A/N: Right! This chapter is in the point of view of Mina's friend Tsuki! (Known as `Greenie' because of her pastel green hair - Mina's nickname is `Sparky') If you're still not sure then please go to mediaminer.org and look up my name (Dark Ice Maiden)

~*Begin chapter!*~

She's been for almost a week now…Ami had disappeared too - but I was filled in with the details about her. Man I was not pleased about that.

"You created a what??" My eyes bulged out in shock.

"A genetically modified plant" Shuichi tried to calm me down when he got back from where ever he went to.

"Wow that's pretty cool if you ask me, if I could do that….I'd create 10 girlfriends!" Kuwabara went into one of those `perverted' worlds of his. Yusuke quipped him harshly.

"Yea, just think….you'd have to keep watering them and keep them away from parasites…oh wait! I guess they'll have to steer clear of you then! HAHA!"

I gave up trying to separate those two and carried on trying to figure out where Sparky had gone.

"It's a good thing that Lady Genkai had told Mrs Asako that she was staying here for finish the `community' chores. Keiko had mentioned that before Mina went missing that she seemed slightly `distressed' over something - maybe it's her phobia or -"

"I don't know why you're worrying over a hot-head like your Ningen friend….she's probably ran off with one of her family members"

"Ha ha Hiei thanks for the sarcasm but Mina wouldn't just `run away' - unless there's a fox smack dab in front of her."

I noticed that Shuichi's eyes `flinched' when I remarked - does he know anything about her disappearance?

"I've got to go, my mother's probably worried where I've got to - I don't want her falling ill again"

"Alright Kurama I, if you hear anything just tell us on the communicator?"

"Yes Yusuke…I will"

Did he just call him `Kurama'?

A few moments later a very panicky Koenma appeared from out the blue, nearly giving me a heart attack! Something about `Elementals'? what are they?

"They're super beings, guardians of the elements in Makai and they want their staff back!" He whined, almost bawling into crocodile tears.

"Oh no, there's no way I'm getting off of my ass from my R and R just to sort your problems Koenma! I've got dibs on the remote tonight for the slamfest marathon!"

"Yusuke, if they don't get that sapphire staff back…..they'll split the whole planet into four whole domains! You know what that means?? They'll become lords of mankind and demonkind!"

"Your point?"

"Yusuke you ungrateful bastard!! What if Keiko is taken by Hiyama!?? He collects women for fun!"

That soon made him shift his butt! Botan; who was just outside the temple door near the garden, told us where one of the elementals was - Tsuchi to be precise…

According to Koenma, there were demons out there that collected humans like crime lords collected Yukina's tears - for the fact that we could fetch a few thousand yen in the black market.

"Please Koenma sir; I would like to go with them. Kuwabara's sensed a human's spirit energy; it might be Mina's or worse - an innocent civilian."

I can't believe I'm begging to a toddler. #sweat drops#

"Tsuki I know you two are like sisters but we can't afford to make any mistakes. However I will let you through a port-hole if the detectives see any potential victim."

"Thank you sir; you won't regret it!"

"I hope not - I don't want my father finding out about this….he'll kill me!!"

Then the little midget told me to go and see where Shuichi had got to whilst Hiei, Yusuke and Kuwabara went to a `safe' area in the Makai realm. Well someone had to keep those two dimwits alive, #blushing# and it was Hiei.

A few moments later as I was walking towards where my friend was last found - Shuichi's house. I recalled a conversation he once had with Hiei back at school a few days ago whilst at the time; I was trying to find as much info as I could for her.

She said that she had no `feelings' for such a person but I could see it, a small if even a glimmer of those emotions would spring out when I used to go round to her apartment in the weekends.

Anyways, he kept telling Hiei about some sort of `test' he was doing for a project he just happened to be working on at the time; Shuichi had not only openly suggested to have Mina as his partner…..but he mentioned about seeing if it was possible to distinguish the difference between a personality that was dominated by the heart, and one that was dominated by logic only.

Could that mean…..

#chuckles to herself nervously#

It couldn't be, that's like studying someone with a split persona.

As one would say - `study a disease to cure your own'.

I spotted him just coming out of his house. He looked…sort of surprised to see me.

"Shuichi, Koenma wanted to go to the Makai to where Tsuchi is. The rest of the detectives are waiting for you as well by a grove. He also said that there might be a potential hostage too - Human."

"I see"

He paused, almost going into deep thought before I changed the subject.

"Mina was….troubled before her disappearance. Keiko told me about some Yoko incident that was stalking sparky - I mean Mina. I know you two haven't been the closest of acquaints but did she mention anything about where she was going or talk to you about those wounds?"

Although it appears so clearly, there was a guilty silence that clung to the still air.

