*~*~*The Next Day*~*~*~
The next day came without too many problems, abut it came way too early. Thanks to my god damned wrist yesterday, and it needing to be healed, I was probably up til 1 or 2 in the morning, and we had to get up early today to watch a match against the people would would be our new opponents. I wasn't completely happy about that, but I had no choice. But what also sucked ass was that when I woke up the next morning Kurama obviously noticed my wrist and my neck and demanded answers. So I did, and because I didn't want to have to explain it a second time, I wrote down a short -actually really long- note and left it for Yusuke and Kuwabara, who had been asleep at the time. ...Lucky bastards. But despite that, I got ready and Hiei, Kurama and I went to watch the match...unlike two ningens that shall remain nameless...
Letting out a bored yawn, I watched the fight below with my arms draped over the railing. I was standing -or somewhat laying- between Kurama and Hiei, both seeming equally as bored as I did. Nothing was really going on because the teams hadn't started fighting yet, and we were still waiting for Koto to call the match. But we weren't really interested in this match at all, every single match before Toguro's didn't mean anything, they were just the small bumps in the road that we had to get over to get to Toguro -and Kane-. Sure it would be beneficial for us to see what our next opponents were going to be, but we just didn't really care. And you couldn't really blame us, now could you? Especially when Toguro's Team could probably kill us very easily... Fun thoughts, just real fun thoughts.
I groaned for the hundredth time in the last five minutes. “Why the hell are they taking so long?”
“They're not, you're just impatient, Onna.” Hiei said bluntly, suppressing a smirk.
I shot him a look, straightening up my posture slightly as I got an irk mark, and Kurama noticed that right away. “Now you two, don't distract yourselves, we still have a match to watch, remember?” He asked, sweat dropping as he watched the two of us shoot dirty looks at each other.
“He asked for it, he was being a jerk, Kurama.” I mumbled, looking at him with an innocent look on my face, while Hiei stared at me blankly.
“And you were being annoying.” Hiei shot back easily.
I yawned boredly, already hearing that before, it was nothing new as you can already tell. You've read this story, obviously. “Still, you could have just told me in a nicer way, but no you just had to be a dic-.”
“Kira.” Kurama quickly warned, cutting me off abruptly. “Don't encourage him.” He said with a sigh.
“Well, he started it.” I pouted, crossing my arms over the railing again.
Hiei was not the least bit surprised by me. “Very mature, Onna.” He said sarcastically, with a roll of his eyes. Looking back down at the ring, he suppressed another smirk from appearing on his lips, apparently I amuse him. Great -__-*.
“Shut up, Hiei.” I said, sticking my tongue out at him.
“Good morning blood-lusters and blood-lusterettes,” We all heard Koto say into the microphone, and adverted our attention down to her. “The battle between Team Uraotogi and Team Gokai Six starts now!” She smiled happily, looking into the cheering crowd.
“Well finally!” I shouted annoyed, ignoring the look I got from Hiei.
And almost as fast as the match started, it ended in under two minutes. I'm not shitting you, I'm serious. As we watched we saw a blond haired man throw swift punches into one of the cat youkai, knocking him unconscious quickly. The next was a man that had dark skin and made his hand into a weird axe like blade, cutting a snake/salamander like youkai right down the middle in one swift movement. After him was a very old man who you would think wouldn’t be able to fight, but with one kick into a wolf youkai, the old man rendered him unconscious as well. That's all that it took for the whole round to be over, there was no stopping. Kurama and Hiei were staring down at the team blankly, while I was left standing at the railing with my mouth open and my eyes wide. ...What the fuck just happened?!
“That was amazing!” Koto stared at the team wide eyed. “If you blinked, you missed quite a match! In less than two minutes, Team Uraotogi crushed Team Gokai Six, shutting them out completely! That's gotta be embarrassing!” She said in awe.
I gulped slightly, breaking from my shocked staring. “No shit, man I wish our matches ended like that.” I said, looking at the men in the ring. How the hell did they get so strong?
The boys on each side of me said nothing, their emotionless -but steely- eyes never left the men either. I noticed the sudden quietness around us, and I looked at both. However, they both seemed to ignore me, but I couldn't blame them. Looking back at the ring, my eyes narrowed slightly as well at the members of Team Uraotogi. They were definitely strong and -like every other fight we fought in this damn Tournament- our fight with them was going to be difficult. I mean, they just killed a fucking team in under TWO minutes, I haven't seen that since...never. I have not seen any fighter -or team in this matter- ever do something like that before.
“Hehehe.”
I snapped out of my thoughts at the creepy, old laugh, resting my eyes on the old man from before. “Even though I think we're officially wrapped up here, how would you boys like a friendly chance to play with us just for kicks?” He asked the last remaining members of Gokai Six with a 'friendly' smile.
“Cocky old bastard, isn't he?” I mumbled with a sweat drop.
“Yes.” Hiei nodded slightly, a smirk beginning to form on his lips, and I sent him a blank look. Here we go... “We'll see how confident the old fool will be in our fight tomorrow.” He said, a certain evilness in his tone.
I smirked, my eyes on the ring again. “Careful Hiei, YOUR cockiness is showing.” I said a bit cheekily.
“Shut up, Baka.” Hiei said bluntly, his expression blank, like always.
I stuck my tongue out at him. “Nya.”
Hiei ignored that -despite how hard that actually was-, and we all focused back onto the fight getting serious once again. I had almost forgot about how the old man was practically trying to kill those two...weird looking youkai just for fun. Geez this Tournament is filled with really terrible people, I know we're youkai and we all love to fight, but come on we don't have to be stereotypical here! Looking at the old man with narrowed eyes, I couldn't help but shutter at the creepy -and evil- smile that was on his lips, his wrinkles becoming more prominent than before. I really don't have a good feeling about this guy, mostly because he freaks me the fuck out, and I really hope that I won't have to fight him or I will be pissed!
“Nah...I think we're good...thanks.” A strange youkai with a screw threw his head stammered nervously, breaking me from my thoughts, once again. Dammit me, pay attention!
The wolf youkai with one eye nodded furiously. “Y-You guys probably want your rest, i-if your team wants to win the Semi-Finals at all.” He said, his words stumbling around as well. Not that I could really blame them, their friends did just die.
