Slowly your eyes opened, so reveal a deep blue ceiling, you sat up, and took in your surroundings, it looked like you were in a traditional Japanese room, you were lying on a Japanese futon bed, with intricate patterns woven in silk. There was a paper screen door to one side, the light falling strangely upon you.

"Where am I?" You whispered, you heard the swish of one of the screen doors opening behind you, you turned, placing your hand on the straw matted floor, it was smooth to your touch. At the screen door, was a girl roughly your age. She had blue hair, and red eyes, you didn't really mind that, not after all that had been happening lately.

"Oh, your awake!" she smiled, and walked over to you, "Is your arm feeling better?" You had completely forgotten about that… you looked down to your arm, and saw the sleeve had been stitched back together. You pulled it up, and gasped… there was no trace of a scar… nor any sign there had ever been a wound, nor broken bone….

"…what happened?!" you gasped, had you been out for so long, that even the scars had vanished from time?

"I healed your wounds, or at least… I tried, Genkai had to heal it. It was odd… my powers hardly made an impact…" she sighed, and smiled, you raised a brow.

"Powers?... Hold it… GENKAI!? The legendary Reikai master!?" your eyes widened, you had heard about Genkai…. She had taken on a pupil to pass on her powers…

"Yes… you're in her temple." Your jaw dropped, first you were attacked by demons…. Now you were in Genkai's temple!

"…Please say you're joking…." You whispered, suddenly, who should walk in, but the short, pink haired old lady herself… Genkai…

"She isn't… I'm Genkai…" you fell back onto your futon, you pinched yourself, when nothing happened, your fears were confirmed. You were in Japan, far from home, at the one place you never thought you would ever see… Genkai's Temple…

"How did I get here? How long have I been out? Why am I here?" you asked,

"You were attacked by an Oni, and saved by our friend, Kurama. He brought you here, and told us that something had happened and a strange gem had appeared… You've been out for three days… and an old friend of mine will tell you why you are here…" Genkai sat on the floor. 'So that cute red head's called Kurama…' "Now, you answer one of my questions… what happened to you after the attack?" You racked your mind, trying to remember… and only one thing came to mind…

"Her…" you whispered, suddenly… shadow tendrils came out from around you, you gasped, and felt them ensnare you, pulling you down… and it began…

The darkness swirled around you, an ever changing, ever shifting portal of dreams… Than, she appeared… why was she tormenting you? Did you have something she wanted? Or were you what she wanted? Her eyes showed you nothing…

"Ah… little one… we finally meet… after so many years of me trying to get your attention… you finally listen, and see…" she nodded,

"So many years? What are you talking about?" you frowned, none of this made any sense… nothing made sense…

"You have much to learn… little one… soon you will remember… and soon all will be clear…" she smiled, and faded out into the darkness.

"What will I remember? What do I have to learn?" you asked, angered, and frustrated. Who was she? What did she want? Questions filled your head… The darkness suddenly formed into a village, the scene… so familiar… and yet… unknown to you. The people all had bat wings, white hair… and red eyes… "Plato…" you muttered, remembering one of the demons that attacked you… yes… they reminded you of him… The scene vanished, and you fell back once again into the swirling darkness…

"You will remember one day… little one… you will… do not despair… For within the light, there is the deepest darkness… and within the darkness… there is the brightest of light…" You felt yourself leaving the darkness, leaving the place… unsure of if you wanted to, or not…

Oh…. very dark…. Really dark… who is the shadow lady? What's with the gem? Who are the winged people? How do you fit in to all this?
