* Chapter 5 *

Ann strolled out of the portal, smiling proudly. Kurama followed out behind her, with Tommi clenched at his side, her face bared into the cleft of his arm and chest. Hiei giving his normal scowl, was the last to step out of the portal.

Ann turned around stretching. "Well that was fun, what's next?" She asked. Ann blinked when no one answered her, looking around, "What? What's wrong?" She asked.

Hiei scowled even harder, and gestured over to Kurama. Looking over at Kurama, Ann realized his dilemma. Kurama was stuck between trying to calm an almost hysteric Tommi, and trying to get his arm released from her death grip, before she ripped it off. Ann had to chock back a laugh. The scene in front of her was more then just entertaining, but down right hilarious. Kurama face held an expression between worry, and desperation. She could tell, at that moment he would trade anything, just to get Tommi to release his arm.

" You know Tommi, you can release him now. The spell I placed on you ended a good five minuets ago." Ann stated, smirking.

Tommi was still shivering, but forced herself to pull away form Kurama. Kurama's soft rose scent had made her journey though the portal easier, making her feel safe, but it still didn't settle her fears. She was still scared shitless. Blinking Tommi slowly started to come to her scenes and tried to regain her composer. Realizing she was still clinging to Kurama's arm, she released it abruptly.

"Sorry." She mumbled to Kurama. "H-How did you do that?" Tommi asked Ann after a moment, glaring at her.

"It was nothing big, you should be able to do it too." Ann stated bluntly.

Tommi glared at her sister, but proceeded to try the same trick her sister pulled on her. Little small rocks at Ann's feet began to rise off the grown, but then they all started to explode. Looking and sounding something similar to small fire works. Ann began jumping and hoping around, trying to avoid them.

"H-HEY watch it! I said to pick them up not make them explode. Are you trying to take my legs off? Damn it woman, I knew your aim was bad but this is ridiculous."

Tommi glared at her sister. "Its not my fault, that was what I was trying to do, but all of a sudden they just started to explode, and what did you say about my aim?" Tommi finished out.

"I said it sucked. I mean look at me, you could have took off my legs with those little bombs of yours." Ann growled back at her sister.

Kurama moved over to where Hiei was standing to the side. "Well, we mite as well get comfortable. If this fight is going to be anything like the other one, we will be here for while." Kurama stated to Hiei. Hiei didn't look up at him. "Stupid nigens. We should not be standing here, out in the open. This in Maiki not the human realm, their sibling squabble is only going to attract attention to us." He grunted.

"I agree with you there. But there is not much we can do about it now. They have already started, we mite as well let them finish it out." Kurama stated tacking a seat in the soft grass.

Ann and Tommi where in a full out wrestling match, and by the way it was looking Tommi was losing miserably. Ann was using her and Tommi's hight difference to her advantage.

"Wait, what are you doing? No don't do that! OUCH!" Tommi exclaimed as Ann flipped her over her shoulder, making her hit the grown with a hard thud.

Tommi had been trying to use her trick of popping her arm out of place, but Ann had seen it coming. Ann jumped on Tommi's back pining her down with her knees as she, pulled Tommi's arms behind her back, holding her in place.

"Oh lookey what we got here. It looks like big sis, is all tied up, and has no where to go. I wander what I should do with her now?" Ann snickered into Tommi's ear, grinning mischievously.

"First of all, you can let me up. Second you can go to…" Tommi stopped in mid sentence.

"Go to where?" Asked Ann but then saw what had stopped Tommi from finishing .

To the right of Tommi's head was a large, fuzzy, white, long eared rabbit. It was staring at Tommi with great interest, with it little red/pink eyes.

The rabbit looked between the two sister, wiggling it nose. Ann rolled off Tommi's back and kneeled near the rabbit.

"Aw. Look. It's a cute bunny. Hey there little guy. Can I pet you?" Ann asked as she reached out her hand and started to stroke its head and ears.

Tommi got to her knees and stared worriedly down at the innocent looking animal. "Um Ann. I don't thank you should mess with that. I don't like the way it is looking at us, and where not at home, where in Maiki remember?" Tommi moved to her feet, steeping away from Ann and the rabbit.

