Chapter 2: The Trickster

*************************************************************** *********

"So Botan, do you know anything else about this guy besides that he is a demon prince?" Kurama asked.

"I just got some info from Koenma," Botan replied as the five walked to the principal's office.

"He said that he is actually a very strange demon, probably a new kind. Koenma said that he has three different color eyes, and I don't mean that he has a blue jagan, one purple eye, and one red eye. Actually, the prince can change the color of his eyes, along with what type of demon he is, so nobody can say what type of demon he is. The three colors that his eyes can change into are blue, red and green. The color blue is when he is using ice attacks, and Koenma thinks that he is an ice apparition when the eyes are blue. I don't know how that is possible, knowing all true ice apparitions are women."

Hiei smirked. A thought of Yukina flashed though his mind, but then he mentally slapped himself in the face, pretending that ice apparitions were never mentioned.

"He uses fire attacks when his eyes are red, as a fire demon. When the eyes are green, he uses either the darkness technique or the lightness technique, and he is a spirit demon with these color eyes. He has a very strange personality and he is about 250 years old. That's all we know so far," Botan reported.

"When did you have time to acquire this information? I mean, you didn't know anything when you dragged Kuwabara and me here!" Yusuke exclaimed.

"That's for me to know and you to never find out!" Botan cheerfully responded.

"BOTAN!!!" Yusuke was loosing his temper.

"Yusuke, don't loose your temper. It's the first day of school and mission." Kurama calmed Yusuke.

"Yah, I hear this school is supposed to have really pretty girls here. I wonder what they're like, well, no of them can compare to my Yukina," Kuwabara talked to himself.

Hiei walked next to Kurama silently. He wished that Kuwabara would back-off Yukina, and thinking that this is the stupidest mission that Koenma has ever given them. He thought that Koenma was getting stupider also. He hated this mission.

The group arrived at the principal's office. Kurama walked up to the door and knocked. Kurama heard a man's voice say come in.

Kurama opened the door walking into the room with the other four following him.

"Ah, you must be the new students, come in, come in, I am your principal, Mr. Kitamura, please, sit down," Mr. Kitamura looked at the seats that he wanted the five to sit in.

"So you are Yusuke Urameshi, Kazuma Kuwabara, Botan, Kurama, Hiei, I can't help but noticing the three of you don't have last names," Mr. Kitamura looked at the three.

Botan hesitated a little.

"But since this is after all, Green View, practically everyone has a nick-name here. I bet you'll end up writing your nicknames on your paper so it doesn't really matter that your last names aren't there. Any way, here are your schedules, and have a good first day. Good luck," Mr. Kitamura gave each one of them a schedule. Kurama and Hiei were in period one together, Yusuke and Kuwabara were in the second 9th grade homeroom, and Botan was in the third homeroom class. All five of them stood up and ready to leave, but Mr. Kitamura had a couple more things to say.

"Just so you would know, when you came here all the busses were getting parked. That's why the school appeared deserted. 5 minutes ago, all the students have come. It's very wild out here so be careful. Oh and by the way, today all three of the 9th grade classes will be combined for a talk about universities in room 19, have a good first day at Green View!" Mr. Kitamura said to the group and showed them out of his office.

The group of five stepped out of Mr. Kitamura's office and couldn't believe their eyes. The school had gone from a deserted island to a raging city. There were so many students!

"Oh dear, this place is filled!" Botan stammered.

"I think our mission just got a lot harder." Kuwabara hesitated.

"Fool, we only have to look for children in the 9th grade." Hiei glared at Kuwabara.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN CHILDREN?" Kuwabara scowled at Hiei.

"Um, Hiei, I think Kuwabara has a point," Kurama pointed towards something on the announcement board.

"Hn." Hiei walked up to the board. It had a list of all the students and where they had to be. There were 654 students going to Green View. Earlier he noticed that the junior high students went into another building to learn, so that only 9th through 12th grade were going to school in this building. He looked up at the board to see the 9th grade class. Suddenly he was in shock.

"What wrong Hiei," Botan looked up at the board, "Uh oh."

"What is it Botan," Yusuke looked at the board, "63 STUDENTS IN THE 9TH GRADE!!! WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?"

"Now Yusuke, what did you expect? This is one of the top high schools in the area, and there are a lot of students that try to get in this high school. The junior high isn't as popular, but still, this is a good school and many people try to get in. But not all the students here are very smart so you'll fit in just fine, you have nothing to worry about," Kurama smiled.

"No, not that. There are 63 students. This is gonna be tougher than I thought. Hey, what do you mean by `not all the students here are very smart so you'll fit in just fine, you have nothing to worry about."

"Well, best get on going to room 19," Botan sighed.

The five set out to go to room 19. On the way there, they heard someone yelling. It was Mr. Kitamura, along with some girls screaming.

"AHHHH!!! WHY?"

Yusuke, Kuwabara, Hiei, Kurama, and Botan ran to where the sound was coming from.

"What happened?" Yusuke asked.

"The Trickster!!! Oh well, it's only fake stop screaming," Mr. Kitamura exclaimed. The girls stopped screaming. Yusuke and the others looked at what the cheerleaders and Mr. Kitamura were yelling about, with the exception of Kuwabara. He was staring at the cheerleaders.

Man, they are pretty, but not as pretty as Yukina, and I not just saying that. Sure they are cute, but I've seen better… oh well, they still are very good looking… Kuwabara thought.

Then he looked over to what the problem was and had his mouth wide open. The cheerleader's "prep" room had fake spiders and cobwebs all over. The cheerleaders thought they were real. There was a note on the wall:

Trickster was here. I said I was gonna get back at you for humiliating me at P.E. Here's my revenge. Beware. Don't mess when it comes to pissing me off, and then humiliating me.

"This writing is hard to read. What does it say?" Botan asked.

"It says: Trickster was here. I said I was gonna get back at you for humiliating me at P.E. Here's my revenge. Beware. Don't mess when it comes to pissing me off, and then humiliating me." One of the cheerleaders said.

"Today you will just have to use the locker rooms for your pep talks. There's nothing to see here. You girls, go do your pep talk in the locker rooms. You five go to room 19 now!" Mr. Kitamura was obviously stressed out.

"Mr. Kitamura, who is the trick…" Kuwabara was about to ask but stopped when he sensed that Mr. Kitamura was not in a good mood.

"Let's go," Botan whispered and the five of them left. They walked silently to room 19, which was 7 doors down and the first room on the right after the turn that was right after the 7th door. If someone were to step out into the hallway that the five were walking down, they could see Mr. Kitamura in front of the cheerleader's room.

As Kurama, Yusuke, Botan, and Kuwabara, stepped into room 19, Hiei, went out into the hall and looked at the pep room.

"The Trickster, huh." Hiei mumbled and then he went back to room 19, where his 4 companions are waiting for him.

When he stepped inside the teacher of that room looked up.

"Ah, the 5 new 9th graders are here. Attention all of 9th grade, our new students are here." The teacher announced.

There was a silence for a moment throughout the student body, and then there was some whispering. The five were just standing there, gazing upon at their new classmates, wondering what they would be like, and what they are whispering about.
