Yusuke growled. “This is kinda like last time, only…” he didn’t stop his punch, and Kuwabara went crashing down. He turned to Botan.

“Okay, so what is it now?”

“Yusuke, there’s a problem. Koenma hasn’t eaten or slept since he got back.”

Yusuke blinked, eyes wide. “Are you serious?”

Botan nodded. “Unfortunately, yes.”

Yusuke swore. “How’re we gonna get out of THIS?”

Botan looked down. “Yusuke, you can’t… Koenma’s punishment was he couldn’t see you for two months. You can’t see him for five more weeks.”

Yusuke groaned. “But Botan, how was he able to not eat or sleep? Wouldn’t George have made him?”

“Everything George leaves him never gets touched. I try and make him sleep, but I hear his door open a minute after I leave. And now, he’s refused to leave his office. He’s obsessed with paperwork, and I… I-” she trailed off, starting to cry. Yusuke patted her shoulder awkwardly. “Its okay, Botan. He’ll be fine.”

“No he won’t,” Botan said stubbornly. “Do you remember how he was a few weeks ago? He’s worse!”

The others were listening silently. When Botan stopped talking, Hiei grunted and disappeared, heading off to somewhere.

Kurama sighed. He closed his eyes, and a rose grew out of the ground. He picked it up and handed it to Botan. Botan smiled slightly.

“Thank you, Kurama,” she said. “Well, I might as well go check on him again. I’ll come back next week.”

Then she rose into the air and went off to Reikai.

The next week, as Yusuke was watching TV, Botan arrived and entered the house. As she approached him, Yusuke sighed. “Still not working?”

Botan shook her head. “He’s working, just too much. Still the same as last week.”

Yusuke stood up. “Ok, I’m coming to Reikai. Let’s go.”

Botan shrugged, and the two of them entered Reikai. Botan knew Yusuke still wasn’t allowed, but she knew he’d find a way to come anyway.

“Koenma, I brought Yusuke,” Botan said, entering Koenma’s office.

Yusuke walked in and Koenma looked up.

He didn’t look much different, but Yusuke could tell something was wrong with him. His energy was low, and he was in teen form. As he saw Yusuke, blinked.

“Botan, you know I can’t see Yusuke for another four weeks. Why’d you bring him?”

“He insisted, sir,” Botan replied quietly.

“But we’re going to get in trouble for this for bringing him here if Dad finds out…”

Yusuke almost felt sad for him. He seemed scared to even mention his dad.

“If I’m going to be a problem, then I can leave,” Yusuke said.

As he turned to go, Koenma looked down.

“I don’t want you to go, but I guess you have to,” he heard Koenma whisper. Koenma stood up and left the room silently. Yusuke looked at Botan.

“Okay, what the heck was that?” Botan shrugged.

“He misses you, Yusuke. He really wants to see you, but his father won’t let him, and I don’t want to know what he’s going to do to himself for letting himself see you.”

Yusuke raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”

Botan looked nervous. “He wouldn’t let me heal his shoulder, and I think you know what’ll happen from there…”

Yusuke narrowed his eyes. “Oh no he won’t. I won’t let him. Screw what his father says, I’m bringin’ him back to my house, and I don’t care what he says!”

Botan shook her head. “Yusuke, this is King Enma we’re talking about!”

“Yeah, and would he be mad if somebody actually cared about his son?” Yusuke shot back. “He needs a friend, someone who can be there for him, and I don’t care what his Dad says!”

Koenma was listening to Yusuke right outside the door.

“I’m glad you care, Yusuke, but that doesn’t mean I deserve you yet…”

He hit his shoulder on the door and hissed in pain. Yusuke and Botan heard a thump, and Yusuke stared at Botan.

“Ok, what the heck was that?” he asked. Botan sighed.

“What he does when he’s in a mood. It’s what I mentioned earlier.”

Yusuke growled as they heard another thump. “Geez, that’s gotta hurt…”

Botan looked down. “I don’t know what’s wrong with him, Yusuke… There’s got to be something we can do!”

“That’s what I said earlier! He’s coming with me!” Yusuke said angrily.

“But I’m not sure if-”

“Oh, forget it! Koenma! Come over here!” Yusuke yelled.

Koenma opened the door and entered the office. “Yes, Yusuke?”

“I know you heard what I said. C’mon.”

“I- I can’t, Yusuke… I-”

Yusuke glared at him. “Botan’s been telling me how you’ve been doing, and I’m not liking what I’m hearing.”

“I’m sorry, Yusuke,” Koenma said softly. “But you have no idea of what happened…”

“That’s why you’re coming with me, and you’ll tell me all about it,” Yusuke said. “Now come on!”

Koenma froze. Sensui had said that. ‘Come on!’ After those words, he could only remember pain. He backed away from Yusuke. “D-don’t touch me…”

Yusuke stared at him. “What are you talking about? I don’t want to hurt you.”

“Yeah, right!” Koenma shot back. Then he covered his mouth. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” He retreated, but Botan was standing behind him.

“Koenma, there’s nothing to apologize for,” she said. “Are you alright?”

Koenma looked at Botan, then Yusuke, then fell to his knees. Yusuke knelt next to him. He wasn’t awake. Yusuke wasn’t sure if he was unconscious or not, though.

“I think he’s asleep,” he said softly. Botan smiled.

“Great! That’s the first time in four weeks!” she said happily. Yusuke stared at her, then looked back at Koenma.

“I can’t believe he’d do that to himself. I wonder what happened…”

“Well, let’s take him back to your house,” Botan said. “Some break from work would be okay. George can take care of the paperwork. Hopefully.”

Yusuke chuckled. “Okay, Botan, let’s go.” * * *

So, how do think this chapter turned out? I think there’s going to be a flashback in the next chapter, so that’ll be something new for this story. Sorry about the chapter title, I’m running out of chapter ideas. Oh well, I’ll think of something.

Next chapter up soon!