"Aw, it's nothing but a harmless rabbit. It won't hurt anyone." Ann stated sweetly, picking up the rabbit in her arm, cuddling it. "See it's all friendly and nice." Ann stared to walk toured Tommi with the rabbit in her arms.

"No, keep that thing away from me! It reminds me too much of, of…Hiei. And those eyes, there just not right." Tommi said moving further away from Ann.

Hiei and Kurama both perked up in attention at the mention of Hiei's name. Kurama saw Ann holding and cradling a semi-small animal. "Hiei I don't like this. I know that thing can not be as innocent as it seems." Kurama stated.

"I agree. Hey woman, drop the rodent." Hiei shouted at Ann.

"I will not, there is nothing wrong with him. See." Ann held out the rabbit slightly.

"You should have listened to your friend, my pray." Ann blinked looking down at the rabbit in shock. "D-Did you just speak?"

"Yes my pray, and I can do much more then just that" The rabbit bit into Ann's arm, then jumped down to the grown, as he was dropped.

Ann was holding her arm, cradling it. "It, it, bit me!" / The little BASTARD! / She exclaimed, glaring down at the rabbit, as it started to hop a little ways away. Stopping, the rabbit turned around, staring at the small group of humans and demons. Slowly it started to transform into a more human like appearance. Standing before them was tall white hair demon. He had long white floppy rabbit ears, and cold, clear red eyes. The demon was smirking at them.

"Gullible humans" It laughed. "I shall enjoy eating you all."

"Not if we kill you first." Hiei growled.

Hiei didn't know why, but the thought of the rabbit demon harming Ann, even if it was just a small bite wound, angered him greatly. He rushed forward, using his demon speed, and drew out his sword, attacking to demon. He wanted this over and over quick.

The battle had begun.

The demon stepped quickly to the side, avoiding Hiei's sword with ease.

"Sorry little guy. You will have to do better then that." The demon laughed evilly.

"Little guy?" Hiei growled and moved in for another attack. He gave several swings of his katana. Only flashes of light could be seen, as he tried to strike the demon down. The demon once again dodged each of Hiei's attack with ease.

The demon laughed again before he heard, "Rose whip." Kurama came at the demon from the other side. The demon quickly jumped into the air, avoiding the whips slashes. Kurama glared up at the demon, as it came back down. Slamming into the ground, the earth began to quake, opening up beneath them. Hiei and Kurama jump back to keep from falling into the large canyons forming at their feet. The demon laughed at their shock and confused expressions. "Like my little trick. I call it the earth quake stomp." The demon smirked proudly.

"Nice. Now try this!" Ann yelled. Large boulders rose form within the canyons. The boulders threw themselves at the demon at top speed but just before they could make impact, as the demon began to dodge, the boulders exploded. The explosions sent the demon flying back a few feet, landing on its back. The demon stood back up, glaring at the girls. "How did you do that?" He growled.

"Easy, it's called teamwork." Tommi growled moving in front of him.

The demon was now surrounded on all sides. Hiei was behind him, Kurama to his right, Tommi in front of him, and Ann on the other side. Hiei and Kurama moved in for another attack. Tommi moved in to join them, but stopped. She looked over at Ann, who wasn't moving, just standing there, still as a statue. "Ann, what is it? What's wrong?"

"I-I don't feel s-so good." Ann stuttered, starting to sway back and forth.

"ANN!" Tommi screamed. Ann began to fall to the ground. Tommi ran over to her sisters side, but Hiei beat her there, grabbing Ann before she could hit the ground.

"Woman, what's wrong?" Hiei growled.

"H-Hiei?" Ann whispered bring up her hand to his face, stroking in gently.

Tommi fell to her knees beside them. "Ann? What's…?" Tommi started to say, but then stopped when she remembered a comment Ann had made earlier.

~Flash Back~

"You should have listened to your friend, my pray." Ann blinked looking down at the rabbit in shock. "D-Did you just speak?"

"Yes my pray, and I can do much more then just that" The rabbit bit into Ann's arm, then jumped down to the ground, as he was dropped.

Ann was holding her arm, cradling it. "It, it, bit me!" / The little BASTARD! / She exclaimed, glaring down at the rabbit.

~End of Flash Back~

"Ann let me see your arm." Tommi ordered, grabbing Ann's arm pulling it to her.

