It was a wonder why she wasn't worried this time. Any other time she'd stand by Esmé's side just to assure herself that everything would be fine. She stood by Eiji's side and watched as Esmé mingled with Kurama and her other friends. “This is new. Aren't you going to go over there and comfort her?” He asked. Yurimé sighed in relief as she smiled down at her son. “She's all grown up Eiji. She doesn't need me to hang all around her. She's our niece and we know that she will bring victory. It's almost time.”

 

Esmé walked towards the door and turned back to her friends. “This is the last battle everyone. I know you will all serve me well. Remember, if we fall, we fall together. Victory is waiting for us. Let's take what is ours.”

 

Upstairs, Conya sat in her room filing her nails. “I can't believe this. Where can my ridiculous brother be? I'm tired of waiting for him. That bitch Esmé could be doing anything right now. I want to be ready so that I can kill her.” She said. Conya got up from her seat and walked to her window and looked out to the distance. ::: Where are you Esmé? Where are you hiding? :::

 

“If you're looking for Queen Esmé she's down here you bitch!”

 

Orchid waved at Conya from below her balcony. “Hmph, you got a lot of nerve coming here on your own bitch. Wolves attacks!” Conya commanded. A pack of wolves emerged from behind the trees and the gates of the castle. Orchid sighed as she counted the number of wolves. “Well… this is an outnumber. Little me against a pack of ravenous wolves. What's a girl suppose to do?”

 

“Call on her guard. Shot gun!!!”

 

Yusuke's shot gun attack fired from behind Orchid and hit the wolves directly. “I don't see why we needed you. Though I enjoy your company, you aren't needed here.”

 

Yusuke walked beside Orchid and slithered an arm around her waist. “Babe, you know you're happy to have me on the team. Yo! Your majesty! Hurry up and get inside and take your throne.” Yusuke called. Esmé, Eiji, Kurama and Yurimé darted past Yusuke and Orchid in their furs. With Esmé leading, she led them straight to the throne room. Once there, Esmé took her human form and walked to the throne. “Very soon. I will take my place where my father once sat.”

 

“No. You're take your place beside your father's grave. This is mine Esmé. Your father was generous enough to give me opportunity to demolish his family. Now, it's time for the last of the royal family…to rest in peace with the rest of them.” Conya said. Yurimé clenched her fist and stepped toward Conya. “You'll do no such thing!”

 

“Stand down Yurimé…this is my battle.”

 

A red aura emitted from Esmé's body and a strong gust of wind surged through the throne. “Your time has come to an end. Prepare for the last assault.”

 

“Do you honestly think you can scare me? Die!!!”

 

Conya whipped her hand at Esmé and a wave of black energy rushed at her. Instead of moving, Esmé stood her ground with closed eyes. “Pathetic.”

 

As she spoke, the wave dissolved. Conya, however, didn't falter. She created another wave that encircled Esmé. “Esmé!”

 

“Don't worry Yuri. She's fine.”

 

Esmé raised her hand and this time, the wave shot back at Conya, who was too traumatized at the fact that her own attack was reversed back to her to move. It hit her directly. Esmé walked towards Conya with emotionless eyes. “Stay down.” She whispered. “Conya pushed herself up from the ground and sat on her knees, holding her stomach. A huge gash was formed across it. “Bitch…do you think you can..”

 

Conya stopped in the middle of her sentence and vomited blood. “Your wound…it won't take long for your last breath to come. You're dying Conya…you may as well consider the fact that I killed you. Before you depart from this world, apologize to my mother and father. I'll leave you alone so that you may do such, it may be embarrassing for you to do so in front of your enemy.” With that, Esmé turned from Conya and walked towards her family. Conya, instead of doing as Esmé commanded, she lifted herself up and backed away, only to be stopped by her brother. “Aiden…help me. Help me please. If you help-”

 

“Why? You killed Haku, so I'm going to let Esmé kill you. Go to sleep, dear sister.”

 

Conya sank to her knees and looked up at Aiden in disbelief. One, he knew that she had killed Haku and two, he wouldn't help her, even against their enemy. Her eyes closed and she exhaled her last breath. Esmé looked over at Aiden and walked to him. “Uncle Aiden.”

 

“My dear niece Esmé, you look more and more like your mother each day. I remember how she died. It was a sad sight, but you were unconscious and unable to see. You remember nothing of what happened that day?”

