* Chapter 4 *

Ann stepped out of the swirling vortex of color, Kurama called a portal. Clenching her stomach, Ann felt like she had just rode the coolest roller coaster ever to exist. "I hope I can ride that back home." Ann stated with a happy smile.

"You will have to unless you intend to stay here permanently." Hiei murmured form the corner.

Realizing she wasn't alone, Ann looked around and looked at her surroundings. She was standing in the middle of a large square room, practically empty except for a long desk near the far back wall, covered in papers and files. She saw a slight movement behind the mountain of paper, but couldn't see, who or what was there. She made a small movement to the desk when she heard a loud pop from behind her. She quickly jumped out of the way, landing on the other side of the room, positioned in a fighting stance.

Hiei chuckled mockingly. "Humans are such pathetic creatures. Can't even tell the difference between allies and foes."

Ann was about to respond to Hiei's comment, when her attention was snatched back to the black hole in the middle of the room. Tommi hit the floor with a hard thud, landing on her hands and knees, breathing heavily. Kurama stepped out of the portal calmly, showing no effect form the portals, violent colors and movements. If they didn't know any better they would have thought, he had just tuck a leisurely stroll through a park, instead of a spinning portal.

"What the hell was that? I've seen less colors in a kindergarten class, during drawing hour! You could have warned me that I would be riding a suicidal, murderess, chaotic *pant, pant* RAINBOW, turned Roller coaster! Oh GOD I think I am going to be sick." Tommi ranted.

She continued to pant, trying to clam her racing heart, and emotions. In her state she could feel everyone's emotions, and whom they belonged to. There was someone in front of her, but she didn't recognize their emotional wave length. What was stranger, was that the persons emotion seemed to be a child's wave length, but the mental capacity of an adult.

/How can a person have the emotions of a child and an adult? /

She could also tell that Ann was on the other side of the room half worried but trying to hold back laughter. Hiei was in the corner, stunned into silence, and Kurama at her side, with a slightly, worried expression on his face.

Youko: /What did that portal do to her? /

Kurama: / I believe it has frightened her. /

Youko: / I have figured that much out. *growl* /

Kurama bent over placing an hand on Tommi's shoulder. "Are you alright?" He asked softly.

Tommi's body continued to shake and shiver. She hated anything even half way related to a roller coaster. She had a fear of them since she was little.

"Kurama, just leave her be. She has to work this out for herself." Ann stated.

Kurama looked up at her, then back down at Tommi. "Are you sure?"

"Ya, I'm her sister, I should know." Ann stated.

After a moment Tommi sat back on her knees, her heart slowly returning to it's normal speed. She glared up at Kurama. "This is all your fault, for not having the foresight to warn me about that, that…swirling vortex of DEATH!" Tommi pointed at where the portal used to be.

"Going a little overboard aren't you sis? It's not his fault that you have a fear of roller coaster or anything HALF way related to them." Ann asked. "But at least it's him and not me your ranting at so..." Ann placed one of her hands in her cargo pants pockets, pulling out a large hunting knife. "Here is a knife if you need it. Don't worry it has been well kept and is still sharp, so it should make a clean cut." She smirked.

(A/N Tommi looks like she ready to commit murder, so her sister is giving her a weapon to use. Just thought we would explain that, in case you were confused. ^^;;;)

Tommi and Kurama glared at Ann. "That is not funny, and what the hell are you doing with that thing on you? The last I heard we where coming to meet their boss…Koenma right?" Tommi glanced at Kurama slightly. He nodded his head. She turned back to Ann. "Not a hunting or training trip."

Ann shrugged her shoulders, putting her knife away. "You know me, I come prepared for anything."

"Speaking of which…" Tommi turned to Kurama again. "Where is your boss anyways? There is no one here other then you, I, Ann, Hiei, and some kid behind that desk. What is a kid doing here anyways?

" I am his boss." Koenma said as he pushed some papers out of his way and stood on his desk, glaring at the girls.

"You have got to be kidding me, right?" Ann bellowed.

Tommi stared dumbly at Koenma. "Nice pun." Tommi stated offhandedly, never taking her blinking eyes off of the child in front of her.

Koenma cleared his throat. "This is no joke. I am Koenma, Prince of the Sprit realm, and their boss."

