~Story Start~


We all watched as Yusuke jumped into the air, holding his right arm out towards the ningens below. His pointer finger and thumb turned into the gun gesture that brought back very painful memories. Blue Spirit Energy began to form on his index finger, it starting out small at first. However, as he pushed more of his Spirit Energy into it, the small ball of blue Energy expanded. From the power it was giving off, I could tell with one hit, those ningens would be dead on impact. I bit my lip, silence washing over us all as we waited for the bullet to go off. I felt bad for the ningens, but would it be better to end their suffering if there was no other way? At times like these, those thoughts were what kept me from jumping into the ring and telling Yusuke to stop.


“It's been real fun, but I'll see you in hell! Remind me to apologize to you then!” Yusuke said, eyes narrowing in concentration and anger.


The sounds of rapid footsteps made us look back down a the ring, seeing the Masked Fighter running towards Yusuke. Jumping into the air, she appeared next to him, holding his right arm. “Wait, it's all right.” She said calmly, while Yusuke stared at her with wide eyes. Pulling Yusuke down with her, they both landed on their knees, and she turned to him once again. “Let me take over from here.” With that said she stood in front of the fifteen year old, getting into a fighting stance.


“Heads up, the mysterious fighter's mask is back on her face and she stopped Yusuke's new attempt to fire his Spirit Gun. She's squaring up, could she just want some action for herself?” Koto announced, breaking the silence that fell.


We all stood in silence watching as the Masked Fighter stood in front of Yusuke, her eyes never leaving the ningens. Silence fell around the area once again, and I was becoming very anxious by the whole thing, I hate dramatic pauses in things like these! I'm mean sure this is a really serious moment, but do they really need to lay it on so thick?! Letting out a small sigh, I shook those annoyed thoughts from my head and kept my gaze on the ring. Or, I would have if I didn't hear Kuwabara's grunt from behind me. Turning around with a surprised look on my face, I saw Botan and Kuwabara there. ...What the hell?!


“Take it easy.” Botan said gently, looking down at the wounded red head.


“Don't let them...” Kuwabara tried to say, but he was cut off by another grunt of pain as he tried to move.


Botan held his arm in her hands, locking eyes with him seriously. “They're going to do whatever they can, Kuwabara.” She said, her tone becoming motherly.


“The doctor...don't let him leave!” Kuwabara choked out.


At the mention of the doctor, Botan's cotton candy pink eyes narrowed. “Don't worry, I'll stop him myself if I have to.” She said firmly, turning to towards the doctor as she clenched her fist together tightly.


I looked at the two of them with a surprised face before turning back to the doctor. What the hell is going on here?! Noticing my confused face, Hiei rose an eyebrow at me. “What are you looking at, Onna?” He asked, annoyance in his tone. But when has it never been there?


“Weren't we standing by the doctor in the last chapter?” I asked, utterly disoriented. “Why are we over here again?”


Hiei stared at me strangely. “What are you talking about?” He asked after a long silence.


“I swear we were over there! He was punching in numbers in his calculator and you said something about percentages being for poker and.... I remember being over there, why don’t you?!” I shouted desperately, what the hell just happened?!


“Just shut up.” Hiei sighed with a sweat drop.


I opened my mouth to retort, but that laugh that could grate your ears until they bled came back. Eyes instantly went to Ichigaki once again, narrowing on contact. The insane look that was always on his face was deeper this time, his eyes almost shrinking to the size of peas as the laugh became louder. I resisted the urge to cover my ears as his laugh was almost like a screech. But I had to be serious about this, although that wasn't my strong suit. Ichigaki was trying to get our friend so that he could experiment on him, and probably make him into the ningens that were pretty much staring death in the face. Just the thought of Yusuke being turned into one of them made me glare harder at the troll on the other side of the ring, but something told me that this guy would be dead before the day could even think of ending. Good, he deserves to die, and I hope it's painful.


“Neither of you have the stomach!” Ichigaki shouted, pointing a disgustingly long fingernail at Yusuke and the Masked Fighter. “You can't kill these ningens, you'd know it be wrong, the only choice is to accept your defeat!” He laughed insanely once again, throwing his misshapen head back.


The Masked Fighter didn't take Ichigaki's words to account, not even looking at him as she placed her hands together into a sign, chanting. “Meiin metsuju ressai kohaku! Kyo chojin komei eikyaku!”


Koto took a step forward, raising the microphone to her lips. “The Masked Fighter is chanting something now, lets hope it's a final prayer for the men she's about to kill!” She announced, eyes fixated on the shorter woman, hoping to see the blood that we all didn't really want to see, seeing as how those boys didn't deserve any of what was coming.


Opening her one revealed eye, the Masked Fighter looked at the boys before her, shouting as light blue Spirit Energy formed around her hands. A flash of light appeared, making all of us wince slightly, but we kept looking. Our eyes widening as we saw and felt her Spirit Energy rise, it shooting in the air in the shape similar to a tornado. Green Energy swirling around the blue cone shape that miles above our heads. My mouth dropped open as I took a slight step back, trying to see the whole thing, but I had to cover my eyes slightly to do so. Geez, how the hell does someone that small have os much Spirit Energy?! I doubt even Hiei has that much Spirit Energy, and the Dragon of the Darkness Flame uses a lot of it too!