A scoff was heard, but this time it wasn't from Hiei, like it usually was. Everyone looked to see someone standing up, someone who looked ningen based on his appearance. The boy had violet-blue hair with long tresses tied in a loose ponytail and two large bangs sticking straight up from a widow's before before falling back down to frame his face, and he had purple eyes. The boy wore something similar to a samurai, wearing a white uwagi and a light blue zubon tied off with a red obi.
The boy smirked, looking at the two. “Semi-Finals? We are going to be the grand champions.” The smirk, however, dropped off of his face for a second before he pointed towards us, and I got a blank look. “'Til then, everyone else is just practice. Everyone else. Just wait for your turn.” He said looking at us, the smirk getting wider.
I glared. *Great, we're targeted once again. Hurray.* I thought sarcastically, watching as they all disappeared into the tunnel beneath the stadium. Good, fucking cocky bastards.
“What an arrogant fool.” Hiei stated bluntly, glancing at Kurama and I.
I only nodded.
“Well, well, well, look who it is.” Kuwabara's voice suddenly spoke from behind us, and we all turned, seeing Kuwabara, Yusuke, Botan and the Masked Fighter standing there, making me sweat drop. That's a bit creepy to say the least...
“Hello.” Kurama greeted shortly with a smile.
Kuwabara gave us a smirk, staring down at us all. Damn him for being so tall...“Guess you guys had the same idea we do 'bout scoping out the competition for the Semi-Finals.” He said with a chuckle in his voice.
“'Had' the same idea, the fight is over.” Kurama informed, staring up at the taller ningen.
Kuwabara's eyes widened as he turned towards the ring, his hands gripping the railing tightly. “What?!” He shouted, seeing the three unconscious and dead youkai on the ring below, and I did as well, not to see the bodies of course but I knew Koto had something to say about this.
“And so the first match of Semi-Finals will see Team Urameshi facing off against the unbeatable, beyond believable Team Uraotogi!” Koto's voice shouted over the crowd. See, told you.
Kuwabara's eyes never left their widened state, sweat trickling down his temple. “That is unbelievable, I mean I can't believe we missed the entire fight.” He said, his tone filled with shock, but there was also a bit of fear lacing in his words as well. Not that I could blame him though, but he would be a lot more scared if he saw what they did only a few seconds ago.
I glanced at Kuwabara. “What took you guys so long to get here anyway?” I asked, tilting my head.
Kuwabara didn't look at me, eyes still on the ring. “I took a couple extra minutes to brush my teeth.” He answered, and I resisted the urge to face-palm myself. Only Kuwabara could do something like that, mostly because I don't think it takes ten minutes to brush your teeth, but what do I know? (*Eyeroll*)
“Uh...huh.” I mumbled, a blank look on my face. “Well you missed a pretty interesting fight.”
Kurama nodded, his jade-hued eyes narrowing down at the ring as they took away the bodies, probably to get ready for the next fight. “It was an impressive sight to behold.” He said in agreement.
“Though I'm sure your minty fresh breath was well worth the delay-” Hiei started off sarcastically, but when he looked over his eyes found something blue sitting on Yusuke's head, making him stop.“What is that ridiculous appendage growing out of your head all about?” He asked, raising an eyebrow at the ningen teen.
Yusuke shot him a look before he looked away, hands on his hips. “It's just a puberty thing, ok?” He asked, his tone annoyed.
Blinking in confusion, I looked over at Yusuke to see the 'ridiculous appendage', as Hiei called it. But what I saw sitting on Yusuke's head was NOT ridiculous at all. I saw a small, beady-eyed, bird-like creature with an all blue body, white belly, a yellow beak and feet, and a small path of black hair on his head, pretty much mimicking Yusuke's hair. His ears were very big, almost making me miss his little paws next to them. As I stared at it, I could feel the boys staring at me with sweat drops going down their heads, but only Hiei moved away when he saw the huge smile form on my lips. The little penguin-thing was so cute!
“Aww!” I squealed loudly -despite my attempts not to-, making the boys who stayed next to me jump, while Hiei only smirked. I grabbed the bird from Yusuke's head, holding him in my arms as if he was a baby. “Well hello there, cutie! What's your name?” I asked with a giggle, shut up, he's cute!
The little bird flapped his small arms, smiling up at me with his eyes closed. “Puu!”
Seeing me about to squeal again, Yusuke slapped his hand over my mouth, giving me a look. “So Kurama, how's your wound treating you?” He asked genuinely concerned, giving me another look as he took his hand away, while I stuck my tongue out at him. ...Jerk.
Turning away from Yusuke, I looked at Kurama, petting Puu. “Oh yeah, that Death Plant didn't look too pleasant, were you able to get it out ok?” I asked, staring up at him worriedly.
“It will be fine, I'll be fighting again tomorrow.” Kurama said reassuringly, looking away from us.
Hiei, suddenly appearing next to Kurama and I once again, smirked up at the red haired kitsune. “Hm, seems it's not as bad as you made us think.” He said, ignoring my confused expression.
Kurama looked up, away from Hiei, and I could already tell that he had a comeback. “Compared with your Energy loss, no it seems it's not.” Kurama answered nonchalantly, while hiding a smirk. Why do I say that, you ask? Because I'm just that good :D.
I smirked at the fire youkai, but let it show unlike Kurama. “He's got you there, Hiei.” I said laughing, Puu chirping in with me as he flapped his arms. Aww! ^0^
Hiei only glared at me with an irk mark, making me stop laughing, and I sweat dropped as I let out a nervous laugh. However, I couldn't help but keep smiling despite the glare being directed at me, I was glad that things were going back to normal. Even if the 'fight' didn't last that long, I did kind of miss having our little battles, but at least me breaking my wrist fixed that. Although I wish that it didn't have to end IN me breaking my wrist, but what can I do now?
“Hey, I got a idea you guys!” Kuwabara got a big smile on his face, breaking us from out moment, and we turned to him -except Hiei-. “Ask Yukina to use her healing power!” I noticed that Hiei tensed up at the sound of her name, and I frowned. “She's amazing, as soon as she touches you, you'll feel better than you ever have before, she's pretty too.” He said with a goofy smile now on his lips.
I looked at Hiei, seeing the look on his face before turning to the red haired ningen. “Uh Kuwabara...”
