Tama: GUYS! IT'S A FRICKIN MIRACLE!

Nori: …what's a frickin miracle?

Tama: I started a story all by myself! With absolutely no help whatsoever! Yay for me!

Nori: Um, you're not that special. I do it all the time.

Tama: Well, I'm not that cool. My stories take time.

Nori: …so you finally admit it? I'm cooler than you?

Tama: Pssh, bitch please.

Nori: …Don't make me call another sharp and pointy objects fight.

Hiei: Nori, don't even think about it.

Nori: *whimpers*

Tama: *giggles*

Nori: *glares at Tama* OH YEA! TAKE THIS BITCH! *throws a random purple polka dotted Chihuahua at Tama*

Tama: EEK! *barely dodges and retaliates with a rapid polar bear*

Nori: *runs around in circles, screaming, trying to escape from the rabid polar bear*

Tama: *very pleased with herself* Kurama, will you do the disclaimer?

Kurama: *sighs* Tama doesn't own YYH or it's characters, but she does own the OCS.

Run.

That was the only thought on her mind.

Run.

She had to get a way. Her life depended on it. Even though she could fell her legs beginning to give out from beneath her, she knew she had to keep going. They were right on her tail, she was sure of it. Normally, she wouldn't be afraid of anyone pursuing her. She could defend herself well. But today was different. And she wasn't sure why.

The fatigue continued to set into her legs, and she knew that she was going to have to stop soon. Her legs just couldn't take it anymore.

She noticed that she was coming up on a clearing, and she could hear running water. That sounded like music to her ears. She slowed down and plopped down next to a beautiful spring and water fall that she never knew existed. She took off her socks and sneakers and threw them behind her. Slowly, she lowered her feet into the water, still trying to catch her breath. She took her long, dark brown hair down from her ponytail and shook it, all the while thinking about her next move.

That was when she heard them.

Footsteps.

Headed straight for her.

They were a good hundred yards away, but that was too close for her liking. She quietly got up and took refuge in a nearby cave. She was done running. They would always catch her if she did. This time she would hide, and just wait for them to pass. If she stayed hidden and silent enough, they would never know she was there.

As they slowly approached, the fear began to set in. She had no idea what these people wanted with her. She'd never seen them before in her life. She had never wronged them, that she knew of. What did they want?

At that moment, it didn't matter. Because it was then that she realized she had forgotten one crucial thing.

Her shoes.

That was sure to give her away. But there was nothing she could do. They were way too close now. All she could do was wait.

They were talking now, no doubt about the shoes. But she couldn't understand a word they were saying. It had to be another language, but she couldn't pinpoint which one. It didn't matter. She understood well enough that they were saying one thing: Cave.

“Damnit,” she silently cursed herself. That was it. Before she knew it, both her arms were being held behind her back as she tried to kick herself free, but to no avail. She screamed and when one of them tried to cover her mouth, she bit him hard. He yelped and smacked her across the face, drawing blood that dripped into her mouth. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw him remove a blade from his belt. She knew that this was it, and she hated the fact that it was ending this way. She recalled all of the important events in her young life, all the friends that she held dear, and everyone and everything important to her. All she could do was wait for death.

“Rose Whip!” she heard from somewhere behind her. Her first thought was that maybe another of their friends had caught up to them, which didn't faze her. She knew she was going to die, anyway. But she realized that one pair of hands had left her and she had only one captor now. This guy must be trying to save her, whoever he was.

She also realized that if she was going to get away, the time was now. She kicked and bit and pinched and punched, anything she could think of. Finally, with a swift kick to the “family jewels”, she managed to break away. And ran as fast as she could. She was almost to the edge of the clearing when she felt a sharp, searing pain in her shoulder. She fell to her knees. The screams of one of her captors were the last thing she heard before she blacked out.

It was the smell of smoke that finally woke her up. She sat up straight, only to be painfully reminded of the wound in her shoulder.

“Nice move, genius,” she scolded herself sarcastically. She noticed that her shoulder was wrapped, and that she was in the cave that she was trying to hide in before. Slowly, she got up and made her way to the entrance of the cave.

She wandered over to the edge of the spring and stood there, staring at the waterfall. The birds were chirping and the sun was still low, so her guess was that it was early in the morning, just after sunrise. She laughed at this thought, because whenever she had a say in it, she never got up until almost noon. But she reasoned that this was different.

“I see you've finally come to,” a voice came from behind her. “That's good. Much longer and I would've had to attempt to wake you myself.”

She spun around and was faced with a pair of bright emerald eyes. She stepped back, alarmed, ready to run. He grabbed her arm, preventing any attempt to flee.

“Wait, no. I'm not going to hurt you. I came in when you were being attacked and tried to help you out a little. I have no desire to harm you, I promise,” he said gently, flashing her a small smile. She stared at him, not sure whether to believe him or not. Sensing her indecision, he added a small, “Please.” Still unsure, she hesitated. But something inside her told her that this guy deserved a chance. Reluctantly, she gave in and yanked her arm away. He smiled.

“Good. Well, first, I think a proper introduction is in order. My name's Kurama,” he said and extended his hand.

“I'm Kita,” she said and shook his hand. Now that she had a chance to study him more, she realized that he wasn't that bad looking. Hell, he was downright hott. His long, red hair was very unique. She had never seen anything like it. Even through his clothes, she could tell that he was well built. He was tall, a good half a foot taller than her at least, and pretty damn handsome. It shouldn't have, but this fact made her let her guard up just a little bit.

“Well, Kita, it's nice to meet you,” he replied with a slight smirk. “If you're ok to travel, a friend of mine owns a temple not too far from here. I'd like you to meet her. She can heal up that wound in your shoulder better than I can at the moment. So, what do you say?” He had a look of complete innocence. He didn't seem to be up to anything. Kita nodded her head.

“Good. Let's get going, shall we?” He turned around and began to walk away, then abruptly turned back. “Oh yea, you might want these.” He tossed her her shoes.

“Oh, yea, thanks,” Kita replied as she caught them and put them on.

“Alright, then. Let's go.”

Tama: Yaaaaaaaay!

Nori: Done, finally.

Tama: Oh please, it wasn't that bad. I've done worse.

Nori: Dude, I was kidding.

Tama: Whatever, yo. Read and Review please!

Hiei: And no flames! *glares at readers* Or else!
