Chapter 1: A New Mission

Many years has passed since Karazan dropped Rinka to the Makai grounds. Many years meaning more than 200 years. She had survived and knew she was a princess. It was the last thing Rinka wanted to be. She lived in the blood-wood forest. It was called the blood-wood forest because the tree's bark was a bloody red to match with ruby red leaves. It was always dark because the trees were so tall and had many leaves. This place is also inhabited by many demons that are evil and kill for a hobby.

Rinka was taking a stroll through the forest when she felt a strange aura… a strange energy as she was passed by blood meadow. Blood meadow is where demons have brutal fights every Saturday and Sunday. So many death matches are held there, the grass is stained in blood. As Rinka walked toward the meadow, the energy got more powerful. When Rinka got there, there wasn't a single soul around the meadow. Or was there?

This is rather strange. It's Saturday night and there's no fight, no demons… at least the ones usually here. This surge of energy is very powerful… I've never felt anything like it… I wonder… Rinka thought.

Rinka started to walk cautiously across the field. She had drawn her katana. You never know. The wind blew gently and the leaves of the blood-woods surrounding the meadow. Suddenly Rinka heard something west of her. Rinka briskly turned around and saw one of the five demons of darkness. This ones name was Scyther.

He was the fifth demon of the five Demons of Darkness. These 5 demons are immortal creatures, which are made of pure evil. They are the most feared and the most powerful demons of the Makai. It was said that 900 years ago it took an entire army of the best fighters just to be able to kill one. It was said that all five demons were killed. But back then they must have not known that they are immortal.

Scyther was looked like an 8 foot human with four bright amber eyes and disgusting green skin. It seemed that Scyther's skin was a booger, covered in moles. He had red pants and blue shirt on.

"Soooooo, you're the famous Rinka, the last female fire apparition and spirit demon. Once I get your soul, not only will I be even more famous, but all-powerful. I will take control all of the Makai, the Ningenkai, and Reikai! It's so sad that such a beautiful girl has to go. Let me pretend I care. Ok, I'm done. Now prepare to die," Scyther spoke in a smooth, but rather ugly voice as he stared at Rinka, waiting for her last words.

"Aren't you supposed to be dead? Along with your other hideous comrades." Rinka looked puzzled. Rinka blinked once with her pitch black eyes, and brushed her long chocolate brown hair out of her eyes. Rinka was wearing black pants and a black sleeveless shirt. Basically, she was wearing black. The tear gem her mother gave her was pierced into the girl's right ear. The beautiful fire shone brightly in the dark.

Scyther noticed Rinka's sword.

"Getting ready to fight are we? Wouldn't it just be easier to give up and let me take your soul?" Scyther laughed.

"I wouldn't be talking if I were you. I'm not the one bleeding."

Scyther looked down. His chest was cut open and the blood was dripping down to splash on the ground.

"How did you… damn you, you're gonna pay for that!" Scyther growled, narrowing his yellow eyes. Then he did some strange movements with his hands (if you could call those things hands) and used some youki.

"How? It's not like I have any money," Rinka laughed at Scyther.

"You shouldn't be laughing. Because I just killed everyone you ever knew. Including you little friend, Shizie." Scyther smiled crookedly. Rinka stood in shock. She looked strait into his eyes; her own filled with anger. Scyther wasn't lying.

Shizie was the only thing Rinka ever cared about. She was a 100-year-old ice apparition. It's hard to describe what she looked like since Shizie was always wrapped up in light blue cloths too big for her, and the cloak she used, as a mask was huge, so her entire body and face was covered. The only thing that could be seen is the light green hair, which was shoulder length, and matching sea green eyes. She was the sweetest girl ever, and the only thing Rinka cared about.

"Here let me bring her body to you." Scyther disappeared and reappeared with Shizie's body. Shizie was dead.

"I hope you like this demonstration of what I will do to you." Scyther put his hand on Shizie's face. Rinka still couldn't see Shizie's face because it was too dark and the cloth that worked as a mask was in the way. Rinka watched in horror as Scyther sucked Shizie's soul right out of her and ate it. Rinka was speechless and paralyzed in terror.

"You really are soulless. So instead of getting your own, you eat other souls, destroying those people too. You have a black heart. No, you have no heart." Rinka stared at Scyther.

"How touching. This little display was just to get you to grow stronger and angrier. As if your life couldn't get worse. You're strong now. But you will get stronger. I believe when your strongest is when I'll come after you… that way when I kill your soul, I will rule the Reikai, Makai, and the Ningenkai, and the Meikai. Yes even the Meikai." After Scyther gave his speech he laughed insanely and stabbed Rinka in the arm. Rinka just stood there looking at Shizie. Then when she felt the pain in her arm, she pulled out the knife Scyther stabbed her with. It was a dark cerulean color covered in her life's blood, the handle was dark red. She looked at Scyther. He laughed once more and disappeared. His laugh echoed in Rinka's mind over and over again.