Kuwabara didn't hear me though. “She's actually partially here to look for her long lost, estranged brother. I'm gonna help her look for him just as soon as we win this Tournament!” He said, clenching his fist in determination.
“Yukina's brother?” Kurama leaned toward Hiei, a 'sweet' smile on his lips. “Yes, sounds like a nobel cause, we should assist her too, Hiei.” He said, his tone could actually be called innocent, but not now...
Not about to give up a chance to tease Hiei, Yusuke gave the fire youkai a thumbs up, a big grin on his face. “Yeah, you could even lend her an eye!” He said, ignoring the look that I gave him. Sure I was all for teasing Hiei about stuff, but this was KIND OF a sensitive subject. ...Jerks. Sorry Kurama.
Hiei shook in almost uncontrolled anger. “Will you shut up?!” He growled/snapped through clenched teeth.
“Wait...uh,” Kuwabara looked at the three, confusion evident in his tone and on his face. “What's going on here? Am I missing something?” He asked, looking between Kurama and Yusuke as they started to laugh slightly, and he grew even more confused.
“It's nothing Kuwabara, just drop it.” I said, hoping he would.
The ningen looked at me confused. “But-”
I only shot the ningen a glare, an irk mark on my temple. Take a fucking hint man!
Kuwabara rolled his eyes, taking my look the wrong way and looked back at Kurama and Yusuke. Well I tried Hiei, I tried... “What aren't you guys telling me? What do you keep laughing about anyway?” He asked, raising an eyebrow at the two again.
“Just what Hiei said about the ridiculous thing that was on my head, right?” Yusuke said controlling his laughter a little bit, as he leaned next to Hiei, who was trying to block out his voice.
Kuwabara got a suspicious look on his face. “I heard him say that, it wasn't that funny.” He said annoyed.
Yusuke stood up straighter, laughing loudly and openly now, while I sweat dropped. He was actually really lucky that Hiei wasn't at his throat right now, Hiei must think he's a friend or he just has amazing self-control. Looking away from him, I positioned Puu in a more comfortable place against my chest. He felt just like a pillow =3. However, my little moment with the little blue ball of cuteness was shortened when I heard Yusuke cut off his laughter abruptly, making me look at him. He was looking to the left, seeing the Masked Fighter glancing at him with a blank gaze. Seeing the narrowed look come into Yusuke's eyes, I couldn't help but frown, well here we go...
“Hello, what's your problem?” Yusuke asked annoyed, eyes going into a glare.
I was about to tell him to calm down, but my body stiffened when I felt a familiar Spirit Energy spike in front of us. Turning towards the Spirit Energy, my eyes widened for a second before they narrowed into a dangerous glare. In front of us were Toguro, Elder Toguro, Kane, the black haired man from before, and a new man covered in somewhat bright armor, but not to mention freakishly tall. They were opposite us, standing just before the doorway with their smirks plastered on their faces -the black haired one and the armored man I could only guess-. Making sure not to squish Puu, I glared at Kane heatedly, my eyes never leaving his murky ones. Damn him, showing up with that fucking smirk after what he did to me. Bastard!
“Yusuke, look...” I mumbled, eyes narrowed.
Yusuke turned away from the Masked Fighter. “Look at what?” Yusuke asked, looking at me.
He got his answer a second later, feeling the massive Spirit Energies hit him. Looking forward Yusuke narrowed with his eyes at the man, as well as everyone else. It was quiet, despite the crowds uproar over their 'heros' appearing, but we all ignored them as they began to chant his name. However, Yusuke stiffened when the 'man' himself pointed at Yusuke, his smirk growing into an evil grin. But the glare returned to Yusuke's eyes when Toguro pointed towards himself. Deciding to copy Toguro's silent threat, Yusuke dragged his thumb across his neck before giving him a thumbs down, I would've gone for the middle finger personally but that's just me. Growing serious once again, I couldn't help but smirk when they all turned to leave, all of them disappearing into one of Kane's Shadow Techniques, darkness spilling out of the doorway.
The Masked Fighter glanced at the Spirit Detective. “At least your act is tough.” She said monotonously, and I wasn't able to tell if she was being sarcastic or not, but considering the look I believe sarcastic.
“Hey, I work hard at it!” Yusuke snapped, glaring down at her.
Kuwabara -being a savior for cutting off an argument that was about to ensue-, gripped the metal railings, sweat trickling down his temple again, his eyes wide with fear. “No, this can't be! How could I have missed it for so long? They must have shielded their Energy from detection. I feel so...light headed.” He said, falling to his knees with a grunt.
“Kuwabara,” I kneeled down next to him. “Calm down, don't start freaking out now, ok?” I asked, worried.
However, Kuwabara shook his head. “We can't compete with these guys, Urameshi, what are we gonna do?” He asked, completely ignoring my attempt, and I frowned at the ningen. Oh Kuwabara...
“Sorry for the delay folks, we weren't prepared for the last fight to end so...abruptly.” Koto turned to the yellow bored that hung on the stadium walls, the names changing to the appropriate ones. “But now, get ready to watch as Team Gorenja takes on Team Kaido! We can only hope it'll be half as grueling, twice as long as the last match!” She said with a smile as the crowd erupted in cheers.
I stood up, letting out a sigh. “How about we just don't watch the next guys fighting? We're not gonna go up against them anyway.” I said, looking at everyone.
“Sure,” Yusuke put his hands behind his head. “We'll just wait in one of the rooms 'til Shaky gets his footing again.” He said with a smirk, once again not wanting to give up a chance to tease one of his teammates/friends, and I just stared at him with a blank look.
“Go to hell, Urameshi.” Kuwabara mumbled with a glare.
Botan shook her head at the two, but smile. “Then I'll buy us some drinks, see you all in a few.” She said with a wave before running into the hallway, disappearing around the corner.
With the others agreeing silently, I coaxed Kuwabara to get up from his spot on the ground. After a few seconds he finally did, albeit shakily. Watching him as he walked next to Yusuke and Kurama, I couldn't help but feel sorry for him. The guy's only ningen with a very high six sense, this couldn’t be easy for him. Seeing the eye roll that I got from Hiei, I stuck my tongue out at him and glared, which wasn't very affective considering the little blue penguin-thing in my arms. Hiei only smirked, and I got a blush on my cheeks, stupid me for not looking intimidating with a penguin in my arms... Ignoring those thoughts, we all walked into one of the waiting rooms and we all took our appropriate places. Hiei was on his windowsill, Puu and I were in front of said windowsill, Kurama was on my right next to the windowsill, Yusuke and Kuwabara were standing in front of the table that occupied the center of the room, and the Masked Fighter was opposite them. Botan still hadn't come back with the drinks yet.
