“Kiyo…I grew up…” Zatch had definitely changed.
Zatch was no longer just a small little boy, but he had taken on the form of an adolescent. He still had his yellow hair and big glowing eyes. But he stood taller, nearly double his original size, and he reached Kiyo's shoulder in height. He had lost the chubby kiddy look and his arms and legs were more fit and stronger. His little blue robe was straining against his chest, and the hem barely even reached above his knees.
“What do you think, Zatch?” Kiyo asked. “I guess that spell is an upgrade or something! You look like an 11 or 12 year old, now!”
“Kiyo… I wanna go back!” Zatch was touching his face, still surprised. “I wanna go back to being Zatch!”
“But you are Zatch!” Kiyo put his arm around, Zatch's shoulder. “You're just bigger! I'll bet you're even stronger now!”
“But Kiyo…”
“Maybe this will improve your spells too. Why don't we give it a try?”
“First change me back!!!” Zatch demanded.
“Come on Zatch, let's try a few spells, and then I'll change you back, okay?”
“Kiyo!!!” Zatch growled at him. “I don't like being big!”
“Come on, Zatch, you didn't even give it a chance, yet!”
Zatch began jumping up and down, stomping the ground in a tantrum. “I don't have to! I don't wanna be big, and that's all there is to it!!”
“Now, Zatch, you're a big boy now, so act like it!” Kiyo scolded. Zatch stopped and looked at him. “I can respect a big boy if he's acting like a little kid!”
Zatch narrowed his eyes. “What are you getting at?”
“And big kids can go to the park all by themselves! And they get to stay up later, and have more deserts, and they get to…umm… drink coffee!” Kiyo continued.
Zatch stared at him, then back at his reflection. “Okay, Kiyo… I'll stay like this, but only for a little!”
“At a boy, Zatch! You'll see, it's a lot more fun being older! Now let's practice some spells!”
“And then you'll take me to the park?” Zatch asked hopefully.
“I don't have to, you can go all by yourself!”

“ZAKERE!!!” Kiyo shouted, throwing a brick into the air. Zatch's eyes rolled back and he shots a blast of lightning into the air. But now that he was bigger, his Zakere was much wider and powerful, annihilating all the bricks that Kiyo threw for target practice.
“Okay, Zatch. Now let's try RA SHIELD!” Kiyo threw another block at Zatch. Zatch immediately brought up a shield, bigger than usual. It took the brick in, then shot it back while spouting out an entire blaze of lightning.
“Wow, Kiyo!” Zatch giggled and clapped his hands. “You're right, that spell might be just what I need to become the king! Let's try a Jikedor, now, ok?”
“Right Zatch. Make sure to focus on that old trash bin, alright?! Ready?! JIKEDOR!” As Kiyo shouted, a small ball spouted out of Zatch's mouth and enveloped the trash can. Immediately things went flying towards it. Pipes, nails, tubes, beams, everything made of metal crashed into the bin, completely crushing it. Even the old pick up and other vehicles were rolling slowly toward the gravity center.
“That was great, Zatch!” Kiyo smiled. “I told you being bigger was good.”
“You're right, Kiyo! Thanks for reading it! Look what I can do!” Zatch flipped and began walking on his hands. He pushed and propelled himself into the air, landing on rooftop of the truck where Kiyo had first read the spell. “Tada!”
“That was really good, Zatch!”
“Kiyo… my clothes don't fit right… Can we go get me something else to wear?”
“Sure Zatch. Come on, you can have some of my old things.” Kiyo began walking off and beckoned to his mamodo. “Come on, let's go!”
“Hey Kiyo!” Zatch dashed at him. Kiyo turned and caught him.
Kiyo stumbled a little under Zatch's weight. “Wow, you've gotten heavier, I won't be able to carry you very far, maybe it's better if you walk…”
“Aww…come on Kiyo… Carry me!”
“Come on Zatch… Get off!”
“Uh uh… I'm tired! You have to-… Ahh…” Zatch paused and sighed. He leaned on Kiyo's chest and his arms went limp. “Okay…Kiyo… Whatever you say… I'll walk if it makes you happy.”
“Huh?” Kiyo watched as Zatch slid off and stood next to him. “Zatch, are you feeling okay?”
Zatch looked at Kiyo and gave him a huge quirky grin. “Of course I'm okay, Kiyo!” He laughed and took Kiyo's hand. “I'm with you aren't I? You always make sure that I'm okay!”
“Umm…okay. If you're sure, let's go on home then…”

