Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Untitled ❯ Suspicions ( Chapter 3 )
Kuwabara carefully led Kurama through the dining room until they got into the entryway. Kuwabara then lifted Kurama up and proceeded to carry him up the stairs, being careful to avoid touching his leg. Kurama tensed up.
“Kuwabara, what are you doing?”
“Carrying you so we can get upstairs faster,” Kuwabara replied.
“I- I’m not used to someone carrying me…” Kurama said.
“Well, you can’t expect me to let you climb the stairs when you can’t see, can ya?”
Kurama felt a little strange. He felt an odd emotion that he couldn’t place. It was like he was happy that Kuwabara cared, even if he showed it in an odd way. It was like he wasn’t used to people caring about him like this, even though he did have a mother who did care about him.
No! He thought. That was his demon side thinking. But when he remembered being a demon, he remembered the fight he had had with Yusuke.
They had arrived in Kuwabara’s room.
“Kuwabara, about what I was saying earlier,” Kurama said as Kuwabara put him down on the bed.
“Is Yusuke mad because since I’m a demon, he thinks I can heal myself and I’m just being stupid or something?”
“I don’t think so,” Kuwabara said. “And if he does, he shouldn’t, because it’s harder to do your demon stuff in a human body, right?”
Kurama made a small smile. “You’ve been paying attention to Koenma and Master Genkai, I see.”
Kuwabara laughed. “Well, as long as I have two friends, well… almost friends who are demons, I guessed I should learn stuff about them.”
“Do you mean Hiei by ‘almost’ friends?”
“Yeah, of course.”
Kurama laughed. “I should have known. Kuwabara, I’m glad you’re my friend…”
Kuwabara smiled, but then turned serious.
“Okay, Kurama, but now I gotta ask you something. How’s your shoulder feeling?”
Kurama paused. He didn’t feel his shoulder at all! He had been so happy talking to Kuwabara that he had forgotten all about his shoulder!
“I don’t really feel anything, Kuwabara, just the dull sting.”
Kuwabara smiled. “That’s good. Now lets go back downstairs before my parents ask us what we’re doing up here.”
“But I can’t see!” Kurama cried. Kuwabara frowned.
“I don’t know how to help that…” he mumbled. “Just great…”
They heard a knock at the window. Kuwabara looked over and saw Hiei sitting on the windowsill.
“I can help you,” Hiei said. “I can use my Jagan to help you to see while your body waits for your eyes to start to work again.”
“Thanks, Hiei,” Kurama said.
Hiei’s headband started to glow purple, and Kurama started to see, a bit dimly, but he could see.
“Okay, so should we go downstairs again?” Kurama asked, looking over at Kuwabara.
Kuwabara nodded.
As they made their way downstairs, Kuwabara’s parents were talking about their son and his friend.
“It seems kind of odd that Kuwabara always seems to pause before he says his friend’s name, and he called him ‘Kurama’ two or three times when the power went out,” Kuwabara’s mother said.
“Yes, and he seemed to be very displeased with himself when he realized we heard,” his father said.
“Um… if I may add a comment, when I grabbed his shoulder when the power went out, I heard him moan, and I didn’t even touch him that hard…” Shizuru said softly. * * *
So, how do think this chapter is? I know it’s shorter, but I wanted to keep one idea for this chapter, and not spread out and get confusing.