Ann squirmed in pain. Trying to move away, she moved closer to Hiei, hiding her face in his chest. Over a few feet away from them, Kurama was still stuck in battle with the rabbit youki, and having a hard time at it. Every time he used his rose whip, the demon would just dodge, and land back on the ground causing anther earth quake. Pulling out a seed from his hair, Kurama threw it on the ground, forcing it to grow with his ki. He hoped that the plant would slow down the demon long enough for him to strike .

Tommi held tight to Ann's arm examining it closely. She saw two small bite marks on Ann's wrist. It was swollen and the skin around it was discolored. Tommi looked at Ann's face, feeling her forehead. She was sweating profoundly, and her skin was clammy and hot. "Shit. She's been poisoned!" Tommi stated. Ripping off the sleeve from her sweeter, Tommi wrapped it around Ann's arm, using as a tourniquet, in order to slow down the blood flow and the spread of the poison. "Hiei, get her out of here. When you reach a safe spot, keep her as still as possible. That will help slow it down . Now get out of here." Tommi ordered.

Hiei didn't argue, but did as he was told. Picking Ann up bridle style, he speed off. Tommi stood up, clinching her hands into fist.

"As for you, Rabbit." Tommi stated calmly, shaking with fury. The wind around them sped up. Large black clouds began to form above them. Thunder could be heard from a distant, coming closer. Both Kurama and the rabbit youki, stopped what they where doing, and stared at the human girl, with wide eyes. Tommi slowly started to advance on the demon. Her eyes were glowing a bright silver/ blue.

"How dare you harm my family, my TWIN! You will not receive mercy, you will not pass go, you will not collect 200 hundred dollars. You will die here and now. Prepare yourself, you arrogant, stupid, mutated RABBIT!" Tommi spat, rasing her arm high in the air. The youki took a step back, in fear. Kurama moved a way for both the demon and Tommi, making sure his was more then out of the way.

"Lightning Strike!"

Out of nowhere a bolt of lighting, flashed down from the sky. It struck the youki point blank. The youki had no time to react. He fell back, his body charred black. His ashes blew away in the wind, except for a single ball of white fur. It floated by Tommi, making a single jester with her hand the fur turned into dust. "Poof." Tommi whispered coldly.

Kurama looked at Tommi in shock. Looking down at his hand he saw that his once rose whip, was now a charred twig.

Kurama: /My rose? /

Youko: /*Shiver* Shocking. /

Kurama: /My rose! *Whimper, whimper* /

"Is there a problem Kurama?" Tommi asked coldly.

Kurama blinked looking at Tommi and then his twig. Seeing that Tommi's eyes still held a slight glow, he tossed the twig behind him. "No, no. Not at all." He smiled kindly, with a small sweat drop. Kurama looked around quickly. "Um, where is Ann and Hiei?" he asked curiously.

"Hiei took her to safety. She was poisoned by the demon. Do you have any kind of antidote, we can use, when we catch up with them?" Tommi asked Kurama, walking away into direction Hiei had disappeared with her sister.

"Yes. I believe I do. But we must hurry." Kurama stated. He lead the way following Hiei's spirit energy.

~Few miles away ~

Hiei jumped down at the base of a large tree, far enough away from the battle to be safe, but close enough for Kurama and Tommi to find them. He laid Ann down slowly on the ground, then sat down beside her. "Are you still with us human?" Hiei asked.

A small moan of pain came for Ann. "Hn. Well, at least you're still alive." He stated.

"H-Hiei?" Ann's voice was more of a whimper then a whisper. "I'm cold."

Hiei groaned, but removed his cloak, wrapping her up in it. He then pulled her into his lap, holding her close to his chest trying to keep her warm. Hiei didn't know why he felt the need to help Ann, but he could not push away the feeling. Seeing her in pain and discomfort, was putting him in pain as well. He didn't like this feeling.

"If you die on me, woman, I will kill you." He stated into Ann's ear.

