Chapter Five: The Airport
Kaline's POV
"You want me to get on that?" Hiei wanted to know, pointing at an airplane. The whole group was at the airport. Koenma, Botan, Jin and Touya were all talking amongst themselves, Yusuke was hitting on Keiko, Kuwabara was talking to Yukina, and Hiei, Cassie, Kurama and I were looking at the window. We had all gotten our luggage checked in, so all we had to do was wait until we could board the plane.
Yusuke and Kuwabara were dressed in Hawaiian-print shirts and shorts down to their knees. Jin and Touya were wearing their usual, fighting clothes. Kurama was in jeans and a t-shirt. Hiei and Koenma were wearing what they always did: all black for Hiei, and the strange blue tunic and pants for Koenma. Botan, Keiko, Cassie and I were wearing shorts and t-shirts, but Yukina was wearing her normal kimono.
"Yes and no," I replied. "That's not the plane we'll be getting on, but it'll be very much like that one."
"Except our plane will be bigger," Cassie added. "And we even have first class seats."
"Which means that there are only two seats per row on each side," Kurama said. "That gives us more room to move and breath."
"Hn. So how do I get on the stupid thing?" Hiei asked. "I don't see any doors."
Kurama chuckled at his friend's lack of human knowledge. "When the plane is ready to be boarded, we will go through that doorway," -Kurama gestured to the tunnel that would lead to the plane- "And we'll walk down a hallway and end up in the plane."
"I can not wait till we get to Hawaii!" I exclaimed, excited already. "I have so needed a vacation for such a long time."
"Don't forget that we have a very long trip. It's going to take quite a few hours for us to get there," Cassie reminded me.
I sighed. "I know, but I'm gonna have to congratulate Kuwabara on being so lucky. A one-week stay in Hawaii in some kind of private villa that's right by the beach and $1,000 spending money for each of us... not to mention first class tickets. This is going to be a trip to remember."
"Do you think Kuwabara's ever going to hand out the tickets?" Cassie wondered, looking over at the carrot-top.
"You can always go ask him, although getting him to stop flirting with Yukina is going to be hard," I responded, shaking my head at the boy sadly.
"The baka better leave her alone," Hiei growled, leaving his spot by the window and walking over to his sister and Kuwabara.
"Kurama, Hiei did leave his sword at home, right?" I inquired, nervous. "He didn't sneak it past security, did he?"
"No," Kurama answered. "He left it at my house."
I let out my breath that I had been holding in. "Thank goodness."
"Don't relax just yet," Cassie suggested. "Look." She pointed at Kuwabara, who was running from a very angry looking Hiei. Yukina was just watching the two boys, lost as to why they were fighting.
"You wanna grab Kuwabara or Hiei?" I asked her. "We're gonna have to stop them now, before security comes."
"Hiei," Cassie replied immediately.
Right then, Kuwabara ran right past me, and I grabbed the back of his shirt. I held on tight as Kuwabara kept on trying to run.
As Hiei grinned an approached the now helpless Kuwabara, Cassie grabbed onto Hiei's black cloak.
"I don't think that it would be a good time to hurt him," she told the fire demon calmly. "First of all, he has the tickets. Second, it's not a good idea to fight in public. At least wait until we're in Hawaii and in some private place before you kick his butt."
"Hn," Hiei replied, crossing his arms. He didn't look happy, but he did as Cassie asked. "The baka's just a waste of my time anyway."
"Why don't you say that to my face, shrimp!" Kuwabara shouted in a challenge, trying to pull out of my grip.
"Not now!" I snapped at him. "I will not have either of you two ruining this vacation. And you, Kuwabara... I don't even care if you were the one who won this little trip. You shouldn't fight in public. Do whatever you want in private, just don't ruin my vacation."
Luckily, we were saved by an announcement. "Will all passengers boarding Flight 342 to Hawaii please come to gate seven?"
"That'd be us," Cassie said cheerfully.
"Oh, I guess I'd better hand out the tickets then," Kuwabara stated, taking some pieces of paper out of his pocket. He began to hand them out in a specific order, which I found interesting. Kuwabara had obviously planned out where he wanted people to sit. The carrot-top was up to something.
"What's this for, biggie?" Jin asked Kuwabara in his thick, Irish accent.
"You need it to get on the plane," he answered. "You just show it to the lady by the gate, and then you board the plane."
"Very well. That sounds simple enough," Jin responded, getting in line behind me and Cassie.
Everyone quickly got in line, and soon we were all on the plane, taking up the entire first class section. The seating arrangements were strange, and I had a feeling that Kuwabara was going to be dead once we landed. Kuwabara and Yukina were sitting in the first two seats on the right side. Jin and Touya were across from them. Yusuke and Keiko were behind Kuwabara and Yukina. Koenma and Botan were behind Jin and Touya. Hiei and Cassie were behind Koenma and Botan, while Kurama and I were across from the fire demon and my friend.
"This is going to be a very... interesting flight," I whispered in Kurama's ear as I buckled in. "Hiei's going to be furious. I'm not all that happy either. He stuck Cassie and Hiei together." I had a window seat, while Cassie didn't, which meant that there was an aisle along with Kurama separating us.
"Hey, Cassie," I said, leaning forward so I could see her around Kurama. "You okay over there?"
She nervously looked over at the fuming fire demon. "I believe so," she replied, voice calm and firm.
"Okay," I responded, leaning back up. There was one predominant thought on my mind at that moment. 'If Cassie gets hurt in ANY way by Hiei, Kuwabara is so going to pay.'
