Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Trapped between two girls. ❯ Good to bad to better.... ( Chapter 24 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

It had been three days since the attacks; both Heather and Kurama are doing well. There had been a daily visit to Yusuke's house from Kitty to check up on her friend who was bound to her bed because of her broken rib. Yusuke and Hiei have been watching over her while Kitty took care of Kurama, who was mending quite well, he was even able to walk well thanks to the help of nurse Kitty and her spells of healing though she wasn't about to let him return to school.
“Kurama stay!” Kitty said pointing to the bed as Kurama rose from his resting place to stand on his two feet and looked at her.
“Kitty, I am fine.” He tried to reassure her but she only sternly looked at him still pointing to the bed.
“No you need to rest at least one more day…then you can go to school…” Her voice trailed off as Kurama walked over and gently draped an arm over her shoulders looking down at the bed where he rested only moments ago. Lately, every time he touched her she felt like she could melt inside and that there were butterflies swarming in the pits of her stomach.
“I will be fine, and you will be right there with me remember?” Kurama had a comforting smile on his face as Kitty simply nodded in defeat.
`I can't argue with that logic…I don't even use logic so I guess I can't really fight logic with logic…did I just use logic? I'm confused….' Kitty mentally slapped herself out of her confusion.
“You owe me for this Kurama…” He let out a small chuckle as the two of them walked to the door without Kurama removing his arm from her shoulder until they both had to put on their shoes.
“So you think there will be a lot of work to make up?” They both grabbed their school bags and then headed out of the door and down the street.
“Most likely.” He said simply and Kitty reacted with an annoyed groan and a look of disappointment on her face.
“Why must teachers torture me so?” She shouted and held her hand up shaking her fist at no one in particular except maybe invisible teachers. People were staring at her and Kurama though she didn't seem to mind as she calmed down the closer the got to the school.
“Don't worry, it will not be that bad…I'm sure they will give us more then a day to finish the work.” Kitty yawned deeply nodding her head at the same time as they walked across the schoolyard, kids were whispering as they walked past them, they even were taking small glances at the two. Most of the girls were glaring rather cruelly at Kitty who glared right back.
`What's up with them not like I did anything…' They stopped at their lockers, got their books, and started for their first class.
As they walked in, they both noticed people were staring at them. Kitty walked for the last two seats in the back of the class and Kurama followed. After they were both seated Kitty asked,
“Is there something I am missing?”
“No, if you are then I am as well…” Kurama retorted as the teacher began the class.

Meanwhile, as the day passed on, Heather had started to attend school once more also. It was already second period and her as well as Yusuke and Kuwabara had Family and Consumer Science. The teacher was at the front of the class taking them through the next lab they there going to do which just so happened to be crumb cake.
“Now, the next step is to take the now firm butter.” The teacher grabbed the butter stick from the counter and held it in one hand while running her other hand up and down it.
“Yusuke…Kuwabara…” Heather whispered looking at the both of them and they all looked at each other.
“Don't say anything Heather…”
“We don't need you to start…” Kuwabara said but was only interrupted by her.
“Firm…and that butter is the wrong shape…and she is doing the wrong thing…” Heather had a wide smile on her face by now as she held herself back from cracking up, just as Yusuke was doing as well. Kuwabara let a small laugh escape before the teacher cleared her throat loudly making them all silence themselves and pay attention once more because the teacher was watching them like a hungry hawk stalking it's prey.