“Damn, and here I was thinking I was impressive!” Yusuke suddenly shouted, making me look at him. He was stepping back slightly, eyes slightly wide at the Masked Fighter.


“It's a hoax, don’t' let it frighten you!” Ichigaki shouted loudly and madly, eyes shirking again as he pointed at the Masked Fighter. “I've seen this fighter's strength, she doesn't have the power to create an attack that big! It's just for intimidation, attack her!” He commanded.


The Virucchi on the ningens backs pulsed, sending more of them into their blood stream. Their eyes flashed a red color, and the emotion drained from their eyes once again. Raising their hands, their weapons appeared, and they got into fighting stances. Kicking off into a run, the ningens ran at the Masked Fighter, the intent to kill visible once again in their cold faces. Battle cries fell from their lips as their feet slammed on the ground, getting closer to the shorter fighter.


“While the Masked Fighter's hands are tied up, the Dr. Ichigaki Team is charging, it looks like another slaughter!” Koto announced, getting into it once again.


The Masked Fighter didn't open her one eye as she heard the three ningens jump into the air, their weapons raised over their heads. However, as she raised her hands above her head, she locked her gaze on their forms. “Ko!” Letting her hands fall in front and behind her, blue Spirit Energy followed, encasing her in a ball of Energy that expanded, hitting Yusuke away, making him stumble back. The other ningens, however, did not stumble back, now on top of the orb, arms and legs spread apart as they stared wide eyed. “Jo!” Jumping into the air, the Masked Fighter stuck her pointer and ring finger into the ningens hearts, making me wince every time she would pull them out of their bodies. “Sai!” She shouted, pulling out her hand from M1's heart.


To our surprise, the ningens eyes softened from their blank stares, the redness dimming back to their original colors. But the surprise only grew when we saw the Virucchi explode off their backs, purple liquid falling from the pink blobs, leaving holes in the ningens bodies. Our eyes followed the Masked Fighter as the orb dimmed and she landed back on the ground, the ningens doing the same, however not standing like she was. Their bodies slammed into the ground, their eyes closed, and their faces slightly peaceful.


“What the hell was that?!” Yusuke shouted angrily. “You wiped them out in one shot, all their Spirit Energies gone!”


Hearing that, Kuwabara's eyes shot open in horror, not being able to feel their Spirit Energy either. I looked at him with sympathy, he really wanted to save them. I wanted to tell him that they, in a sense, were saved because of that. They didn't have to watch themselves kill innocent people anymore, and that they weren't under the doctors control either. But, form the expression that washed over his face, I don’t' think he wanted to hear any of that. Poor Kuwabara...


“There's nothing left of them.” Hiei stated, his eyes slightly wide.


I swallowed thickly, looking at the ningens sadly. “I would be surprised if they were, after all that.” I mumbled, the sadness slipping into my tone.


Kurama nodded slightly. “Yes, an immense attack.” He mumbled in agreement.


Ichigaki's eyes widened in horror as he stepped back.“What the...?! My perfect inventions, how can you destroy scientific achievements with chanting?!” He shouted angrily, his hands on his head as he stared at the Virucchi that laid on the ground.


“Oh shut up!” I snapped, glaring at the troll, who ignored me.


'Hey, what did you do to those guys?” Yusuke asked, walking over to the Masked Fighter with narrowed eyes. “Why did you hold me back if you were just going to kill them?”


“I did what I had to, nothing more.” Was the Masked Fighter's reply.


“Wow! I have no idea what happened, but I definitely love it!” Koto shouted as she ran forward, stopping a few feet from the ningens that laid on their backs. “Let's see, there was a blast of light, some heart piercing, exploding Virucchi, and now just one thing to do!” Raising her hand, she let it down as she counted. “1!...2!...3!...4!...5!...6!...7!...8!...9...10! And the Urameshi Team wins the match!” The youkai in the stands shouted out in protests, threats and boos, which we took no notice of. “Hate them all you want, but you better buy some water for those throats because you'll be screaming for while if they keep getting victories like that!” She announced with a smile.


“Oh shut up, Fox Girl!' Yusuke snapped with a glare, making Koto squeal fearfully. “That was no victory!”


“No!” Kuwabara shouted, trying to sit up, but only fell back with a grunt. “It's all a sham! We're suppose to be the good guys, we should have saved them!” He shouted, his voice cracking as if he was close to tears.


“Stupid doc pushing this on us! Stupid Dark Tournament!” Yusuke snapped angrily to himself, before he walked towards the edge of the ring. His piercing glare fell on Ichigaki and he pointed at him. “Hey, asshole! You know you're not walking away from this, don’t you!?” He asked, getting ready to jump there and punch the troll's head off.