Ann began to chuckle softly before, bursting into a fit of laughter. "Y-Your taking orders f-from him?" Ann laughed to Hiei pointing at Koenma. "He is s-smaller then, then…" Ann couldn't finish her sentence, because she was laughing so hard.

"Stop laughing." Hiei spat at Ann in a dangerous growl.

"Ann, shut up!" Tommi ordered.

"Why? This is hilarious." Ann stated through her laughter.

"One. Because you are being rude. Two. Hiei looks ready to kill. Your strong but I don't think you that strong. And Three. I guess you misted it when Koenma said that he is royalty, but not any royal family, but of the spirit world." Tommi of course said this all in one breath.

Ann chocked, her face darning of all color. "What?!"

" Tommi is right. Koenma runs the Sprit Realm when his father is gone." Goku stated plainly as he walked though the over large door, with Yuusuke and Kuwabara following in behind him.

Ann and Tommi both spun around staring at the sensei for a brief moment, then dashed over to him, both embarrassing him at the same time.

"Sensei what are you doing here?" Tommi asked.

"Your not dead or anything, are you?" Ann asked worried.

"No I am not dead. Koenma just asked me for my help." Answered Goku, lightly patted the girls back comfortingly.

Koenma cleared his throat. " If we are finished with the family reunion, may we please get to down to the reasons you are here?"

Ann and Tommi released their sensei turning to glare at Koenma. "Now the reason that you two are here, is because of you necklace." Koenma stated.

"Ok know tell us something we don't know." Ann stated. Which earned her a smack on the back of the head by Goku.

Ann rubbed the back of her head. "What was that for?"

"Watch your tongue, hatchling. You're a young lady, not a brainless git. Now act like one." Goku stated.

"As I was saying. You're are here, because you would not hand back over the necklace. So as a consequence to that action, you will have to help find the third one."

"What?!" Both Ann and Tommi said together.

"Because of your stubbornness of not handing over the necklaces, and show of loyalty to them, you will not be able to hand them over even if you wanted to. You have proven that you are the rightful owner of the soul stones, and being so, you will never be able to release them. In other words you are stuck with them, and the responsibilities that go along with them, meaning you have to help find the other Soul Stone, and it right full owner."

"And we're supposed to do that, how?" Asked Ann.

"By using your Soul Stone. The are all connected to each other. They are like living beings, they can tell were the others are at all times. They will tell you where you can find their bother." Said Koenma.

"How?" Asked Tommi.

"By using your empathetic powers." Stated Goku.

"Powers?" All the boys echoed.

"Goku-sensei! We thought you told us not to tell anyone about that?" The girls stated together.

Goku ignored the girls, as Koenma continued to explain.

"Yes these girls have empathy powers, with allows them to feel and hear your emotions and thoughts. That is how the knew all your name before you could tell them." Koenma smiled, and continued. " It even multiplies when they are touched by someone new. They can see and feel your past and present experiences. Neat isn't?" Stated Koenma.

"What?!" yelled Kurama and Hiei.

"I am so glad that I never touched them." Yuusuke mumbled.

"Us too!" The girls growled at Yuusuke.

"Yes because you both have touched one of the girls. They both probably know things about you, that you would probably never would have told a living soul." Koenma finished.

Both Hiei and Kurama looked over at the girls, each showing a different expression. Hiei with a scowl on his face, and Kurama with a shocked look. The girls just smiled at them, looking somewhat similar to a proud peacock.

"Do not blame them though. You gave them all your thoughts and feelings willingly, when you touched them. They didn't violate you in any way. If anything you violated them by forcing your emotions on them, but back to what I was going to say." Koenma turned back to the girls. " A long with your empathy powers, you will also use the ones you will gain from the stones themselves."

"But we haven't received any powers from the Stone, have we?" Tommi asked Ann looking up at her.

Ann shrugged her shoulders. "Not that I know of."

Koenma: / Are you sure about that? /

Both of the girls looked around frantically. "Who said that?" Ann exclaimed.

Koenma: / Over here, girls, on the desk. /

Ann and Tommi looked over at Koenma, who gave them both a knowing smile. /See they have given you some new abilities, and that is not where they end. /

"Could someone tell me what is going on?" Yuusuke asked, a little confused. If he didn't know better, he could swear the girls and Koenma were have a conversation, but no one was speaking.