Kuwabara still wasn't doing any better than before, and I was starting to think he was overreacting... “I'm just saying it's not that big of a deal, Kuwabara, and us bitching about it isn't gonna help.” Yusuke said with a sigh, his arms crossed in front of his chest.
I nodded from my spot to his right. “Yeah, just calm down already, I have to fight my insane brother and you don't see me shaking. The bastard even broke my wrist easily for fuck's sake, which hurt like a bitch I'll have you know.” I said with an irk mark, glaring down at my bandaged limb. However, that didn't seem to make Kuwabara feel any better. Aw...
“Not helping.” Kurama said with a sweat drop.
I let out a blush of embarrassment and I rubbed the back of my head. “O-oh...Why don't you just ignore me?” I asked with a nervous laugh, making the others stare at me blankly, besides Yusuke who was smirking at me. I hate them... Not really.
“We try, but you won't shut up, Onna.” Hiei said smirking, putting in his two cents.
I shot him a glare. “Bite me.”
Kuwabara actually had been ignoring us the whole time, and Yusuke let out a sigh. “Look Kuwabara, you probably feel their powers now because your senses got better.” Kuwabara was ignoring him, once again. “Come on, Toguro's the guy who made us come to this stupid Tournament, none of us thought it was gonna be a joy ride, but we can beat him ok?” He asked, still not looking at the shaking ningen.
“Tsk, tsk, tsk.”
The sudden voice made us all -minus Hiei of course- to the door, our eyes narrowed slightly at the people now standing in our doorway. Team Uraotogi. The five members were there, but I didn't really bother to wonder where the other one was. They were smirking at us just like Toguro's team, however we weren't intimidated -well Kuwabara mostly- like we were when they showed up. I glared at the five of them, already annoyed. Why the hell do we always get targeted and 'threatened'? It's getting really fucking annoying, and these guys were only adding to that! This Tournament better fucking end soon or I am so going to be pissed!
“Don't you think you all are forgetting about somebody?” The blue haired boy from earlier asked mockingly.
Kurama's jade-hued eyes narrowed coldly on our unexpected 'guests', his face emotionless especially when they began to laugh. “No one of real importance.” He said calmly, while I smirked.
“Huh,” Kuwabara stood up straighter, turning to Team Uraotogi. “Whose that?” He asked confused.
Yusuke was smirking at them all, a mocking glare in his eyes. Aw, I just love the before fight trash talking, especially when it was my team doing the good trash talking. “My guess would be the freak show rejects.” He supplied.
“I don't think they're fit to even be rejects.” I said, smirking when Yusuke did.
The blonde haired man, who was tall and broad shouldered, chewed -what I believe was gum- rather annoyingly. What kept his thick crew-cut blonde hair up was a large headband – with a picture of a black upside down peach on it- that encircled his forehead, and he had thick blonde eyebrows, which made me smirk slightly. He wore a sleeveless white jacket, although it didn't cover his entire torso. His baggy bottoms were a burnt sienna color, engulfed at the bottom by his long black boots, and held up by a white belt.
“I am Kuro Momotaro.” The blond said, his words slightly mumbled thanks to the gum.
The next was the tallest member of the team. He had dark skin, pink lips and short, wavy, dark blue hair which was held up by a thin, red colored headband. He had large eyes, while the pupils were miniscule in size, with no irises around them, or even eyebrows to speak of. The only articles of clothing he wore was a black mawashi around his waist; similar to a sumo wrestler, and a red bib with some kanji writing on it.
“Makintaro.” The tallest member said with a sadistic smirk.
The smallest member of the team was next, he was even shorter than the Masked Fighter I believe. The guys possessed a slightly endomorphic body structure, consisting of a rather stocky torso and a soft, round facial countenance. His jet-black hair, similar to that of Yusuke, was slicked-back, leaving just a few small bangs handing down the middle of his widow peak forehead. His clothes, typical fisherman garments, included a long-sleeved, turquoise shirt; short, black tights, which extend halfway down his shins; straw bottoms held up by a thin, black belt; and a small pair of sandals. In his left hand was a fishing pole, probably his weapon.
“Ura Urashima.” The small man said, another sadist smirk coming our way.
The blue haired boy from before was up next, and we all know what he looks like. “Shishi Wakamaru.” He said, his Katana -...bastard!- was strapped to his side.
The last member was the cocky old bastard that kind of scared me was that last one -finally-. He had a bush gray mustache, shoulder length gray hair, almost equally bushy eyebrows, long ears and a large nose. The clothes he wore were a simple orange vest and pants, a shirt of a greenish yellow shade, sandals and a black cap with two horizontal, red lines on it. Thank god that was the last of 'em, I hate describing them, takes up too much of my words...
“And you can just call me Onji.” The old man said, well that's fitting...
I sweat dropped after the introduction, although I was actually rather annoyed with them. “You know, we didn't ask for your names, we don't give a fuck about who you guys are.” I said, glaring at them.
Yusuke bit back a laugh at my blunt words, but continued to smirked anyway. “If you guys are looking for us to go easy on you, you're wasting your and more importantly our precious time.” He said mockingly, and I gave them all a smug look, take that you confident bastards!
Kuro Momotaro didn't seem to like that, considering he spat on our floor. “Nah, it's the exact opposite.” He said with a glare in his eyes, the glare narrowed on Yusuke.
“Well you could have just said that instead of spitting on the floor.” I mumbled.
Kuro Momotaro shot me a glare, while I only gave him the middle finger. “We want a good fight.” He said, turning back to the others.
Yusuke, Kuwabara and I rose eyebrows at them. “Huh?” We asked.
“We will be famous, but we're going to need more then two minutes of exposure for us to get that way.” Shishi Wakamaru said, that fucking little smirk present on his lips. God I want that guy to either die or to get punched repeatedly in the face. ...I hate him.