Ichigaki began to back up, but he stopped when he felt three presences behind him. Turning around slowly and fearfully, he saw Hiei, Kurama and I already there to block his escape. Our eyes were narrowed into dangerous glares. There was no fucking way this guy was going to run away. He let three innocent ningens get killed, and all he cared about what his fucking inventions. My body was stiff with anger, and I could tell the boys next to me were the same.


“Don't embarrass yourself.” Hiei glared heatedly.


“Acknowledge your cruelty and your punishment will be swift.” Kurama added, his eyes and tone cold.


I felt the Spirit Energy start to gather in my hands, my glare locked on the troll's beady ones. “Screw being swift, lets make the bastard beg for death.” I growled, anger coursing through my veins.


“Hold on!” Ichigaki said, taking a step away from all of us. “What if I told you their master, Metamura, was still alive? But I am the only person in the world who knows where he's hidden and how to reverse his disease!” He cried with a triumphant smirk on his lips, but I just rolled my eyes at him. Oh no, what ever shall we do? Pff.


“Sorry, moot point.” Kurama said, point his thumb over his shoulder.


I narrowed my eyes in confusion, looking over to where he was pointing. The frail man was now conscious again, and was walking -or stumbling- as he held his hand against the wall to keep his balance. I looked at Hiei confused, and he was already staring at me blankly. “Where was Metamura? I don't remember putting him anywhere.” I said, my tone matching my expression.


“Onna, what do you think my answer will be?” Hiei rose an eyebrow.


I blinked before I looked up in thought. If I were Hiei and I was asked that question, what would I say? “Uh...shut up?” I asked, cocking my head to the side.


“Good, you're learning.” Hiei smirked.


I glared at him, an irk mark pulsing on my temple. “You are such an ass.” I mumbled, annoyed.


“You evil man!”


Hiei and I suddenly heard that anger filled voice, making us stop. We both looked at Metamura, seeing him glaring hatefully at Ichigaki. I glanced at the troll, seeing his eyes widen at the sight of the man who he was slowly killing. He stepped back even more, now fully understanding what was going to happen to him now. I got into a stance just encase he decided to run away, although he wouldn't get too far with those stubby little legs of his. Ha!


“What?!” Ichigaki asked. “But how did he get here?!”


“You're assistant was in the mood to talk.” Hiei said, his piercing gaze on the troll again. “At first he insisted that he didn't remember, but his memory improved very quickly. We only had to walk two miles to find him. After seeing Metamura's symptoms, Kurama was easily able to make an antidote.” He explained.


I took a step forward. “We have no reason to keep you alive any longer, troll.” I spat, smirking slightly.


Jade-hued eyes narrowed dangerously on the troll doctor. “I acquired a few poisonous herbs as well on this island, care to try one doctor?” Kurama asked coldly, watching as Ichigaki backed up even more.


“No need for that Kurama,” Yusuke said, turning his head to Ichigaki. “You ready to die?!” He growled.


“Hehehe,” Ichigaki suddenly laughed, a sadistic smile forming on his once frightened face, and that did not sit very well with me. “Your pathetic little minds, did you really think I would experiment with body manipulation and not save one for myself?!” He asked gleefully, holding out a needle filled with purple liquid, injecting it into his hand without hesitation. “Just another brilliant development from the incredible mind of Dr. Ichiga-.” He started to say, a dark green mist forming around him, making his voice sound indecipherable.


Our eyes widened as we took a step back, seeing Ichigaki's body turn dark green, it expanding, his clothes ripping from the sudden tightness. He grew ten feet taller and wider than he had been before, fangs protruding out of his mouth, his hair turning blue instead of the beige-gray color it had been previously. His eye were the same color, but like the rest of his body, huge. Despite myself, I couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief when I saw that he still had pants on, which was the only article of clothing still on his freakishly new body. I did not want to see what he had under...OH DEAR GOD bad mental pictures! Shaking my head desperately to get the picture out of my head, I glared harder at the new -and unimproved- Dr. Ichigaki. There was one thing that didn't change though, it was that fucking laugh that he always did. Does he ever stop laughing?! I mean come on!


“It's a Dr. Ichigaki metamorphosis, now he's some kind of giant green killer monster with incredibly sharp fingernails!” Koto announced excitedly.


Ichigaki stopped his laughter, and looked at Hiei, Kurama and I with a sadistic smirk on his lips, making us get into fighting stances. “Did you mindless, puny creatures actually think you could stop the progress of science?!” He turned back to Yusuke, smirking wider. “Let me show you my modifications!” He shouted, extending his right arms down at him, his hand crashing into the ring's cement ground as he lept away.


“Amazing! Ichigaki is stretching out his arm like its warm puddy!” Koto announced once again.


Ichigaki watched as Yusuke landed back onto the ground, a few feet away, but still smirked. Looking down at Hiei, Kurama and I, he let his left arm stretch towards us, making the three of us jump into the ring with Yusuke. Getting up from our knees, we turned around, glaring at Ichigaki as he laughed again. If only we could have killed him before he got out that fucking tube of whatever the fuck it was. Then we wouldn't have to deal with this bullshit! I am really hating today so very much.