Kitty heard the final bell for lunch as she started to walk out into the yard looking around for Kurama.
“Ello?” She questioned and scanned the area with her hand over her eyes. Finally she spotted him waving at her from under the huge oak tree off to the side. A wide smile spread across her face as she literally skipped over to him, water bottle in hand, and took a seat against the tree trunk.
“So it isn't that bad being back here correct?” Kurama asked looking at her with a small smile.
“I guess not I mean we only have two extra assignments so far…” she responded and opened her water bottle taking a nice big swig of it. “But how's your stomach…?”
“It's doing rather well, I don't even notice it.” Kurama smiled a bit and continued to eat his lunch. The kids were still looking at them as one of them passed Kitty and Kurama whispering rather loudly.
“They make such a cute couple…” Kitty's eyes widened as she nearly spit out the water that was in her mouth.
`What?' She shouted within her head. After swallowing her water she looked over at Kurama who had slightly wider eyes then normal and even a blush was staining his soft cheeks.
“So I'm not the only one that just heard that?” Kitty asked and Kurama only shook his head as she also, noticed she was blushing.
`Great now I am blushing like I have sunburn…' She thought and looked away at the same moment as Kurama. `What would make people think that?' Though as soon as she asked herself that question a flash back of when she first met Kristen popped in her head and it only made her blush deepen. `That would explain it…' Quickly Kitty tried to control her blush and they continued to finish their lunches in silence.
“I, er…have to throw my bottle out I'll be right back.” Kurama looked at her for the first time in a few and by now the two of them had their blushes under control and he nodded. She stood up and left to the nearest trashcan. It was located at the corner of he building and she chucked the bottle at the trashcan, though she missed and it bounced off the side and into rolled onto the grass.
“What! That stupid little…” Kitty's voice trailed off into in audible mumbling as she went over and picked it up but when she stood up she saw a boy standing in front of her.
“Um…Hello?” She asked and had to take a step back because of how close the two of them where.
The boy looked at her with intense, striking icy blue eyes that seemed to be the only color on his face because of how pale his complexion was. Black bangs covered some of his left eye and his entire forehead while he stared at her without answering with a single word. Even if he weren't standing right in front of her, Kitty would have noticed him because his uniform was different, it wasn't the maroon red, no, it was the same uniform as Kuwabara's and his schools.
`What the hell…why is he here? Isn't he supposed to be in the other school…?' Kitty asked herself and began to walk away though she didn't get two steps without feeling a tight grip on her wrist.
“Don't let your guard down again next time we will not only hurt two of you but them all…keep away from Minamino or I won't show mercy… ” A deep, and emotionless voice said from behind her making her tense but as she turned around there was nothing there, not even a grip or a leaf from a tree. It was completely empty, the boy seemed to have vanished.
`What the heck was he talking about…hurt more and why do I have to stay away from Kurama…? Was he a demon or something? I didn't sense anything from him and I would have if there was something…' She shook it off as the bell for the next school period rang.
`I'll figure it out later…' Kitty thought once more before she sprinted over to Kurama, helped him up off of the ground and started to race for the school door still holding his hand. They both stopped at their lockers and then headed to their next class together. Kitty wasn't taking head to the warning at all.

The rest of the day went rather uneventful for the both of them, well all except the fact that the teachers needed to know what could be interpreted in a sick-minded way.
“Okay next time we have lessons like those, remind me not to be in the class room…” Kitty said as they were walking down the sidewalk to a place where Kurama wouldn't tell Kitty.
“I will try to…” Kurama said with a small-amused smile on his face. Kitty laughed lightly as she kept looking around at everybody passing by. They all seemed so happy and carefree but something was taunting her mind.
`I still can't get the guy off of my mind, it's like I can't even put my finger on it!' Kitty looked at the ground as she hissed slightly in frustration earning her an odd look from Kurama as he put her hand on her shoulder. It had been bugging her the entire day and now it was starting to frustrate her.
“Are you alright?” He questioned.
“Yeah sure…” She mumbled as an image of that boy popped in her head but it mainly focused on his eyed and how they were so cold and harsh. Then, for some odd and unknown reason, an image of that guy from before in the alley popped in her head. `Okay…that is just plain odd…'
“Are you sure…?” Kurama had a small look of concern on his face.
`She feels so tense…but if she's says she alright then she must be…maybe I should just take her home instead…' Kurama thought to himself as Kitty looked up at him with a smile that he knew was being force on her face.
“Yep I am just fine! So where are we going?” Kitty asked in a sweet tone as Kurama stopped walking and looked at the building that was to his left.
“Right here…” He said and looked at Kitty as she gazed at the building with now a real, and excited smile on her face as she looked at the video game machines on the other side of the glass. She let out a loud, happy squeak.
`Arcade!' Kitty shouted happily inside of her head.
“Thank you Kurama!” She shouted, as passing people paid no attention to her as she gave Kurama the biggest hug she could while still holding her bag of books from school. After he returned the hug they both headed into the building. Other students were hanging out from both the Junior High School and the High school. Kitty could recognize some of them as people she had seen in the hall but then could only recognize darkness as something covered her eyes.
“Um…Ello?” She asked.
“I have one more surprise for you.” Kurama whispered in her ear and yet again she wanted to melt as a shiver was sent up her spine from him being so close to her.
“Okay…should I be scared?” Kurama started to lead her through the crowd of kids.
“No, I think that you will like this surprise as well.” Kitty simply nodded her head and went with the flow until she felt herself stop and Kurama slowly let go of her eyes. She looked ahead of herself and could have sworn she heard holy music from the DDR Machine that was right in front of her. All she did was gawk at it as she moved to stand into the relevantly short line for her turn to play and Kurama stood right beside her with a smile on his face at her speechless reaction.
