So without further ado, the final chapter of the Violinist and the Prince. And yes, tissues will be handed out at the end.

Kuri: YOU ARE SO VAIN!

Ddc: Tehehehe yes I know. ^_^;;; don't hate me. I can't help it.

Hiei looked down from his seat in the balcony at the young man on the stage below who seemed to emit a magical glow as he stood, swaying slightly back and forth on the soles of his feet to the music he was creating. The prince was dressed in a luxurious dark red robe, causing him to stand out slightly in the crowd of humans who had worn bright glittering dresses and expensive tuxes. But he didn't care. He was watching his lover play his heart out below him. He couldn't have been more happy.

Turning his head slightly to the left, he saw that Shiori was eyeing him with slight amusement. Hiei suddenly realized that he had been hunching slowly out of his seat to lean onto the golden bar in front of him, completely immersed in Kurama's music. Blushing, he sat up completely and tried to ignore Shiori's soft giggling behind her hand. Hiei looked at his hands in his lap, and was surprised when his lover's ningen mother put her hand on his. "Hiei-san."

The said boy looked up shyly. "Hai, Minamino-san?"

Shiori smiled kindly at the blushing boy. "Hiei, I know you're feelings for my son."

Hiei's ruby-red eyes widened in shock, causing Shiori to chuckle in amusement. "Don't act so surprised. It's practically written all over your face. I just wanted you to know that I know you love him dearly, and I give you my complete support. Just promise me one thing."

"Anything you want."

"Don't leave him, and never let him leave you. You two are too cute together, so don't let anyone ever steal you two from each other."

The petite prince let out a happy laugh. "You have my word that I will never let anything stand between us. I would rather die than be separated from Kur…Shuichi."

Shiori nodded her approval and turned her head to proudly watch her son's performance. Hiei smiled kindly and tried to follow her example but was rudely interrupted by a hard smack on the back by a larger hand. Growling her turned to his right to be greeted by Yusuke's face in front of his, grinning cheekily. "Ooohhh having some good quality time with your future mother, neh Brat Prince?"

Hiei's eyes narrowed into a deadly glare as he growled, "I've told you once. I've told you twice. I've told you over a hundred times. DON'T CALL ME THAT!"

Yusuke grinned. "Tsk tsk Hiei, you should really pay attention to your boyfriend. Just wait until I tell him that you were too busy yelling at me to watch his concert."

Kieko's hand suddenly slammed down onto her boyfriend's cheek. "SHUT UP BAKA!"

Hiei chuckled slightly behind his hand, after disguising it cleverly as a cough of course.

*1 hour later *

Kurama stepped out of the performer's room only to be greeted with blinding flashes as arts newspaper reporters took his picture. ::Ningens. Always the same thing. I give one concert and those damn reporters have to take a thousand pictures of me. It's so irritating!:: thought Kurama bitterly.

The fox's dark attitude lifted though when he was his mother, lover, and friends literally punching the reporters out of the way so that they could reach him. Kurama smiled brilliantly at his friends and mother, but gave Hiei his special kind smile that he reserved for only the little fire prince. Hiei blushed under the smile, and the two lovers allowed Kuwabara and Yusuke to herd them along with the girls away from the reporters from hell, in Kurama's opinion.

Once in the park, Hiei looked at the fox. "Who were all those people? Is it normal for ningens to be that noisy?"

Kieko and Botan gave him confused looks. "Um…yeah. Duh. We all are noisy sometimes. And why do you sound like you're not a ningen?"

Hiei's eyes widened at the realization that he'd slipped, and was about to sputter out an excuse when a soft voice replied to the girls, "He means that we are so different from everyone here that to you we seem like aliens."

The prince turned to greet his savior, but Kuwabara beat him to her. "YUKINA! DID YOU MISS ME?! I HAVEN'T STOPPED THINKING ABOUT YOU SINCE THE DAY I FIRST SET EYES ON YOU!"

