Hi all!! Thank you for taking the time to read my story! I will try to keep undating till it is done. It is mainly for my friend Kellen who had her jeep broken into. I know that some of this is ooc but it is my first and I am trying to keep them in character and yet flow with the story. I hope you enjoy!!

Touch the Jeep and Die

 

Chapter 1:

 

Hiei paced the halls of King Enma's palace. The fire demon kept starting towards Koenma's office but then would turn back the other way or just keep on walking past the door. Since there were so many halls and rooms he could wander for hours in thought and no one would actually notice. As was the case on this day.

 

For some time Hiei had been listening to Kurama talk about how he enjoyed living in the human world. Yusuke enjoyed it too. Even Yukina loved making trips to visit Kuwabara because she not only got to see him but also loved spending time with humans. He was growing more curious to find out what the attraction was. How could mere humans attract creatures from Spirit World to their domain?

 

As he was deep in thought Hiei did not notice Botan walking towards him. She was rushing towards her office, thankful that Koenma had felt it time that the blue haired grim reaper have one since she seemed to be doing more and more paperwork for the Urameshi cases. They had turned one of the empty rooms of the palace into an office complete with a view of the rose garden out her window. She loved having a space to call her own. She noticed the koorime wandering with a far off look on his face like he was lost in thought.

 

“Hey Hiei, is everything ok?” she asked with a concerned look on her face.

 

“Huh? Oh yes everything is fine. I was just thinking of new ways to use the dragon flame.”

 

“Ok well see you later.” And with that she started walking down the hall humming a song by some human band. Hiei had listened to the cd before and he recognized the song to be by a band called Nickelback. He had really liked the song Botan was humming but would never admit it. Well at least they have decent music.

 

Finally his curiosity got the better of him and Hiei went to talk to Koenma. He walked into his office and saw teenage Koenma sitting at his desk talking to Kurama. Koenma seemed to be spending a lot more time in his teen form. Maybe he is just starting to grow up but he still needs to lose that damned pacifier. Both people at Koenma's desk turned to look at Hiei surprised to see him.

 

“Hello Hiei. It is nice to see you today.” Kurama said. Kurama and Hiei had been friends for a long time and the red head was someone that the shorter demon would trust with his life, although this was another thing that he would never voice. It is bad for the image of a bad ass that doesn't care that he keeps up.

 

Great, thought Hiei, I don't need Kurama finding out what I want to talk to the pacifier-loving freak about. He would have to come up with something fast or else Kurama would get suspicious.

 

“Hey Kurama. I heard you were here and came to see if you wanted to…spar later.” There was just enough of a pause for Kurama to catch but Koenma was oblivious as usual. Kurama figured out that Hiei wanted to talk to Koenma privately. He had learned to read Hiei like a book over the years that their friendship had grown.

 

“Sure. I am going to Botan's office for a bit. Come get me when you are ready.” It made sense that he would go there since she was his girlfriend. Their relationship had started shortly after the dark tournament and just grew from there. With that Kurama walked past Hiei out of the office winking at him as they made eye contact.

 

“Can I help you with something?” Koenma asked as Hiei still stood in the doorway.

 

“Actually yes you can,” Hiei said and stepped further into Koenma's office shutting the door behind him.

 

 

Sometime later Hiei stepped out of Koenma's office; a smile on his normally solemn face. His conversation with Koenma had gone better than he thought it would. He had money to get a place to live, get the things he needed like clothes, furnishings, and food. He even had enough money to get a used vehicle to go with the driver's license he was going to get.

 

He walked into Botan's office without knocking. With the speed that the two pulled away from each other Hiei knew that he had definitely interrupted something. Botan glared at him as she straightened her blouse. An evil grin spread across Hiei's face. If they wanted some privacy then they should lock the door.

 

“What do YOU want?” Botan asked not suppressing the anger in her voice at the unwanted interruption.

 

Kurama reached over and took her hand and spoke before Hiei could provoke her temper further.

 

“Remember I told you that Hiei would be coming by later because I agreed to spar with him today.” Leaning over he kissed her on the cheek. He rose and looked up at Hiei “Shall we go?” Still not giving him the chance to speak Kurama grabbed Hiei's arm and pulled him out of Botan's office yelling “See you later Hun, we'll finish our discussion later” as they disappeared.

 

When Kurama finally slowed down and let go of him, Hiei started laughing. He just loved seeing Kurama and Botan flustered. Sometime he thought he could see what Kurama saw in her. When she's mad her eyes twinkle so full of life. He quickly shook his head to get that thought out of his mind.

 

“What's so funny?” Kurama asked with a puzzled look on his face. It was kind of scary seeing Hiei so happy. The only times he had seen him this happy was when he let completely loose in a fight.

 

“Nothing, let's get going” Hiei answered still smiling and started walking again. As they were walking down the hall towards the training room Hiei went right instead of left. Kurama stopped dead in his tracks.

 

“Hiei are you lost? The training hall is the other way.”

 

Hiei turned around with a big smile. “We're heading to the human world.”

 

“You hate it down there. Why would you want to go without orders from Koenma? Wait is Yukina visiting Kuwabara again?”

 

“Nope, but you know how I love messing with that idiot. Actually I need to find a place to stay and get a car. Oh and I will need a roommate so that is you.”

 

“Wait a minute! First of all I don't think I can get the ok to move out from my mortal mother. Second of all…. WHAT? You are going to live with humans?! Does Koenma know and ok this?!”

 

“It is all worked out. So just come on I want to get going. I have lots to get done. I will explain it all on the way.” Hiei stopped smiling and looked up into Kurama's eyes. The look in his eyes was enough to send chills down the redhead's spine. “If you tell ANYONE about this I WILL kill you. Are we clear?”

 

“Crystal,” Kurama replied masking his nervousness.

 

Hiei's smile quickly came back to his face. “Perfect. Now come on. I need to find a place to stay and I want to try to find something called a used car to go with the license I am going to get. I want to try and find a type of car called a Jeep Cherokee. For some reason its' name is Lorado and it was born in 1987. I am told that it looks best in the color maroon. It also does something called off-roading. I don't know what that is though.”

 

It took a minute for Kurama to register what he had just heard. Hiei never talked this much about anything unless he was trading insults. This was quite a shock. He decided not to question Hiei further and just said, “Ok” and fell into step beside his friend. If this is what Hiei wants to do he will have my support.

 

With that they walked out the front door of Spirit world headed for Tokyo.