I didn't have time to complain, Ichigaki was having too much fun with his new found strength, and he looked like he was going to use it to it's full extent. Letting his laughter grow as he pulled his arms back to their regular length. He stepped onto the ring, barely even having to lift his foot to do so. We all took a step back, glaring in frustration at this man, that arm thing was going to be a bitch, I could already tell you that much. Ichigaki stopped in front of us, and he positioned himself to release his arms once again. He shot his left arm at us, and we all jumped away from it. Ichigaki looked in Yusuke's direction and crossed his arms, letting his right arm fly over his left one. I landed and watched as Yusuke did as well, not knowing of the arm heading straight towards him, until it was too late. When he turned around, he barely saw the hand coming as one of Ichigaki's long fingernails sliced his arm deeply, sending him across the ring.


“Yusuke!” Kurama and I shouted together, worry in our eyes.


Ichigaki heard our shouts, and since Kurama was the closest one, he shot his arm towards him, making Kurama jump away. Yusuke gritted his teeth as he sat up, clutching his arm as more blood fell from the wound. Hearing Yusuke's grunt, Ichigaki turned his full attention to him, and began forward. However, he seemed to have forgotten about Hiei and I, and we both jumped in front of Yusuke, blocking him from Ichigaki. Unlike Hiei, I didn't have any weapon, bu I would be damned if I didn't do anything to help, I wasn't hurt! ...Sorry Yusuke. Seeing us in front of Yusuke, Ichigaki stopped, but continued to laugh sadistically, like we weren't going to be much trouble.


“I wouldn’t be laughing for long you freak, I may not have my Katana with me, but I can still rip your head off!” I shouted through clenched teeth, my Spirit Energy beginning to crackle around my hands. Hiei said nothing, but when he got in a fighting stance, I knew he was going to be helping me. Well duh...


Yusuke got to his feet quickly, eyes narrowed. “Hiei, Kira, wait!” We both glanced at him over our shoulder. “I got dibs on this jerk.” He said, his voice filled with pain and anger.


Koto turned her attention to Yusuke's form, excitement in her eyes once again. “Yusuke's back up, despite the delicious out pouring of blood from his arm! And whats more, he's asking Hiei and Kira to withdraw, does he really to take this beast on all by himself?!” She asked/announced with surprise, but the excited tone in her voice was still there.


Hiei looked at Yusuke for a second longer, smirking slightly before it quickly wiped off his face. “Just don't get killed.” He warned, getting out of his stance.


“What?!” I asked staring at Yusuke with a surprised look. “But I want to kill him, to-.”


“Come on, Onna.” Hiei said with a sigh, grabbing me by the waist.


My words froze in my throat at the sudden action, and before I could comprehend what had happened, Hiei suddenly moved, taking the both of us to the Masked Fighter who stood in front of the three ningens. Once I felt my feet hit the hard stone, Hiei's arm slipped away and he was now away from me, as if he was never next to me in the first place. A bright blush came to my cheeks, and my stomach felt funny, like something was flying in there. I quickly took the surprised look off of my face, and pretend that nothing had happened either, crossing my arms over my chest as I looked back into the ring. Not even noticing the two all knowing smirks on a certain cat and kitsune's lips from the grass behind us. I just mentally shouted at myself, hoping that my blush on my cheeks would go away before anyone noticed.


“Go ahead then, defy all logic!” Ichigaki suddenly shouted.


My eyes snapped back up to the ring, and I came back from my thoughts. Ichigaki let his arms stretch out towards Yusuke, both landing very close to Yusuke's sides. Thinking quickly, Yusuke grabbed a hold of them with his arms, making Ichigaki's eyes widen slightly at the action. I smirked, I love seeing bad guys losing, it always made me feel better. And now that it was Ichigaki, I felt a million times better than I felt all day. You know, I completely forgot what made me so upset today either, awesome! My smirk turned into a smile, and I began to cheer Yusuke on, pumping my fist into the air.


“What's this?” Ichigaki asked, eyes widening more.


Yusuke didn't answer him, he just held on tighter to his arms. Blue Spirit Energy formed around him and he let out a shout as he held tighter, stepping back until Ichigaki lifted into the air. Dropping his arms from Ichigaki's quickly, Yusuke ran forward to the green giant that was still in the air and jumped up, sending two sets of punches and kicks into Ichigaki's chest, sending him flying backwards. Ichigaki let out a cry of pain, and Yusuke glared at him, landing back on the ring in front of us. I smirked at the sound of that, good he deserves the pain, but he deserves a lot more. Come on Yusuke, blow a whole in the bastard's chest and let him bleed to death! ...Sorry.


“That was for the three innocent lives you stole!” Yusuke snapped, watching as Ichigaki landed on his feet, holding his chest tightly as he continued to shout. I smiled a bit sadly at the mention of them again, but it was nice to know they were being avenged. “And this is for screwing with their master” He shouted, jumping into the air, throwing a painful punch into the giants jaw.


