Disclaimer: If you don't know this my now, you're more of an idiot than Kuwabara, but I don't own YYH, I'm not getting paid for this.

Neptune's Mirror: I'm on a roll; let's keep it going while I can.

Hiei's POV

Kurama smiles wanly at the words he knows I meant in a mostly friendly way, then pitches forward. I catch him and lower him slowly to the ground, realizing he's passed out.
Yusuke shakes himself and heads over to the two of us, “Guess you didn't need me here huh?” he says seeming angry about it.
“Hn,” I replied. I hadn't but there was no point in saying it.
“Is he gonna be okay?”
“He will be.”
“How are we supposed to get him back though?”
“We'll have to carry him, or wake him up,” I answered, though even awake he would probably be unable to walk.
“Huh, I'm awake,” Kurama says faintly, opening his eyes again as he struggles into consciousness.
“Kurama, are you okay?” Yusuke asks, worriedly. I would have, but I wasn't sure how Yusuke'd react to the fact that I cared. Kurama knows I care beneath my ever thinning mask, but I don't know if the others do. I have to seem detached, even about my best friend.
“Not really,” he paused, “I didn't scream,” he whispered. I missed the importance, but it obviously mattered to him.
“Um, okay, can you walk? We have to get out of here,” Yusuke says, probably thinking, as I was, that these guys had a leader, and he would probably be here soon.
“I can try.”

Kurama's POV

They saved me, at last. But I can't walk. Hiei knows that, but Yusuke doesn't. How am I going to get out of here? I try to stand, but, I can barely move.
“I can't stand,” I finally say, admitting to my weakness.
“That's all right, we'll just carry you out,” Yusuke says, knowing there is no way around it. Then to my embarrassment, Hiei carefully picks me up. I hate being so weak, having to be carried, but I can't do anything about it.
“Uh, Hiei, isn't he a little heavy?” Yusuke asks, probably thinking its weird for Hiei to be carrying someone taller than him, I'd smile if I could muster the energy.
“No, I doubt they fed him, and it's been a week.” I don't even bother attempting a reply, all my energy going towards a losing fight with unconsciousness.

Hiei's POV
I hold Kurama carefully, trying not to cause more damage. I wasn't lying about his not being heavy; his normally slight frame seemed to weigh almost nothing.
“Okay, well, let's get going then,” says Yusuke quickly.
“Yes.” We start out the exit and a young youkai jumps down from one of the rafters. I'd reach for my sword, but, my hands are full. I watch carefully, ready to set Kurama down and fight at a moment's notice.
“Don't kill me,” the youkai says with eyes full of fear, and …something else.
“Who are you?” asks Yusuke, still guarded, but willing to listen.
“I don't have a name anymore. Technically I'm one of those like you killed. The others changed after their capture, I didn't. I can never leave for I screamed while in the chains and that binds you here forever, except for when you're sent to do the leaders bidding,” she explains quietly. So that's why Kurama said `I didn't scream.' That makes sense, of course he wouldn't.
“Why do they trap people here?”
“It's the leaders bidding. They do whatever he wants. A lot of them change after being here, they become willing servants, others do it for a chance to get out of here just for a little while, even though there's no freedom, but mostly, even the willing ones, they do it so they can die.”
“I don't get it. What do you mean so they can die?” Yusuke asks, echoing a thought in my own mind.
“In here, you don't die. Out there, you can sometimes die if you find someone to take your place. And there's also the chance that you'll be killed. That's the only way out of this hell.”
“Oh, so, are you saying you're stuck here forever?”
“Actually, only until the leader dies, but he may never die,” she says almost wistfully.
“Hn, everyone dies,” I say spitefully. It was after all true, demons got lazy, forgot to watch their backs, or they went up against someone too strong, and then they died.
“True, but sometimes they need a little help along the way. Kill him, please. If not for my sake, for your friends, he might not have broken, but he's been marked.”
“Where is he?” Yusuke asks, looking ready to chase after him now.
“Somewhere deep in the Makai, I don't know exactly where.”
“Hn,” I add, useless information, we knew that already.

Yusuke's POV
Well, we can't go after him now. We have to get Kurama back home before he dies, not that he will, that came out wrong.
“Actually, you need not look yourselves, he will come to you himself for defeating his minions and taking your friend from his grasp. Please don't tell him about me though. He hates me already since I never stopped fighting him, even after I screamed, and I don't want him to do something worse than he already has to me, just in case you don't kill him the first time.”
“I doubt we'll be taking to him. But right now, we have to get our friend back,” I say, glancing back at Hiei and Kurama.
“Don't let him exert himself too much; he's bound to have nightmares about those images for a long time. That along with the physical and mental injuries will probably keep him weak for quite awhile,” she says, her expression concerned.
“We'll watch him. Bye.”
“Goodbye, and good luck,” she says as we leave.
“Hn,” that was Hiei, of course.
