Chapter: 6
=================================================
Thanks to Kurama for thinking ahead they had arrived with plenty of time to spare and snagged them an empty compartment all to themselves. Eikichi and Akuma were in their carriers' beneath the seats and Kaitou was in his cage, which was hanging above Kurama's head. Tsuki was sitting on Hiei's shoulder, though only noticeable by the indents in Hiei's clothes where Tsuki was holding on. It was decided the least attention they got the better and a dragon would defiantly be noticed.
“When do we leave? We've been sitting here forever!” complained Yusuke. An agreeing growl was heard from Akuma, who had been promised to be let-out when the train started as long as she behaved.
“We should be leaving soon now,” Kurama said as soothingly as he could for himself and for Yusuke, he couldn't count how many times Yusuke had asked that same question over the last thirty minutes.
For awhile now they could make out the sounds of a decent size crowd gathering outside their windows of parents seeing their children off and friends waiting for the last members of their group before boarding the train. There was almost the constant sound of people walking by their compartment, and every now and then a few would stop to look in, see it was full, and leave.
Kurama turn his sharp emerald green eyes to the door; someone had stopped in front of it on the other side. There was a soft knock and then the door opened just enough for them to see a golden haired girl with dark blue eyes. She was fair skinned with high check bones, an oval shaped face, and slightly pointed ears. All in all she gave the impression of being half elf.
“Would you mind if I sit in here, I got here a little late and there are no more sits left,” a sheepish grin crossed her face giving her the perfect look of innocents.
Hiei just looked away bored and Yusuke frowned. Kuwabara on the other hand broke into a big smile, “You can sit next to me!” He scouted over cramming Yusuke into the wall, which just added to his already bad mood.
“Umh, thanks,” she replied and gave him a weak smile before sitting down. Yusuke looked like he could kill, and was about to when he saw Kurama's pointed look. So instead he settled for a few choice words in Japan amid at Kuwabara and a few at the new girl, who was looking totally confused.
Kuwabara said something back with a big grin on his face and looked quit triumphant until Yusuke's fist collided with his head. Then he promptly lost conciseness and fell over on the girl who freaked considering Kuwabara was almost twist her size. Thankfully Yusuke took pity on her and shoved him on the floor giving them both much more room.
Kurama on the other hand was completely lost in thought. First, their compartment was close to the front, and for her to know that there were no more seats open she would have to walk all the way to the back of the train and then back to the front checking every seat in between. Second, Kurama would have remembered her from one as the ones that were looking for empty seats, and he hadn't seen her before. Finally, she said she got here late, if she got here late then she would never have had enough time to go checking seats all the way from the front to the back and then hurry to the front. Why didn't she just take one of the full seats in the back of the bus instead of heading all the way to the front because technology their compartment was full, the seats only being meant for two people to seat comfortably?
There's something about her, Kurama thought as he watched how she moved.
Suddenly dark blue eyes turned to meat his gaze with an intensity he hadn't expected. Such dark blue orbs, as he stared into them he felt like he was falling slowly into a chasm of water. He felt a strange power wrap around him, his mind, his soul. He could see her in one part of his mind, where he was just staring at her and her staring back, but that seemed far off and distant like he was looking at it through a crystal ball. He couldn't see her in the other part of his mind because a veil had been cast over her like a black cloak.
Then just as suddenly as it had all happened he felt like he was slammed back into his body and the power was gone. She was now looking at him with a strange questioning look as if to say, why the hell have you been staring at me and all he could do was try to calm his racing heart.
He was bodily and spiritually tired like after a very intense training session with Hiei or Yusuke, or both. What had just happened? Did she know she had done it, or was it even her? And why was he so tired, he hadn't felt like he was using a lot of power or any for that matter.
He was suddenly brought back to reality again by her voice.
“I'm sorry I never got your names, mine's Amber Prye,” she said and smiled at him kindly, waiting.
“Shuichi Minamino, but call me Kurama, and this is Hiei,” Kurama replied including Hiei's name, knowing that the little fire demon wouldn't answer the question.
“Yusuke Urameshi number one punk at ---,”he broke off suddenly remembering they were `wizards'. “Umh, at my only school.”
“And him?” she asked like she hadn't noticed the pause and poked Kuwabara with her big toe.
“Kazuma Kuwabara at your service,” Kuwabara said popping up and taking her hand and lightly kissing it. She giggled a little and Yusuke just rolled his eyes making a puking motion behind Kuwabara's back.
“So what year are you four in? I don't think I've seen you before.”
“We're exchange students, our old school shut down, so we were sent here,” Kurama replied. From reading the Daily Prophet he had learned that some schools were closing because of the threat of Voldemort.
“Oh, well I'm in my sixth year as well, I'd be glade to show you around if you'd like?”
“How hard could it be?” asked Yusuke with a frown.
“Well, with changing stair cases, rooms that seem to shift places, and more secret passage ways than normal passage ways I guess it's not to hard. As long as you know which rooms to avoid and to watch out for the ghost, especially Peeves and the Bloody Baron. And that's only the castle, not to mention the Forbidden Forest, and even some of the people in Hogwarts can be scary,” Amber replied with one of her smiles.
“Okay I get your point,” Yusuke grumbled.
“That's his way of saying we'd love your help,” Kurama replied with a smile of his own. Two could play at this game. Maybe it wasn't her and maybe it was, either way it seemed like a good idea for them to have her on their side. How did that saying go, keep your friends close, but your enemies closer?