“Nicely put.” Kurama said with a smile, holding the frail master up.


“And this is for my friend you felt sorry for them, and got his ass kicked into the ground!” Yusuke continued, throwing another punch into Ichigaki's jaw, making the giant stumble back, blood falling from his lips, his cheeks swelling up like a...'balloon'. I think.


“Thanks for the shout out.” Kuwabara mumbled, to which I laughed slightly at as Hiei and I moved towards the edge of the ring, away from the ningens motionless bodies. Who knows if Ichigaki could fall over here?


Yusuke pulled his fist back as he jumped back into the air. “And the last one's for me, just for pissing me off!” He shouted, his punch connecting under Ichigaki's chin, making the giant lift from the ground. However, Yusuke wasn't done with him. His fist glowed with immense Spirit Energy, and he sent one last power filled punch into the giant's chest, sending Ichigaki into the upper part of the crowd, a giant cloud of dust forming from where he landed. “Now you go think about what you've done, Dr. Ichigaki!” He shouted, landing back onto the ring.


“Wow..can I just say wow?” Koto asked, her eyes wide with surprise. “Ichigaki has been totally demolished by Yusuke's powerful assault, the crowd is speechless.” A smile lit her lips at that, aw the death.


“Finally, now that's what I call just deserts.” Botan said/mumbled, looking at Yusuke with wide eyes.


My smile grew wider and wider, feeling Ichigaki's Life Energy go out. Happiness and excitement welled up in me until I couldn’t hold it anymore. “Hell fucking yes, Ichigaki's finally dead! Take that you mother fucker, now burn in hell!” I shouted, pointing at the spot where Ichigaki had been.


Hiei rolling his eyes at me, but smirking slightly, even he was glad that Ichigaki was dead.


“It doesn't matter,” A weak voice suddenly said, making all of us look at the grass, it was Metamura. “Taking Dr. Ichigaki's life away is never going to bring them back.” His sad eyes looked at the ningens in the laid in the ring, motionless. “Yen, Ryo, Kai, it's all my fault, how can I ever forgive myself?” He asked, tears streaming down his face, letting his head hang as he sobbed softly.


The smile dropped from my lips, and watched Metamura with sad eyes. I felt guilty for being happy, the poor man's students were dead in front of hi, and we were all -even though quietly unlike me- were celebrating. I wanted to say something, but what could I say? Besides, nothing I could say would make a difference, those boys were dead and there wasn't anything that could bring them back. I hated that, so I just stood along with everyone else, watching the poor man as he broke down over his lost students. It seems like he has no one else left in this life for him, poor Metamura...


“Save your tears Metamura.” The Masked Fighter suddenly said, making all of us turn to her, seeing her standing at the edge of the ring. “Your boys are not dead.” She stated calmly.


My mouth dropped open, staring at her in shock as everyone else did the same. However, mine was for a different reason entirely. Why the hell didn't she say that a few seconds ago before I went all sad and depressed minded girl?! You know what everyone, forget that paragraph, apparently it doesn't matter anymore! Everything is good, there are fucking puppies and unicorns frolicking happily everywhere and the sun is shining down on us with rays of love god dammit! (*Grumbles angrily*)


“What?” Metamura asked softly.


Yusuke stared at her surprised. “Are you kidding?!” He almost shouted, turning around.


We all followed his gaze, and they lingered on the ningens, who at first laid motionless still. But as the seconds passed, their eyes slowly opened, making all of us stare in shock and confusion. Groans emitted from their lips as they slowly stood up, a dazed look in their eyes for a second. It was as if they didn't know where they were at first. However, realization dawned on them as they slowly stood up, seeing that they could move once again. Despite my aggravated mood about me acting all depressed and serious, I let a small smile on my lips, although still rather confused about how they were alive after all of that.


“I...I can move.” M3-Kai said, looking over his shoulder, seeing the blob gone from his back.


Yusuke stared at them with a surprised/confused/weirded out look falling over his face. “Now this is stupid weird.” He said, watching them all get to their feet once again.


I smirked slightly at that. “Good choice of words, Yusuke.” I said, my smirk widening.


“Shut up, Kira!” Yusuke said, throwing me a look.


M2-Ryo looked at the two younger boys beside him, surprise on his face. “Kai! Yen!” He said, confused about how he was still alive as well. Obviously knowing that taking the Virucchi off would ultimately kill them, like Kurama had said earlier.


“Hey!” Kuwabara suddenly shouted. “Fill me in, I can't see up there you know!”


Metamura stood shocked as he watched the boys who he thought was dead now living and breathing in front of him. At first, he wasn't sure if what he was seeing was really happening, but the more he stared at them, the more he believed it. Dropping his arm from Kurama's shoulder, he walked towards the ring, slowly but surely getting up on the ring, his shocked eyes never leaving his students for a second.


“We're really alive!” Kai said, smiling.


Ryo clenched his fists open and closed, and his eyes lit up as he looked at his friends. “And in completely control.” He said happily, Kai and Yen smiling back at him.