Yusuke glared as they began to walk away form us. “Arrogant little prick, don't you think?” He asked, making sure that they -especially Shishi- heard that.
“You could say that again.” Kuwabara nodded in agreement.
Seeing Shishi Wakamaru stop short after hearing that, I was not gonna let the guy just walk away, I wanted to hear what he had to say. If he had the balls, that is. “What, you got something to say to us, Pretty Boy?” I asked sarcastically, raising an eyebrow with a smirk.
“If not, then I will.” Yusuke got another smirk on his lips.“If you wanna be famous, you should start a boy band, you got the look down.” He said mockingly, and I smirked. Ha.
Shishi turned around, fangs and horns suddenly appearing out of his mouth and head, his eyes shrinking drastically, making me stare at him with wide eyes, sweat dropping. Well damn! “We'll get ugly soon enough, Urameshi, just you wait!” He shouted.
I covered Puu's eyes, an 'appalled' look on my face. “Sir, there is a child here, put that thing away!” I shouted, trying to keep the 'shocked' look on my face when Yusuke began to laugh.
Shishi shot me a glare as the fangs and horns disappeared, and they all walked away, while I leaned against the windowsill with a smug look on my face. That was awesome. “Those guys aren't even worth two minutes, their powers are nothing compared to the what Toguro was giving off.” Kuwabara said with a glare.
“We could always wear blindfolds, at least that way would be more amusing.” Yusuke said turning to the red haired ningen, both of them now smirking and laughing slightly. I smiled, seeing that they feeling better.
“Pride is for the weak, Yusuke.” The Masked Fighter spoke up, eyeing Yusuke intensely. And there it goes...
Yusuke didn't seem to have forgotten his annoyance towards her, and the glare reappearing in his eyes. “Leave me alone!” The Masked Fighter said nothing, but continued to stare at Yusuke with a narrowed look in her brown eyes. “Stop looking at me like that you masked freak!” Yusuke punching the wall next to the door, making Botan -with drinks- and I jump, and Botan drop the drinks with a gasp of surprise. “If you've got something to say, say it!” He shouted angrily, taking his fist back from the small hole.
“It's quite simple really, if the leader of Team Toguro is Toguro, then the leader of Team Urameshi should be Yusuke Urameshi. The question I'm posing is: Do you have what it takes to beat Toguro all by yourself, Yusuke Urameshi?” She asked, and I frowned, this isn't going to end well.
Seeing Yusuke ball his fists, Kuwabara held his hands out between the two. “Guys, guys, break it up, let's try and get along.” He said, getting nervous as well.
“Kuwabara's right, can we please talk this through peacefully?” Botan said worriedly with a nod.
Yusuke, however, ignored the two of them, and all I could do was just stay quiet with Kurama and Hiei. “You think you should lead this team instead of me?!” Yusuke shouted angrily down at the Masked Fighter, and I flinched, I really don't like it when my friends get mad. It's weird, but true.
“If necessary.” The Masked Fighter walked out the door. “Follow me.” She said, disappearing.
“Yeah, let's take this outside!” Yusuke growled, following her.
Botan ran a few steps, but stayed in the line of vision from the door way, her pink eyes narrowed in worry. “Yusuke, don't be stupid!” She shouted, and by the look on her face a second later, Yusuke had ignored her and was now around the corner. Great.
“Let them be.” Hiei suddenly spoke up, making us look at him. “They will have to settle this themselves.” He said, his gaze out the window, as usual.
“Yeah, that's what we're afraid might happen.” Kuwabara put his hand to his chin, a frown on his lips. “Those two are so strong and so mad they'll probably settle this all the way to the death, and that's no good.” He said, but he didn't sound too worried, which made me narrow my eyes at him, but I stayed silent. I didn't know what to say, so why say anything? It wouldn’t change anything.
“It's a shame, but their's nothing we can do.” Hiei said calmly, and that made me sweat drop.
“And even if there were anything that could be done, it's hardly our place to interfere with their affairs.” Kurama said, his eyes still closed, even after all the yelling.
Botan's eyes were alight with worry. “How can you possibly say those things?! Can't you see they can tear this team apart?!” She clenched her fists tightly, glaring at all of us, especially when we all had our eyes closed, not looking at her. “And none of you even seem to be bothered enough to care!” She shouted angrily, running out of the room.
“Well, that was fun, huh Puu?” I grumbled sarcastically, petting the penguin lightly while the boys sweat dropped at me, but they said nothing.
Puu only frowned. “Puu...” He mumbled sadly, looking off after Yusuke. Aw...
~*~*~*Later That Day, Hotel*~*~*~
It had been hours after the whole argument between Yusuke and the Masked Fighter, and while that had went on, Team Gorenja made it to the Semi-Finals, but it's not like we were ever going to face them. But that wasn't on my mind, considering I was worried about the two members of my team who have yet to come back. I was sitting next to Kurama while Kuwabara was opposite us, and Hiei was on his windowsill once again. Kurama and Kuwabara were playing a card game, while I was staring out the window with a worried expression on my face. It was raining, and whenever it rained it always foretold something was going to happen, but good or bad was a mystery. I hope they're both ok...
“So hey, Urameshi and the Masked Lady have been gone a long time.” Kuwabara spoke up, breaking me from my worried state, making me look at him, seeing him stare out the window as well, Kurama doing the same.
“Indeed.” Kurama nodded.
I let out a sigh, pressing my back agains the couch cushions with a frown on my lips. “I'm starting to worry, I really hope they didn't kill each other.” I mumbled worriedly.
Kuwabara only nodded in my direction before he turned to the red haired kitsune. “Kurama, what do you think about our chances? Two more rounds and we get to go home.” He said as he held up two cards, which Kurama only took one of.
“These are the Semi-Finals, it will definitely be a challenge to overcome.” Kurama put two cards on the table. “We'll be moved to a new stadium with an even wilder crowd, and I'm sure the committee will do anything to thwart us.” He said with a narrowed look in his eyes.
“That doesn't bother me, bring on the guns and the arrows, nothing I'm afraid of.” Kuwabara said with a smirk, taking a card from Kurama, only to frown at what he got. A Joker.
“Ugh, don't talk about guns, I had a bad experience with them.” I grimaced, remembering my wounds. Ow...
