~*~ Last Time ~*~
As I walked up to my sink to wash my hands after dealing with the sticky ice cream, I noticed a figure looking up from the courtyard below. As I looked closer, I saw red hair glinting off of the streetlamps below. Oh no, I thought, It's that Suuichi. What does he want and how did he figure out where I lived?
~*~ On We Go ~*~
I backed away from my kitchen window, a little creeped-out by this boy's reappearance. I looked at my bowl of ice cream with the bag of pretzels next to it and sighed. Maybe later, I said to it and placed it in the refrigerator. I returned to my room and grabbed my bathrobe and made my way to the terrace as I tied it around me. Stepping out onto the terrace, I saw Suuichi perk up.
“Tenshi!” he called.
“Shhhh!” I replied, pointing to my left and right.
“Tenshi, I just had to see you again.” He said in a loud whisper
“Hold on,” I said softly, holding up a finger. I walked back into my room, wondering what the heck I was thinking and made my way out into the main hallway. I entered the elevator, still clad in my pjs and bathrobe, and pushed the button to go to the first floor. When the bell dinged and the machine stopped, I was greeted by a lovely bouquet of white roses. My breath left me as I stared at the perfect blossoms. Then they moved upwards and my eyes followed, putting me face-to-face with the boy. His soft green eyes danced as they looked at me, showing obvious delight that I had decided to come down. “Hi,” I said, looking over his nicely-dressed form. “Sorry I'm not really dressed for company.”
“It's' okay,” he said. “I kind of like you being comfy in pjs—I mean, being comfortable enough to see people in pjs—or rather to be--”
“Suuichi? I get it.” I interjected, saving both of us from him. We stared at each other for a minute when I finally spoke again. “Was there something that you needed?”
He shook his head, and then began to speak. “Actually I wanted to know if you were doing anything tomorrow. I'd love to take you out so we can talk.”
My common sense screamed `NO' with flags and banners, but my heart wondered if he had something to do with `The Makai Lullaby”. I'd always been told that it wasn't really a lullaby, but rather an ancient spell; an incantation of sorts. My grandmother used to tell me a story about a princess that had been cursed with that lullaby so that she would sleep until her true love would steal her away. But that was just a story, right?
Unsure of myself, I nodded then found my voice and asked him what time and where we should meet.
“How about 4 o'clock in the park that we met in?”
I nodded. “I'll be there.”
He grinned at me, eliciting a small smile from me. “Perfect.” He said, turning slowly.
I watched him casually walk away until I could no longer see him. As I turned, I finally noticed that the flowers that Suuichi had been holding had somehow found their way into my hands. That boy is interesting, I thought. That's for sure.
