Part III: A Very Weird Day

"Ah, ah, that wasn't very nice."

Shuuichi now was even more frozen. That voice…it was very familiar. He tilted his head up and gasped in surprise. He was gazing at the demon that used to…ah he didn't know. The demon he never got to see because he was nothing but his shadow. For the first time he was able to gaze into cold, emotionless amber eyes and see the face of the fox demon that resided in him before. This was odd. Of course it took him awhile to notice that he was in a very tight position.

He elbowed the fox demon in the stomach but it wasn't strong enough for the demon to let go. Shuuichi braced himself as he was flung to the ground. He sat up and glared at the kitsune.

"What'd you do that for?" Shuuichi exclaimed sitting up while giving the kitsune an evil look the best he could. Youko gave him a smirk.

"You wanted me to let you go so I let you go," the fox demon said simply.

"What? Is this revenge because you had to live in my head for the past sixteen years?"

Youko looked at him confused. He didn't remember anything of that sort and he knew that there were no memories erased from his mind.

"What are you talking about, human? I haven't been in your mind, nor anyone else's."

It was Shuuichi's turn to be surprised. He wondered if Youko actually has amnesia or something or something happened. Maybe he was in the past, but that would be impossible because…that would just be impossible. But as he looked around he saw that the Makai looked a little different. 'You've got to be joking…' Shuuichi thought.

"Um…where am I?" Shuuichi asked a bit hesitantly.

"The Makai," Youko answered. The demon wondered why he was answering to this human.

"And what was the most recent tragic event you've had?" Now that question was too far.

"None of your business, human." He stated coldly.

"No, please you have to tell me," Shuuichi begged. Youko really didn't want to answer this but this human he wondered why he couldn't resist.

"On a raid my friend died. Is there anything else you wish to know?" The kitsune was already annoyed and wondered why he didn't take this human against his will yet.

Shuuichi wasn't listening. In fact he was cursing every deity in the world. On the other hand he was thinking of a way back home and he needed to get back fast before his mother worried about him.

-------------------------------------------

Back in the present…

The others were also trying to find a way to take Shuuichi back. They don't know where he is but they're trying by testing with Youko, who was annoyed at being probed at. Koenma was about one second away from becoming food plant for the Death Tree. And Youko wouldn't hesitate to do it in a second. He could also add the annoying ferry girl and the bragging human along as a side dish. Actually that didn't seem to be a bad idea.

Right now the kitsune was trying to feel around for Shuuichi in case they might somehow be still connected. Though he wished he could be free of the human. Without the human emotions he probably would've already killed the three previously mentioned. Though he knew that Shuuichi would most likely agree with that. As much as his human counterpart didn't want to admit it, he'd love a little bloodshed from time to time. He could feel emotions. Mostly panic and somewhat relief. He knew that it wasn't coming from him so it must be Shuuichi. But he wondered where his previous human counter part could be.

Damn he was thinking too much. He needed to rest or better yet, steal something from Koenma's vault. Yeah, that would keep him satisfied for a while. He let a lazy smirk grace his face and stood up. Everyone was busy with something else so he didn't need to create a distraction. Besides he needed to see how much Koenma is willing to go for the change in the future. He knew exactly where Shuuichi was and getting flashbacks weren't really all that pleasant.

After successfully getting a random thing he went back to the others in Genkai's temple. He wondered how the old hag was still able to survive longer now since she'd been revived. How that was possible? It's best not to know. He sat on the corner twirling this little nice looking powerful dagger like a baton. This caught Hiei's attention. The fire demon's eyes narrowed and sent an accusing look towards the kitsune. Youko smirked back. His face saying, 'I just got a souvenir'. Hiei rolled his eyes thinking the thief crazy, though who didn't?

-------------------------------------------

Back in reikai Koenma was walking to his office and making sure that everything was in place. He saw the vault open and panicked. He looked inside and realized immediately something was stolen.

"BOTAN!"

-------------------------------------------

Botan flew into the temple. She was in a panic, though only Youko and Hiei knew why. Koenma sent her. It got Yuusuke and Kuwabara jumping thinking it's a mission. Botan shook her head.

"Koenma wants you to find something. It's been stolen a while ago. And he wants you to find it!" she exclaimed. Yuusuke did an anime fall.

"That's it?! And here I thought it was important," Yuusuke stated sarcastically and sat back down.

Youko looked at the now arguing pair and decided if he should just let it continue. Seeing them has proved some entertainment but slaying another demon(s) was much more fun. After about another hour of Yuusuke declining to go and search for what he had stolen he was about to give in before Youko threw it at Botan's feet. They all looked at it then at Youko who was sitting down with his arms crossed over his chest with his eyes closed and a smirk firmly planted on his face.

"Koenma is still dreadfully pathetic. It shows how much he cares for a simple human who just disappeared, doesn't it? Shows he cares more from getting scolded by his father than saving a couple lives. Here, I thought he might actually care. If he doesn't hurry up he will be responsible for two murders and more. If I go," Youko said holding up his semi-transparent arm that was flickering from solid to not, "so does the human. And if he goes, so does his mother. Now, a fair way to change the future isn't it? One wrong course could alter everything. Maybe then you wouldn't be alive detective and the whole world would've actually belonged to the Forbidden child. Koenma really has a handful and doesn't need to worry about a simple stolen item from his vault."

It was silent at the moment. Of course it was slowly processing in everyone's mind.

"I suggest you hurry, ferry girl, otherwise I doubt there'd be much time before the future actually becomes bleak." Youko spoke taking Botan out of her startled state.

"Oh right. I'll get going now." She said stuttering and going back to Reikai.

"Pft, slow people."