“But I don't understand.” Yusuke said, staring at the boys as well. “A few minutes ago their Spirit Energy was completely awol.” I nodded mutely, my smile gone as the confusion took a hold of me, how many things are going to happen today? I mean come on, this is just crazy!


“I never thought I'd see you!” Metamura suddenly said, walking towards his students.


All of them turned, gasping. “Master.” Kai said, his eyes wide.


Suddenly, Kai, Ryo and Yen turned their backs to Metamura, looking down. Their eyes were closed tightly, as if in shame. They trembled slightly, as if recalling horrible memories, which they probably were. They had watched their bodies kill so many people, it must be horrible to have to witness something like that, and have no control over yourself. Just watching as people died by 'your' hands against your will. If I had to go through something like that, I don't think I could ever forgive myself, even if it wasn't my fault.


“Wait.” Metamura stopped walking, staring at them confused. “Why do you turn?” He asked.


Kai trembled slightly, his eyes shut tightly. “We've committed horrible sins, Master. I can't even remember all the people that I have-.” He cut himself off, the word kill too hard to say.


“The lessons that you taught us didn't mean anything, we're a disgrace to your Dojo.” Ryo said as he kept his head bowed, his fist clenched at his sides as the anger and shame filled him. He was taught to never take a life, but now look what he has done to countless people.


Yen looked down, ashamed. “Please leave us Master, we can't bare to look at you now.” He said sadly.


“Dammit!” Kai suddenly shouted angrily. “Why couldn't she have just killed us?!”


Metamura's eyes narrowed angrily at his students's words, and he stepped forward. “How can you say such tings?!” He shouted, his students eyes snapped open, gasping in shock.


“You're master is right, your guilt is misplaced.” The Masked Fighter said stepping forward, eyes on her form as she looked at the boys. “The technique I used is called the Spirit Wave, it is one of the five greater tacks by trial, and is powered by your own Spirit Energy. If your souls are corrupt, then the wickedness will take your life. But if you are pure of heart, then that purity consumes you, destroying any outside impediments. It was your souls that destroyed the Virucchi and freed you, not me. That proves you have nothing to hide.” She explained, making the boys's eyes widen at the news.


Metamura took another step forward, putting a hand to his heart. “Yen, Ryo, Kai, she says what I've known all along. If there was anything you could have done to prevent those kills, you would have. Your bodies were taken over, but who you really are, your souls, are still clean. I see you in the same way now as I always have, as my three most noble students. Lets put this behind us!” He shouted desperately, tears in his eyes as he watched his students backs.


Kai, Yen and Ryo's bodies shook as tears streamed down their faces, and they turned, running towards the man they looked up to as a father. “Master!” They all cried together, rushing towards the frail man.


“We've missed you so much.” Yen cried, grabbing his master's hands, along with the others.


Kai looked at Metamura, hope in his eyes. “Master, is it true, are you really going to be ok again?” He asked, gripping his master's hand tighter in his own. The other looked on, waiting silently for this answer, worry in all of their eyes.


“Yes,” Metamura nodded. “I think so.”


Tears welled up in Metamura's eyes, as well as Yen, Kai, and Ryo's. Their shoulders trembled as they wrapped their arms around each other, crying tears of happiness. They had been so worried that he would die, or that he was already dead thanks to Ichigaki, but they were so relieved that he would be with them once again. Despite how hard I had tried through the whole thing, tears slipped down my cheeks as well. Damn me and my sensitivity, I wiped away the tears with the back of my hand, and out of my peripheral vision, I saw Yusuke wipe away a tear that almost fell down his cheek.


“Aw, Yusuke,” I sniffed, looking at him as more tears fell again. “This is the first time I've ever seen you cry, that's adorable.” I cooed teasingly, but a smile was on my lips.


Yusuke threw me a look, composing himself a bit. “Like you should talk, you're balling your eyes out.” He said, while I only stuck my tongue out at him playfully. He is so lucky that I'm in a good mood, or I would have shown him what for. However, the serious/ happy mood came back, and Yusuke turned to the Masked Fighter. “Well mystery lady, that was some attack.” He complimented...sort of.


“You've done us well, Fighter.” Kurama said with a nod, smiling at the four in front of us.


“They're all ok,” Kuwabara spoke up, his voice of mixture of pain and happiness. “I think letting them beat the snot out of me is the best thing I've ever done.” He tried to laugh happily, but that only made him grunt in pain again, closing his eyes tightly.


“And so in a dramatic explosion of emotion fit to make any youkai retch, the Urameshi Team is set to advance.“ Koto announced, watching as we all jumped onto the grass, leaving the ring.


“So hows he doing?” Yusuke asked as we drew closer to Botan and Kuwabara.


Botan looked up at the young Spirit Detective, a frown on her lips. “Not too great, it's nothing life threatening, but he's clearly going to need time to recover.” She explained, and I frowned, now that can't be good.


Yusuke looked down at Kuwabara, mumbling. “Time, huh?”


“Yusuke!”