Ann snuggled up closer to Hiei, trying to get closer to his warmth. Hiei started to realize how perfectly Ann felt against him. Sure she was a good foot taller then him, when they were standing, but here like this, she seem to bond with him, to mold against him perfectly. It felt almost right having her this close to his body, as if maybe, just maybe, she mite actually belong here…with…him. No. He was the forbidden child, no one was allowed to be with him, especially not a weak human. /That holds the demon soul stone/, his mind answered him. He forced the thought away. He didn't have time to wonder about that now. This human was in danger of dying and if the others didn't arrive soon, this woman would surly die.

"Kurama how much further? We need to get to Ann." Tommi asked following Kurama thought the thick woods of Maiki.

"They are right through here." Kurama said, pulling back a bush revealing Hiei sitting up against a large tree, holding Ann against him. Tommi dashed forward, rushing past Kurama. Getting to her knees, she started to examen her sister. Ann was pale, and covered in sweat. The bite on her arm was red, swelling, and a green ooze was dripping from it. Kurama examined her as well, looking her over carefully.

"Hiei hand her over to me, and go get some water for us to clean out the wound." Kurama stated calmly.

Hiei shifted a little handing Ann over to Kurama, when she began to cling to him. "No. Don't leave me. Please don't leave!" Ann whisper softly, opening her eyes for the first time, staring up at Hiei.

"Woman, I have to go. I am the fastest and they need water to help you." Hiei said plainly to Ann, trying to hand her over to Kurama once again.

"NO!" Ann exclaimed, holding tighter to him. "I won't let you." She buried her face in Hiei's chest, refusing to let go.

"Do you want to die?" Hiei growled.

"No Hiei, its ok. I will get the water. You just try to keep her calm. Her getting up set would only make things worse." Kurama said kindly, getting to his feet. "I will be back soon. Tommi you clean out the wound the best you can for now."

Tommi nodded her head in agreement. "Yes."

Kurama disappeared in to the forest as Tommi started to clean Ann's bite wound. Tommi pulled out a pack of tissues she always carried in her pockets. Removing a few, she licked one, and began to remove the green ooze from Ann's arm and wrist.

"What are you doing?" Hiei asked raising an eyebrow.

"I am have to use my own spit to wet down the napkins, cause we have no water at the moment. Do you have a problem with that?" Tommi asked coldly never looking away from her sister.

"Hn." Hiei grunted, but didn't say anything more.

~20 minuets later~

Tommi cleaned Ann as throughly as she could with what she had. She had used up most of her napkins, but now at lest Ann's face and arms where clean, and most of the green ooze had been removed from the wound. Kurama walked back through the forest, carrying a small container of water. Sitting it down beside Ann, he began to examen her once again.

"Good job at cleaning her and the wound. You got most of the poison already. All I need to do now is wash it out, and give her an antidote." Kurama complimented Tommi.

"Thanks, but save the praise for later. Just help Ann." Tommi stated.

"Yes, of course" Kurama pulled his hair back away from his face. Leaning over Ann, he pored some water into the wound, rinsing it out. Ann squirmed and moaned in pain.

"Its alright Ann. We almost got it clean, just a little longer." Tommi comforted Ann.

"Hurry fox. She doesn't look good." Hiei stated looking worriedly down at Ann, still holding her in his arms.

Kurama ignored them both, concentrating on his task. Cleaning the wound throughly, he pulled out a seed from his hair, and bit into it. "Now this is going to sting Ann, but it will kill all the poison in your body. Just remain still." Kurama said, trying to comfort Ann.

He placed the open seed above the wound and squeezed the antidote into it. Ann hissed in pain burying her face into Hiei's chest. Kurama softly started to massage the medicine into her arm. After a moment he pulled away and grabbed a large leaf. He placed it over the wound and tied it securely to Ann's wrist.

Kurama sat back with a sigh. "Well, there we go. I have done everything I can. The medicine I gave her should destroy the poison left in her body, and the leaf should help heal and keep the wound clean."

"So, she is going to be ok?" Tommi ask, still needing to know that her sister would really be all right.

"Yes she is going to be fine. She just needs to rest now." Kurama answered softly, smiling.

Tommi blinked, then threw herself into Kurama's arms. "Thank you thank you thank you!" Tommi clung to Kurama neck, hugging him tightly. Kurama was shocked, at first, at Tommi's bold action, while Youko was having a field day.