The said ice maiden blushed pale pink and smiled. "Hai Kazuma-san, I have thought of you as well. Oh, but I have forgotten to introduce myself to your friends! Hello, I am Yukina, Hiei's sister."

Botan squealed. "HIEI! YOU NEVER TOLD ME YOU HAD A SISTER! OH SHE'S SO ADORABLE!!!"

"And her hair is amazing! It's so full and thick!" Kieko added.

"And the color! You'll have to show me how to get it that color. Come with us and we can have some serious girl to girl chatting," replied Botan as she and Kieko dragged the confused ice maiden away.

Yusuke shook his head. "Girls. I'll never understand them."

"Me neither. Kinda creepy if you ask me. OH BUT YUKINA ISN'T! SHE IS AN ANGEL IN DISGUISE! A FAIR MAIDEN! A…"

"You touch her with your big ape hands and I will cut them off," growled Hiei.

Kurama chuckled. "Now now Hiei. Be nice. Come with me, I'd like to go for a walk alone if you don't mind."

Hiei nodded and the two walked off, trying their best to ignore the cheers and whistles coming from one of their friends, and the gagging noises from the other.

Once they were out of eyesight of the two teenage boys, Kurama pulled Hiei off the path, and into the dense trees. After a moment they could no longer see the path, and Kurama pulled his lover into a passionate kiss, back pressed against a nearby tree.

The red head moaned Hiei's name in the kiss as the fire demon's hands entwined themselves in his fiery locks. Suddenly Kurama pushed him back, causing Hiei to land ever so graciously on his behind. The prince looked up in confusion at the smirking fox, who was shaking his head from side to side. "Tsk tsk Hiei. You should really control yourself more."

Hiei pouted. "Excuse me. I thought that YOU were the one who started that whole scene just there."

Kurama grinned. "Only to get your attention. Anyway, didn't we say that we were going to take a walk, not make out against trees all afternoon. Besides, you owe me a performance."

The prince cocked his head to one side, greatly resembling a confused puppy. "What do you mean? When did I ever say I was going to perform for you?"

The red head pulled his face into a mock pout. "How could you possibly forget? That day when we were in the park you said that you played the violin and I told you that we were going to have to play together the next day. It's just that the next day you…had to go. Remember?"

Hiei looked down sadly, remembering that day when Yukina had come to take him home. "Hai. I remember now. I suppose I owe you one, don't I?"

Kurama frowned at Hiei's dark expression. "I was only teasing. You don't have to you know."

The prince looked up and smiled. "Oh! Don't think I don't want to. I just don't want you to feel depressed when I play better than you, that's all," he said with a cocky smirk.

Kurama laughed. "We'll see who plays better once we get you my spare violin."

Hiei literally whooshed off, and before Kurama could look around for his presence he was back carrying a black, violin shaped plastic case. "Will this one do?"

The fox's green eyes widened in shock, and then he laughed again. "Well, you're the eager one today aren't you?"

A sharp look was Hiei's only response as he unlatched the metallic locks of the case, and pulled out the dull brown violin. Looking at the instrument that Kurama was pulling out of his own dark blue clothed case (a/n: He brought this with him on the walk by the way ^_^;;;) which had been dangerously dropped during their recent escapade of passion, he saw with contempt that his borrowed spare was substantially poorer in quality than the violinist's. ::Oh well. I guess I'll let him think he's better than me for now,:: Hiei thought with a slight smirk.

Kurama raised an eyebrow. "What are you smirking about now? Don't even start thinking that you're better than me, because you aren't and you know it."

Hiei, ever so lovingly, responded to this with an almost death glare, but not quite. Unfortunately for him, this just caused Kurama to laugh even more. "Let's just play. I'm growing tired of your merciless teasing," he said with anxiousness.

The red head just chuckled again as he applied rosin to his ivory horse hair bow. "Patience, my beloved prince, is a virtue. One which you would take wisely in learning."

"You sound like a monk."

Kurama chuckled again. "I guess I do, don't I? Oh well. Monks are redeemed by society as scholars and wise counselors. Maybe I should be a monk when I grow up."