All of us heard Kai's voice shouted, and we all looked, seeing the brown haired young man run over to us. I rose an eyebrow, wondering why he wasn't with his mater and his friends. I wasn't trying to be mean or anything, it's just I thought after all of this was over that he wouldn't want to be anywhere near this nut house people call a Tournament. I call it a nut house because a lot of crazy shit has happened today, I'm about to go insane if anything else happens.


“Maybe I can be of some help, I'd like to repay you if it's possible. We're the ones who hurt Kuwabara, let me fight in his place, I'll join as your substitute.” Kai said, his eyes determined and serious, but also holding regret for what his body did.


“Well thanks for the offer, but this doofus would have a fit if I gave his spot away, you understand.” Yusuke said with a smile, but he continued when Kai was about to protest. “Plus, we're only allowed one substitute, and only after one our guys is dead.” He said, the smile still on his lips.


“Urameshi,” Kuwabara said through clenched teeth. “I'm not dead yet!”


“Well folks, it's official.” Botan said with a smile, but she let out a sigh when she, Kurama and I grabbed Kuwabara, getting him off the ground. “Well come on, let's get Lazarus off the grass.” She attempted to joke as we walked towards the door on the stadium wall.


Walking through the giant door and into the cold, metal hallway, a bad feeling began to well up in me. I wasn't sure why, but I ignored it for the moment. Finding our way to the little room aways off, we set Kuwabara down on the bed. He let out a grunt of pain, and I winced at the sight of his wounds. Those guys really did a number on him, I hope that he'll get better before our next match. I trust the Masked Fighter, especially after what she did today, but I still want him to feel better, those wounds don't look like they feel nice at all. However, my thoughts were interrupted when a little melody rang around the room and the stadium outside, making Botan, Kurama and I look up at the speaker.


“May I have your attention please,” A woman's voice asked, it dull and emotionless. “The Third Round of the Dark Tournament will begin immediately.” Kurama was the first one out of the door, while I waited to hear what was going on first. “Furthermore the Tournament Committee has unanimously decided to begin the round in accordance to the Match Diagram, starting from the left. Team Urameshi and Team Masho, please report to the ring.” The woman finished, and my eyes widened.


“Ah fuck!” I cursed sourly, and I ran out of the room as well. “Stupid fucking committee members, they couldn't have made it less obvious now could they?” I growled under my breath.


Rushing through the deserted hallway, I looked down at my feet, a glare in my eyes. This is really bad, none of these guys are fit to fight right now. Yusuke has a bad cut on his arm, Hiei's arm doesn't look any better than it did two days ago, the Masked Fighter probably lost a lot of Spirit Energy, and Kuwabara obviously can't fight right now. That's four people out of six down, this is really bad. I shook my head lightly, I couldn't think like that, I'm sure they can pull through this fine, well except Kuwabara I mean, I trust them. Feeling slightly better than I did just a few moments ago, I looked up.


And I felt a lot worse thanks to doing that.


I stopped dead in my tracks, my eyes locked on the figure in front of me, horror in my red irises. Kane stood before me, murky red eyes boring into mine coldly. If my heart could beat, I think it would have sky rocketed so much that I would have had a heart attack in a second. My whole body froze over, numbness filling my stiff limbs. Now I remember why I was feeling terrible today, it was because of him, because he was here, and in my life once again. I swallowed thickly, but now words formed as I continued to stare at him unblinkingly. I was afraid to, I didn't want him to somehow get closer to me than he already was.


A smirk lit his lips as he stared at me unfeelingly. “Well hello, little Akira.” He said, a chill running down my spine. His voice was just like it always had been, cold, but now it was more frightening than I remember.


Keeping the tears of fear down, I forced my eyes to narrow. “Wh-What are you doing, here, Kane?” I spoke up, barely audible, and I scolded myself for my blunder. “You're not allowed down here!” I spat slightly, trying to mask my fear with hatred, but he obviously saw through it, his smirk widening.


“Oh?” Kane asked, a dark chuckle falling from his pale lips. “Whats the matter little Akira, are you not happy to see your big brother?” His chill causing a chill to run up my spine.


“Bi-Big brother my ass, 'big brothers' don't kill their sister's parents in front of her wh-when she's only a c-child!” I tried to growl out hatefully, but his presence almost paralyzed me, making my words falter slightly. Dammit Kira, stop being so fucking scared, he won't hurt me right now. ...I hope anyway.


“You still haven't gotten over that, I see.” Kane said, his tone uncaring.


I swallowed thickly, glaring. “Yeah, I haven't, now if you don't mind, I have a match to get to.” I felt feeling coming back to my limbs, and I found myself walking towards him.


I wanted to stop and run the other way, every nerve in my body screaming at me to do just that, but I couldn't. I had to go, or my team could get disqualified for not having enough members. If that happened, than that mean that Toguro would kill them for my fucking fear for my bastard of an older brother, I couldn’t do that to them. Hiei, Kurama, Yusuke, Kuwabara, Botan, Keiko, Shizuru, everyone would die and all because I was a coward. They're the only things I have now, seeing as how the bastard in front of me already took my parents from me, I couldn’t lose them too. Thinking of it like that, I started to feel more confident than I had a few moments ago. So sucking up my fear, I kept going forward, my head held high as I gave off an air of confidence. Even if I still feared him, he wasn't going to make me lose the people I cared about. Not again.


