Chapter 1

" Stupid beginners! They almost gave away our position; we're lucky that the wind cleared the evidence, " said a bat demon as he walked next to his friend a fox demon before giving a glare to one of the novice thieves

" I agree, but that wind was rather unusual, it seemed like it was coming from the mansion... " replied the fox demon as he perked his white fox ears up " yet I also can't shake the feeling that there's someone or something watching our every move... "

" Relax Yoko, nothing is going to happen... " said the bat demon reassuringly

" I just hope that you're right Kuronue... " said the fox demon as his whole group arrived at the front yard of the renowned rich business man Tarakune

" What a beauty... " said Kuronue as he admired the huge mansion " I wonder how many jewels are there in her... "

Sweatdropping, Yoko said " We're here for the renowned dark oracle working for him not the jewels he collected... "

" Well a bat can dreamed can't he... " said Kuronue jokingly when suddenly he noticed " Wait a sec, where'd all the guards go? "

" Shit, its a tra- " yelled Yoko but before he could finish his sentence, a huge octopus-like creature came up and swatted Yoko's whole group like a bunch of flies

Getting to their feet, the thieves charged and tried to bring the kraken down. But the octopus shot a sticky glue at them trapping Yoko and his group except for Kuronue who used his bat wings to evade the attack. Kuronue then used his scythe and caught one of its huge tentacles but another tentacle caught hold of him and started to squeeze the life out of him.

" Kuronue! " yelled Yoko as he tried to get out of the glue

Kuronue turned to looked at his friend, he smiled slightly only to have the kraken squeezed harder, making wince in pain and nearly breaking his wings. Just then Tarakune appeared with his bodyguards, laughing his head off like a maniac.

" So the king of thieves can't even handle my octopus creation... Wait till Ruyu hears about this... " laughed the man

" You just wait, Tarakune! " said Yoko venomously

" Oh I'm so scared! To think Ruyu actually predicted that you'll be taking him away... " said Tarakune as he tried to slap the kitsune

However, Yoko growled in a very intimidating tone, Tarakune flinched before attempting to hit the fox again but as Yoko braced for impact, it never came. In fact, the next thing he knew, The kraken had been sliced into tiny pieces by a black blur figure. The figure then healed Kuronue before disappearing. With Kuronue and his group of thieves free Yoko quickly had Tarakune in an arm lock.

Tarakune immediately shrunk down and begged " Please spare my life! "

" Take us to the oracle! " commanded the fox

As Tarakune led them through the numerous flights of stairs, Yoko asked Kuronue telepathically

' Kuronue, are you okay? '

' Fine, never better ' thought Kuronue as he fiddled with his pendent

' Did you see the blur figure that just saved us just now? '

' Nope, he masked his face and he was wearing a cloak that covered his whole body, there was absolutely nothing I could see '

' His youki also seemed familiar, I think he was the one who covered our tracks.... '

' You think? He seemed pretty strong... '

' I agree... ' thought Yoko as he cut off the connection when they reached the oracles room

(A/N: Yoko won't know that my oc is a girl until later... )

Knocking on the door, Tarakune entered the room looking fearfully into the dark abyss of Rei's room

" Ruyu, you have some guests... " whimpered the cowardly man

" Really, I was expecting them only, aren't you suppose to be dead? " asked the oracle cockily as she remained hidden in shadows

" So you must be the dark oracle Ruyu working for Tarakune? " asked Kuronue

Smiling Rei said " Guilty as charged! " as she came out of the shadows

Suddenly Kuronue recognized it was the same outfit the blur figure was wearing but decided to question him later

" Have a seat... " said Rei as she pointed to the two chairs that appeared out of the darkness.

Eyeing the chairs cautiously, they did not sit down until Rei laughed and said " Don't worry, I have no reason to harm my future masters... "

Throwing Tarakune to his members and ordering them to keep an eye on him, Yoko finally sat down on one of the chairs followed by Kuronue. Suddenly, the door behind them closed shut.

" This had better not be a trap... " growled Yoko

" For the second time, I assure you I have no reason to harm you, not unless you give me one... "

" Would holding your master, Tarakune, be one of the reasons? " asked Kuronue curiously as he fiddled with his red pendent

" No it wouldn't, you can kill him for all I care because that way he won't be able to torture a certain koorime... " said Rei simply

(A/N: The koorime is Yukina for all those who don't know and yes I am making it in such a way that Tarakune has had an encounter with my oc before finding Yukina, of course Yoko currantly doesn't know what she is talking about )

Shooting glances at Rei, Yoko said " You are sure eager to get rid of this master aren't you? "

" Personally, he is just another scum to this world, and yes I would love to get rid of him if I had a chance, but I have no right to kill him... " explained Rei

" Why? You obviously have enough power to do such a thing... " said Kuronue as he stopped fiddling his pendent and stared at the masked figure

" Well there are some rules which I have to follow as an oracle. Rule number one, I am only suppose to tell people what their future is and warn them but it is really relatively up to them to confirm their fate... " explained Rei

" So that settles it, you're in the group now! " exclaimed Kuronue as he rose from the chair

" A question for the new member before we leave, " asked Yoko as he got up from the chair " why do you conceal yourself in such a manner? Are you afraid to show us your face or maybe you don't want to show us your gender... "

" My dear Yoko, if you weren't my master, I swear that I would have ripped your guts out for that was a very insulting question... " said Rei grimly when she heard Yoko's question

" Oh really? Go ahead Ruyu try me, " said Yoko smugly

" Will you two stop it! We've only just met and here you are Yoko, picking on the new recruit... This isn't like you... "

" Don't worry Yoko, if you are really that interested in my gender then you can always find out in the oncoming competition you hold for your groups, " said Rei, she had already seen Yoko unmasking her on that day and only that day

" Fine, I'll do just that... " said Yoko confidently but he was surprised about her knowing about the competition

Suddenly, Rei heard a familiar sound, like a clock ticking, glancing around the room, she found something very unpleasant. It was another genetic creation of Tarakune's. It was a live bomb. It was created for the purpose of bombing enemies without them knowing what hit them. At that same instant, a demon from Kuronue's group came running in saying that Tarakune had escaped.

However, there was no time for Yoko to be angry, Rei shouted for them to duck as the bomb went off. Later there was a huge explosion but the blast never did reach Yoko and Kuronue. Instead, they found Rei standing in front of them with her hands outstretched, creating a forcefield around them and their team members. When the blast and fire died down, Rei closed the force field before glancing back at them. There wasn't a single scratch on the thieves at all and Yoko had to admit he was really impressed.

Observing the damaged rubble around him he smirked to himself and said " Not bad, you are able to produce a force field strong enough to shield all of us from such a blast, I am very impressed... "

Holding out his hand, Yoko said " Welcome to the group Ruyu... "

Glancing at his hand, Rei took it warily but managed to say a simple thank you

Releasing the hold of her hand, Yoko then told the group " Time to head back to camp! "

This triggered every member to cheer loudly as they used their demon speed to head to camp with Yoko leading. Kuronue lagged behind a little and asked her telepathically ' Ruyu a question if you mind... '

' What is it? '

' Are you the one who saved us just now from that octopus thing? '

' Yes I did, but I would preferred if you didn't tell anybody about it.. '

' Sure, by the way, thanks! '

Looking a bit shocked she asked ' Urmm, your welcome, I guess... '

She ended the conversation quickly as they headed back to camp silently
