Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Siren's Song ❯ Chapter 20
[ T - Teen: Not suitable for readers under 13 ]
Okay sorry this took forever and 5 days, but the computer is dead and I have to use this one and it’s weird and my sisters are always on it and if I get on it we have to fight cause they claim blah blah blah, anyway I'm back and that is what matters. Disclaimer: I don't own YYH.
Since it's been so long I'll give you brief description of where it was left off. Nyx woke up her parents, found out what her orgins truely are and what she must do. Her wings finally became fully healed and she kissed Hiei. She then fainted and now it goes to Mika at the temple alone with Genkai and Yukina while the boys are on a mission.

O ya, I think I have the whole out of point of view think fixed, I'm gonna try it.
Mika was frantic. She didn't remember why she had agreed to stay behind while the rest of the guys went on a mission, but she had. It was supposed to be routine and they were supposed to be back in about 5 hours, but that was over 6 hours ago. That and she had been getting weird vibes from Nyx's end of the connection they shared. To ease her mind she had tried carving again. In the hours that no one had returned she had managed to re-perfect her skill. She had carved tiny statues for Yukina and then began on staffs. When she had that mastered she began to carve herself a staff, with a blade that could be hidden inside and with a twist, sprung out to form a spear. She like her spirit spear, but a real on that she didn't have to use energy to create would be nice. Without realizing it she was finished.
It looked good, if she said so herself. Now all she had to do was find a blade. Searching the temple she finally asked Genkai for one. The old woman looked dubious at first but after Mika showed her the staff she complied. She gave her a rare compliment on her workmanship and walked away. Mika looked at the finished product for the first time. It was about 4 inches taller than she was, patterned with plants and animals from her homeland up and down its length. At the bottom was an upside down carved traditional looking witch-doctor skull to symbolize her shaman heritage and at the top a zebra girl and a girl with great wings stood back to back, both in a defense postition, ready for anything.
It was depicting her and her Nyx, ready for anything and having eachothers backs. It was a thing of beauty and power. As skilled as she was it was already deadly and with a slight twist of one of the leaves at the middle of the staff the blade sprung out, turning it into an even deadlier weapon. The blade Genkai had given her was beautiful. It was two steel blades cut into 2 triangles and put together (like the spear of destinity in Constantine which I also do not own) and the steel was black, with a bluish cast, marking it as the strongest and lightest steel that could only be forged by a fire and metal demon. It was extremely rare. But the it also had other purposes, it was a shaman staff, that would aid her if she needed to use her powers, it was to help her focus and fight spirits and magics. She was practicing with it when the others returned.
The fist thing she noticed was how beat up Yusuke and Kuwabara were, but the worst was what came next. Kurama was being dragged on a roughly made stretcher behind them. Mika ran to the boys and almost chocked with the sudden energy she felt in the air. 'Seems I made my staff just in time' she thought to herself. Some demon or other had put a spirit block on them, making it impossible for them to use their spirit energy. It wasn't a normal one though, it had the air of the dark side of the soul, and she figured it was from a Nemocrocer who had molded some poor spirits to his will. Mika flipped her newly made staff so the skull was on top and concentrated, chanting a Swahilian shaman spell to dispell the barrier.
To her surprise it immediatly went away, she didn't realize how much stronger she had gotten during her time here. She sent a spirit bird messagener (sp?) to fetch Genkai and Yukina to help and went to assit the guys. Once they were inside the three girls began to clean their wounds and bandage them. Kurama was okay, just knocked out, so Mika was finally able to relax. What had happened to them was that they were supposed to hunt down a Nemocrocer who had been stealing souls from warrior graveyards and trying to make an army.
The Nemocrocer had just began his project so he was still weak, or so Koenma had said. He turned out to be more of a challenge than he let on and had put the barrier on the boys early, and made them have to fight normally. They had managed to beat him, but barely. Yusuke and Kuwabara weren't so hurt because they were used to fighting hand to hand, but Kurama relied a lot on his Youko side (if it's not true, o well) and was the worst for wear. Yukina did all she could for him but he was still passed out. Mika sat by his bed and didn't move. Genkai had explained to the others what her strange staff was and what she was going to try to do.