Suddenly there was a loud whistle, the grinding of metal on metal, and the train lurched forward, they were off! Looking out the window Yusuke watched as the platform disappeared along with the mass waving parents.
“Finally!” Yusuke exclaimed and reached under his seat to undo the latch on Akuma's cage like promised. She walked out with her head high and her tail twitching like she couldn't believe someone had dared to put her in a cage, and jumped up into Yusuke's lap to glare at Kurama.
“What a cute kitten,” Akuma turned her electric blue eyes on Amber and growled.
“Don't let her looks fool you, she's a devil like her name says,” Kuwabara added and scooted closer to Amber, away from Akuma who was now glaring at him. Kuwabara was still sitting on the floor and was surprisingly pretty comfortable.
“I know, she's a She Devil, cousins to black panthers, but smaller in size and magical. They got their name She Devil because the first person to catch one said they had a temper like a mad woman.”
“Yeah the shop keeper said something like that,” Yusuke added with a shrugged. Kurama looked up from pulling out his book surprised at how much she knew.
“So you know a lot about animals?” Kuwabara asked bring Amber's attention back to him.
“No I was just looking threw one of my books last year and saw a picture and thought it looked cute so I read the page about it. I like cats, but my mom want let me get one, she says an owl is more useful,” Amber replied with a sigh.
Kuwabara reached down and pulled out a sleeping Eikichi, “This is my cat Eikichi, she's much nicer than Yusuke's.”
Amber scratched Eikichi behind the ears making her purr in content, and Eikichi curled up in Amber's lap and promptly fell back asleep as Amber petted her. Kuwabara smiled and reached over to give Eikichi a scratch behind the ears as well.
Akuma on the other hand had been watching all the attention Eikichi was getting started to growl her glare now directed at Eikichi.
“You'd get petted more if you didn't try to take off everyone's fingers,” Yusuke chide his cat. Akuma looked at him with big, loving, kitten, eyes causing Yusuke to laugh, and taking pity on her he scratched her behind the ears.
“Who does the raven belong too?” Amber asked looking at the sleeping black bird.
“That is Kaitou, he is Kurama's,” Kuwabara replied. Said red-head was already back in his book not paying any attention to the others.
“He's pretty, a true blue-black.”
Kuwabara frowned, “A pain in the butt if you ask me.”
“Most ravens are,” Amber laughed.
That's basically how the ride went; with Kuwabara and Amber talking with Yusuke until he fell asleep, Kurama reading, and Hiei looking out the window ignoring all attempts of the other two to talk. Soon the trolley came by and Yusuke popped awake at the smell of food.
“Would you like anything off the trolley?” the lady asked.
“A box of every flavored beans,” Amber spoke up holding up three copper pieces. The lady took the coins and handed her a decorative box.
Yusuke looked at the box and then at the other weird candies on the trolley. He picked up a small box that looked interesting, and Kuwabara asked for the same thing that Amber did, then both boys looked at Kurama.
Kurama just sighed and asked how much, he then produced the right number of coins and handed them to the lady. Thanking them for their business she continued on her way down the hall.
“What is this?” Yusuke asked trying to open his box. Taking it from him Amber showed him the little latch to open it.
“It's a chocolate frog, be careful with it,” she added a little too late as Yusuke opened the box and the fog jumped right onto his face. Akuma, who was by nature very protective of her master, snarled in anger and launched herself at the frog, which was still on Yusuke's face. Yusuke yelled out in pain as sharp cat claws cut into his face, and leap up trying to get Akuma off.
He finally pulled Akuma off leaving deep cat claws on his check, and in her mouth was the chocolate frog. She dropped it and happily licked his noise as if to say, `I saved you from that horrible monster!'. Yusuke sighed and tried to wipe the blood off his check.
The door suddenly opened and in it stood a pale skinned boy with light blond hair slicked by like Yusuke's. On either side of this boy were two big brutes like bodyguards. Yusuke was quit a sight with a now spitting mad cat in his hands trying to get at the intruders and blood running down his face from the many cuts he had received just minutes before. The boy just raised an eyebrow at him and grinned.
“So this is where you were hiding.”
“Leave us alone Malfoy,” Amber said in a hard voice.
“Come on I just wanted to see the new exchange students like everyone else,” the boy now known as Malfoy grinned. Akuma started to growl louder, and Eikichi cracked an eye open, but mainly because Amber had stopped petting her.
“I'm glade we're so popular,” Yusuke said with a grin to match Malfoy's.
Malfoy glared at him before putting on a slippery smile, “Look at my manners, Draco Malfoy, I'm sure you've heard of my family.”
“Sorry, never heard of you or your family,” Yusuke replied with a bored look.
Malfoy sneered, “You will.”
With that he left, one of his goons slamming the door shut behind him.
“Don't let Malfoy get to you, he's always like that,” Amber said with a light smile.
“To late, he already has,” Yusuke growled back cracking his knuckles.

AN: Okay first to clear anything up, I do have a purpose for my OC, and no she is not a self-insert type thing. As it stands I do not plain to pair her with any of the gang, or I would have said so in my summary. If later on it would make things more interesting in the plot I might and I'll also change the summary so you guys will know. So review and tell me what you think of my OC. Sayonara!
(Update) AN: Yes I am slowly working on the next chapter, and be prepared for some surprises *grin*