"It would seem that they are talking telepathically?" Kurama stated plainly.

Tommi shook her head trying to clear it, and cut out Koenma's invading voice. "Alright we get the message."

"When are these other…abilities supposed to come about?" Ann asked Koenma.

"That I am not sure of. But they will come with time. We will just have to wait and see." Stated Koenma.

"How is that supposed to help us, even if we do agree to help you find the other Stone." Stated Tommi.

"You will help them, because you have no choice. If you don't you mine as well say that spirit world is doomed, and expect to be left in limbo when you die. Cause with out spirit world there will be nowhere for people to go other then limbo." Goku stated plainly.

"You know you could have warned us about all this." Tommi stated to Goku, getting a little bit angry at the whole situation.

"True I could have, but you would not have token the stone if I had." Stated Goku.

"And I thought you gave it to us out of love. That will make me remember never to take anything at face value again. Not even by a person I trust." Stated Ann, rubbing her forehead.

"OK…How about you tell us how we are supposed to find the other Stone. Can you at least do that?" Asked Tommi, a little irritated, but trying to keep her temper under wraps.

"Simple just hold your medallions in your hands and relax. The stones should do the rest. Now remember it my be a little uncomfortable at first, but you will get use to it. Just let the visions come, and don't fight them." Stated Koenma calmly, folding his hands behind his back.

Ann and Tommi exchanged glances, and swallowed hard. Following Koenma's instructions, they both grabbed their necklaces, and braced for what would come next. Small glows of light began to emerged from each Stone, the girls held. A soft violet light surrounded Ann's hand, and spread up her arm and down her body, enveloping her in the light. Ann clenched her teeth, silencing her moan of discomfort. The visions that where flowing across her mind were so massive that she had to force herself to stay conscious.

In Tommi's hand, her medallion was giving off a silver blue glint, which it to crawled up her hand, arms, and body. But, unlike her sister, she could not hold back her sounds of discomfort. She once again fell to one knee in pain throwing her head back, groaning in pain.

Kurama made a move toward her, but was stopped by Koenma. "No. Don't. If you touch her now you will be disintegrated."

"Then stop this now. You're killing them." Kurama demanded.

"If you don't stop this, then I will." Hiei added.

" I won't. Even if I could, the pain and discomfort is necessary for them to completely control the Stone, and use them to find the other." Koenma explained.

"But you said, that they would be told where the other stone was, not that they would be combining with them. Old man are you not going to try and stop this? He is killing you students." Yuusuke demanded.

"No I am not. It is necessary to their survival to surpass through this." Goku stated calmly.

"Survival? Look at them, they look like this are being tortured to death. You never even gave them a choice in the matter. How can you do this do them? Where is your honour?" Kuwabara argued.

"Shut your mouth. Do not speak of things you don't yet understand. If there was any other way, do you not think I would use it? They are my apprentices, and I also see them as my own flesh and blood. But it is necessary for them to combine with the Stones, if not the stones will slowly suck their life force form them, and eventually kill them. They will either command domination over the stones, or become part of it. The choice is theirs, they just have to make the decision. To live or to die, no one else can make that choice for them." Goku took a deep breath as he finished his statement.

A sound between a growl and roar, escaped from both of the girls. Tommi briefly opened her eyes, blinking in pain, as tears rolled down here face. Her eyes along with her sister held no color other then the one that encased their bodies. "N-NO…ah…" *pant, pant* Tommi slowly started to pull herself from the ground, on to her feet.

Ann growled, her legs shivered seemingly trying to give out on her. "Fuck this…Your mine, relinquish!" Ann abruptly released the stone from her hand, and let it fall to her chest. Her breathing was harsh and rash. Her eyes still held the violet glow from the stone. Gaining control of herself once more her eyes slowly began to return back to their hazel green. The violet light seeped into her body signalling that she had claimed dominance over the Demon Soul stone, and won. She was now, the only true master over the stone. No other would ever lay came to it, and serve.