Everyone had gone to sleep when Mika decided to use her staff. She concentrated gently on what she was looking for and slipped into the spirit zone, where everyone's spirit went when they slept or were unconscious. The sheer number of all the souls there threw her off for a second, but then she concentrated on just one, Kurama's. (I know it seems like this ability came from no where but she has been training for awhile and pretend Genkai helped her and she read books on it, k?) She sensed it off to the left and floated that way. She had to go through many dreams to get there, each one the product of some subconscious person. She was surprised that a lot of them had Kurama in them the closer she got to him, she guessed he was popular with the ladies at his school. Finally she got to his. She was surpried by what she saw.
In his subconscious Kurama was fighting some demon, she didn't know what kind or what one but it looked vaguely like giant lizard. But there was a figure chained to the far wall. Kurama was wearing old fashioned armor like she had seen in the midevil books that she had seen in Genkai's library. The giant dragon, as she now realized that's what it was, blew fire at Kurama and he ducked behind a huge sheild that he had on his arm and dove to the right, to bring up his sword and ram it into the dragons heart. It let out a piercing cry as it fell dead.
Kurama made his way over to the figure chained to the wall. Mika wasn't close enough to see who it was or what was said, so she cloaked her presense and got closer. As she did she realized it was HER that was chained to the wall, and she was wearing a deep blue velvet dress of the same time period as Kurama's armor. She had a funny cone-shaped hat on her head with a shimmery sheer cloth coming from the end of it. She was close enough to hear what Kurama was saying.
"Mika, my lady, I have slain the dragon to free you. Will you agree to take my hand in marriage?" The dream Mika managed to look coy and humble at the same time. "Yes, brave knight, if my father accepts I will take your hand" The real Mika tried hard not to crack up or choke, she wasn't sure which. She was about to reveal herself when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around to find Youko standing in front of her. She glanced back to Kurama but he was now kissing the dream Mika's hand, and turned back around.
"How can you see me?" But Youko just chuckled. "Amusing isn't it? He's had dreams like this since the water balloon fight." "How come you aren't, you know, with him?" Youko smirked. "When he dreams, he enters this realm it's like he enters his own mind. While he is here I am free to do what I please. I came here on a hunch that since he was unconscious you would find your way. And here I am. Now since this is in fact a dream I can do whatever I want." Mika mock-glared at him. "Youko you big pervert, this is serious, Kurama is unconscious and I am worried about him" Youko's ears dropped slightly and he bowed his head. "Just him?" Mika chuckled.
"No not just him" Youko looked up and was knocked over by Mika tackling him to the ground. "If you guys are okay and we are in this dream...I suppose we could take advantage of the situation." He grinned up at her before capturing her lips in a searing kiss. Mika returned it full force when she felt a nudge on her shoulder. She broke off and looked but didn't see anything there. "What the...." She never got to finish as she was suddenly tugged from the spirit zone and brought back to reality.
She looked up from her slumped position on the chair next to Kurama to see him sitting up in bed. Somehow while in the spirit zone she had slipped into a dream while Kurama had slipped out of his. She blushed, she would have to watch for that in the future. Kurama had a slight grin on his face and she could guess what Youko was telling him in that head of his. "Well I'm glad that your better, but since you have woken up, I think I'll head back to my room now..." She stood up and turned to go when Kurama grabbed her hand.
"Stay here tonight, please?" She turned and gave him a raised eyebrow look. He blushed when he caught what it had just sounded like he said. "No no not like that, just to sleep." She smiled and rested her staff against the wall. She slipped under the covers with Kurama and it was weird for a second until he wrapped his arm around her and pulled her to his chest. She grinned as she snuggled up against him and put her head on his chest. When his breathing had gotten deep and even she said the words she dared never say to him when he was awake. "...I love you..." Unbeknowest to her Kurama really was awake and when she slipped into sleep he said the words she never expected to hear. "I love you"