Youko: / We need to figure out what we just did! /

Kurama: / I hate to ask, but... Why? /

Youko: / So we can do it again because she is going to be our mate...right?/

Kurama: / *sweat drop* maybe.. just maybe, a BIG maybe. Now be quite./

Returning to the task at hand, Kurama chuckled softly, returning the embrace. "You are very welcome, but I don't see why you are thanking me. If it wasn't for you and your quick actions, she would not have lived long enough for me to help her. She is only alive because of you." Kurama whispered softly.

"I'm just glad she is ok. That is all that matters." Tommi stated slowly pulling away form Kurama, looking over at her sister. Ann was still cradled in Hiei's lap. Even though her face was soft in sleep, her hands still clenched his shirt, refusing to release him. "Well…I'd say that she is determined to say right were she is. Don't you?" Asked Tommi sarcastically, chuckling.

A small laugh escaped Kurama's throat. "Yes, I would agree."

Hiei looked over at them, his eyes narrowed. "What are you two laughing at?" His voice was just a whisper, but cold never less. He didn't know why he didn't just drop the stupid human and leave, but he couldn't find it in him to do so. So he sat there, with Ann in his lap, clinging to him. It was almost as if she thought that if were she let go, she would die. Hiei had been her life line, her only connection to the living world. He continued to glare at Kurama and Tommi, who where now laughing openly. But not just at Hiei and Ann, but also at the whole situation. The tension had gotten so high and the relief that followed after was so dramatic, that the only thing they could do was laugh. It was the only way to relieve the stress and anxiety.

~Later that Night ~

Tommi tossed her head to the side with a groan. She still laid sleeping near the tree where they had treated Ann. Kurama awake to the soft sound. Setting up, he looked around for the cause of it. At the base of the tree was Hiei, with Ann still curled up beside him. Not far from them was Tommi, curled in on herself. She seemed as if she was in pain. Kurama stood up, walking over to her side. "Tommi?" He whispered softly, kneeling down beside her. Tommi sank more into herself, almost as if she was trying to hide.

"Tommi are you awake?" Kurama laid a kind hand on her shoulder.

Tommi stiffened at the touch, moving away. "No." She whimpered.

Kurama's eyebrows drew together as a frown formed on his face. /She must be dreaming./

Youko: / But of what? /

"Tommi wake up. You're dreaming. You need to wake up now." Kurama spoke softly, but still had a harsh tone. He knew he needed to wake her up.


Tommi mumbled incoherently in her sleep. Her eye where clenched shut, and her body began to tremble. Every now and then Kurama could make out a word, but only one or two, and they where always the same. "No… Please… Stop…don't Mark don't…it hurts…STOP!" Tommi stared to scream in her sleep.

Kurama eye widen.

Youko: / What the…? /

Kurama wrapped his arms around Tommi pulling her to him. He held her arms and legs still. Tommi struggled violently against him, trying to free herself. Kurama would not release her form in fear of her hurting herself.

"Tommi wake up! It's me, Kurama. I am not going to hurt you, wake up!" Kurama started to rock her back and forth, as if she was a crying child.

~Tommi's Dream/Flash back~

"Mark don't, please stop." Tommi was almost in tears. Her boyfriend for the past year, was violently kissing at her neck and shoulders. He held down her arms, holding her against the wall.

"Why baby? You know you like it. Why are you fighting me?" Mark continued to rip at Tommi's shirt, trying to remove it.

"Because I don't want this. Stop it." Tommi voice was shacking. She was trying to hold back her fear. She never imagined that this would happen, that he would try this.

"But you were so willing to other night. Didn't you have fun? I thought you liked what we had done together." Mark's smile began to twist wickedly, making him look evil.

Tommi sucked in a sharp breath. "I said STOP!" She gathered her strength and forced Mark off of her. She glared at him openly, her breathing harsh.

" What the fuck is your problem?" Mark growled. "It's not like it's either of our first times, why are you being such a bitch about this?"

Tommi's hands clung to her shirt, holding it closed. "Because I don't want to. That is all the reason you need, now get OUT!" Tommi pointed to the door leading out of her room. No one other then herself, and Mark were in the house. Her parents and sister had went to dinner, leaving her home alone. Mark had shown up unexpectedly, and things had gotten out of hand. She wanted to tell Mark that she didn't want to sleep with him anymore. That she wasn't ready for that kind of relationship. She had expected him to react negatively to the news, but she didn't expect this.