"I don't think….he would harm her as such. Statistically speaking he would try to make her stronger but I think it would be best that she came home; the Makai realm can distort characteristics of a normal Ningen if they stayed far too long…"

"Meaning?"

"She'll think like them, her heart will harden and her mind will turn to basic needs"

Something was still bothering me, why was me telling about her safety? He disliked her for all we knew, or was something amiss?

We both left to go back to Genkai's when he asked me to go with him and the others (I was quite honoured at that! YAY! ) *giggles to herself* I'll get to see Hiei in action!

When we got there the portal was ready and waiting for us to jump through (Genkai was lighting a fag at the time but that's not important!).

"What's she doing here!?? She'll fuck up the mission! Besides, didn't Koenma telling you to specifically stay on the other side unless needed!? "

Yusuke exclaimed, clearly pointing the finger at me as if I the girl that killed the class hamster.

Hiei butted in, simply telling that I might be of use to them if say, Mina was there and needed convincing to come back with us.

Kuwabara didn't seem to mind - kept telling me to stay close to him (As if! He's been at the take-away curry! That's like me standing next to an atom bomb.

"Uh, no offence but uh….I'll stay near to Hiei and Yusuke - they're more….how you say `environmentally friendly'"

"Oh yeah, Hiei hacks away and anything and everything whilst Yusuke has no respect for dirt itself!"

"Whatever Kuwabara, let's just get the stupid staff, find the human hostage and blow this joint ok!?"

#Sighs# I wish Yusuke and Kuwabara would stop fighting over the silliest things.

What was the scenery like you ask? Well, it looks more like a dessert grassland with tiny little reptiles - uh scrap that, they're actually lesser demons of the lizard species. I know only a little about types of demons and the supernatural but only because of Mina's mum! She took us out one night to her father's (mina's grandfather) and there, in a cage was badger Youkai!

Apparently Mr Haku (his first name was Shogun) was out that night watering his garden in this shrine he owns when it came and attacked him! But then again…he did have a tendency to be a wind up merchant.

"Tsuki, if you could just not space out for a split second, I want you to hide behind that rock over there"

"Why Kuwabara?"

"I have a funny feeling that we're being watched"

Without further ado, I scampered behind the rock.

Suddenly there was a low growl and the ground underneath us was cracking! I was frozen to the spot whilst the others were there, cool and collected; waited for whoever to appear. Yusuke was mumbling along the lines of:- "why don't this bloody thing show up already!?"

"What are you lot doing here!!?? It's not safe!!" came the cry of a familiar voice.

I shrilled worriedly "Mina?....MINA!!!"

She was battered to pieces! I could see a few bones were broken but her being stubborn; she was near-enough limping. Shuichi told the others to keep an eye out for Tsuchi - she might be using Mina to lower our guard.

"H-how did you get into such a state Sparky?" I gently sat her down by the greenery, behind the rock. "You have so many bite marks and god knows what, I can't tell the difference between picture wounds and bruises!"

She was wheezing a bit, but her humour was still unchanged.

"That's because your blind stupid. Look, tell the others that it's not Tsuchi they want…it's Hiyama they want. He's the brains behind the operation."

Shuichi over heard us talking and signalled the others to listen in.

"You have to come back with us, Shuichi said that if you stay here any longer your mind will switch to demon mode." I was trying to convince her to come home.

Mina brushed her hair back with her fingers.

"Look, I can't go back. I've gotta stay here and tell Youko about that staff and that I'm ok, I just managed to escape her grasp but by the time I got out the green house, the whole place was covered in molten lava, It's horrible Tsuki. The screams, the smell of rotting….the running was painful too!

"Still don't like Pe do you Mina." Yusuke interrupted, flinging her over his shoulder to go home (that must be so painful, she was swearing her head off at him!)

"What the hell are you doing?? He's probably looking for me!!"

"Oh don't worry, I'm sure he'll find you in plenty of time"

"Who asked you Book-boy!"

"Y'know your English teacher?"

"What about her Kuwabara?"

"She told me that you've got 3 months of DT"

"WHAAAT!?? DAMMIT!!! HOW!??"

"Kurama covered up for you by saying that you were ill"

"Uh, yeah…thanks Book-boy"

"My name Is Kur-I mean Shuichi"

"Whatever book-boy"

Oh my….if it wasn't for the fact they were both blushing, I would of sworn they were having a blazing row #sweatdrops#.

A/N:- hmmm….ok I know I'm not good at `fight-scenes' but I'm gonna try!

Next chapter: Mina's thinking about two certain people whilst in Genkai's temple (chasing demon dust bunnies aren't exactly helping either). Also, Whilst in DT, a clue about the staff is about to emerge and who the hell are these new kids that started her school?? Read and review!