“Oh, one thing Kane,” I stopped next to him, the confidence suddenly filling me, and it was probably the worst time for it to appear. “After this little conversation, get the fuck out of my life. Even if my team makes it to the final round, I won't fight you.” With that said, I started walking again.


I didn't get far though. I was suddenly slammed into the wall next to me, a familiar hand wrapped tightly around my throat, and murky red eyes stared into mine. No air filled my lungs, and fear wracked my body, all that confidence gone in an instant. His eyes were narrowed into a dangerous glare, that same glare he had on his face when he killed my father. Tears fell from my eyes, silently cursing myself over and over again, why the fuck did I have to get confident around him when he was in arms length of me?! However, my thoughts were cut off when his grip tightened, making me let out a breathless 'scream' of pain.


“I find it funny that you think you have a choice.” Kane spoke coldly, anger flashing in his eyes as they locked on mine, or tried to as I closed them, flinching at the pain in my throat.


“Le-Let...go!” I choked out, clawing at his hands, panic filling me.


Kane slammed me harder, making me wince in pain as my back connected against the metal wall, and my eyes snapped open once again. “I told you before, I didn't let you live because you are my sister, I couldn't give a shit about you back then, and those feelings haven't changed. When your team fights mine, you will fight me, or all your friends will die, even if your team wins the Tournament. Remember that, little Akira.” He spat my name, throwing me to the ground roughly.


I gasped for air loudly as the pressure was suddenly gone, my throat burning both inside and out. I shakily pushed myself into a sitting position, my body was shaking violently. I turned around, expecting to see Kane standing there again, but saw him no where in the hallway. It was as if he was never there, but the pain in my neck was all I needed to tell me that he had been. Scrambling to my feet, I ran towards the exit, I had to get out of that hallway. I couldn’t be alone, Kane was angry enough, I didn't need to have him change his mind and kill me because I couldn’t keep my mouth fucking shut. However, as I saw the door come into view, I hid the fear that was present on my face, wiping away the tears. And as I walked through the door way, I prayed that I had no bruises from Kane's attack. I didn't need anyone to worry, not now.


All heads turned towards my direction as they heart my feet tapping against the metal. All looked relieved, and I did as well, apparently I had no bruises. Yet. I jumped into the ring, walking towards the middle, standing next to them. All the youkai in the stands were shouting, apparently happy that the match was going to start, all we needed was Team Masho to show up. I grimaced at the thought of having a fight, especially after what happened with Kane. My body was still slightly shaking, but not enough to catch anyone’s attention. Thankfully.


Yusuke was the first to speak, waiting until I came to a full stop to speak. “Damn Kira, where have you been? I was worried that you decided to disappear again.” He was smirking, but I could he was annoyed.


“Sorry, I got distracted for a minute.” I said, forcing a smile.


Hiei narrowed his eyes at me. “You're lucky you made it just in time, we don't need to get disqualified because of you.” He said annoyed, apparently they were told if I didn't hurry up we would have to forfeit our match. Good thing I ran when I did, I guess.


I let out a sigh. “Shut up, Hiei.” Even if I have fun fighting with him, right now was different.


I let my eyes dull slightly, and I turned towards the other door way, waiting for Team Masho to appear. I needed something to get my mind off of Kane, even getting the shit beating out of me seemed better than thinking about him. Slowly the crowd began to get riled up, impatient at the lack of Team Masho's appearance. I was curious too, did they not want to fight or something?! Geez, someone get the fuck over here, I'm not in the mood for this bullshit right now! Sucking in a deep breath, I let it out, getting angry won't make me feel any better, I just have to calm myself down. Although, my body was still stiff and sightly shaking, fear still gripping me tightly. Just what I need before a fight.


“Team Masho, this is your final call! Enter or be disqualified!” Koto suddenly announced, making me jump.


Despite that, I sensed six Spirit Energies fill the area, and my eyes snapped back towards the door way. Wind suddenly picked up, it turn into a mini tornado, light green Energy glowing around and in the gust of wind, and my eyes narrowed. The wind disappeared, revealing six figures, all in black and gray cloaks, their faces covered by their hoods. Each had symbols on their hoods, each having different colors as well. I rose an eyebrow, well this was something I've never seen before. What was with the robes anyway?


Koto looked at the figures that stood on the grass, and she smiled. “And here they are people, appearing in the same mysterious fashion as always, Team Masho.” She announced happily, gesturing to them.


“Why do I get the feeling, this is gonna be a tough one?” Yusuke mumbled beside me.


I didn't say anything, and neither did anyone else. We all just stared at the figures with narrowed gazes, feeling their strong Spirit Energies. I swallowed thickly, I was not going to win my match, I could already tell you that.