Kuwabara let out a nervous laugh when he saw the narrowed look I gave him, but that stopped when we all heard the door to our room open. Looking to our rights, or Kuwabara's left, we saw Botan, Shizuru, Keiko -who had Puu in her arms- and Yukina standing there. Glancing at Hiei, I saw him tense up slightly, his eyes narrowing as he clenched his fist. Aw, poor Hiei, now this is going to be awkward for him.
“Da dada da!” Botan shouted giggling with an arm full of candy in her arms. “The Calvary has arrived!”
Keiko smiled at us, although much less than Botan's wide grin. “Hey there you guys.” she said as they all walked into the room, and I smiled at them. At least I wasn't the only girl here...
“You know you could have knocked Botan, were discussing important business here.” Kuwabara said as he watched Botan walk towards our table, her arms clutched around the candy and snacks that were about to spill over. Ooh, I do love candy...
Botan leaned towards Kuwabara with a smirk on her lips, giving him a knowing look. “Oh, and how do you explain the cards in your hand?” She asked sarcastically, but it was in good fun.
“She's got you there, Kuwabara.” I said with a smirk as well.
Kuwabara gave Botan a sour look, taking his cards away from her view. “I guess you've never seen a mobster movie.” He mumbled annoyed, making Botan and I share similar looks, our smirks growing wider at the red haired ningen.
But I narrowed my eyes in confusion. “What's a 'mobster'?” I asked.
“It's nothing.” Kurama said with a sweat drop, smiling at me. Aw, I wanted to know what a mobster was!
I looked back when I saw Yukina walked over to Kuwabara, drinks in her arms. “Has your back injury healed yet, Kazuma?” Yukina asked him with a warm smile on her lips, and I silently aww'd at them. What? Leave me alone!
“Oh yeah, it was just a scratch!” Kuwabara stood up quickly with a goofy smile on his lips. “You wanna play some cards with us?” He asked, holding out the cards to her.
Looking away from those two, I looked to my right when I saw Keiko approach Kurama and I, a worried look on her face and I could already tell it was about Yusuke. “Um, have you two seen Yusuke?” She asked, holding Puu close to her. See, told you...
“He's still out with the Masked Fighter, we're not sure where.” Kurama answered, looking up at her.
“I see, I hope he's fine,” Keiko frowned as she looked down at Puu. “Puu's been acting really funny, he doesn't even wanna fly.” She said worriedly.
“Puu.” Puu mumbled tiredly, he didn't look to good actually. Aw...
Botan put her hand comfortingly on Keiko's shoulder, making the shorter girl look at her. “What ever he's doing, I'm sure he can handle it, Keiko. Let's just have some fun, ok?” She asked with a smile.
“Ok!” Kuwabara pumped his fist in the air.
“That's right baby brother, it might be your last night in the living. Enjoy yourself, I won't tell mom if you drink your first beer.” Shizuru said with a smirk on her lips, while Kuwabara looked embarrassed.
“Gosh darn it Shizuru, you always gotta embarrass me in front of my friends!” Kuwabara shouted, while I only laughed at him, but I silently wished that was my relationship with Kane. At least she doesn't break wrists...
Minutes passed by and we were all sitting on the couches playing a game called 'Go Fish'. We were all eating and laughing -or they were, Hiei and I weren't-. Hiei had an obvious reason for not laughing or having fun considering it's him and he feels a bit suffocated in a room filled with so many people, mainly his sister. I, on the other hand was pissed because I had only started playing this game for the first time and I was sucking at it terribly! Go Fish is suppose to be an easy game, but I was completely horrendous at it, and they wouldn't stop making fun of me! >.<*
Kuwabara suddenly let out a laugh. “Ha, I'm getting the hang of this five card draw, who wants to go fish?” He asked with a smirk, his eyes landing on my fuming form, seeing the death glare I was giving the cards in my hand.
“Go to hell, Kuwabara.” I mumbled, turning my glare to him.
I let out an embarrassed shout seconds later, apparently doing something wrong again and the others began to laugh. Great. *I hate this stupid game, I don't fucking understand it at all!* I thought annoyed.
Turning away from us, Kurama turned Hiei with a 'smile'. “'Come join us Hiei, we're practically a family here.” He said a bit teasingly, a smirk hidden behind that smile.
“Kurama, don't make me pull our your precious voice box.” Hiei snapped, glaring at him sideways.
After that it was nothing but everyone playing Go Fish, Hiei brooding in his windowsill/corner, and me growing ever more frustrated with this stupid game. I mean how hard is this game?! It's not hard at all, yet I still can't get a single guess right! Everyone else pretty much knows what I have, it's like they're psychic or something. Lucky bastards! I swear I'm going to win this game if it's the last thing I do! ...I just don't know how to do it... Wait. My eyes were alight with realization and I glanced over at Hiei, hiding the smirk that was on my lips.
*Hiei, I have a proposal, and I don't mean THAT one.* I thought with a blush, watching Shizuru go.
Hiei sweat dropped. {What?}
Dammit, I lost again! *I need your help in winning this stupid ningen game.* I thought with an irk mark, ignoring the others as they smirked at me. Damn them....
{You want me to cheat for you?} Hiei thought blankly, suppressing the urge to face-palm.
*Yes.*
{No.}
*Come on, Hiei! Please?*
{Why would I want to help you? I get nothing out of it.}
*Well I thought you would want to get back at Kurama for teasing you about the whole 'Yukina' thing, seeing as how he did it twice without you really doing anything.* I suddenly got a tiny smirk. *You know that I think about it, you didn't do anything but threaten him. I guess your just talk now, aren't you?* I asked.
Hiei got a blank look on his face. {That only made me want to help you less, Onna.}
*Just help me already, dammit!* I thought with an irk mark.
Letting out a sigh, Hiei glanced at me with an annoyed look. {If I say yes, will you leave me alone?}
*Yes!*
{...Fine.}
*Yay, thank you so much!* I hid a smile, but my tone easily made up for that.
Hiei let out a silent groan, why did he agree? {Shut up, Onna, or I'll reconsider.} He thought back annoyed.