"You fucking slut!" Mark back handed Tommi across the face, knocking her to the ground "What where you thinking…hm. You thought that you could play with me, that you would just get a free fuck and that would be it. Well sorry little girl, I play for keeps. If you want to play that way, then lets play." Mark pulled his shirt over his head and laid down on top of Tommi forcing her into a harsh kiss. Tommi struggled against him, trying to push him away, but he was too strong. He ripped off her shirt, pants, underwear, everything, Tommi fought against him the whole way, but it was no use. She laid there numb, feeling nothing, as Mark raped her.

~End of Dream/Flash Back~

Tommi awoke with a start. She looked around trying to remember where so was. / A dream. It was all a just a dream…*sigh* ….Damn I hate memories. / Realizing she was being held by someone, she looked up seeing Kurama looking down worriedly at her. "K-Kurama?"

Kurama was still rocking her, when he saw that she had awaken. Kurama remained silent.

"What are you doing?" Tommi asked softly.

"You were crying out in your sleep. I was trying to calm you down." Kurama answered softly.

Tommi's eyes widen. Tuning she pulled away from Kurama, not looking at him. "Sorry." She stated just above a whisper.

"Who is Mark?" Kurama asked.

"No one. Don't worry about it." Tommi answered him.

But Kurama didn't let it drop. He wanted to know what had happen, what did that Mark do to her. "Tommi you know that you can trust me. What happened to you? What did Mark do?" Kurama asked softly.

Tommi still didn't look at him. Tears started to form in her eyes, threatening to fall down. Taking a deep breath Tommi told Kurama her story. He listened quietly, getting angry at everything he heard.

Youko: / The bastard RAPED her! /

Kurama had to use all his strength to keep Youko from breaking out. It would do no good for him to appear now and probably scare Tommi half to death.

Kurama stretched out a hand, pulling her back to him. "Tommi. I am sorry that happened to you. I am so sorry."

Tommi didn't fight him, she let him pull her into his embrace. She hid her face in his chest as the tears began to fall. Kurama rubbed her back softly, comforting her, and letting her cry it out. Kurama's soft rose scent relaxed Tommi, and sent her into a deep dreamless sleep. Kurama watch Tommi slowly drift back off to sleep. Soon after, he followed her.

~Next Morning~

Ann slowly began to awake. Stretching she felt something restraining her. She looked and saw an arm wrapped tightly around her waist.

/ What the fuck?! /
To who it belonged to, she didn't know. Looking over her shoulder, her eyes grow wide. It was Hiei. She shifted, trying to move away form him. His arm tightened around her. "Stop moving." He growled.

"What are you doing?" She asked completely confused.

"Sleeping." Hiei stated bluntly.

"That much is obvious. But it doesn't answer my question. What are you doing with your arm around my waist. What are you doing sleep beside me for that matter?" Ann blurted out angrily. She couldn't remember what had gotten her into this situation. The last thing she remembered was fighting a rabbit demon then passing out.

"Because you would not let him do anything else. Every time he tried to put you down your freaked out. It was quite cute actually." Tommi moved over to Ann's side feeling her forehead. "Well, your fever is gone, that's good. You still seem a little pale but the medicine Kurama gave you seems to have worked."

"What are you talking about? What poison and what do you mean by I wouldn't let HIM go?" Asked Ann.

Hiei moved away from Ann and stood up. "I am leaving." He stated simply and was gone.

Tommi laughed and Ann looked at her wide eyed. " Tommi, what the fuck happened?"

Tommi continued to laugh. "Nothing much. The bite your received from the demon was poisoned, and you pasted out from it. I told Hiei to take you to safety and he did. When me and Kurama found you, you were in his lap. And every time he tried to release you, you freaked. You just practically begged Hiei not to leave you, and you clung to his shirt like it was your life line. Kurama ended up treating you in Hiei's arms and that is where you have been every since." Tommi turned away from her sister sitting down, when she finished.

Ann blinked for a few seconds, tacking a minute to let it all sink in.

Tommi: /…3…2…1…/

Ann's eyes widened. "WHAT?!"
