How does she know him, and what the hell does he have to do with her prison time? Hiei mused on from his space on the windowsill, turning his to watch Shay to the dishes in the kitchen. Knowing Yoshi, he made her believe she was in love with him then screwed her over as soon as he could… Jackass…but before we jump to conclusions, let's get facts, hmm Hiei?
He stood up and calmly waltzed into the kitchen and pinned Shay against the pantry door. With a hand on either side of her head, he leaned forward not missing the flash of panic in her green-brown eyes. Now why would you be nervous woman? You got something to hide?
“What do you want Hiei? I need…”
The rest of Shay's statement was incoherent to Hiei, as he caught a scent he hadn't smelt in a while. Cinnamon, God it's been a while… She's a fire demon… He was shaken from his thoughts when she tried to leave his arms.
“You're fire demon...” he pushed her back against the pantry door.
“So?”
“So, I want to know why I couldn't figure it out until now…”
“Spirit World Parole Policy.”
“Talisman?”
“Yes… Why do you care?”
“It's called knowing your enemy.”
“So I'm an enemy?”
“Everyone has the potential to be an enemy. It's called being cautious.”
“No, it's called being paranoid. I'm on parole, why would I waste my time ghosting you?”
“Big words for someone whose only defense is a weapon she doesn't have…”
“First of all, who says I don't have it? Secondly, who says that's my only defense?”
“I've been in Solitary Confinement, Onna, I know what talismans they use for what.”
“Again with the assumptions… Who said it was a SC talisman?”
Hiei narrowed his eyes, “What do you mean, Onna?”
“It's a talisman Koenma uses to restrict the powers of a dangerous criminal. It has nothing to do with SC.”
Now that I actually look at her, I can see the talisman, on her left shoulder… Hiei lifted a hand to her shoulder and she stiffened in response.
“What are you doing?”
Hiei shook himself from his thoughts. “Nothing.”
“Then why won't you let me go?”
“I'm not done asking questions. What do you have to do with Yoshi?”
“That's none of your business.”
Hiei growled and leaned closer to her, “I'm MAKING it my business.”
“Why?”
“Because I want to.”
“Answer my question first.”
“I know Yoshi, I know what he tends to do to women and I'm interested in what he had to do with your prison time.”
“If you know Yoshi so well then why are you asking? If you know what he `tends to do to women', then you already knew what he TRIED to do to me… Unfortunately, I'm not as gullible as he would of liked.”
“What's that supposed to mean?”
Shay smiled and crossed her arms over her chest, “He tried to screw me in more ways than one and he didn't get very far, that's why he collected the bounty on my head.”
“Now why would a girl like you have a bounty on her head you don't seem-”
“You don't know who I am, that's why we're having this `Get to Know Your Enemy' speech remember?”
Hiei growled, I am REALLY tired of this… “WHY do you have a bounty on your head?”
“Because, I'm a felon…”
“Wonderful, so am I, now what THE HELL did you go to prison for?” Hiei clenched his teeth.
“Murder.”
Hiei glared at her before releasing her and going back to his windowsill. Shay stayed against the pantry for a moment before going to the sink and continuing the dishes.
I KNOW IT'S SHORT but I need time to stew over the next chapter…