Not caring for his harsh words, I sat back and watched my plan unfold perfectly. Hiei would read everyone's -but Yukina's- minds and tell me which cards they had, while I hid a smirk the whole time. After five rounds of playing I was ahead by at least ten pairs, while everyone was not. The game was suppose to be over by now, but since Kuwabara was such a sore loser that he made us keep playing, not that I minded of course. >:D
“Darn it, Kira, how did you get so much better all of a sudden?” Kuwabara asked annoyed.
Resisting the urge to glance at Hiei, my smirk widened. “Let's just say that I'm psychic.” I said mockingly.
An irk mark erupted on Kuwabara's temple, but he glared down at his cards, not saying another things. However, that didn't mean that Kurama wouldn't. Jade-hued eyes traveled over my form to the fire youkai's and he smirked slightly. Kurama waited for the perfect opportunity as he sat back in his seat, wanting to be comfortable when the scene unfolded.
“Hiei, I would appreciate it if you would stop reading our minds now, Kira has already won.” Kurama said, the look on his face growing when he saw Hiei and I stiffen.
Kuwabara and the girls stared at us with sweat drops, but Kuwabara quickly recovered. “You mean that the Shrimp was helping Kira cheat?! Darn it, I knew that you got too good for it to be just luck, Kira!” He shouted with an irk mark, pointing at my nervous laughing form.
*U-Uh, Hiei, I think we should leave now.* I thought nervously.
Hiei shot me a glare, mostly because he never liked being caught reading someone's mind. {And why would I do that?} He asked annoyed, an irk mark beginning to appear.
*Do you WANT me to leave you alone with them so they can tease you?*
{...Good point.}
“Hiei, now!” I shouted, running out of the room, the fire youkai doing the same but going the other way. Leaving a room full of people to sweat drop when they realized that we were gone, while only one smirked.
~*~*~*The Next Day, The New Stadium*~*~*~
After returning a few hours later to the hotel, we all cleaned up and prepared for the match the next morning. And when the next morning came, I put on a white tank top, a fuchsia off shoulder t-shirt, and black capri sweatpants, as well as the black fighting shoes. With that we all -minus Yusuke and the Masked Fighter- went to the new stadium. It was actually pretty cool from what I could tell, but we were in a dark tunnel so... However, when the doors that were before us opened and light streamed in we saw the dark colors of the new stadium reach our eyes, as well as the many angry faces of the youkai in the stands. I also saw the new announcer named Juri, who looked like mermaid, but I didn't pay her too much mind, I was only glaring at Team Uraotogi as they glared at us. Can't wait for this fight...
“I was not exactly expecting to fight this round four against five.” Hiei said annoyed, a glare in his eyes.
Kurama's jade-hued eyes were narrowed as he stared at the team opposite us. “What ever cause is delaying them must be important, we'll simply have to work around it.“ He said, his tone serious but calm as well.
I let out a sigh. “At least we aren't severely out numbered.” I mumbled, crossing my arms.
“I don't know why you're all stressing, Hiei, I'll just beat them all myself!” Kuwabara looked serious, clenching his fist at his sides. “Let's go!” He said with a smirk as he ran towards the ring.
Hiei, Kurama and I walked after him, jumping into the ring just as Team Uraotogi did. When we saw them, the smirks that had been on Kurama's and Kuwabara's faces dropped and they became serious. Hiei and I were staring at them with narrowed gazes as all of us walked towards the center to meet for our match rules. Juri was already there, waiting for us. And we continued to glare as we stopped at the center.
“What magnificent images of destruction and misery must be swimming through these competitors heads as they stare down their enemies in the ring?” Koto's voice spoke up from her box near the crowd, but we didn't look at her. “But as the count down approaches zero, Yusuke and the Masked Fighter have still not entered the stadium, leaving their teammates mixed-matched four to five. Does this mean that either of the controversial youkai Hiei, Kurama or Kira will have to fight twice to keep their team alive?” She asked, an excited smirk appearing on her lips.
“What's that suppose to mean?!” Kuwabara glared at her, shaking his fist. “I said I'm takin' 'em all myself!” He shouted angrily, while Koto let out a nervous smile, rubbing the back of her head.
Shishi scoffed. “I thought we agreed on a good fight?” Looking around Shishi saw the other two members of our team had yet to show up, like Koto had said. “What has happened to the rest of your team?” He asked, smirking still.
Kuwabara regained his composure and turned back to them. “Oh, they just said you guys weren't worth their time.” He said taking what I had said many chapters back.
“Good one, Kuwabara.” I said with a smirk, seeing Shishi glare at Kuwabara's smirking form.
Juri looked between the two teams, and rose her left arm to catch our attention. “It is now time to choose the conditions for your fight.” She explained professionally, at least she wasn't a sadistic bitch like Koto, thank god they got a new announcer like I wanted.
“It doesn't matter,” Hiei glanced at her for a second. “Let's just see who lives.” He said darkly.
Kuro Momotaro once again chewed on his gum, a smirk on his lips. “You're a hasty one, aren't you boy? I take it you're fighting first?” He asked, blowing an obnoxious pink bubble, while I rolled my eyes.
“That's right I am, first, last and only.” Hiei narrowed his eyes up at the man, that evil smirk on his lips once again. “I've been under too much stress lately, killing you all should be a good remedy.” He said, black fire and purple lightning crackling around his hand.
“We're all anxious to fight, Hiei. Why don't we let an outside party decide the pairings?” Shishi pulled out two pentagon shaped dies, holding them up for us to see. “Each seven sided die represents a team with one members name on each side. The seventh is a free space, and anyone can fight when it comes up. You must fight as many times as your name appears, as long as you're still alive.” He explained.
“That doesn't bother me,” Hiei smirked, staring them down with blood lust in his eyes. “But one thing, whenever it's the name of someone not around, I will be fighting in their place.” He said, and no one had any objections.
However I looked around, noticing something. “Where's your sixth person?” I asked.
Shishi smirked sadistically, making me sweat drop. “He had some...out of the ring complications.” He said slowly, as if to make is sound mysterious.
“You can just say he died, dumb ass.” I said, rolling my eyes in annoyance.
Ignoring Shishi and I as we glared at each other, Juri rose her left arm once again. “Ok, matches will be chosen by rolling of dice, multiple turns are allowed, and as always in the Semi-Finals five wins will advance.” She announced with a smile on her lips.
“Fate makes their choice.” Shishi said, throwing the die between us.