 

“Nothing.”

 

Aiden took Esmé into his arms and brought her to his tight embrace. “It's all right Esmé. You don't have to worry. I'll send you all to be with Shinosuke and Celia. You can all be the happy family you were once, even in death.” He promised. Esmé smiled and back away from his embrace. “It began to sound like a fantasy but a truth shines through that false illusion. My time with my mother and father will never come back. I'm moving on with their spirit beside me. The first step to a secure future, annihilating my family's enemies…you.”

 

The red aura began to surge around Esmé, then the entire room. She lifted her hand up and all of it formed into her palm. “This is the end Aiden. Join your sister!!!”

 

Esmé aimed her palm at Aiden and the red aura shot out of it. Aiden shot his own energy at Esmé with the same amount of power, same size. The collided against each other, both fighting for victory. Esmé added her second hand, hoping it would increase in power but it had no affect. “Yurimé, Eiji, Kurama, Aura, Orchid, Isis, Yusuke, Kuwabara! If I lose now…I want you know…I'm proud of the fact that you served under me! You were all good subordinates…I couldn't ask for a better set of friends. Thank you…”

 

“Esmé! It doesn't have to be that way!”

 

Isis, Orchid and Aura hopped in from the window and raced to Esmé's side. “You're not ready to give in yet.” Isis said. Esmé listened to Isis' words and saw through Aiden's attack. ::: My last assault…Fox of the blue flame! :::

 

A blue fox appeared behind Esmé and darted for Aiden. He screamed released his attack on Esmé, only to have both clash against him. Both aura began to flow outward, destroying everything around it. “We must go!” Aura said. She, Orchid and Isis picked Yurimé, Kurama and Eiji out and fled from the castle, waiting for the aura to subdue. “Esmé…she has to be alive!”

 

“Kurama wait!”

 

Kurama ran back inside the castle to the throne room to find Esmé alive. She sat on her knees, covering her face with her hands. Kurama walked to her side and embraced her. “It's all right Esmé. You've won.”

 

“I know Kurama. I felt them beside me. They helped me. Mama, papa, thank you…thank you.”

 

“Esmé, we can't be anymore proud of you then we already are. You've done well.” Celia said. Esmé stood up and smiled to her parents. “Mama, I've learned something in this past battle. It feels good to have something given to you. But to earn it, that is the greatest joy any living person can feel. I earned this title and I'm going to use it with the same dignity that you and papa did. But…I can't do it alone. Kurama, will you do me the honor of ruling by my side?”

 

Kurama took Esmé's hand and held it tightly. “Only if you do me the honor of being my wife.” He bargained. Celia and Shinosuke looked at each other then back at Esmé and Kurama. “You have our consent. Treat our daughter and our people with respect.”

 

Esmé and Kurama bowed to Celia and Shinosuke, then left the throne room together, hand in hand.

 

 

 

 

 

One Week Later…

 

 

 

 

“There's going to be a wedding! There's going to be a coronation!”

 

“Hush Isis! And look at your dress. Come on it's almost time.”

 

Isis, Orchid and Aura walked to the throne room and took their place on the steps beside the seat meant for the king and Queen. Yurimé, Eiji, Junichi stood together waiting for Esmé and Kurama to come down the aisle together. Instead of the couple, Haku came running. Yes, Haku was alive. Yurimé had pulled his ghost from the spirit realm and restored it to his body with Koenma's consent. “Lady Yurimé, Lord Eiji, Esmé and Kurama aren't in their rooms.” He announced. Everyone gasped and Eiji stepped up. “Well where the hell can they be?”

 

“Don't worry. I have an idea. Lady Yurimé, I ask that you postpone the coronation just a little bit longer.” Aura requested. Isis and Orchid looked at each other and blushed.

 

Elsewhere, in the human world, it was night time and the two youkos had gone to the club where they had first danced. They swayed together in each other's arms, inhaling each other's love. “I'm so glad they decided to play our song tonight Esmé. Would you hate me if I spoke only thousand words to you?” Kurama asked. Esmé caressed Kurama's cheek and shook her head. “I wouldn't care how many words you spoke Kurama. You can say one thousand words to me…but all I want to hear you say is I love you.”

 

With that, Esmé took Kurama's lips into a passionate kiss. Their embrace on each other tightened as the stars above them twinkled in the night.
