Chapter 8

"I think Kuwabara needs a brain transplant," said Ryu. He had just tripped over a pebble and landed face first into a tree. Kurama had to smile at this. He looked over at Ryu who was starring straight ahead. The morning sun was shining down on her face giving her pale complexion a creamy hue. He gently smiled and said in his flowing voice, "So how do u like this trip so far Ryu?"

"It's fun." Ryu look into Kurama's emerald eyes, "Have you found out anything about my father yet?"

Kurama's smile faded at this question. "No. I'm afraid not but I will I promise you." He was happy to see Ryu smile at this. "I'll get Botan to find me some files at Koenma's office and you can look at them personally."

"Thank you."

"I did manage to find out what your mother was though." Ryu's eyes widened, intrigued. "Well as you know, your mother was a hybrid." Ryu nodded as Kurama continued, "Well I did some research and I came to find out not only was she human and gate keeper but also elemental."

"Elemental?" asked Ryu, "How the hell can some one be elemental?" Hiei suspended from his train of thought and listened to what Kurama was saying. He had also remembered being told he had killed the last elemental. He gave Kurama a questioning look.

Kurama noticed Hiei's glare, "Turns out you didn't kill the last one Hiei. But yes, technically someone can't elemental or an element but she had the ability to control the elements at will. I heard that she was known all over the plains because of what she could do. Supposedly she could control the weather, wind, rain and such. She could also control fire, water, and earth."

"Wait, if she was known by so many how come any of you haven't heard of her. I mean its only been 17 years." Interrupted Ryu.

"Well, your mother was older than all of us standing here, and you're not only 17." Kurama saw the look of bewilderment upon Ryu's face and was about to say something when instead Hiei finished it for him, "Humans and demons age differently…fool…in human years you were only five when your mother died but in reality you were much older. Your memory must have been blocked out when you mother sent you to the human world."

Ryu noticed Kurama studying her so she looked at him, advising him to stop. Kurama half smiled and asked seriously, "have you ever noticed weird things when you were fighting or just on a day to day basis?"

Ryu was silent for a moment as she starred at the ground, "Yes actually. When I'm pissed off I feel strong surges flowing through my veins and I've been able to control an open flame." Kurama placed his hands in his pockets, he looked as if he was trying to piece a puzzle togethere. Ryu sensed he was hiding something valuable, "Why…?"

Kurama snapped out of his daze and looked down at Ryu, "Hm…oh no reason." He innocently smiled down at her as she arched a brow.

"Hn…I don't understand why you want to know about your parents anyways." Said Hiei coldly.

Ryu abruptly stopped and turned towards Hiei, "Of course you wouldn't you arrogant little bastard."

Hiei stood over her and glared into her eyes, "You obviously weren't too important your mother just left you and you have no idea who the hell your father is…pathetic."

Kurama noticed that the rest of the group were a couple miles ahead of them and spreading farther. "Uh guys…"

"SHUT UP!" they both growled and continued arguing. Kurama waved his hands in front of his face and backed away with a stupid smile.

"Ya and I believe that's the same fore you. At least I was thrown off an island! …Forbidden"

Hiei was now furious as he growled deep within his throat, I'd take that back if I were you unless you want to be dead…" he stepped closer to Ryu now closing any inch of space that had remained.

Ryu glared into Hiei's blood red eyes that were threatening death. She knew he was serious but she hadn't the least amount of care right now, "Go ahead and try to kill me!"

Kurama was in shock that the others hadn't heard their altercation. He knew he needed to tell the others to wait but he feared of leaving Hiei and Ryu alone.

"I don't even have to try."

Ryu went to punch Hiei in the face but he easily dodged and he grabbed her fist tightening his grip. She could feel her nails digging onto her flesh, drawing blood, from the pressure. She kicked Hiei in the chest throwing him off guard and she pinned him to the ground near the edge of the path they were traveling on. She looked down and the hill by Hiei's head and the crashing river at the end. "Looks like you're stuck." Kurama couldn't help but to laugh at how immature they were being. Ryu had her dagger up to Hiei's neck. He smirked and let out a small laugh, which pissed off Ryu, "What the hell is so funny?"

He grabbed her wrists and hit the dagger out of her hands and flipped her over him throwing her off the hill and unintentionally going along with her. He landed on top of her and held her hands behind her back. He smiled and whispered in her ear, "Now who's stuck, fool." Ryu arched her back, but that did nothing. He was having fun playing around with her. Kurama cautiously came running down the hill which distracted Hiei so Ryu lifted up her knee and tumbled over him landing on his lower abdomen. She playfully smiled at her victory. She noticed Hiei was also smiling…a real smile, not half of one. She couldn't help but to get lost in his crimson eyes, they were filled with so much mystery. She leaned closer to his face and whispered, "Looks like I've won." Hiei wiggled a little bit shifting her weight around. His smile turned into a s smirk, "Beginners luck."

"Looks like we'll be by ourselves for a little bit of this journey." Informed Kurama as he approached.

Ryu tilted her head trying to figure out what he said then she remembered how she and Hiei stopped while arguing, allowing the others to get away. She had completely forgotten about them. "Cant you sense them near by?"

"Honestly, I tried but I'm lost has to where the hell they went."

"Great, now I have to keep an even closer eye on you. Stupid job." Said Hiei in an annoyed voice.

"Ya, and I have to put up with this dick weed." Said Ryu as she un mounted him.

Kurama smiled This is going to be a long trip.

"Uh, hey guys…" said Boton.

"Yeah, what?" asked Yuske.

She looked at Yuske with big pink eyes and pointed behind them with an uneasy smile, "We lost our little friends!"

"Aw shit…."

"Huh what wait whats going on urameshi…?" asked Kuwabara

"You're such an Idiot!" yelled Yuske.
