, seeing as how we didn't follow any of that without her help.
“Oh no,” Rink said, smiling nervously. “Chu is gonna start acting dopey again, I can just feel it.”
I stared at Rinku, Chu can get dopier? That I have to see, I mean this guy is about to jump on a table and start dancing and singing, I don't think he can get any dopier than he is now. But I snapped out of it when Chu began to talk again. “I'm strong ok, do you get what I'm trying to yap to ya?” He asked.
“Yeah, stupid, I understand, it's not difficult ya know.” Yusuke said, taking off his red sweat shirt. “You were scared to fight me before, and now your blaming it on some dumb game.”
Chu stared at him shocked. “No that's not right! Didn't you hear what the foxy was sayin?!” He shouted.
“Paper Rock Scissors.” Yusuke said in a 'ooh' tone, waving his arms like a ghost.
I sighed, shaking my head, this fight was going to take forever to start. I'm not even sure it's going to start in a few minutes. Thinking that, I let out a sigh, and crossed my arms. Not even caring for the blood that was getting on my skin, I was practically soaked in it from my fight, so what did it matter now. Watching the two in the ring with a bored expression, I waited impatiently for something entertaining to happen.
“Come on this substitute fighter is a pathetic drunk!” A random youkai shouted from the crowd.
Holding in my laughter, I looked at Chu for a reaction. At first he didn't do anything, making it seem like he didn't even hear it, but that quickly changed. Chu's expression turned to pissed in a matter of seconds, and he turned around, looking for who ever said that. Running off the ring, as if he saw the person, he jumped on the grass and raced towards the crowd, shouting. “Who said that?! Ratbag I got you!”
Jumping into the crowd, Chu grabbed the first youkai he could see. It was regular looking youkai, which had green skin and gross yellow eyes. Chu grabbed the green youkai, strangling the poor guy, who managed to choke out. “No, it wasn't me!” Although, Chu didn't seem to hear him at all.
“So the substitute is a pathetic drunk huh?” Chu asked with a glare. “Take that back, I'm not a substitute!” He shouted, and that's when I went into a fit of laughter, making the others sweat drop. “I meant to do Paper but my hand got stuck on Scissors, damn thing could happen to any bloke.” Smiling Chu looked at the youkai, as if he didn't remember he was strangling him. “Right, now you got it all figured out, don't you?” He asked.
Controlling myself enough, I watched as the youkai nodded, it's fear stricken face never leaving Chu's for a second. Satisfied with the way everything turned out, Chu let the youkai go. Turning around he grabbed a random bottle of beer from a youkai, not even listening as he shouted that it was his drink, and from the way he was speaking, he was drunk as well. Jumping back onto the grass and walked towards the ring which held our ningen friend, who looked really confused, like most of the people here. Can't blame him though, I've never seen an opponent act like this. I really hope we can be friends if he doesn't give me a reason to want to hurt him.
“Come on, at least let me stretch my muscles.” Yusuke whined, rubbing the back of his head.
Glaring at Yusuke, Chu asked with a bit of a growl in his tone. “Now this is plenty great, you don't think I can fight either don't you? Well let me tell you something mate, I'm the master of Drunk Fighting.” Taking a gulp of the beer he stole, he threw the bottle away, and climbed back into the ring. “The Sui Ken Technique, I think it's called, but you'll be too distracted by my regular moves.” Stumbling, he mumbled. “Crap as craps, it's bright out here!”
“Listen to this joker, he's insane.” Botan said with wide eyes.
I nodded with a smile on my face, already liking this guy. “That's what makes this guy so awesome!” I said.
Putting his hand to his chin in thought, Kuwabara said. “Well I know from school seminars drunk driving kills people, maybe drunk fighting is kinda the same thing.” I stared at him, wondering what the hell school was.
“School?” I asked, cocking my head to the side.
Kuwabara turned to me. “It's where us humans go to get smarter and get jobs to help us get by in life.” He answered, while I nodded slightly, not really getting it though.
“...Is it fun?” I asked after a second.
“No.”
Staring at him with wide eyes, I couldn’t help but feel sorry for him. “Kuwabara, I am so sorry.” I said, patting his arm sympathetically, making him sweat drop, as well as the others.
But I stopped when I saw Rinku hide his face. “This is embarrassing.” He mumbled.
Let out a confused look, I turned back to the ring, seeing Yusuke smirk. “Yeah, wobbly, give me a break, so the tipsy fighting think might be weird, but I've heard of it before. You better have something else that's a real challenge.” He said cockily, seeing Chu now becoming serious. “I didn't come all this way to babysit a drunk.”
Chu smirked as well. “Then wait a minute, you get a challenge once I hit my groove.” He began to stumble around, but something about his movements wasn't right. “Of course I got to stumble into it first, you're really going to enjoy this.” He said, laughing in a very creepy way.
My eyes widened and fear went to my heart. “Oh no, this isn't good.” I mumbled.
“Watch his movements.” Kurama said, his eyes narrowing on Chu's form as he continued to move around the ring, steadily becoming less and less unsteady.
“I know, he's beginning.” Hiei said, doing the same.
I watched as Yusuke smirked, especially when Chu stopped moving around. His body began to glow red, his Spirit Energy rising. I swallowed thickly, his Spirit Energy was strong, way stronger than Zeru's form what I can feel. Looking at Yusuke with a worried look, I brought my hands towards my chest, not liking the feeling that was coming from this guy and this fight. Fear continued to fill me, especially when Hiei and Kurama were becoming so serious about it, that's never good. They usually don't get serious unless there is a reason too, and I guess this makes that list.
*Be careful Yusuke.* I thought.
Ending it here and I know it took forever for me to update it, and I'm sorry for that! I really hope you liked this, and I can't wait until I finish the last edited chapter, I really want to make new chapters because the Tournament get so fun! All right, bye!
