“And now Baldock is HUNGRY!”

Kurama backed away, preparing for battle. He knew this wasn’t going to be pretty…

THIS CHAPTER:

“So what is you gonna do?” Baldock asked.

(I’m not even sure if this is something he would say, but he doesn’t make any big appearances with talking, you know. Just two pages in the manga.)

Kurama slowly reached for his rose. Baldock looked confused, but then grinned, showing off his fangs.

“How abouts Baldock just kill you now?”

Kurama narrowed his eyes.

“I don’t think so,” he said softly, and drew his rosewhip.

Baldock was surprised.

“You is Yoko!” he exclaimed. “But… why do you not look like Yoko?”

“None of your business,” Kurama said softly. “Now, do you wish to leave in one piece?”

Baldock wasn’t paying attention. His eyes were scanning over Kurama’s outfit. It had holes in it where it had gotten hit by Karasu’s bombs.

“Lord Karasu got you, did he not?” Baldock asked playfully.

Kurama narrowed his eyes. “Why do you care?”

Baldock just grinned. He knew Karasu’s style.

He jumped down from the tree. Kurama tensed up and raised the whip warningly. Baldock gently tapped his shoulder, and while Kurama tried to bat him away, (pun maybe intended,) kicked him in the back.

Kurama cried out and sank to his knees, feeling both intense pain in his back, and being ashamed of showing weakness to an enemy. He then felt very angry. Not at a specific thing, but just angry. He would show this pathetic bat demon what power was.

He stood, and his spirit energy flamed up. Baldock stepped back, sensing Kurama’s anger. Kurama raised the rosewhip, then slashed at Baldock.

It wrapped around and hit Baldock on the back, causing him to roar in surprise. Kurama just kept slashing with the rosewhip, not even looking where he was hitting. He didn’t even hear Yusuke and Kuwabara as they entered the clearing.

“Kurama!”

Kurama turned and saw his friends. But he didn’t recognize them as he was still controlled by blinding anger. He raised the rosewhip again. He saw the nervous look on Kuwabara’s face, and determination on Yusuke’s.

“I’m really sorry, Kurama!” Yusuke yelled, concentrating on his Spirit Gun.

He shot it, and it hit dead-on.

Kurama swayed for a moment, then fell to the ground, unconscious. The rosewhip disappeared, and Baldock scurried away.   * * *    

“Kurama? Are you alright?”

One green eye opened, then another. Kurama sat up, rubbing his forehead.

“Y-Yusuke? What happened?”

“You were really mad, and you were gonna hit us with your rosewhip,” Kuwabara said.

Kurama seemed shocked.

“I- I would never do that! You know I wouldn’t!”

Yusuke put a hand on Kurama’s good shoulder.

“It’s okay, Kurama. You couldn’t recognize us, for some reason, so I knocked you back to your senses.”

“I didn’t hit you, did I?” Kurama asked. Yusuke shook his head.

“No, you didn’t. I… umm… hit you with my Spirit Gun to knock you out. Sorry if it hurt, buddy.”

“No, I’m alright, let’s just get going.”

He slowly stood up, but winced as his back moved. Yusuke frowned.

He went around and lifted Kurama’s shirt to look at his back. Kurama blushed slightly.

“Yusuke…”

Yusuke shook his head.

“You injured it. What happened?”

“I tried to sit on a fallen tree but it… moved, and it scraped my back. Then Baldock-”

“BALDOCK!?” Yusuke exclaimed. “But I killed him!”

Kurama sighed.

“I know, but he said he had been resurrected by another demon.”

Yusuke sighed. “Ok. What did he do?”

“He kicked me in the back.”

Kuwabara shuddered. “That’s gotta hurt.”

Kurama nodded. “Yes, but come on, let’s go.”

They continued walking, Kurama in the lead, Kuwabara behind him, and Yusuke in the back. * * *