Hiei snorted. "Please. An ex-thief fox a monk? That's one I haven't heard before. You know, you have VERY strange aspirations."

Kurama mock bowed at this comment. "Thank you very much, I try, I really do."

"Patience may be a virtue you possess, but vanity is no sin for you."

The fox clutched his chest in an overly dramatic expression. "Oh! That one hurt, love. How can you be so cruel to the one you are destined to be with?"

Hiei rolled his eyes at Kurama's theatrics. "With stunning ease, as it turns out."

Kurama grinned and playfully tackled Hiei to the ground, gracefully missing the violin in his small hands, but ungracefully pushing his body into the dirt. "Stop being a jerk koi. It doesn't suit you nearly as much as you think it does."

Hiei pouted from his weak position under the fox. "Fine. Whatever, as you ningens say."

Kurama sighed. "I'm not a ningen remember? Get it right. I'm a FOX! FOX! Not NINGEN!"

The prince winced under the red head's loud words. "Don't you know the meaning of the word `soft'?"

"Nope. Sorry, I don't. Now what are you doing on the ground? Stop goofing around! You promised me a performance!!"

Hiei chose to ignore the fact that Kurama was once again playing dumb to his own actions, and rose into a standing position. Picking up the violin which lay on the ground next to him, he finished adjusting it so that he could play it, and then stood in front of his lover, waiting for instructions.

Kurama sighed again. "Ok, what do you want to play?"

The only response was a slightly sheepish grin from a certain petite prince.

Kurama, the ever-so-graceful Prince of Thieves, fell unceremoniously to the ground. "You don't know any songs?!?!"

"Ummm… not any ningen songs. I know! We can do a duet instead!"

The red head sighed for the third time in five minutes. "So much for my private entertainment. Fine. We'll do a simple, yet famous duet. You think you can handle the Canon in D major by Pachelbel?"

"If you have the music for my part then of course I can. I am, after all, a prince," Hiei said with confidence.

"Fortunately for you I have the second violin's part. And also fortunately for you I have memorized the first violin's part. I am, after all, a violinist."

"Then let the violinist and the prince create something wonderful and beautiful together for the first time."

Off into distance sang the notes of the duet, dancing together in the wind as the two destined lovers played their love song with one another. And so ended the tale of the Violinist and the Prince.

*Three years later *

Hiei smiled down at the wide eyed girl lying next to him. Kissing her softly on the head, he asked, "Did you like your bed time story, Kira-chan?"

The small girl, with her green eyes, black hair with red and silver streaks through it, yawned and nodded sleepily. "Hai, Too-san. Will you tell it to me again tomorrow night? And the night after that? And the night after that?"

Hiei laughed. "Of course. But I think it's past someone's bed time."

Kira groaned groggily. "But Too-san!!!! I'm not at all sleepy!!!"

The prince raised his eyebrow. "Really?"

The kit nodded. "Really really! See I'm not sleepy! I wanna hear the story…again…please…" she fell asleep before she ever finished her sentence.

Eyes twinkling with amusement and love, Hiei tucked the light blue blanket around his daughter, and softly walked out of her room. After quietly closing her door so as not to arouse Kira from her sleep, he turned and found himself face to face with a certain smiling fox. Ruby red eyes met grass green as Kurama smiled lovingly at his lover. "You told her the story?"

Hiei smiled back and wrapped his arms around the red head's slim waist. "Every word of it. She wants to here it again tomorrow night. And the night after that, and the night after that, to quote Kira."

Kurama laughed softly. "So I heard. Well, it seems our story was a success. No more complaints about boring prince and princess stories every night."

Hiei nodded, still smiling. "Hai. I suppose that problem has been solved."

Kurama took the prince's hand and led him away from their daughter's room. "And so now we must solve yet another problem."

Hiei laughed as he followed the red head to their room. "I feel as though I'm in a dream whenever I'm with you, Fox."

"Because we live in a fairy tale, koi. A fairy tale."

"Hai. The fairy tale of the Violinist and the Prince."