Rinka walked up to Shizie. Once Scyther had drained and killed and absorbed Shizie's soul, her body rotted away into the dirt. The princess stood there staring at the cloth that was left of Shizie. She noticed a tear gem in one of the pockets with a note:

Dear Rinka,

Happy Birthday! Here is the first tear gem I ever cried of happiness.

Love,

Shizie

Rinka picked up the gem, and clutched it in her hand. The gem was attached to a string making it into a necklace. Shizie's tear gem was white with a tint of green. Not the normal tear gem ice maidens cry. Usually, a tear gem would be white with a tin of blue. Not Shizie's tear gems. Rinka took the necklace out of Shizie's pocket and put it in her pocket. Rinka felt the black tear gem her mother, a fire demon like Rinka, cried and gave to her when Rinka was a baby.

Why do they all have to go? At least one of their souls is out there, my mom's. At least, her soul moved on. But Shizie is gone. For good… Rinka kept staring at the ground as she thought. Then suddenly she looked up at the starry sky. Pitch black with stars, which looked like a bunch of shining dots all over. Rinka stared into space and narrowed her eyes. Suddenly a flame of anger surged through Rinka's body.

"I SWEAR I'LL KILL ALL FIVE OF YOU, EVEN IF IT'S THE LAST THING I DO!!!" Rinka yelled into the sky.

Four years have passed and Rinka still hasn't forgotten what Scyther did to Shizie. She had decided to train in the Ningenkai. There were too many demons trying to kill her and waste her time. So Rinka went to the human world, to train.

"Man, that was a handful, Koenma making us go the Dark Martial Arts Tournament like that, those demons and Toguro were a hand full," Kuwabara complained, as Yusuke was walking with him to school.

"Kuwabara, I don't know how the hell you convinced me to go to school today. I mean I deserve a break for like three years after that little mission," Yusuke mumbled.

"Hello, you two!" Botan jumped out from behind Yusuke and Kuwabara.

"Botan, you scared me half to death like that!" Kuwabara said to Botan.

"Sorry you guys, but Koenma just gave me an order that you have another mission," Botan happily sang.

"What? I deserve at least six years of vacation after defeating that bastard Toguro!" Yusuke yelled at Botan.

"Well it's not a very tough mission. But it is tricky, so Koenma has ordered Kurama and Hiei to help out," Botan exclaimed.

"Well if it isn't hard I'm sure we could do it," Kuwabara answered for Yusuke.

"What do you mean `we'?" Yusuke glared at Kuwabara. The carrot-toped Kuwabara sweated a little.

"Now, now boys, all you have to do is find a prince! All four of you-and me of course-are going to be exchange students in a school called Green View Jr. High/High School," Botan declared.

"Oh, so now we're dealing with royalty. Oh well, ok, that's simple enough. Where's the picture of the prince?" Yusuke asked.

"That's the problem, we don't know who it is, and there are demons that somehow managed to get from the Makai to the Human World, and they want to kill the prince. If he dies, a race of demons will become extinct. He is a spirit demon. So it is important that one of us brings him to Koenma! That's why Hiei, Kurama, and I are going to help out. We can search more ground in the school and meet more people, one of whom could actually be the prince. All we know is that the prince is at that school, and he is in the ninth grade class. So your mission basically is: find out who the prince is, and bring him to Koenma. You're probably going to have to become friends with him in order to get him to Koenma. I think that he will be very stubborn. So let's go the school, it starts today! Don't worry, Keiko already knows. It's free dress, so no uniforms. Let's go, Kurama and Hiei are meeting us in front of the school," Botan explained, pulling Yusuke and Kuwabara behind her.

"Here we are, there's Kurama and Hiei, hurry up." Botan sped up while Yusuke and Kuwabara followed her. The school was a humongous building. There were a couple of steps to the doors. Hiei and Kurama stood to the side of the steps waiting for Yusuke, Kuwabara, and Botan.

"Mind you Botan, I think this is the most idiotic thing Koenma could make us do. I'm only doing this because Koenma ordered me to do this." Hiei glared at Botan, his red eyes shining in the sun.

"Don't worry Hiei, we won't be here for long…" Kurama looked at the school.

"Ready to go boys?" Botan marched up the stairs and stood next to the door.

"Don't we have code names, like in those spy movies?" Kuwabara asked stupidly.

"No. We're all going by the names of Yusuke, Kuwabara, Hiei, Kurama, and Botan. Koenma accidentally registered you as Kurama instead of Suiichi. Sorry," Botan smiled.

"It's ok." Kurama looked up and headed towards the doors.

"I still think a monkey could do this `mission'," Hiei mumbled.

Great, now we have to find someone we don't know anything about, except that he's a prince, in this school and in the ninth grade… Yusuke thought.

Soon, all five of them entered the school and headed to the principal's office. The halls were empty because all the students were in class, well at least, somewhere where they couldn't be heard or seen by the group of five. And so the mission begins: search for the prince. Little do they know, that the prince that they are searching for is a princess.
