Next day, dawn.

Keiko was going crazy. She had only been here about a day and she couldn't take it anymore. Not only was her gunshot wound hurting like hell but she kept getting off and on fevers all morning. She'd had four already. Kurama was a big help though. Thank God he knew what he was doing. God knows she doesn't.

Keiko sighed and climbed out of Yusuke's bed. She looked over at the couch were he slept. Yusuke was resting peacefully, lying on his belly and his arm slung lazily over the side of the couch. She smiled at this picture. `He's so cute!' She mused to herself. Being very quiet, Keiko walked over to her discarded clothing and began to strip of the nightshirt that Yusuke let her barrow.

She tugged his shirt off, pulling her own over her head and taking of Yusuke's shorts and putting her pants on. Keiko walked over to Yusuke's dresser and used his comb to brush out her hair. She paused for a moment as another dizzy spell hit, making her head spin. She gripped the side of the dresser to regain her balance.

"Damn wound!" she mumbled to herself.

Keiko finished her hair and walked silently over to where Yusuke was still sound asleep. She sat down on the floor quietly next to him. Yusuke mumbled something but then just fidgeted around till he was comfortable again. Keiko sighed and leaned her back against the couch. "Wake up Urameshi, you lazy bum, I'm hungry!" she groaned to herself.

"If you were hungry, why didn't you say so?"

Keiko jumped then looked behind her. Yusuke was looking at her; his head resting on his palm, rubbing sleep from his eyes. Keiko smiled and stood up. "I thought you were sleeping?" she said.

Yusuke yawned and stretched his arms and legs.

"I was. But you were making too much noise. Anyways, what do you want?" he asked.

Keiko thought for a second.

"Toast…can you do that?"

"Just toast? That's not breakfast."

"It is to me!"

Yusuke sighed and rubbed the back of his head. "If you say so. Come on." He said, motioning for her to follow. Yusuke walked out his door, holding it for Keiko.

She smiled but then it turned into a frown as soon as they came to a fleet of steps.

Yusuke lead her down the stairs, down a long hallway, into a large gray room, filled with small commotion. Well, that is until she entered. Keiko could see angry glares directed towards her, she could see guys sharpening knifes, loading and unloading shotguns.

Everyone was silent for a while until Yusuke shot them all dark glares.

"Bringing trash into the gang now?" one of the guys said.

Yusuke looked him directly in the eye.

"What did you say?" he asked angrily, his teeth tightly clenched.

Keiko was trying to remain calm, but with the stares she was receiving, it really irked her. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a bulky looking guy lick his lips. She scowled and moved behind Yusuke to try and hide from sight. He half glanced at her, seeing she was quite uncomfortable.

The guy grinned at her, a disgusting smirk playing at his features. He lifted his chin arrogantly at Yusuke while fingering his dagger. Keiko decided right then that she did not like that man.

"I said are you letting trash join now?"

Yusuke's eyes flared and he held a protective arm in front of the lithe girl at his side. "Can we leave, Yusuke?" she asked him calmly, her eyes watching the men around her carefully. "I feel sick just looking at him…"

"Keiko!" Yusuke warned.

"So the wench speaks." The ugly man drew out, flicking his blade back into his pocket. "Hey Urameshi, out of all the whores you've had, why keep this one?" the man asked, arrogance apparent in his voice. Yusuke's blood was boiling, he was so far beyond pissed. He ran right up to the guy and slugged him right in the face, knocking him straight across the other side of the room.

Keiko watched, half stunned, half angry. `Whores? Oooh, this is great!' She narrowed her eyes at the man, and then looking up, she focused her sight on Yusuke's face. "Whores? That's nice to know Yusuke…" she said bitterly.

"I can explain!"

"Later." She said icily.

Yusuke frowned and guided her into the back room where the kitchen was. Keiko staid behind him, eyes focused on the ground beneath her. `Well Keiko-chan, you couldn't expect him to wait forever. Then again, it's Yusuke! ' She thought to herself. But another part of her disagreed, `He left you! And you waited three years for him!' That's a reasonable argument. Keiko swallowed silently, in her heart it hurt.

