Chapter 9: Giving In
Hiei sat in a tree on the edge of the forest.
He was thinking; hard.
The past week he had been here had been torture for him: his nearness to his sister seemed to only aggravate his lustful thoughts and dreams.
Every plan he had tried since he first learned of his attraction to his sister seemed to backfire on him, and Hiei knew he would not be able to stay around Yukina much longer without telling her the truth behind his return.
He had tried to tell her before, considering it only right for him to be completely honest with her, but his fear of being turned away again and his fear of what the others would think if they found out kept him from saying a peep.
He looked over at the garden when a tinkling laugh arose above the wind in the trees. Yukina sat there with a bird perched on her finger.
“Why, hello there, birdy,” she greeted it.
The bird tweeted back its hello.
“It’s quite chilly out today,” she continued, “You should go back to your nest where it’s safe and warm.”
The bird, seeming to understand her, cocked its head to the side before leaning in and giving her a soft peck, akin to a kiss, on the cheek. It immediately flew off in what Hiei believed was the direction its nest was.
Yukina giggled and waved after the bird’s form until it disappeared.
Hiei turned his face away from his sister as he grimaced, a groan echoing from his mouth. There was something wrong when he became jealous of a bird.
“Yukina,” he whispered forlornly into the surrounding trees before pulling all of his runaway emotions back into his quickly deteriorating shell and jumping from his hiding spot.
----
“Oh, Hiei-san, there you are, Brother,” Yukina chimed as she plucked a flower from a nearby bush; she was planning on making a fresh floral arrangement this evening after dinner.
Hiei walked up behind where the small koorime knelt and looked at the flowers she had already picked.
“That one,” he said as he pointed to a beautiful crimson flower with an icy turquoise stem, “That one is not bad.”
Yukina looked up at her brother and smiled beatifically.
“Then I will be sure to gather some more since Hiei-san likes it so much.”
Hiei grunted and looked away, folding his arms in front of his chest as if saying it did not matter to him, but he smirked as his sister walked over to a group of similar flowers and picked two more.
After placing the two flowers Hiei liked on the pile with the rest, Yukina went on to the next planter as she watered each plant, humming happily the entire time.
Hiei couldn’t take his eyes off of her, could barely keep his hands off of her. She was just so beautiful, so innocent, so happy, so accepting.
He turned away with a groan as he tried to suppress his urge to grab his sister and tell her the truth.
“Hiei-san?”
Hiei turned to look back at his sister, but deemed that a bad idea when he saw concern and care written explicitly on her face.
She wouldn’t be like this if she knew. If she understood what he wanted of her.
“Hiei-san, what is wrong?” Yukina asked worriedly as she lightly touched Hiei’s arm.
Hiei gasped involuntarily and his eyes widened as the muscles near where his sister had touched him clenched. She had too much control over him.
“Brother, please, tell me,” Yukina pleaded, “You’re not hurt, are you?”
“Iie,” he gulped, still unable to face his sister.
“Then please tell me,” the gentle koorime begged, “You can tell me anything, Brother.”
And, as always, Hiei gave in.
If she did not accept him afterwards, as he was sure she would, then he would leave.
And if the others learned of it, as he was sure they would, then they could shun him.
He just could not say no to his sister.
----
“I dreamt and thought about you constantly when I was in the Makai,” he told her shakily, “I thought it was misplaced brotherly affections, but ever since I have returned, I have known that it was something else.”
Yukina watched her brother with curious eyes, wondering where he could be going with this.
“I came back because I thought that being more brotherly to you would assuage my thoughts, my dreams,” Hiei continued, “But those have only grown and evolved.”
“Brother?” Yukina asked questioningly, concern apparent as she lightly grabbed his shaking right hand, “What is it, Brother? You can tell me, whatever it is.”
“Yukina-chan, Sister,” he whispered softly as he brought his left hand up to cup the koorime’s cheek, “I crave you, Sister. I crave you as a lover, as a mate.”
Yukina’s eyes widened in shock and Hiei pulled his hand away and lowered his head in shame.
“I tried so hard to stop it,” he choked, “But I want you so much. I need you Sister.”
Yukina swallowed the lump that had formed in the back of her throat as she processed everything Hiei had just admitted to her. She was taking her time, and she knew that; but what Hiei was asking of her was a lot, and he knew that.
Apparently her brother had again expected an immediate answer, though, because he began to pull away from her.
“Ah!” she cried as she broke out of her shocked stupor and clung desperately to him.
She would not let him run away this time.
“Don’t go, Brother!”
“I disgust you,” he replied evenly, and Yukina almost cried as she looked into Hiei’s eyes to see shame and brokeness.
“No, Hiei-san, you do not disgust me.”
“I have no right to even ask that of you,” he continued, “I am nothing - worthless - and you are everything - priceless. I should not even consider it. You are pure and I am tainted and here I am asking you to give yourself to me.”
“Brother, stop!” Yukina shrieked as she tried to keep hold of the struggling demon.
Hiei stopped and stared at her wide-eyed.
Yukina looked into his crimson eyes with her own overwhelmed ones. She did not want him to go, although she had been unsure of what to say to his confession. It was the moment she looked into his eyes, into his soul, and saw the brokeness, that she realized that she would agree to it - she would agree to anything to heal him.
She walked closer to him, holding onto his elbows.
“Don’t go, Hiei-san, Brother.”
She whispered it against his lips, keeping her eyes trained directly on his.
“Yukina,” he barely managed to whisper as she walked to him and lightly pressed her body against his.
“Hiei.”
Hiei’s breath grew haggard and a flame of arousal lit in his eyes at her reply. She had left off the honorific. She had called him just by his name. And in that voice, that voice that did not belong anywhere outside a bedroom.
“Take me, Hiei,” she whispered in that voice again, “Take me as your mate.”
And that was when he gave in.
----
Hours later Hiei and Yukina lay naked in the cool, calm, solitude of her room, their arms and legs entwined so thoroughly that they knew not where one ended or the other began.
“I love you, Brother,” Yukina whispered in the shadowed silence of dusk.
“I love you, Sister.”
Their crimson gazes locked, red on red.
The fires within them both grew and they leaned in to share another of their many passionate kisses.
When they pulled away Hiei was caressing the two raised bumps on his sister’s silky, ivory neck.
Yukina’s hand joined his.
“I love you, Hiei.”
“As I love you, Mate” Hiei replied.
Yukina smiled warmly as she snuggled into Hiei’s warm grasp and quickly fell asleep.
Hiei chuckled as he looked down at Yukina and pulled her into a tighter, possessive embrace.
Who cared about what the others would think of this. His sister had asked him to do this and, after all, he never could deny his sister what she asked.