“Are you done yet, Zatch?” Kiyo asked. He was leaning on the wall near the door to his room, where Zatch was changing.
“Not yet… Okay… I'm done, Kiyo!” Zatch walked out wearing a T-shirt and a pair of jeans worn at the knees. “How do I look, Kiyo?”
“Awesome…” Kiyo said dismissively. “Come on… I'm going to drop you off at the park. I gotta go run an errand for mom”
“An errand? Can I come with you, Kiyo?”
“I thought you wanted to go play.”
“Not without you, Kiyo!” Zatch smiled his weird little grin again. “I rather spend the day with my best friend in the whole world!”
“That's flattering, Zatch,” Kiyo said. “But I don't think you want to go to the post office, its not much fun…”
“Nonsense! You're always lots of fun, Kiyo! What do we have to do?”
“We're gonna send a package to dad in England. Come on, we gotta hurry. “Kiyo picked up a neatly taped green box. “The post office closes early on Saturday…”
“Then let's go!” Zatch took the box from Kiyo. “Come on, let's hurry!” He held the box over his head and headed downstairs.
“Be careful with that, Zatch! It might be fragile.”
Zatch stopped and held the box tight to his chest. “Yes sire, Kiyo! Anything for you, Kiyo!” He carefully walked down the stairs, emphasizing each step.
`Boy is he acting weird…' Kiyo thought. `He's actually listening to me… and he's behaving… I guess that spell is better than I thought…'

“That went well.” Zatch said cheerfully as he and Kiyo left the post office. “Who knew that the post office was so interesting?”
Kiyo nodded and looked down at the little mamodo. “Yeah… Hey Zatch, how are you feeling?”
Zatch looked up at him and blinked. He smiled. “Just like you to be worried about me! I'm fine, why do you ask, Kiyo?”
“I dunno… You've been acting… Is that spell wearing off yet?”
Zatch shrugged. “If it is, then I haven't noticed. I like being bigger, Kiyo! Now I can hang out with you, even more!
“Right…” Kiyo looked up and spotted a pizza shop. “Hey, Zatch. You want something to eat? We can get a pizza or something.”
“Wow, Kiyo! I never noticed how well you take care of me before!” Zatch jumped up and hugged Kiyo's arm. “I'd love to have some pizza, as long as I get to share it with my favorite person in the whole wide world! By the way, that's you Kiyo!”
“Umm…okay, then…” The two walked into the restaurant. “Get a table, Zatch, and I'll order something.”
“You're gonna order for me too?! You are officially the best!” Zatch cried. He saluted Kiyo. “Rest assured, I will find the best table in the room for us!”
`That won't be hard, considering they're all empty…' Kiyo thought grimly as Zatch began inspecting each table and chair.

“Kiyo! That was the best day I've ever had, and it isn't even half-way over!” Zatch was running circles around Kiyo as he two headed back home. Zatch jumped up and hooked himself around Kiyo's waist. Kiyo stopped and just let Zatch stay.
“Oh Kiyo?!”
“Yes, Zatch?”
“Why?”
“Why what?”
“Why are you so good to me?! Huh? Huh?”
Kiyo sighed. “I guess it just comes to me…”
“Well you're the best, Kiyo! Anything you need, just ask, and I'll do it!”
“Really?! How about letting me go!”
“Done!” Zatch jumped down, but took Kiyo's hand. “The world needs more people like you, Kiyo.”
“Thank you, Zatch…” Kiyo looked down at the boy. `Why's he acting like I'm so special? Maybe that spell does a lot more than we thought… He's getting way too friendly. I mean he was friendly before, but this is over-doing it…'
Zatch began humming a little tune and began humming.
“Ki-yo…Ki-yo
He's so cool
Ki-yo…Ki-yo
He's so nice
Ki-yo…Ki-yo
He's so smart
Ki-yo…Ki-yo
He's so strong
Ki-yo…Ki-yo
Is never wrong…”
Kiyo ignored the mamodo's song.
“Kiyo, you know what?” Zatch asked.
“What?”
“I really, really, really, like you!”
“That's… that's nice to know.”
“You like me, too. Right? That's why you're so nice to me! Other book-owners are mean to their mamodos, but not you Kiyo! You like, right?”
Kiyo hesitated. “Yeah… Zatch… I like you too…”
“Yay, that makes me so happy!”
“Oh, Kizu, look another mamodo who's butt we can kick!” A girl's voice interrupted them. “We should burn their book too!”
A girl about Kiyo's age was standing in their way. She was wearing a short blue blouse and skirt, and her black hair was tied into to ponytail. She was carrying an burgundy book in her hands and next to her was a little kid, much like the younger Zatch, with red eyes and hair.
“A mamodo, Kiyo! I hope you've brought the book!” Zatch cried. He got in front of Kiyo and spread his arms protectively
“I did, Zatch! Let's make this a quick battle!”
“We'll see about that… Mari read the spell!” The little boy, Kizu commanded.
“Here goes! Degron!”