`Why did I wait for you?' Keiko asked to herself.

Yusuke walked over to a cupboard, grabbed a loaf of bread and pulled out two pieces. He placed them into a battery-operated toaster. Keiko hopped on the counter next to him, still focused on the ground.

She could smell the toast baking and glanced up to make sure Yusuke wasn't burning it.

"We can talk you know." Yusuke said, concern in his voice.

Keiko sighed. "Urameshi, you really don't get it, do you? I won't stay long, no matter if we talk or not. I'll be gone again and almost silent. Like I am, like I have been." She said coldly. Keiko could feel anger radiating in him, but he was keeping it suppressed.

"What makes you think I'll let you leave? I could hold you prisoner." He said, eyes narrowing at her. Keiko laughed dryly.

"I'll escape. I told you I've learned a few tricks. Not to mention my associates know I went to a place like this. They'll come looking." She answered, looking at him.

Yusuke scowled and handed her, her toast.

"You like it plain, right?" he asked. Keiko nodded and took a bite of her meal. Yusuke watched her for a second, and then walked towards the door.

"Where're you going?" she asked.

"To get Kurama, your wound needs looked at." He answered heartlessly. Keiko swallowed a piece of toast and nodded. "Stupid baka!" she muttered.

Keiko tore off another piece of bread, popping it into her mouth.

`He says he's a man, but he still acts like the stubborn boy I grew up with.' She mused.

Then the thought about the whores came to mind again.

This really didn't sound like her Yusuke…not at all. It sounded like a…an…a…well something of a Hentai! It's just not his style, right? He had done it though, and he wasn't denying it…but why? Did he want to feel like a man or was he just being a hormone driven teen? Keiko scowled. `That sounds a bit right.' She thought coldly.

How come they just couldn't be normal? She hadn't been here all that long and yet all this crap was happening. Maybe this was a sign? Telling her to go home? They're not ment to be? They all sound possible. But what would Yusuke do if she just left?

`Disappear, that's what the Rebel Angels do best.' Keiko thought to herself. There's also that other problem, if something had happened back at the school, to Botan or Yukina, especially Yukina, Hiei (Yes, Hiei is in my story, don't worry, his part will fall into play! God, so fan-girls, just chill!) and Kuwabara would be quite angry.

"It's got to be soon," she said dryly.

"What has to be soon, Keiko-chan?"

Keiko jumped. She glanced up from the ground to see Kurama standing in the doorway, holding a bag of supplies. Keiko smiled and waved her hand. "Nothing Kurama, nothing at all." She said sweetly and softly. Kurama smirked and walked over to her, motioning for her to get down.

"I think I'd better see if it's swollen or not." He said calmly, beginning to unravel the bandages. Keiko flinched a little as he tried to remove it off gently, her skin still a little bit sensitive from the wound. Once it was totally off, Kurama took some alcohol from his pack, putting it on a rag, then looked up at her.

"It's infected. Keiko, this is going to hurt VERY badly. If you are going to scream, please try to suppress it?" He said calmly, trying to comfort her. Keiko held her breath and nodded. Kurama gently began to dab the wound with the alcohol.

Suddenly, Keiko could feel the souring pain seize her body like no other. First it came in waves of burns, then came the stinging.

She began to scream but clasp her hand over her mouth to keep it in. Kurama looked up at her sadly, smiling weakly for so insurance, but then continued on with his work. Keiko whimpered a few more times, and then finally the pain was gone.

"Remind me never to raid this place ever again." She groaned.

Kurama laughed, putting away the supplies and placing a much smaller bandage that only just covered her wound. "Well, I think I can try." He said happily. Keiko smiled and rubbed her side.

"Thanks Kurama. It's really nice to see you again."