Tommi let out one more sound of discomfort, but managed to relish her hold on the medallion, letting is fall to her chest. Tears still streaming down her face she glared in front of her, staring at an unknown presence. "As the sun should rise and fall, you should bend to me…relinquish!" The blue light form the Human Soul stone, exploded outward, but then just as suddenly seeped back into Tommi's body. Closing her eyes with pleasure and satisfaction she purred in contentment. Tommi was now the only true barer of the Human Soul stone. Like her sister no other would ever lay claim to the stone, she would be its only one true master.

"Why do I get the feeling that someone, didn't tell us something?" Tommi asked looking around, a little unnerved and confused.

"It may be because they didn't." Ann stated glaring at Koenma.

"Thought so…OK, I am only going to ask this once and I expect you to answer with the truth…" Tommi flashed angry eyes at Koenma that which gave off a slight blue glow. "What the hell just happened here?! I feel like was ran over by a 18 wheeler, several times over!"

Koenma swallowed hard, but forced himself to stay where he ways, which happened to be under the angry gaze of two very pissed, and now very powerful human females.

Koenma: / Perhaps I should have warned them about that…/

Yuusuke: / And I thought that Keiko was scary when she was pissed. /

Kuwabara: / … /

Youko: / Nice…I have made my decision that one. /

Kurama: / NANI? / The statement confused Kurama.

Youko: / I chose the elder sister. You should claim her as our mate. /

Kurama: /I have no interest in taking a mate, Youko. The last one we chose did not turn out the way we played it. I have enough on my plate; I do not need to add to it. /

Youko: / I did not chose the last one, you did. Do not blame me for that one. I warned you that she would not be loyal. But this one will be, I can tell, and if not at lest we can have a little fun with her, and we can finally get some more action. /

Kurama was now officially losing his temper with his counter part. / We may not be virgins Youko, but I am no male slut. If and when "I" do decide to take another mate, it will be on "my" terms not yours! /

Youko: / Not unless I take over. I want her as my mate Shuuichi, and I will have her one way or another. *Growl* /

Kurama: / Don't even think about it Youko! /

Youko: / Then do as I say. *glares, slightly baring teeth* /

Hiei: / *Chuckles* I would not have guessed that you would want such a weak mate, Youko. Why choose the elder when the younger is so obviously the stronger of the two. /

Kurama: / *blink, blink* Hiei are you saying that you are interested in mating with Ann? /

Hiei: / No. I will never bring myself down to such a level, but I will not deny that she would make a fine mate…for a human. /

"We're waiting!" Ann exclaimed as she crossed her arms and taped her foot impatiently.

No one had spoken for several moments after Tommi had asked her question. They all stood there in silently waiting for Koenma to answer.

Clearing his thought, he took a deep breath. " You see girls. If was necessary for you to be tested by the stones, for you to be able to use them properly."

"Why didn't you warn us about it?" Tommi asked angrily.

"You could have given us clues, instead of letting us go in head first, and almost getting KILLED!" Ann exclaimed, taking a step toward Koenma, with the look of death in her eyes

Goku put a restraining hand on Ann's shoulder, and stated.

"If he would have warned you, you would have failed the test. You know as well as I do. When you know what you are about to face, you will either over estimate yourself, or under estimate your opponent. This was the best way to help you."

Both girls looked down at him, a little taken aback. "We do not!" Tommi blurted out, losing hold on her temper.

"Whatever." Ann snapped, rolling her eyes.

"Yes you do, now what did you see, while the Stones where testing you?" Goku asked.

"What?" Asked Tommi, a little confused by the change of subject.

"What did you see, when you were connected with the Human stone?" Goku asked again, ever slowly as if talking a child.

"Well…um…I am not sure. Um…" Tommi stated trying to remember, looking over at Ann.

"Well, all I saw was a pink sky and big ass forest. There was a lot of movement, and change of direction. If almost seemed as if I was seeing everything for the stone's point of view. It was exchanged between a large number of hands and places. Then everything faded away. Next thing I knew I was standing here screaming…relinquish? I think." Ann stated as she looked down at Goku then over at Koenma, looking for some kind of conferment.

"Well then we will start there." Koenma turned to Kurama and Hiei." You two will join them on their trip to the Makai. Your only job it to protect them and the stones, till they find the third.

