Yu Yu Hakusho Fan Fiction ❯ Worthless Onna ❯ Childish ( Chapter 7 )

The smile on your face disappeared as you walked further into the forest under the shade of the trees. When sunlight finally peered through you looked up and found yourself in an enormous clearing with a lake and the tallest oak tree you've ever laid eyes on. Hanging from a thick branch by a worn out rope was a tire swing. You wiped off some of the dust and pulled yourself on, pushing forward and enjoying the sudden breeze. /I can't believe I lost control like that...such a baka.../ you thought, sighing.
/Yes, you are./
You jolted up from the sound of that voice. Your depression quickly switched to annoyance, knowing very well that wherever Hiei was he was smirking right about now. /Damn him./ You grunted and tightened your grip on the rope as you swung higher, resisting the urge to laugh out loud like a child. Instead you removed your shirt and pants, relieved you'd been a tomboy and dressed in a sport's bra and boxers today, and swung as high as you could before doing cannonball into the lake. You did that several more times until you finally stayed in and drifted for about an hour. You got out shivering and concentrated on removing the moisture from you before changing and retreating to the swing again. You watched the sunset and the sky slowly darken before you finally got a grip on yourself and jumped from the swing. You tucked your hands in your pockets and walked along the path that would bring you to the gang's place...home.
When you came inside everyone shot you a glare. You replied with a sheepish smile and slowly backed into the kitchen with a [Anime Sweat Drop] on your head. Kurama was also in there and said he just put dinner in the oven and it would be a while before it was ready, so everyone piled into the living room for TV. As the commercials played everyone began to talk about your fight with Hiei.
"...But Amaya, you could've killed yourself and Hiei! Hadn't you proven yourself enough?"
"Please Red, I wasn't going to just give in!"
"But you still lost," Hiei said smirking. Immediately you glared and surprised Hiei by tackling him. Kuwabara and Yusukue tried to hold you off, but you only pried yourself off and lunged again. When they finally gave in and watched with [Anime Sweat Drops] on their heads you two rolled on the floor punching and kicking. Kurama came in seconds later and pulled Hiei away and Yusukue and Kuwabara returned to hold a jerking you.
Hiei growled at Kurama and glared at you while barking, "Well don't look at me, it's the Onna's fault."
"Nani!? You, you teme! You're the one picking fights around here!"
"At least I can finish them!"
"That's it!" You lunged again and the rolling presumed as everyone else sighed in defeat. Suddenly the oven beeped, however, and your head poked out of the fight cloud and you ran off to the kitchen yelling, "FOOD!" Everyone followed shaking their heads and throughout the meal Hiei and you avoided eye contact and conversation. Well, speaking anyway. You sighed after having your fill and after washing your dishes you waved to everyone, blowing a raspberry at Hiei, and left to shower. You didn't feel like lounging so you got in and out and came down the stairs twenty minutes later in sweats and a towel on your head.
There were four girls standing in front of the doorway.
The first two you sensed were human, one older and taller with long brown hair as well as the younger one whose hair was shoulder length with brown eyes. The next was smiling away with the utmost enthusiasm, and she was tall with blue hair tied in a high ponytail and pink eyes. The last one Kuwabara was all over. You sensed she was a demon, an ice apparition, with mint green hair tied in a low ponytail and familiar amber eyes that you couldn't quite place. Nonetheless, Kurama discovered you when your foot hit a squeaky step.
"Amaya! C'mon, I'll introduce you," he said smiling and walked you over where you received a handshake from the girls, except for the blue-haired one who forced you into a hug. After intros were over you discovered the oldest human was none other than Kuwabara's older sister, Shizuru, and the younger one also surprised you finding she was Yusukue's girlfriend, Keiko Ukimura. You thought you'd collapse when you found out that that bubbly, ditsy blue-haired girl, Botan, was the Grim Reaper who worked for Koenma, though. Lastly the ice apparition who Kuwabara was still sucking up to was Yukina. You found yourself an hour later in the living room where everyone was laughing and enjoying themselves, but you and Hiei were twitching and bloodthirsty due to the topic of conversation.
"It's funny how much those two are alike. She is as stubborn as he is and won't deny a challenge or let herself quit. She is easily angered and almost never talks or comes out of her room." Yusukue, Kuwabara, and even Kurama agreed laughing as you and Hiei got [Anime Veins].
You grit your teeth, suddenly clearing your throat and getting everyones' attention. "Hai, hai, I think they get the point. There is one thing I don't understand," you paused and looked directly at Hiei for the first time all night. "Why did you hold back? Hell, why didn't you kill me?"
[Eye Twitch] "I was testing you, nothing more," he said still focused on what was outside the window.
"What about your whole threat to kill me?"
"Hn. I was lying, obviously. It's your fault for starting something you couldn't finish."
You bit your lip to keep from protesting and sighed muttering, "Arigatou."
Surprised, Hiei and you had a moment of silent, expressionless staring before Botan and the two bakas awed Hiei out of the room. Everyone else decided to change the subject and put in a movie.
A yawn escaped your mouth halfway through and you waved to the others and left with your hands tucked behind your head.
Zzz.