Kurama winked at her. "Same here. Only next time Keiko-chan, I want us to see each other when you are well." He joked. Keiko and Kurama laughed. Kurama later then took Keiko up to Yusuke's room, opening the door and letting her in. Yusuke was sitting on the couch, his hands resting behind his head, eyes closed. He popped open one eye as they walked in.

"Yusuke, I need to talk to you." Kurama said quietly, but still demanding.

"Coming…" Yusuke got up, eyeing Keiko as he left the room. Keiko looked up at Kurama, giving him a suspicious look as he turned to leave.

"This doesn't feel right." Keiko said aloud as the door closed. Quickly, she glanced around the room. She spotted her necklace and sunglasses on the dresser. She walked over and grabbed them, slipping them into her pockets. She looked for her pack.

Finding it near the table, she opened it to see how much supplies were left.

There seemed to be more than enough for the kids. Sighing, Keiko zipped the pack back up and hid it beneath the bed.

Meanwhile…

"What is it Kurama?" Yusuke asked, his back leaning against the wall. Kurama stood across from him. His eyes focused on Yusuke's as he crossed his arms over his chest.

"Listen Yusuke, Keiko's wound is infected, but she's fine. But that's not what I want to talk to you about. Keiko was mumbling about something when I walked into the kitchen." Kurama said seriously. " She seemed quite concentrated and very serious. I even scared her when I walked in."

Yusuke glanced up from the ground. "So, what did she say?" He asked impatiently. Kurama's eyes gleamed and he walked towards the door. He pressed his ear to the door, listening intently. Yusuke gave him a confused look. "What did she say, Kurama?" he asked again.

Glancing back at Yusuke, he answered. "She said, `It's got to be soon' I asked her what it ment, but she waved it off. I think Keiko might try to escape." He looked at Yusuke's face, not at all surprised to see what he did. He had narrowed his eyes and was leaning back against the wall again.

"I'm not going to let her go, why can't she see that?" he said coldly. Kurama glared at his friend.

"You forget that Keiko-chan got in here, and I have no doubt that she will be able to slip out." Kurama stated, almost amused at the thought. Yusuke glared at him, obviously not amused.

" I want her to stay here. "Yusuke told him, slipping his hands into his pockets.

He frowned and started to walk down the darkened hallway. Kurama sighed, "Where are you going Yusuke?" he asked, eyeing his friend closely. He heard a muffled reply of `I going for a walk' and left it at that. All that Kurama could do is pray Yusuke realizes what he's dealing with.

Yusuke prayed that Keiko would be sleeping as he slowly opened his bedroom door. He peeked inside, grinning when he saw that Keiko was sleeping soundly on the couch. He sighed and quietly walked into the room.

Only the light of the moon lit the room. It was enough for him to see Keiko in full picture. She was slightly curled on the couch, her hair falling off the side of it. She was wearing one of his shirts and boxers again, that made him grin. God she looked good in his clothes.

Yusuke walked over to her sleeping form, placed his arms under her legs and neck, and carried her over to his bed. He put her down softly, careful not to wake her. He watched the rise and fall of her chest… why did she have to find out about that? It wasn't fare. Yusuke hadn't wanted to hurt her. Now, he knew that she would leave, possibly permanently. Yusuke frowned. He couldn't have that.

Daringly, he bent down next to Keiko, watching her every movement. He gently traced her lips with his finger. They were soft and warm…and so damn tempting. What he would give just to taste those sweet, alluring lips. God to feel her next to him…beneath him…

Narrowing his dark eyes, he kissed her softly on the lips, careful not to wake her. It sent chills of heat down his body, even though it was only for a brief moment.

Whether Keiko liked it or not, she wasn't leaving. He decided that as soon as she opened her eyes in his bed the other day. She was going to stay here. He'd make damn sure of that.

Love and peace from Mars,

Rei-chan

My hands are stained

So are yours

My heart bleeds from the pain

So will yours

I sing the songs of the sirens

As did my mother, as shall my daughter.

Each note I hit, every melody I sing,

I'll tell the world of the pain you caused me.

Even though my hands are stained,

I'll sing this unchained melody.