We all watched as the pentagon shaped dies came to a stop, and I grimaced at what I saw on them, for one reason. “Looks like you got Makintaro, Kira.” Kuwabara stated when he saw our names light up in red.
I looked at Hiei. “S-Sorry.” I laughed nervously, seeing the glare directed on me. That would be the reason.
“Come on, girly, I don't have all day!” Makintaro shouted with a smirk on his lips.
I rolled my eyes, glaring at him. “Great, I have another guy that thinks that I'm a push over just because I'm a girl.” I grumbled with an irk mark on my temple.
“All right fans, it's the first match up of the Semi-Finals, Kira vs the big man Makintaro!” Juri stepped back as it was only Makintaro and I in the ring now, the others on their respective sides. “Begin!” She shouted, raising her left hand above her head.
Wanting this fight to be over, so Hiei won't kill me, I grabbed my Katana from it's sheath. Letting a smirk fall on my lips, I clutched the handle hard I lept forward, letting my sword fly twice towards Makintaro form before I reappeared to where I had originally been a few seconds before. Letting the smirk fall off my lips, I just stared with my left hand held behind my back, emotionless.
“That's very impressive.” Kurama complimented.
Hiei smirked, staring at my form. “Hn, she's gotten slightly better.” He said, and I kept a calm look on my face despite the 'slightly' part. Damn bastard, I got a lot better...
“Huh?” Kuwabara mumbled.
Everyone -minus Kurama and Hiei of course- stared in shock when they saw the blood spill from behind me, forming a puddle of crimson liquid in stark contrast against the ring. Despite clutching a severed arm in my hand, I couldn't help but feel very proud of myself and happy. I couldn’t wait to see the expression Makintaro gets when he sees his arm gone. Aw, I love being mean :D>
Makintaro's smirking face didn't change, his eyes glancing at the blood. “Aw, is it your time of the month, little girl? How embarrassing!” He shouted with laughter, throwing his head back.
A blush of embarrassment came to my cheeks, but the glare that formed in my eyes only intensified. Oh, he is SO going to regret ever saying that to me. “What the fuck did he just say?” I growled out angrily, looking over my shoulder at my team.
They only sweat dropped.
That was all the confirmation I needed, and I threw another cold glare in Makintaro's direction. He was still smirking that annoying little fucking smirk, and my right eye twitched rapidly as an irk mark pulsed. He really should NOT have said that, not at all. Before anyone could react properly, I was in front of Makintaro, swinging his arm at his face, it colliding with his jaw painfully. The blow echoed around the stadium loudly, and everyone stared at me in shock. If Makintaro could look at me with shock he would, but he currently was looking the other way thanks to the strength that I put into my hit. However, regaining his senses once again, Makintaro looked down to see his arm in my hand, his eyes widening for a second but that dropped when the pain finally caught up with him, making him double over holding his arm.
I smirked, patting his cheek with his severed hand before I smacked him once again. “Aw, look who just got bitch slapped by his own hand. How embarrassing.” I said back, my smirk widening when I heard a laugh from Kuwabara.
“Well now, isn't that a bit disgraceful.” Shishi said annoyed, ha take that ya confident bastard.
Kuwabara smirked up at me, seeing the arm now in my hand. “Wow, Kira's awesome, she's even faster than I thought!” He shouted from behind me.
“You're lucky that I don't like to kill people as much as Hiei does.” I said tossing the arm to Juri, who surprisingly caught it, and I bit back a laugh as I walked away hearing her let out a shriek. Looks like Hiei is rubbing off on me :D.
Makintaro looked after me. “Hey?! Where you going?! I'm not done with you!” I just ignored him, and the stare that Hiei was giving me for ignoring the advice he gave me as I walked towards my team once again.“I said I'm not done with you yet! Axe Blade Fist!” Makintaro shouted angrily.
*Axe-what-now?* I thought with wide eyes, and I whipped back around.
When I faced Makintaro once again, I found the man off his knees and now running towards me. The left hand that I took off was now back, but this time it was in the form of a very sharp axe. My eyes were wide as I saw Makintaro jump into the air above me, but I regained my senses. When I saw the axe come down towards me, I was able to dodge with a second to spare. Feeling myself land on Makintaro's shoulders, I looked at where I had been, and what I saw made my eyes widen. Floating down towards the ring were a good few inches of my black and purple highlighted hair. A few seconds of shock passed by me, and an irk mark appeared on my head, feeling the slight weight difference in my hair. Grabbing my Katana I held the pointed edge towards Makintaro's head, and my glare was now deadly when I felt Makintaro tense up, knowing I was there.
“You cut my hair, now I cut you!” I shouted, plunging the blade through Makintaro's head and out of his chin, and I lept off. When he hit the floor, I took my Katana back. “Fucker!” I spat angrily, wiping the purple blood off my blade.
“Gross!” Kuwabara shouted, but I ignored him.
Juri, already knowing he was dead, rose her hand. “And the winner by death is Kira!” She announced, and I jumped off the ring, hissing colorful words under my breath. Kuwabara and Kurama stepped away from me when I passed them, making them sweat drop.
“Kira wins in under a minute, getting bonus points in my book for both skull piercing and amputation!” Koto said with a smile, great now I just got on her good side. Wonderful.
“And that means it's time for match two!” Juri shouted with a smile, raising her left arm again.
Ending it here!

Hiei sweat dropped. {What?}
Dammit, I lost again! *I need your help in winning this stupid ningen game.* I thought with an irk mark, ignoring the others as they smirked at me. Damn them....
{You want me to cheat for you?} Hiei thought blankly, suppressing the urge to face-palm.
*Yes.*
{No.}
*Come on, Hiei! Please?*
{Why would I want to help you? I get nothing out of it.}
*Well I thought you would want to get back at Kurama for teasing you about the whole 'Yukina' thing, seeing as how he did it twice without you really doing anything.* I suddenly got a tiny smirk. *You know that I think about it, you didn't do anything but threaten him. I guess your just talk now, aren't you?* I asked.
Hiei got a blank look on his face. {That only made me want to help you less, Onna.}
*Just help me already, dammit!* I thought with an irk mark.
Letting out a sigh, Hiei glanced at me with an annoyed look. {If I say yes, will you leave me alone?}
*Yes!*
{...Fine.}
{...Good point.}