Youko: / *grin* Perfect. You will get more then enough time to seduce Tomasina there. /

Kurama: / Shut up. We do not have time for you hentai thoughts or motives. /

Kurama nodded his head in agreement to Koenma.

Hiei huffed. "Hn…babysitting, again." He stated.

"Perhaps so Hiei. But remember if you let anything happen to Ann or her stone, your demon world will disappear along with it. That would mean that you would either disappear with your world or have to stay in the Human realm, for the rest of your long…demon…life." Koenma stated coldly. "So for your own will being…if you can call it that…so you best protect them with your life, especially Ann." He finished.

Hiei glared at Koenma then at Ann, but said nothing, knowing the toddler was right. For the sake of his happiness and well being, he had best do as Koenma asks, but it didn't mean he had to like it.

"Well I guess there is no reason for me to stay here any longer. Fox boy and Shorty seems to have everything under control…" Yuusuke stated.

"On the contrary, Yuusuke. You will need to up your patrol of the Human realm while they are gone. As soon as other demons learn of our situation, they will surly try to take advantage of it. So you and Kuwabara will be on double duty until they find the Sprit Soul stone." Koenma informed him.

"Oh man this sucks" Yuusuke whined slumping his shoulders.

"What a minute here, we have yet to agree on this." Tommi exclaimed. "I don't know about Ann but I have no interest in taking a stroll through Makai."

"Me either. I may have the Demon Soul stone but I sure as hell don't want to visit." Ann added.

"Well as I see it, you have no CHOICE. Until your sister remembers what she saw that is our only clue and starting point. Koenma answered.

"Tell me you remember something, PLEASE tell something…ANYTHING!" Ann whined halfway begging.

"Nope not a thing." Tommi stated almost sobbing.

Ann and Tommi turned to Goku, then latched on to his arms and legs, begging and pleading, with big puppy dogs eye full of tears.

"Please don't make us go. We will do anything. Just ask and it will be done. Please don't make us go. Don't leave us in the hands of those demons…you don't know what they will do when the have us alone. They may eat us, if not them, then surely to other demons on Makai will." Tommi continued to rant, incoherently.

"I don't want to go to Makai. I may have their stone, but I don't want go there. They can have it back for all I care, just don't make me go. I don't want go with them. I have already been threatened by one of them, and I am afraid he will carry out his threat, when I am on his turf…*looking over at Hiei* …I'm sure he will carry out his threat." Ann whimpered, holding on to his arm for dear life.

"STOP THIS AT ONCE! This not how I taught you to act." Goku demanded.

Ann and Tommi jumped to there feet at attention. "Yes sir." The both stated.

"Good now listen up. You will, and I do mean you WILL go to Makai, and you will search for the third jewel. Now stop your whining and babbling, and get going. Don't worry about your parents, I will take care of that myself." Goku ordered the girls, then turned to the two demons, and said. " If one hair is out of place on them, when they return, your lives are the forfeit." He spun on his heel and walked out the office, leaving everyone speechless. He stopped at the door turning back to the demon. "Do I make myself clear."

Youko: / Crystal…*his voice a little to high* /

"Yes sir." Kurama stated.

An Hn was heard for the corner Hiei was in. "Good." Goku then left, without anther word.

Koenma was the first one to come out of his state of shock. "…Ok…you have your orders. Kurama opened portal to Makai, and get going."

Both girls stood there with slumped shoulders. "Well I guess we should got this over with." Ann mumbled as she followed the two demons to the portal. Tommi stood still not moving.

"I am not riding that thing again." Her voice quivered slightly.

"Do it or die." Hiei answered her.

"One. Don't threaten my sister. Two. She is coming with us, she just don't know it yet." Ann stated.

"No I am not. I will not step one foot, in the death trap." Tommi declared.

"You don't have too." As Ann crooked her finger.

Tommi began to rise off the ground, and floated toward Ann, who was walking into the portal.

"NO!!!!!!! Put me down. Stop it. Put me down" Tommi screamed, fighting against Ann's hold on her.

Kurama walked up beside her, taking her hand. "Don't worry I'm here. Everything will be fine. Just close your eyes, and it will be over before you know it." He said kindly, comforting her. Hiei was the last to walk through the portal, and it closeted behind him.
